[Q] To attend calls when the phone is locked - Wildfire General

Hi Guys,
I recently got my wildfire.
When i receive a call when the phone is locked, sometimes i am not able to pull the screen down to attend the call.
It happens rarely in few weeks back, but now it is happening quite often.
Can somebody help me to resolve it.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
Magesh

I guess the problem lies with the way you slide the lock thingy. Rather than sliding from the picture downwards, you could try to slide it from the top of the phone (yes from the HTC logo) downwards. Hope this helps.

thanks thunderskin,, will try that.. but the problem is i will always be on my headphone.. so when a call comes, i have to take the phone out from the pocket to attend it.. is there any way to attend it without the need for taking the phone out.. i hope i make myself clear..

I've had this happen before, I think it's a HTC bug. When I first got the phone someone called me and I couldn't unlock it.

@DestX,,,OMG!!! you did something for it???

Unless you are using the original HTC earphones, theres nothing you can do but to slide to answer

Since I don't get a 'hell of alot of' phone calls, I can't exactly say whether it disappeared with using CM6 rom.
But I haven't had it do it for a while now, does yours do it everytime?

Yes.. its happening for atleast once in a day..
i just got my phone.. so am just learning how to root it and put a new rom..

sounds like it could be HW issue or SW as well. if it's still covered by wty better send it to SC. we don't want to void the wty right? hehehe if WMG has ROM upgrade you may want to try and upgrade it and see if problem still persist

[REQ][HELP] Answering Phone Calls??

Alright, so i have a telus diamond, and when somebody calls (most of the time) i press ANSWER (the big green button) and all it does is silence the ringer, and it won't start the conversation, i wait until the person on the other line finally hangs up then i gotta call them back, this has happend previously so i brought it to telus, they gave me a new one and its happening again!!! i cant see why? the only programs i have that change settings is Diamond Tweak, and i've looked several times, and i barely changed anything in it. Can somebody help me? I'd rather not bring it to them again and seem like the boy who cried diamond
Are you sure you are actually are hitting the green answer button, and not the "silence call" button? THey are quite close. Check it out.
no, i see the button flash, and i've tried pushing the hardware button as an alternative, but its still unsuccessfull most times
I had this issue as well. I did a swap and am still having the issue. I'm going to try a hard-reset at some point and then just monitor it to see if it continues to happen.
If it does, back to Telus to see what they can do for me.
Hmm.. now that U mention is, I have it too.
Mine's bought during launch in Singapore. It happens once in a while, but I didn't bother finding a solution to that.
Sounds like the same problem I had: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430980
Post #7 was a suggestion I tried. It apparently solved the problem for me.

there's a huge thread on the sprint forum about this problem too...
this problem is extremely annoying... and nobody seems to know the cause..
Wow, i guess i'm not the only one, thats good i sopose, i'd rather not bring it back to them and get a third diamond... i'm thinking of maybe finding out about getting a totally different phone... i love the diamond, but its pissing me off, not only that, it gets right slow sometimes... maybe im too hard on it, i dont know... but all they have at telus for ppc is HTC Touch (elf) and Htc touch dual i think...

I am having this same problem and its driving me insane! Does anyone know if Sprint has addressed this yet? Is there anything I can do?

Advice plz!

Hey guys,
I've had the phone for 1 or 2 months now, and was enjoying it, but I had that annoying "cardiac arrest" bug which has been described in another thread, where the line suddenly starts jumping back and forth when using applications like swype. It wasn't too bad in that it only happened every now and then, but I sent it back to HTC for repair anyway.
The phone has now been returned in an even worse state than when I sent it! Now it happens a lot more often, almost every other time I use the phone, and the jumping back and forth is a LOT more pronounced!
Returning my phone on warranty is a massive hassle for me because I have to be at home to send and receive the phone, and so I wanted some advice here. Is my only option to return it to HTC over and over again and hope that they eventually fix it? Or are there any other options? Would HTC be able to just give me a new phone?
This phone was bought from O2 (but not by me). Would O2 do anything different to HTC, or would they just send it to HTC for repair? If so, would I be better off getting the person who purchased it to return it to O2?
Please explain your problem in a little more detail

Heya, I'm not sure what additional details might be needed...
the problem is that when the finger is on the screen and held absolutely still, the phone thinks I'm swyping my finger left and right really quickly. And when I try to press buttons it often registers the completely wrong button.
When I sent it to HTC under warranty, it came back even worse than when I sent it.

