Hello every one ..
i overclocked my htc desire HD just to see what i could get out of it ..
if i went further than 1536 it would crash ...
And to be honest i dont need it, i just tought it would be fun
i uploaded af video with the benchmark ..
Check it out: youtube.com/watch?v=PPRq4vTNB3Y
Im running 1460 now.. and im more than happy with that
PS. im not verified by moderator .. so i had to remove some of the link
youtube.com/watch?v=PPRq4vTNB3Y
BTW:
AWESOME WORK MATE!!
so your max now is 1460.
how about the min?
any of you guys who use this had discover an optimum min value? (i.e save on battery drain)
Getting past 1459 MHz is an achievement.
Im running 1459 -100mA havent tried to push it past that, but a lot of people can't.
@roopney you use setCPU min setting 245 MHz and set scaling on demand.
is there a dummies guide for this and also how does it affect battery temp and battery life

Yes, i put my max to 1460 .. But when i did the bench i was @ 1536 or so ..
i dont need to overclock that high ..
i dont even need the overclock .. but its fun , and it doesnt hurt

Dont look for a dummies guide ..
READ and learn .. i did the same at first.. was looking for a quick guide and tought for my self " i dont need to learn, just make it work "
but really.. read and learn .. you'd love it when you actually know what you are doing

there are different ways brother , you need to basically install softwares like Omap or there is a different one which is slightly advanced ,also give you battery status info.....
but make sure you not boost it up more that 40 % of your default clock speed as it is not reccomended...................

hi
this is just for ur info ie if u value ur phone i do have this omap my 3400i as im using sumits vanilamanila but i was told that over cloking could damage ur phone so do be carefull ask around and then do it

You can safely overclock your CPU upto 20% of your CPU speed that is upto 240MHz. But its better to use CPU scalar as that saves battery life.
Overclock

Would you mind telling me where to get these utilities?
i tried two times for overclocking and my sim card got corrupted both time.
so in my case it kills sim card.

Whoa..
Heard that first time..
Had once overclocked mine upto 240Mhz for some 15 min or so..
The phone is quite responsive then but drains battery fast and gets hot fast..
Over clocking is good but not recommended becoz it degrades the Battery life and heating of phone and circuit board...!!
overclocking is vry dangerous......it can harm ur gene,so be carefull while overclocking ur gene......
If someone does overclock, then do share your experience as its dangerous so share if you did it successfully.

LV or SV? I am taking it you are using Faux's kernel in that case LV means low voltage and SV means stock voltage. Which has more to do with power efficacy as lower voltage will be more battery consumption friendly. Far as the OC thing goes they are both sharing same enchantment as they don't differentiate. So try LV first and if it does not bootup as not all chips are same then try SV.
thanks for the info and yes they both load up fine
but in LV my phone isnt that hot as it is in SV
weird? because u say LV eats up more battery so its working more right?
idk but thx good info nice benchmark score
what would be the best scaling for overclock
i run performance at 1.84 the whole day seems to be working fine
but like to here info from anybody

I know i'm going to stand alone on this one.
Unless you are trying to prove something to someone or get stupid high Quadrant scores there is no real reason for overclocking your phone.
I'd recommend backing down from 1.84 and using something less than 1.5.

No I said LV uses less power where SV is using little higher voltage. If you want balanced device I would recommend you use LV. Far as scaling to max @1843mhz all the time goes it will have adverse effect in long run. BTW only reason your phone is running hot is because you have it scaled at max frequency.
HKM said:
Well yes if you OC you are in danger of frying the SoC due to heat as you might know from middle school when thinks are hot they expend and when its cool they contract. So this consent extend/contract cycle has impact and can fry or crack the circuit in long run thus limiting the life expectancy.
Now that being said OC does have its power more for us its the control so we can manually increase the power when needed like I do to conserve battery power and underclock it when power is not needed as it will waste battery. Based on how you have setup you can setup mCPU profiles but make sure when its idle (screen off) you have the lowest min frequency selected.

No we all share that as no need to scale to max when not needed that way you only kill more battery and slowly wear out the SoC. lol but ya if you are showing off your phone to your friend then scale it other than that I don't see what anyone need to run at MAX scale for 24/7. I personally have my setup underclocked.
wow thx for clearing it up
yes max is on 24/7 for couple more days
just testing how well it can work
so ill guess ill stick with LV for now
since ill be out IT'S FRIDAY

