[FIX][Update] HTCCamera APK for Shutter Sound,Thunder Cloud & real 5MP - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

If you are using the EVO based build, you can ignore this thread.
This fix is ONLY for Desire based build with EVO's Camera application.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FIX IF YOU ARE USING THE EVO BASED BUILD.
First!!
After i fix the real 5MP capture in HTCCamera, i have also fix the Thunder Cloud Review window in HTCCamera today.
The fix APK is including the real 5MP fix and correct review window after you capture.
There is no more thunder & cloud strange picture again. You can also do some actions, like Share,Delete,Goto Media Gallery or Capture again.
What's the fix
1.fix the Thunder Cloud Review Window
2.fix the real 5MP
3.fix the Shutter Sound , if you use my old file, please download it again(Update @2010/11/07)
I have only test in Desire base, OTA 2.29
How to install it?
The APK CAN NOT INSTALL into your HD2 Android.
You have two way to install this fix.
Make sure your /system is Rear/Write not Read Only.
1. Putting the HTCCamera.apk into your HD2 SD Card using File Explorer with root access, copy the fixed HTCCamera.apk to /system/app and overwrite the original one, if you can find HTCCamera.odex in the /system/app, please delete it. In order to prevent the default shutter sound, you have delete(or rename) the camera_click.ogg in system. Go to /system/media/audio/ui and find out the camera_click.ogg, delete it or rename it.
I suggest you can use a Free root File Explorer called "Super Manager". The software you can search it on Market by "Super Manager" or "gpc". It is my design. It can help you move the fixed APK file into /system/app.
2. Using shell command
Code:
adb push HTCCamera.apk /system/app
adb shell rm /system/app/HTCCamera.odex
adb shell rm /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
If you use it in your release build, CREDITS, thanks
How to use it?
First, you have using the last EVO-bases kernel and the attachment APK file.
After installing it, you just have to launch the Camera.
If you are lucky, you can enjoy the new real 5 Mega pixel camera without Thunder Cloud right now. You don't have to reset you HD2-Android.
Enjoy it!!
If the fix is helpful, you can donate to me. thanks

Awesome!
Thanks a lot. I've been looking for something like this for quite a while.

Oh yes !
Thanks a lot !

Thanks for your work. now fix HD recording
(i know its codec related)

i have tried this but it just disable review after photo taking, is it something wrong?

Worked like a charm for me. thanks.
I used Android Commander to copy the file, I tried using super manager like you said but it would copy the file incorrectly to 0.00k, weird.
Anyway works now.

Thanks man. Works great.
Great Job

Tested Work 100%
Thanks

Does this fix the widescreen picture at 5mpx resolution. I don't think so
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Any one having this resolution with this?
2592*1944 (Real 5 Mega Pixel)
How is it possible?
I did as mentioned in the first post, cloud at preview has been successfully fixed, but I didn't get the real 5 mega pixel. I desire it!
Can some one please help me?

After replacing my Camera app I now have no camera app at all! I tried 3 or 4 times, downloaded the file twice and used 2 different root explorers, including the one suggested.
Anyone know what could be causing this?
I am using a Desire-based build for Tmo-US, and I upgraded the kernel to Hastarin r8 before attempting this.
EDIT: Nevermind, switched builds now fix is already applied

works for me!
Hiya, first a big thanks for this one, seems to work perfectly, getting full 5mp (2592 x 1944) res photo's without the cloud stuff, review window works well, seems to keep to the 5 second timeout i put in settings for it too.. replaced original file with android commander btw, just make sure u got usb debugging mode on for that to work
one more request though: could you also fix the setting for shutter sound? i've tried setting it off/on, but the sound remains on no matter what the setting says.. i don't know if that's kernel related (though i don't think so), so that would be really nice if u could fix that as well
working with darkstone froyostone 3.2 with hastarin r8 + letama's pppd wrapper v0.3 here
edit: been trying some more settings, and it seems that setting the camera to widescreen just stretches the photo to widescreen, the picture looks squashed compared to what u see in the viewfinder(screen) before u take the photo. doesn't seem to be the case for the 4:3 mode though, taking pictures there just gives nice unsquashed photos

Perfect !
Thank for your hard work !
But how to ZOOM ?!

