I was wondering if anyone had the speaker for the epic. Mine blew and now it sounds like crap listening to music. I talked to Samsung and they said they'd fix it and it'd take about a week. But as of now my warranty is void, rooted and custom rom, I have a pretty good idea on how to replace it. But now I need the speaker. I tried a few places to no avail. So now I am on a quest to find one. Any help would be awesome!

Odin back to stock, and there will be no trace of a custom anything. Then take it in to a Sprint store, they'll order a new phone and have it for you in 2-3 days.
Thanks, I'll stop by sprint tomorrow and see. If all else fails I crack this baby open and fix it my self. After looking at an exploded view it looks pretty simple to get too.

Odin first! And even if Sprint *****es, go through Samsung. You have a warranty, the part failed because of a manufacturing defect, you're entitled to a free repair. Never give up!
OK. I'll try to go the warranty route. Imma tinker, I don't know the software part of androids and cell phones, but the hardware I can figure out! So I try to mess with them some times.

It's not out yet, but we're looking into it.
Sprint repair centers have the part. They switched mine in about 30 minutes. I didn't even have to give my passcode - just played some music from pandora and made a speaker phone call to show it was busted.

If you have insurance, it's a free repair. If you don't have insurance, it's $35 and probably shipped to the store, you keep your old device until it comes in (1-2 days) and then swap it out when it arrives UPS.

hahaha nice...
just tell him you can always unroot if needed
If or when it screws up, flash the official HTC RUU and then it's back to normal. They don't know if it's rooted or not, if they want to see it flash the RUU.
Sent from my HERO200 using Tapatalk
If he is worried about the warranty, you can always go back to the Spring software by running the RUU from the Sprint/HTC website and the phone will return to the Out-of-Box state... so no worries there.
On the other hand, install a custom ROM (aospCMod) and show him the difference on what all you can do with the phone... as compared to the Sprint software.

Your question has already been answered, just run the RUU to get it back to factory state and magically the warranty's back in effect. What exactly is he pissed about? It's kind of hard to help you devise some type of argument if we don't really know what he's saying since you can undo what's been done. Hmmm...maybe try telling him to stop being such a girl about things and grow a set(no offence to any hermaphrodites who've rooted their phones). If he/she doesn't, refer to my previous drunk post

Tell your Dad that when you master new technology, you are improving your skills and knowledge so that you will be able to secure a well paying job. Tell him that when you do secure that job, YOU will buy HIM a nice new phone!
Try this, used to shut my dad up and leave him pissed with this one:

There never, ever is a good or valid reason for that kind of low life behavior. It's just cowardice or total lack of character. Any one who thinks this behavior is excusable or justifiable is admitting to a similar mindset.
And yeah, sometimes people do need judging to help them see the boundaries between right and wrong.

Straight up. I am currently using ZenDroid 2.1.1, but have encountered this problem on several roms and so have others. The person on the other side gets a horrible echo. I just moved to a house where my reception is horrible, and I need this to work properly. My wife and I both have vibrants.
The bottom line - be the first to deliver to me a non echoing, functional t-mobile wifi calling app for froyo, and I Paypal you $50. I prefer to have it work on zen droid, but if there is no other way, I will change to another froyo rom to have this work properly. I just have to confirm it has fixed my problems before payment, and $50 is yours. No BS.
Anyone up to the challenge?

Yeah I saw it, what I am looking for now is actually to get the app fixed , if someone has the time...
Everything he said makes sense, and I will have to try the volume thing to see how it works. I posted this before I saw what he said on the ZenDroid thread.
As far as the incentive, I think it is a good idea. I am totally not trying to be a smartass, when I say it would not be the first time something unfixable on this phone was fixed by some great minds on this forum. I'm trying to motivate someone to try and overcome a difficult, perhaps insurmountable obstacle.

NP, and, certainly not trying to push. I am not an EDT fanboy, but I have tried at least 8-10 2.3.4-2.3.5 ROMs, just about giving up, and saying Nexus Prime is prolly less than 2 months away. On a final whim I tried Asgard, and with this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
despite myself, I actually have working GPS that is equal to or better than any FroYo ROM I have used. I am on my 3rd replacement Vib. and the first 2 sucked wind as far as GPS went, so I KNOW bad GPS. I saw another poster (and I should have bookmarked the quote) say something to the effect that anything that could possibly be a GB bug he has managed to experience on his Vib. +1... The problem is that no 2 phones are the same, so YMMV, but I am now, albeit reluctantly, a believer that GB can have awesome GPS. Just my 4 cents.
I use my gps on a daily basis as a must for my business and im on miui revamped and have been for a couple months..these guys have got the gps goin on,its fast, accurate and i haven't driven off a cliff or into the ocean yet.
So if your sticking with froyo for that reason....your missing out.
Good luck with your wifi calling endeavour

Thanks nick. Is a form of wifi calling working on miui? Did not think it was, guess its the only thing keeping me off it now. Things changed for me moving to the new place, but after a few hiccups, the studio should be at 100% in about two weeks. Its always something, right?
I would have tried your rom earlier, but I just lack the time to do the switching around nowadays. Had to go back to froyo and stay for awhile.

All source does is make it easier for the devs...they can do without source, but they'd have to write evrything from the ground up, which, funnily enough, should've been done by now if the cm devs didn't keep falling back on the sauceline.
But its completely understandable. Its like when I used to play pokemon yellow. I've gone through mt.moon numerous times without flash, but flash makes it A LOT A LOT A LOT easier,so I go and get it.

FYI we need a donor device to get UnBrickable Mod onto Epic.
I thought I found someone but haven't heard back from them in a while.
BTW, "donor device" means a device which will have it's CPU (destructively) removed to find the correct pins and do the mapping.
See here for more info.
Keep an ear out for any dead / bricked Epics that someone might want to donate to the cause.

Probably need some more information regarding what ROM you are running. I know there was trouble with some older ICS ROMs (and GB if I recall, its been a long time) where the mic pickup was terrible and people could barely hear you talking during a call.
EDIT: Opps. Just saw you were talking about hearing other people, not them hearing you. Still, need more information regarding the ROM you're on.

Ok thanks!
I did a quick Google search and i found this:
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-t-mobile-g2-earpiece-speaker-replacement.html
It a replacement part with tools and instructions.. i've never heard of the website so i'm kind of skeptical about it. Idk if its safe or not to buy..
