Guys I'd like to ask if there any Arabic support for the Desire Z ?
And could I use the Arabizer for Desire (Without Z) to the Desire Z ?
And is that mandatory to root the Froyo 2.2 to Arabize it ? and if yes how can I do it ? I'm sooo new to Android and I really need help
NB: I'm looking for the Arabic support only not to Arabize the menu and the programs names... thank you guys
I once read that it's possible to download any locale from Marketplace, but I don't know any more details.

Hello guys,
I have the desire z with arabic fonts but everything in arabic shows wrong (disconnected letters) very annoing and hard to read. I found some soft keyboards on market but nothing mentioning arabic fix for reading. Anyone know how to fix this for froyo? Great phone but need to fix this arabic reading issue.
Any help will be appreciated.
I tried anysoftkeyboard i think it's called, but all it does is give you the option of an onscreen keyboard with the built in font. It doesn't connect the letters, i don't want to type arabic, i just want to be able to read it properly on my phone without having to root or alter the OS. the phone is great very fast, apart from this issue i love it.
Will this be fix in the next android version? do you guys think we'll be getting the update as well from HTC?
I am patientely waiting for Android's software Engineeres to connect the Arabic letters...
Other than that I love my Desire Z over my SGS.
Cheers
for sms -only- download Mirsal from market
yep, Mirsal does the trick for sms.
problem persists for emails and browsing etc.
there are no arabisers like in winmo.
I tested the new Desire HD being sold in the middle east and it comes preloaded with full arabic support froyo 2.2! Same with the Galaxy Tab. The interface can be english with full support of arabic text in sms, email and browser.
Now my questions, am i stuck with no official arabic support as my unit came from EU? is there a way to flash an arabic rom when available without losing the ability to receive official updates in the future?
Basically, i just want to be able to read proper arabic test on my phone.
I have all sorts installed but still my contacts (i.e. when people ring) are displayed in broken text... oh well. there is an arabic ROM package but it costs £3.60!
You can use persian browser to read arabic connected letters

I was shocked when tried white-energy's Feather Desire HD Build with the 100% translated Serbian language. Tried some more ( Bulgarian, German ) and found them perfect too. While waiting for white-energy to support ext4 data partition on SD card I decided to try andrewf403's AF403 DesireHD rom. I've installed Gingerbread keyboard ( search Marketplace for "Keyboard from Android 2.3" ) there and got the same results as with Feather Desire HD Build. Now, the catch is ( thanks to xMareXx ) not to manualy choose your language ( you'll lose your location in Clock widget and get some more force-close issues this way ) but go thru Setup process again setting your language there. The keyboard itself isn't required and you may continue using default HTC or any other keyboard. Serbian keyboard from Gingerbread is Cirilic only so I'm using HTC's wich have very well supported Serbian latin characters. I didn't try this in other roms, but I'm sure it will work on Desire Z based roms too. If somebody try on Desire or Evo rom, please tell me the result.
i am using projections desire based NAND ROM.
sorry, i can't give any feedback for multilingual improvements that result due to installing the gingerbread keyboard as you have suggested. this is mainly because i am not a multilingual user so i don't know what to look for, neither will i understand any language i switch to for testing
but i just wanted to say thanks for the information about an EASY way to install a keyboard! sometimes, i don't think about the simpler ways! the installation experience this time was magnitudes better and easier than the last time i changed a keyboard (added droid x keyboard to phiremod's skinny evo some months ago).
I recieved my phone from repair in the uk from the 3network.
I have arabic built in also I am capable of tying arabic from the hardware keyboard.
If any developers would like to tell me which files would be needed for experiment on other handsets.
also which files will be needed for enabling arabic on the hardware keyboard.
many have enabled arabic on android handsets but were unable enable arabic from hardware keyboard also many have solved arabic in many app but certain apps the arabic wouldnt work.so I tink we have found a solution.
because I am selling my phone sooon.
I have a dell streak will any files from the x10 mini pro be helpful

First, you know that there is an Arabic keyboard that comes with this rom, right? If not, its pretty good. Try it out.
Regarding smart keyboard, first step is to enable smart keyboard in settings and then long press in a text editor area and change the input method. Did you miss any of these steps by any chance?

edit: thanks it worked, I missed the part of long press in a text editor..
I used to have Motorola milestone and never needed to do that..
really appreciate your help brother
Not sure if its a rom specific issue. When I send sms in cyrillic there are only asterisks displayed on the recipient's phone. Anybody knows how to fight that?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Is the recipient phone capable of showing cyrillic?
It's most probably a ROM-specific issue, I'm writing cyrillic pretty much every day and everything works (running VU 2.35).
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the recipient is capable.
MIUI only has English and Chinese in the list of available languages while the language pack was only installed for the keyboard. This same keyboard worked flawlessly on VU, so it probably is rom-specific. The question is - how to cure it ??
