Dose anyone know how to add more web ending to the keyboard only has .com .org .net .edg i have it set to English but its missing .co.UK and for some unknow reasoned I have a $ sign instead of a £ on the main keyboard.
Also some times you get the auto check and change to help with miss keying and then the next time its gone and no way of turning it on.

I agree with you about keyboard, but as HTC only issue WWE (world wide english) ROMs, they will never bother to do one just for the UK.
So we have to just keep tapping until we get to GB pound sign on page 2 of characters.
Probably the same wwe applies to 'co.uk', maybe there is a keyboard app somewhere that adds this.
Does anyone know?

I dont have any problems typing with the keypad in abc, or XT9 in Opera mini 4 at all; I dont know how different this is from Opera Mobile. Opera Mini is a java/midlet app and I think Opera Mobile is a full blown application. Hope this helps in your research.

I think this is a bug in the keypad because the same thing happened to me when I was writing an SMS the other day! I closed the SMS and terminated the messaging app and then reopened and it was fine. No idea what caused it...
Nope, and it's not the first Phone where the hardware keyboard only type numbers in opera mobile.
Asus Phones with T9 Keyboards have the same problem.
So seems to be really a opera problem.
Opera mini works because keyboard is handlet by the midlet manager (jbed on the star) and not by opera itself.
Getting the same issues on my 20 Key version also.
My keyboards is using the first character on the button for example in the address bar and I right say i.e. facebook
it will display 4a718oo6
I am getting this same same problem in IE on the device.
Say I want to check my mail at yahoo mail
Username filed keyboard works fine
Password field keyboard will act like it does in the address bar in Opera.
How are you guys entering details in the password filed are you not able to use the slide out keyboard for this?
same issue on my 20 key version. However, the browser DO work with keyboard on the touch screen. In essence, our input method just got narrow down to the ones onscreen. cannot use the slide out keypad.

Another difference is that Opera Mobile ($24 USD) allows you to save image from the browser whereas the mini (FREE) does not.
Same issue here. I have installed "Goodlink" on my DUAL - same Problem. I every good application (mail, calendar, notes etc.) you cannot use the keyboard.
Also Mozilla MINIMO hv the same problem.
When type something only number are displayed.

Interesting,, I thought it was just me, but my 20 key dual is the same as you describe. So far I've noticed only opera mini 4 is an issue and I've been using the on screen virtual kb for that.
I have same problem on my 16Key T-Mobile MDA Touch Plus. Hardware keyboard types numbers only in Opera Mobile, Composing/replying to email or sms. Very frustrating, have to use touch keyboard all the time.
If anyone has a fix for this, let us know!

It happens to me when im texting to, Orange Touch, unlocked to Tmobile. I find the easiest way around it is this:
After selecting reply to a text message and then opening the keyboard to type, close the text you were going to write.
Then find the text and click on reply again.
It should then let you type letters ok. (keep the keypad open)
Bit of a pain so a fix would be great but this is what im doing to work around it at the mo.
Im guessing if you have the keypad open then opening opera would solve it.

I am the same problem, 16key, problem is with VITO SMS CHAT. Not only does the 16key not work, but also the touch keypad doesnt work, it doesnt rotate the letters but types all. example: Pressing 5(j-k-L) three times consecutively, type J-K-L, where it suppose to type L only.
I have yet to try this with opera, but haven't installed it yet.
has anyone found a fix yet for the opera problem?
I've noticed that this problem doesn't occur when using the dutch vodafone stock rom...
I can't find the needed files.
Edit: O, it seems that the problem still exist in the addresbar... the problem with entering passwords is gone though....
I had the issue where it would only use the touchpad in the address bar on the native T-Mobile ROM.
I'm now using the Opal keyboard (patched for the Nike) and everything is fine.
I just downloaded the touchpal keyboard from the market but when i change my input to use it it only takes up about two thirds of the screen laterally and about one third less room vertically than the HTC ime. Im curious if this anyone else has this problem since using the beta version worked fine but the full one doesnt.