Hello this is my second post.
I downloaded yesterday the app "WinMoSpeed" and i am wondering how far i can go with overclocking. I really don't want that my blackstone bricks. So what is a safe level of mhz i can set ? Currently it's set to 576,0 Mhz, but i don't know if that's too high or too low so i can go further. Please help .
hi, i have pushed my blackstone at 730mhz, but sometimes hangs, and I need to softreset.
Using it a 653 mhz works fine for me, but depends a lot on hardware, someone can overclock much more than others.
I do not think it could brick your device, only thing it could happen is a device hangs, you can solve it with a soft reset.
I've installed the overclock software on sd card, so if you mess up something you need just restart your device without the sd card and the frequency is set to default.
Hope i'd help.
bb
PS. I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSABILITY IF YOU OVERCLOCK YOUR DEVICE AND DO SOME DAMAGE.
In my experience safe overclock speeds for everyday use are 595 to 633. No overheating. No lockups.
Also it will not have a significat impact on your battery life.
Hi it's running at 710 mhz now, but my battery drains like hell. Is it because overclock or S2U2 ? I installed S2U2 at the same time with overclock.
In my opinion if it's for 100MHz it's really not worth the shot
Also, if you're also using Android maybe you wanna check out this thread:

710 MHz it's quite a OC, of course your battery it will drain a lot. I think that on about 650 MHz it enough for a snappier device and for a good battery life.
hope i help.

Take in mind that probably you will shorten the CPU life.
I tested on 614 MHz with no notable battery draining. It's about a 15~20% more than standard 528 MHz so I think it's enough to the poor Blackstone.
BUT I ALSO tried to create other "underclock" settings, so that when I sleep or rest, I leave the device "resting" like me (I need the phone running 24h/24). I tried that it will run not far of 200 MHz and I hope this will help the Blackstone life.

Hi, I'm not the best person to answer, but I think the android versions for this phone already comes with overclocking. Because the mobile phone quite warm at the bottom (like when we overclocked), and when I'm on windows mobile and pitch for the android when it is overclocked it will not let me open the andoid, a freeze of the mobile phone and need restart.
But what I think is probably a person becomes more knowledgeable than me to answer.
is possible overclock in android 2.2.2 with set cpu in the blackstone? thanks
Has anyone overclocked the Froyo build?
What's safe?
i was having a problem when playing hd games .... the device got very hot and the battery temp reaches about 45
finally i solved this problem using tegrak to set cpu speed to 200 min : 800 max
no heat any more
but i need to ask is it safe to change it in games only and return it normal (1200 mhz) all times and return it back to 800 when playing games ??
Shouldn't be a problem doing that, the game might Not be as smooth or whatever though. 45 is not too high by the way, it's just scary because you can actually feel the heat on this phone more than others...

but it is a great feelings that ur phone is still cool after one hour of playing
and the game still smooth as usual no any difference
and now i m running stability test it reached 46 minutes and nothing wrong
but my Q is if i returned it to normal after gaming and return it again to 800 when playing games is there any problem or what ..... i just notice very slight difference in loading but not in performing so i dont want this difference in loading i want to use the full power of the device without heat
Jeez pal, you underclocked the CPU because temp was 45°C! What was the problem if it were 50/52 or even 55°C? Playing game is a CPU intensive task, so the phone will be hot than any other things (benchmarking included) and that is very NORMAL.
Regards.

i knwo it is normal but it is very annoying
the battery temp is 45 and may be more "48 or even 50 " and the processor temp is more for sure and the phone is very hot as it is very thin and i know it is normal but it is annoying to me and to others so i think this is a slotion for this problem
but my Q is if i returned it to normal after gaming and return it again to 800 when playing games is there any problem or what

By the way guys if u have KH3 stock rom then u have the option to under clock ur device by default
Haha very nice & neat option to save battery life & cool down the handset.
It cap the cpu on 800 mhz, I addition to under clicking the gpu as well (which kernels don't do)

u do this all the time "800 mhz" or when gaming only ?? as i prefer to leave it 1200 mhz all the time and only while games and intensive use as gps underclock to 800 te decrease heat and battery use
but need 1200 mhz performance in normal processing to perform faster

I only untick this box when I fancy:
1- rapidly discharging (battery calibration thing)
2- Showing off the amazing speed of this wonderful device
Otherwise 800 would do every other simple task like ( calling, email, games, browsing...etc)

That option does halve the GPU/graphics frame rate from 60 to 30 though, which may not be what you want in a graphics based game.

no harm in lowering the clock speed, the game just won't run as smoothly. the temps of this phone do feel alarmingly high due to the (lack of) thickness.
if it runs fine at 800mhz thats good. undervolt it too and enjoy gaming just that little bit longer

thats not really
if u tried to put it on max 800 mhz and tried benchmark u will find that the frame rate that are shown on the corner of screen during benchmark test reaches 60 and more than 60 and the lowest number shown was 50 or 48 and the total score is about 2700
if u remember the galaxy 1 or hts dhd never reached this score only if overlocked and these devices was playing games well with single core processors 1 ghz
so a dual core with 800 mhz with a 4 cores in gpu ....... powerfull result

I am not talking about setCPU here, I am talking about that Samsung "System power save" mode that KH3 has as an option. It definitely halves the gpu rate.
Running quadrant with that option off sees 60 frames/sec, running it with that option enabled sees only 30 frames/sec and if you look at the help/tips for that option you can see what it does (well, they don't give much away about what it does mind u).
Geez....
I have a car that does 150MPH. Is it safe to do only 60MPH?
It does get less hot and uses less power.