We don't have HTC customize camera library.
The camera library in your HD2 is based on Nexus One with some modify. It is impossible to fix the widescreen and face detection in HD2 HTC [email protected] without the HTC customize camera library for HD2.
I think it is very hard for us to get the camera library.
If we can get the HTC customize camera library source (NOT the current library with the open source,Nexus One), we can modify it to work in HD2.
However, how can we get the source code?
Maybe somebody can be a thief and steal the source code from HTC office

I remember 1 of the version from darkstone ROM, the camera face detection is working fine. But i can't recall which version is that.

Barcode Scanner hack for Desire ICS

Hi,
I have compiled a "hacked" version of ZXing Barcode Scanner application. Current ICS camera (from Desire ICS v.0.3.6) does not support "preview shots" function. This hack uses "take Picture" instead. It is not as stable and fast as original version. But it reads codes if you are patient enough.
Just sharing what I have.
I will update this post when I have some better revisions available.
All credits for this amazing software to ZXing team
Have fun!
Log:
Code:
27-01-2012: Fixed camera "flash" function,
now it uses a proper flash when taking a picture of barcode for decoding.
Small changes in picture format conversion, giving slightly better results.
23-01-2012: Minor tuning. Do not write images to disk. Gives a little faster processing.
22-01-2012: Original hack.
Mi qr camera is not working (that's the reason im here), any chances to have the apk so we can try to install it?

Qr Camera seems to be a different application. I changed the original ZXing Barcode Scanner. I used the original Open Source to do that. And it looks that any Qr Scanner is not open source (at least I am not able to find it to be). And I am not any expert on re-engineering. You may have to wait until Desire gets a properly working camera drivers for ICS or you need to find another software...
Works for me. Nice work!
Works great for me.
Nice work.
Great.Excellent work
Works like a charm. Thnx!
WOW ! It works. Thanks !
works great, thx!
Nice work, thanks a lot - works great with the BCM ICS rom. QR codes are pretty much the only thing I use the camera for, it was quite bad having it broken on an otherwise near perfect system.
Thank you sir. Worked.
Works great thanx
great
Super!!!
THX
Works well!
just annoying that g play tells me I should update.
Could you rename the app or something so g play does not recognize this as the normal zx ing barcode scanner?
Thanks

No, sorry, I won't do that. It IS ZXing application and I won't make any changes to "re-identify" it differently.
I don't really understand why do you have to update it.
I have switched off all the automatic updates (and notifications) on my phone. Consumes less battery and it is much less annoying
Doing updates when I think I want to do that (in a controlled way) is much more safe and comfortable IMHO.
In addition, anyone who upgrades ICS to a newer version (whenever ICS camera gets completely fixed) can update the application in a native way instead of uninstalling, reinstalling, reconfiguring...

Solution 4 unlimited video record on android record over 4gb and no time restricted

Hi All,
i found solution for unlimited recording on android device, it has pros and cons so hopefully some programmer will come and modify the buildin camera apk.
here are solutions they are working perfects but the problem is the quality is no where close to the buildin cam apk.
1. lgCamera
2. Snap Camera HDR
3. moto x camera apk its free and in my opinion its quality better than the other 2.
so the problem of limited recording is not due to format fat32, because htc on buildin cam apk record 30 minutes and stops and its size is 4gb, but i have tried lgcamera was recording over an hours and its size was 5.7gb.
i do not keep it long, i hope some programmer modify htc one cam apk to record unlimit or auto splitted to 30 minutes duration, also modify its zoom default to the value of 50% because htc one cam is way zoomed out.
so if any genius person modify the camera apk then it will be best solution, it just need to override the default camera apk setting when some one modifying its camera apk.
some time when we have party i do not like to go and modify zoom setting and start record again every half an hour.
Thanks for any programmer who modify this and good luck with the rest for temporary solution.
Hi,
snap camera records 30fps with 20mbit in low light, but the result is darker then htc stock camera.

starbase64
I could be off here, but since you said recording stops at 30 minutes, I think I have a solution:
In /system/etc/media_profiles.xml, there is a "duration=" setting for each encoder profile. This can be set to either 30 or 60, and currently all profiles except qvga are set to 30. You may be able to set this to 60 and be able to record up to 60 minutes. Report back.

You do realise that routinely changing the zoom is a terrible idea on the One?
It's a digital zoom, not an optical one, so all you are doing by zooming in is losing pixels - this is fine if you are shooting something and wish to zoom in for effect, but as a general rule if you want to get the best quality out of the camera, you should leave zoom well alone. This is especially true of the One as it doesn't have that many pixels to play with in the first place.

if i need to root my device then i will try to do it later today as my connection is very slow right now.