i think it might be something with the resolution of the build, i havent used just regular ion in a while i have been using zenulators cupcake builds, i might switch to the ion build just to see if it still does it there
sadly, same problem exists with ion.
the beta used to work great. i favored that for a couple weeks over the standard ion keyboard.
I'm still using the beta, good to know I shouldn't upgrade it.

if you set the resolution values to that in your default text it works fine, but what i did notice is it was really hard to get the screen calibrated right like that.
or you could use one of the hero builds they all use that resolution

I had the same problem while running Myn's MOD on my Vogue.
Try this...
Go into the Market and search "Touchpal" you will get results with a bunch of Chinese characters. *Don't let the Chinese characters fool you*.
Select the icon that looks like a hand (for me it was the second listing)
Download/install
Go to Settings/locale & text -->put a checkmark next to Touchpal Chinese Input
*No need to change the language back to English as it is default*
You CAN change any standard touchpal settings like layout
Activation for users who don't know...long tap on any input bar...then change your input to touchpal

HTC TP2 - T-Mobile US - WM 6.1 Prof
I loaded the HD2 swype on my phone. Works great except that when typing in the To: field of a message, the old HTC keyboard would suggest the nearest match right above the HTC keyboard. When using Swype it does not offer any suggested matchest for my To: email address. Does it work the same way with the HD2. Just wondering if it swype or the combination of swype and my phone (device/os/etc).

i know what you mean, i don't know of a fix, but if you swype the name, then delete the last letter the suggestions should come up.
Hi, so I took the plunge and ordered a unlocked Streak from UK today. And I was wondering if the stock keyboard has the special characters native to my language. It's not a big issue if it does not, but I am hoping they are there. I live in Norway and use " æ ø å " characters often. It's not a problem that the OS itself is in English, but I would love to have the possibility to write in my native language on it
Please give me a heads up if you know, and also a picture / description on how to find these characters if you can

I checked my streak, unfortunately there are no special characters that you needed.
However, surely you can download/search for an alternative keyboard which may contain the extra characters you need.
Ok, I was considering SlideIt anyway, since its the only keyboard with custom national skins, and I like the slide feature. To bad swype does not have Norwegian layout:-s

You can download language packs for SLIDEIT and they do do Norwegian and to be honest slideit is a lot better than swype
I use Scandinavian keyboard for writing Danish (supports danish, norweigian, swedish etc), requires additional dictionary in the case of danish but works really well.
layout is nice enough, has the special characters, and with the dictionary does predictive text and autocorrect etc

I installed swype 1.47.24.6828.t100. Page I downloaded this soft from said that it was a version for QVGA. Sadly it does not work :/ I'm waiting patiently for someone to figure out what to do.
Swype installed correctly but despite enabling swype in language&keyboard in settings I could see swype keyboard. I don't know if it's because of HTC sense or something.

Remember, when you have installed and enabled a new keyboard, you need to "switch to it" too. That you do when e.g. typing a sms message. Then you hold down your finger on the text area, and in the bottom menu "input method" or something like that you have to select swype.
I haven't tried it for myself, because I own a Desire, but sounded like you didn't switch to swype

That's exactly what I needed to do.
So as you said you need to:
1) install swype from apk
2) enable swype in languages&keyboard
3) start typing message. hold finger on typing area and select "input method". Select swype and voile - you can type in swype. In the beginning there is a tutorial on how to use swype.
My version was for QVGA but it still said I have an incorrect screen size - despite this it worked fine!

If you use a google and write to "search box" a Swype 1.54 for qvga, first link will be right.
Now the first link isn't right. You have to choose third or fourth link now.

Here is the skype application i downloaded on my 3 uk firmware. I cant guarentee it will work on a non 3 uk firmware though.

Huh? Skype? Are they even the same on the first place?
It works fine,full screen too. Try it if you need skype.
We're talking about Swype, not Skype.
