Here's a simple fix for setting up OperaMini as your default browser in both Manila2D and Manila3D. It doesn't require any editing of anything. Just drop this file into your Windows folder. It links to OperaMini assuming the ROM was built with Esmertec Java and OperaMini or that OperaMini was the first thing you installed on Esmertec Java.
I created it using an older program called LaunchPad that I found online. It basically creates executables that act like LNK files.

This brings up a different question. How do you create a link to a Java program so you don't have to open up Java first?

Looks like you answered faster than me. But yes, that's it. You'll also need: http://www.orbworks.com/wince/#Download
Use that software to create the links and then the links can be used after without the program.

AudioManager is not linked but embedded so this wouldn't quite work. Sorry.

Look at the first post in a few minutes to see it updated with a link to IE.
Could you make a link to Opera 9.5 on SD Card (\Storage Card\Program Files\Opera9\OperaL.exe)? Would be cool!

I had installed one of those all-in-one opera mini cabs, so the file on the first post did not work for me. I was able to download LaunchPad and create my own working file. My question is, is there a way to open opera mini on a web page, or will it always open on that start page? The same for Skyfire, can that be opened on a web page, or just the start page?

As we talked with the great mpenguin14, author of Manilla 2D Customizer, I decide to add a new function by MortScript, waiting he puts it in his great software !
So this script will scan your favorites's folder, and will keep all URLs and Names you give and put them all in your Internet's tab of Manilla 2D.
So, what do you need ?
* Manilla 2D
* Some Favorites in your PIE
And what do you expect ?
* Automatically put all your favorites in the Internet tab of Manilla 2D.
Be carreful it's the v0.1 and remember to make a backup first because I can't find your datas if you loose some....
In the cab you have :
* MortScript SDK
* TF2D_NetC (exe & mscr) the core of the soft
* HH_INTERNET_IE.bmp => will be copied to your \Windows, just replace it (22*22) to change the icon of your bookmarks

Hi,
could you check something to know where is the bug please ?
#1 : where is located your Youtube ? (mine default : \Windows\YouTube.exe)
#2 : where is located you bmp's youtube ? (\Windows\HH_INTERNET_YOUTUBE.bmp)
I think the bug is located in #1 or #2 or both....I will adapt my script soon as possible, maybe by checking thoses parameters.

I believe bookmarks are stored in the file in the root of this folder called opera6.adr

I don't think the SDK is out yet but they are just like web pages. They even run inside a IE shell.
I'm no developer, but I downloaded a few sidebar apps and with just a few filename changes, I was able to get the text part of the widgets to run.
It should be pretty easy to get the images working, if a developer takes some time to look at it.
i remember having seen a video were wm6.5 was presented. The microsoft guy said that the widget engine is made by a common widget-standart so you could even use Opera or Firefox widgets ("so no secret microsoft stuff")...
But if have to tell: i understand only very little about programming so i could have got i wrong

I'm surprised there has not been any developments in this thread? In the SDK there are some examples and code to create your own Widgets. Seems like a pretty simple setup.

There is no specific folder where you have to put widget files. Save the .wgt file where you want or select Open if you download it to the device.

it installs the same way cab files do, copy it to your device and run to install.

Ensure that you have the following registry key:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\riapp\Shell\Open\Command]
@="wmwidgetinstaller.exe %1"
If the wmwidgetinstaller.exe is not registered the .wgt file will not be installed.

Unfortunately also the new version Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn't have a feed reader. Everyone with a Windows Mobile device sees XML code of RSS feeds. Therefore there are two options: You install a feed reader or I will modify my widget to display such feeds with the feed reader of my application.

You sure did a soft reset? Cause the cab doesn't ask for it. My app only worked after a reset. But it is possible that the manila.cab only works on german systems. In this case I'm awfully sorry.
I looked this file up in the windows directory. It is a german language file for manila. Thanks anyway. I am looking for the file responsible for english translation for calendar tab in manila. Thanks, anyway

Could you post some actual information so that people who might be inclined to help you have something to go on.
"Doesn't work" means what? Crashes? Freezes? Turns the screen blue?
How about a logcat?
How about telling us what version of everything that you are using and where you got it from?

The most recent version of aldiko does not work, but an older version does. Try the older ones from http://www.aldiko.com/downloads/ like version 2.0.0.081
Opera Mini (the one that came with touchnooter) crashes for me too. Opera Mobile (the latest) downloaded from the Market works.

Download ES File Explorer and Opera Mobile from Market.
Then either
1. Go to the above aldiko link in Opera Mobile, and pick the version you want, and it will save the .apk in Downloads. Then open the .apk in Downloads using E S File Explorer and it will install.
or
2. You should also be able to download the .apk from the link on your computer, and then connect your Nook to the computer and
copy it to the Nook. Disconnect the nook from your computer and open the .apk using E S File Explorer on the Nook.

I dont read much pdf and I bought the ezPDF reader (paid) for some other device which works well for some pdfs.
The built in reader from B&N can handle pdf, have you tried it?
open the Library app and find your book.