Thank you Dave,
i will test to video one with zoomin at let say 40% and other will let zoom alone but i will crop the video to equivalent of 40% zoomin video, i will compare the 2 side by side and will report back the result.

yes you'll need to be rooted. you don't need to do anything with media_codecs.xml. Just media_profiles.xml.

zoomin htc one
hello Dave,
i have tested the video, i captured 2 video phone was at stable position, one without touching zoom and the other shoot was zoomed about 60%
then i cropped the one with 0 zoom to the same frame as the one with 60% zoom.
the result is as follows:
after cropping the video file from 1920 x 1080 became 775 x 425 well if i keep this size the file remain same quality but when i cropped back to
1920 x 1080 the quality is blury and no where near the original or the video was shooted with 60% zoomin.
so i believe the zoomin in htc one does not effect its quality as long as you are not zoomed extreme.
when you crop video and resized you will lose quality the same as zoomin, but all camcorders allow certain zoom without affecting quality, so i believe htc one zoomin is the same, but some video camera have advanced zoomin to go beyond limited for instance 72x advanced zoomin and the normal zoomin is 20x, so if you go beyond 20 you still zoomin further but you will lose quality and shaky footage.so the safe is to stay with 20x range.
all edited with after effects and even i did not export the out put, but after editing them compared them side by side, it is like day and night the quality differences between the 2 videos.
thank you though for information, i will try first to root my device and see if i can go beyond the limited recording.

hello again
i have changed those number to 60
i started from
<!ATTLIST EncoderProfile duration (60|60) #REQUIRED>
and each
<EncoderProfile quality="cif" fileFormat="mp4" duration="60">
so as you see all are in 60 minutes but no luck sofar i tried twice
1st record 25:39
2nd attempt records 26:04
both size are 3.79 gb in size
now i started recording again to see what is the the outcome if it is the same then i have to try to changed back to 30 at least its 30minutes, so i think it is the size limit thing
update: it is size limit issue, i checked again it says video size limit is reached.
i think it is be useful if some one try to write a code to state when ever the video reach limited time then start again automatically.
but thanks for the advice, i will let you know if i come with better solution..
thank you.

zindu

Sorry - that was just a theory anyway. I'll keep looking around for something else that might be limiting the file size.

Hi guys, this seems to be the only real discussion on this issue going on at all.
Has anyone been able to find a way around this limitation?
the problem is there are many know how to solved but they do not shared with us.
only who does not know and they spread a word over the net and same crap like, it is due to format type, let me tell you i have solved mine on htc one no problem what so ever until i stopped manually.
i am not a programmer but currently when i have time i try to learn java then i will after that develop simple app and progressing from there and will help the community but that take up to 1 to 2 years.
any way how i solved mine? i do not know my self but i did 2 things will shared with all of you.
1. i rooted my htc one device, there is plenty guide on this forum.
2. i decompile my camera apk and i change a picture and i can not remember if i mess little with codes or not but i doubt i did, so i deleted the original camera apk and replaced with my modification.
i will be glad to share my camera apk with you if you think it might be due to this modifications, i tell you what? i never update the system software now, because i am afraid i will lose the unlimited recording, so it works for me but i do not know how, but in future when i understand java programming i will help every one in this community.

Zindu, thank you so much for sharing.
I emailed Google about this here is the response I got:
"Thank you for contacting Google. I appreciate your patience with me as I look into this issue. It seems as though the limit placed on the video data file of 2gb is written into the android operating system. This is in effect on all types of android devices.
I have researched a few video control apps, they follow the same rule and stop at 1.9-2gb. At this time I do not believe there is a work around for this issue. I do not have software update information available either. Some of the research I have done points to a possible legislative law that limits the video recording time of mobile devices as it takes away from video recorders."
pal first thing you do undock the cam apk from the bar dock on your phone, see if it is working, what i mean by the dock is the bar on your phone on the bottom which have space for 4 or 5 applications, so undock cam apk from this dock and used on the main windows view.
if that does not work root ur phone and undock cam apk from dock bar.
if both does not work then if you have htc one i will upload my cam apk so you can install it on urs.
mine was limited to 4gb now its unlimited in size and durations, a programmer can develop application to over ride the camera system settings, so if i learn java in future my first apk will be try to over ride system setting.