[Q] Sticky slide to unlock (again) advice?

Ok guys heres my situation.
Im on my third streak, the first one the earpiece stopped working, the second one had the stick slide to unlock, i got my third one today (o2 very kindly gave me a second battery and back cover!)
But im annoyed to see that this new one still has the sticky slide to unlock. I know there are some apps i can use to get round it, but it seems a bit odd for such a device to make it hard to answer calls!!
Anyone know why this happens, is it a hardware thing or is it the rom?
Or any advice what i can do, its on contrat from o2, anything i can do?
Thanks
I'm just guessing but it seems to be a that the screen just becomes un responsive. I can use the side buttons but I can't get the touch screen to work. almost as though its been disabled.
this happens less with 2.2 and I use the menu unlock from knobs. it means that I hardly notice it these days.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I have read many people have this problem as a result of keepingthe phone in their pants. Something about the screen being in a constant discharging state that messes with its accuracy.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yea I guess that makes sense, but where do Dell want us to keep it!
Any way to stop this happening?
Well I use a holster for mine. Considering the reports of 'pants stress' cracking the lcd underneath the glass, I don't want to take any chances. Plus it makes a nice fashion statement

i had the same problem with the sticky slide to unlock, i'm on the o2 2.1 release, i fixed it by rooting the device and editing the build.prop file. look for build.prop under system, search inside and find "debug.sf.hw=0" and change to "debug.sf.hw=1" ...no more sticky slide to unlock
if your on 1.6, you might want to try the same.

I sometimes have the sticky slide to unlock problem, I'm on Stephen Hyde's 2.2 has anybody tried this, editing the build.prop file, for the 2.2
hmm... seems i am not alone. I have encountered exactly the same problem. the top bar of screen become sticky after i keep the device in the back pocket.
i am going back to the O2 shop and try to get it fixed or exchanged...
the conclusion is ---never keep it in the back pocket!?
FWIW. i had the same problem. Took my screen protector off it hasn't happened since then although im still curious as to why i never had this problem with 1.6. Lets just hope its resolved in 2.2 then i can put another screen protector on
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
my one is on 2.1. no protector on at all.
i just return it to the O2 shop. the guy told me they need to return it for repair.
i just wondering how will they repair it??? Hope i will get another brand new device from them at the end. Or get it fixed without charging me anything...
need to wait for maximum 10 days for a call from the shop...
Mine was in for 'repair' I got it back one week after putting it in, it was a different phone.
But it's still just the same.
I'm going into o2 tomorrow to see what I can do, I'm going to try to change it for a different phone, maybe a hd7
Just root your phone and follow the steps above to edit your build.prop
U can unroot the phone when your done if you choose

what is the rational behind it? why have to make the change? why it work before without the change?
i will ask for model change as well if the problem can't be fixed by O2.
1.6 has the option enabled.
2.1 and 2.2 don't
By enabling the option android will use the phones GPU for graphic nit its CPU
Well I don't agree with the pocket thing. When I was on 1.6 never had issue with it being in pocket. When went to 2.1 is when it all started. 2.1 was horrible with 2.2 being slightly better. As far as editing build prop mine is already set to 1 not 0 so that must not be the problem either. Has to be something in the code somewhere or 1.6 would have had same issue.
I just thought id update this with what's going on now.
I went up to the o2 store in Glasgow and spoke with them, they told me to ring customer services so that they could escalate my problem, when i phoned they told me that the stare has to do it. So I handed my phone to the guy in the o2 shop.
The short of it is that the only way forward (unless i want my 4th streak!) was to put a complaint in and the store manager will 'look into it'
One interesting point is that two of the staff told me that its a known fault!! Dell have admitted there is problem, of course o2 blamed dells software until I said that I was using the o2 2.1 rom (the guy quickly changed the subject)
I will be paying them a visit on Monday again.
Here is my update: after 3 days including weekend, I got my replacement back. it's a new one. Which make me believe DELL didn't spend anytime for repair. Seems they just replace it for me straightaway. I agree that 'it's known issue for DELL'
I got extra back cover and battery!
the ROM version is 1.6 which disapoint me a little bit. offical 2.2 is coming anyway...I will hold my horse for the upgrade this time. just to rule out the rom issue.

