hi do the roms work on the T-Mobile HD2 - HD2 General

because the tmobile section looks really scarce i wasnt sure if this forum worked for the tmobile and telus version also?

I need to first remind you to look at the stickies. But what you're looking for is right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Not all of them works, but most do. I personally use Energy ROMs, and they're great, but it's a matter of taste.

the compatible ones will say they are tmous compatible. if it doesn't say it, do NOT flash it.
even.more important is non tmous stock roms... they all contain radios that will brick the tmous.

T-Mobile USA HD2 Rom

I've searched the Rom development forum and can't find the new T-mobile USA Rom. I've found plenty of cooked Roms but I would like to try the stock one first as I am in the US and use T-mobile. Is the Rom available and if so where?
Thanks for your help.
If you're in US, use HD2 with T-Mobile, didn't it come with stock ROM?
Call me crazy, but I didn't think it was out yet
What hes asking is is there a T-Mobile USA stock ROM, meaning the ROM that will be in the upcoming HD2 for T-Mobile USA.
But
I think a lot of custom ROMs have already, included the improvements from that ROM into their own ROMs.
use search function ,the stock was released 2 weaks ago in rom development forum (thanks to xmoo)
I'm actually curious about the reverse question: can any of the available ROMs be used with the new t-mobile HD2, considering that the radio hardware is different?

yes ofcourse rom doesnot depend on radio hardware only flash the proper radio
no the spl is different i just found this out so we will have to wait for a new hardspl in order to flash
To answer the OPs question, the ROM you want is here:

what? sorry i havent dealt with the hd2 yet just my touch pro can you explain what you mean
sspl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
thanks. so do you flash that just like spl in the past and it lets you boot any rom from then on? or slightly different
SSPL (soft secondary program loader) is a temporary way to allow your phone to flash custom roms only (not radios). This doesnt give your phone the protection that HardSPL gives you.
have a read and start on post 4, theres loads of into
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
and this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606713
Unfortunately guys, SSPL and HSPL both don't yet work for the US T-Mobile HD2.... We have to wait until they release HSPL 2, which all posts I've seen, is been worked on, though there's no ETA....
tmobile htc hd2
the tmo hd2 came wIth the first two transformers movies. I thought the movies were on th sd card but there is some jerkiness on playback..why is this. Is it played over the net.. sorry but Ive been so busy today didnt figure out why it was somewhat jerky. over all like the tmo hd2. THE ROM NEEDS WORK. have yet tocheck out the tvprogram but itlooks good depending onthe number of channels etc. as you can see Im still gettingused to no physical keyboard...onscreen is huge and you can actually read full screen web pageswith no zoom and pinch to zoom is great.

Is there an Easy way to tell if a specific ROM is T-Mobile USA compatible?

As the topic states, is there an easy way to eyeball a ROM and know if it will work with the TMO USA 1024/578 HD2?
Any advice would be appreciated (I'm sure a lot of us are wondering!)
Cheers,
Bale
im fairly certain by logical deduction that any rom will work fine, as long as you read the radio requirements carefully.
i deduce this because:
Telstra HD2 is different model number to EU HD2 and roms are interchangeable
TMO US roms work fine on the EU and Telstra HD2
and im sure i saw a post where someone was running a cooked rom on their TMO US HD2
but dont take my word for it, its just logical thinking
I tend to agree, however the HSPL cookers made a rather big note about compatibility and as someone who isnt exactly fluent in all the jargon yet I find myself wondering.
Also, the TMO USA HD2 has totally different specs than the EU version and so that might cause mem allocation problems etc...
yeah i just read the warning too, so ignore my comments
its better to be safe than sorry!
Really, not all ROMs are compatible.
During testing, not all ROMs working...
This happen because 2.XX ROMs have additional stuffs (like 1024 Mbytes NAND support), while 1.XX ROMs have not.
OK so it is a case by case basis and we will just have to try and see or have the chef let us know?
I assume that if I try a non-compatible ROM, my HD2 will just hang on the loader?

FYI .. I just had a good friend load a non compatible ROM on his TMO HD2 and it is as dead as a fish outta water .... Won't boot at all ....completely out of commission.
So I'm waiting until someone specifies if a ROM is compatible ...
Thanks for the report
Good to know there is an easy way to know if a ROM will work or not (instead of having bugs and errors crop up on a seemingly functional ROM.
I think I saw EnergyROM is compatible. He just has to upload the file to his host. I'm going EnergyRom w/ CookieMonster when I get my phone
Can this ROM be installed with T-Mobile US version HD2 after HSPL'd?

So are you saying that we should be safe with 2.xx roms for Tmo US or should we just wait and see if we can get a working list going. I would say we should start a list thread but i know if i do i wont be dedicated to keep it up if anyone wants to take that on.

[Q] Is there a difference

I just got a new T-Mo HD2, i wanted to know if there was a difference between this roms and the HD2 roms. Does it really matter which one i flash it with??
the roms will say whether it is tmous compatible or not.
flashing the wrong custom rom isn't too bad, it just won't work. its non tmous stock roms that will permanently kill your phone, because of the ..51.. radio they contain.
so long as you stay in this tmous section you should be fine.
I flashed it with a non tmo rom, and works perfect. I reflashed with a tmo rom and my colors are bit messed up. so i guess it's back to a non tmo rom. I use energy roms on my phones.
I was reading the Energy Rom say "
This ROM is compatible with all HD2 devices manufactured by HTC" so i should be okay..
yea that one is fine cos that rom uses the stock tmous rom as its base, (many do, look for roms that say example "2.13 base" or "2.10 base",, you will get the hang of it soon enough) so it is a tmous rom under the hood.
always, ALWAYS read the first few posts in any roms thread, so many people just look at the screenshots and think "that's the one for me" without reading what the chef says about it.