I have a Nexus 5. My camera app is not docked. What should I do next?
if its not docked then rooted anyway see if it works?
what i did i undocked, rooted, modified a pick and some codes in xml file, and it works for me so i do not know which step caused the fix, but you need to root your device if you want to replace system application on your phone.
try to root your device first and try to modify xml file see if it works, if it was htc one i could help because i can upload xml and apk file.
that is all i know for now hope someone who have better knowledges to help you out but i hope i learn java within a year or too then i be able to fix this issue.

Ikr, it is pretty ridiculous. Zindu is right though, it's simple enough but the people who can figure it out don't care. Most people just don't seem to need their phone for our purpose.
My workaround has been SVR Pro:
-Upsides -It will record in fragments until your storage is full.
-You can use your device while recording
-You can record with the screen turned off !! which is epic for battery life!
-Downside -you loose like a second of video between the fragments

Slim6 port for R1-HD **CAMERA_Almost_FIXED**

Know issues:
1. Bluetooth toggle will not turn on
2. video codec makes first 10-15 seconds of video only green screen--(not noticed so much after install gapps and using chrome browser)
3. Camera not working
Resolved*
*testing phone had stock camera app disabled and was using open camera. With stock camera multiple crashes and unable to connect issue with camera. V3.5 has removed stock camera and added open camera to priv-app (preinstalled)
4. Microphone is also not working
V3.5 has fixed microphone.
5. video recording not working
V3.7 fixed video record for back camera only--also seems to have stabilized photo camera--(but still has crashed)
V-x-4.1 minor edits. Removed old renamed files. Removed apps and libs for fingerprint scanner. Swapped apns-config.xml from V21 to try get connection for more carriers. But it seems some devices are not able to even see imei from board V4.1 removed. Audio broken
x-v-4.6 has audio streaming partly functioning. Audio/ video plays some amount of time then stops. but will continues if playing through bluetooth. Further testing on speaker needed. Audio issue notIS present in FMRadio and unknown in phone. So far only in streamingMOST SOUND situations, like music apps and YouTube.
Also list of added apps primarily added for testing reasons
1. GPS test
2. AudioRecorder
3. File_Manager _es_file V3 (fewer ads)
4. OpenCamera
V5.0
removed extra fingerprint program, added MDDB folder (base band) trying to resolve 2 reports of lost IMEI on this rom. I have not had issue, so cannot confirm if adding these files has fixed problem.

Yes, the original locations listed in the script are to your /home dir.
I imported all but a few of the libs listed. The ones left out were *nvram*, related and one for "fs_mgr". one of them caused the rom to freeze at boot with the pop up message "starting apps". Left it there for 20 minutes first time. then started removing libs untill it booted again.
I was hoping to find what you did to make the camera work in zenUI. and that camera.sh was big help, but did not get the camera going. By itself.
I have been using diff to compare the lib folder in zenrom to 6.6 (because 6.6 was used to port zen, i think) and then compare Slim lib folder. I compiled lists of different files, identical files, missing files. All this has not gotten me any closer yet.
so far I have (as long as I didn't miss any) swapped in all the libs that were identical between zen and 6.6 to this slimrom using V21 as donor, only seemingly to have no effect.
After I run out of libs to swap in I am out of ideas.
I know it has been said fixing camera on cm/ lineageOS 14 (android 7) is not possible yet. But I thought is was possible on android 6
Camera Is Fixed*
I now have camera working on this slim port...
uploading built/port number 33 (X-3.3)
still needs small bug fixed, that will not screen cast to chromecast.
and first time I opened camera I did not have any on-screen navigation buttons(no way to exit camera). after some time buttons were available and next time it opened normal.

I believed the newer libs might fix the camera, that was the reason, I bought a cheap R1HD from eBay, but the phone didn't work so couldn't test.
Anyway it seems they did, so that's good.

the final step was to use the stock "system\lib\hw\camera.mt6735.so" but rename it to "system\lib\hw\camera.mt6737m.so"
i found that when I was trying to change the build.prop to show "6735" on platform but phone would not boot like that. So i got thinking any file needed that had 6735 in the name would also not work,

Yes, ROM is built for 6737, R1HD and Life Max are almost the same phone, difference size, camera and 6737 instead of 6735.
Anyway good job.