Is this in reference to the debug.sf.hw...?
...Wouldn't you WANT the GPU for graphics, and NOT the CPU...?
Isn't that the purpose of the GPU...?
I'm on 2.2, enabled debug.sf.hw and the issue is resolved.
No sticky slider. No side affects. No performance change.
...untill I hear a valid reason...it stays

the crap did that do? its fixed more than the issue with my sticky slide to unlock. i had an issue when a dialog would make that fadey background thing, the phone would slow down horrifically but this fixed that. im quite happy now, knowing not what that actually fixes.
There seems to be more to the problem
After weeks of faultless operation, I started noticing a sticky slider again, also weird touch screen behaviour
After clearing all caches and restarting the phone, I'm all good again.
I think 2.1 was just hobbled together
Bring on 2.2

[DISCUSS] Screen Issue? (BSOD)

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is a software bug or a issue with my handset only - but whenever I answer a call, the screen will go black as normal (when putting phone to ear) but when the call is ended the screen will stay black.
I have to then take the battery out as the screen fails to turn on, a real pain! Want to know if anyone else has had this issue? I've already done the software update which has made no difference.
I know I am being very simple here and I do not want to insult your intelligence but have you made sure the phone isn't locking when your in call.
Same issue mate idk what it is hateful although if call is ended it pops back up but for voicemail and so or to hang up urself argh....

Not it's not locking mate, the screen just goes off so even if it is locked you can't tell! It's a bug or something to do with the light sensor maybe.

I just contacted sony ericsson support it's a software issue which will be patched out next patch so guess we have to be patient
it's frustrating not to be able to end a call by yourself and ask the other to end the call lol
Thanks for letting me know. Hope the patch comes out soon!

No problem I have the same issue although I found out a way to semi fix it myself
activate your slider in the xperia play suite then it comes active again that's the only way after a call I can get the screen back on.
To hang up when in call I guess I have to wait for the patch aswell
I'll give that a go next time! Annoying bug - you think they would get the basic phone features right!
Glad I spotted this thread, I was close to taking the phone back to CPW for a replacement! I have found that sometimes if you press the home key as soon as your call connects, you can keep the screen on (pressing the home key whenever it goes off). If you are near a powered up charger, plug it in and the slide unlock screen comes back on immediately.
Come on SE, don't let us down.
Great post - thanks added.
Maybe needs to be sticky.
Just found something else on XDA in the ZTE Blade development forum. Came across this when flashing a new ROM on my daughter's Blade. There has been a Gingerbread ROM written that appears to have the same problem, so could this be a Gingerbread issue rather than SE?
xda-developers > ZTE Blade > Blade Android Development
[ROM] CyanogenMod-7 for ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) :: V7.0.2 (25/04/2011)
That being the link in question. Sorry about posting it like that, not sure if it's possible another way, but look at reply number 6.
Is this affecting all XPlays or just some? I haven't noticed it tbh, when I move the phone away from my face at all the screen comes back on automatically. Maybe the call has to be over a certain length or something?
No problem here, i tested it lyk ten times during a call.

it's all about bluetooth headphones....lost my first pair of these then bought them again.

You can end the call with them, even start and stop music...plus they are slick.
I'm on the UK generic 1.84 FW and haven't encountered that issue (the newest release). When I had my htc desire hd some people were having that same issue so it might be a GB issue all together from the stock android FW that effects some peoples hardware. Afaik there's small differences in the hardware on the same phones, that might also have something to do with some is affected and some not by it?
Regards Dousan...
ive never experienced this either
on 184, unlocked
No problems here, on Rogers Canadian 181 build.