[Q] Looking for an Explaination and Advice

Yesterday I installed a ROM called: Leo_AF WWE, dated: 14-08-2010. Radio verson: 2.10.50.07U
I thought I was installing Android. Yea, I know, pretty dumb. I admit it!!!
Have I done something bad? Is this ROM going to work with my T-Mobile phone? Is it possibe to go back to the original ROM?
I need an explation and any advice as too what to do.
Thanks in advance.
Irwin
all is fine, if you read the thread for that rom, it says tmous compatible, you have a tmous, so its compatible.
The most (in fact only) important part for you is teh radio, , , all radios have version numbers like x.xx.XX.xx
The red bit will always be either 50 or 51
If you flash a radio with 51, your phone will be unrecoverably dead, permanent.
Be sure of what you are flashing next time,.
Thanks...

It was a lesson learned.
I will be more careful from now on.

no worries, just one extra piece of info regarding 50/51 radios.
There are two ..50.. radios that will also kill your phone, they are 2.04.50.x and 2.05.50.x
Always go for 2.06.50.x and higher, and you will be fine.

sam, I'm curious...where did those two verboten .50 radios come from? And are they only available stand-alone or are they in some certain ROM's?
For the 2.04.50 the regular leo radio thread it quotes it as
Leo_RADIO_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2(from HTC ** 1.43)
(Perhaps originally they were gonna use 50 to 51 as a minor update code?)
and the 2.05.50 is from the tmous 2.01 test rom, which I think was the first tmous rom, and was probably written to work on the non tmous phones, so they could dev it using regular leos.
There is also a non tmous rom that has a ..50.. radio, taiwan rom, and has 2.12.50.x radio in it. Never heard any reports whether it is tmous safe or not, , , not sure what a Leo S is,
RUU_Leo_S_hTC_Asia_TW_3.04.709.1_Radio_15.40.50.07 U_2.12.50.02_2_Signed_LEO_Ship.exe
in the regular leo rom dev section, currently on page 12
EDIT - oh, glancing through that thread there is an asian rom for 576 Leo 1.5 phones too, wonder if that is tmous safe...
RUU_Leo_1_5_hTC_Asia_TW_2.14.709.P1_Radio_15.39.50.07U_2.10.50.26_Signed_LEO_Test.exe
WARNING FOR ANYONE READING THIS, please dont go flashing those two roms unless you know what you are doing, and if you DO, please dont blame me if it all goes bad.

I ran into the same thing he did when trying that, and I've still been able to run CHT/CHTE, etc without any issue
oh, and thanks for the explanation on the oddball .50 radios...I would never have guessed that's where they came from, but I haven't really poked around much with the test builds of the tmo roms.
Thank You Sir, I really appreciate the quick response. I did attempt to install the 3.5 however once I added CoOkies Mods and a couple of Dinik's the phone went bonkers.. Freezing, rebooting..etc.. Then I finally got an error that stated to install 3.5.. Thats why I figured those mods wouldn't work with the 3.7 that came on my phone.. I will, as you advised, post correctly the next time. Again thanks for the time to read thru my self inflicted drama and the knoweledge you have given.. LOL! You guys are appreciated.
Blessings and Respect bro! I will try to install CHTE again and see what happens.

[Solved]HSPL and T-mobile, and what happen if I install non Tmobile HD2 ROM

Hi Guys
I just got my T-mobile HTC HD2, and its used and unlocked, so I dont know if it's already has HSPL or not!! how do I know that?
the second thing; what happen if I installed by "mistake" an HD2 ROM that is not for T-mobile?
and does android froyo works perfectly on t-mobile hd2?
finally, is there a big different between the T-mobile HD2 and the orginal one? I know it has a 1024 MB Rom but is there a good reason to buy it over the orginal one, because I found a non Tmobile HD2 with cheap price and I am thinking to buy it for my brother.
take care
To find out if you have HardSPL applied, restart your device and hold the volume down button until you get to a three colored screen. Ass long as it says "COTULLA SPL" near the top you have HardSPL applied.
If you accidentally install a ROM that is not for the T-Mobile US HD2, it will brick your device and you will no longer have a working phone. Currently there is no way to repair such a device except through JTAG.
Android for the most part works, except for the sounds and MMS basically. Read the threads about Android for more info.
The difference between the Euro HD2 and the US HD2 is indeed the ROM size. The Euro one has 512MB of ROM, and the US has 1024MB of ROM. They ROMs are NOT compatable with each other, you MUST flash a ROM that is safe for the US HD2 if that is the device you have.
Thank you very much

Not quite true. If you accidentally flash a non tmous COOKED rom, then you are OK, because cooked roms generally dont contain a radio, and its the radios that kill. So the phone would hang on initial boot screen, but you could still enter bootloader and flash a new rom. Its only the official roms that contain radios, thats why so many people brick them trying to change the language, because they go for non tmous stock roms.
Thats what I mean, official ROMs cannot be mixed.