It's been stable and smooth for me, I have not had any force closes, reboots, or any odd behavior. I would call it a good daily.

Nice, ill think about installing it then.
Will the camera fix potentially help with android 7 roms?

I do not think the camera fix here will help 7.
These lib files, "so" files, "blobs", call them as you will. Are still for Android 6 so , as I believe will not work on 7

I know benchmarks don't mean a whole lot but they can give an idea of performance so could you provide some benchmarks for comparison? just trying to decide if I should switch to the rom or not

They would be the same or about the same, a rom doesn't increase benchmarks, a custom kernel might, benchmarks have their place this isn't one of them.
To each their own I guess.

1080p and 60 FPS on the OnePlus 2?

Hello Guys,
is there any way to get 60 FPS on the OnePlus 2 with 1080p?
I searched a bit in xda, but i didnt find anything helpful.
Is there a rom or a mod that can enable this feature?
Cause its supported by the hardware..
Thank you for help!
There is a thread that points to it. Look harder
Yeah i found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/enable-60fps-video-recording-t3424628
But i dont understand how it works, i dont get the instruction.
I was hoping there would be another way to do it, like a custom rom that supports it from the beginning.
It's simply.
WORKING ON MM and N
Go to the system / vendor / lib folder and look for libmmcamera5648.so and libmmcamera13860.so and rename them .bak. Then copy these files to the same folder and give them the permissions rwrr (0644) with root explorer, restart et voila.
I wrote about 60 fps as for front and rear camera

Thank you for the post! I researched a bit too and tried out similar Versions in combination with FreeDCam. There are several issues, so i would like to ask you, with which Rom do you use this and with which camera app?

Gcam recomendations for V35

Are any v35 users using a gcam mod? If so, can you share which one and your experiences?
Well for 5-th branch hands down the best one is GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-18c1.apk and can be found here
Regarding 6-th latest Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.7.190716.1800 by Arnova works flawlessly with this XML config.
On a project fi v35, the GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-18c1.apk was too laggy for me. I ran 01.MGC_6.1.021_G7_test_v1.apk and was able to snap pictures with front and rear, but the 02.MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova_TlnNeun_04.02.19.12.54.apk crashed on launch.
Will post a logcat once i can.
Have you properly applied the XML setting (step 8) after installing MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova_TlnNeun_04.02.19.12.54.apk?
Lag in viewfinder is cause by overloaded buffer in this version which is easily fixable either by applying XML as shown or by enabling the Buffer Fix switch in app Settings.
Nope, after installing the 02 apk, it crashes on launch so I don't get the chance. Tweaked settings w/ the other one and got it working at least, thanks!
You are welcome!
N.B.: If you want to have it working you need to follow the guide up to the letter, so whenever you get bored and want to try again just uninstall the current GCAM, restart your phone and start again.
Do not forgot to take again 2 pictures after installing 1st apk and to properly import the XML settings after installing the 2nd apk and starting it for the first time.

Same problem, I can't do step 8 because the camera crashes when trying to open.
I have LG V30+ H930DS, and I use this two Gcams.
One is 90% wokring (maybe panorama doesnt work) but all other is perfect (wide, noraml, portrait front/back, HDR+, SlowMotion) and its fast. (To chagne between lenses, just hold switch button, it will redirect to settings, after you close settings lense will be changed.
The other one I use only for NightSight. This camera has problem with selfies, they have green tint. It also have Wide/Normal switch, ( just chage between selfie and back camera, and each time ju go back to main camera it will be diferent lense)
I'm satisfied with this phone, for me everything is perfect, but i found LG V35 for good price and I would like to konw if there is somebody with V35 who will try this two Gcams, and tell me does they work properly, or if there is some others which works good, because i wouldn't change V30 for v35 if I can't have good working Gcam.

Thank you for the link. I downloaded, installed and restored the supplied config file for my V35.
Regarding Night Sight, is there a setting to change to fix the choppy motion when moving around the viewfinder?
No way for now on improving Night Sight viewfinder lag.

where is step 8 described? I can find no reference on how to apply this xml config.
Step 8 originates from really old installation guide.
Now you need only to install the camera apk and import the xml settings file.
Where/how to extract the xml file and how to import it afterwards you can check here

Thanks. I must have been downloading wrong version, since double clicking didn't work. Tried again this morning and it works now.
After applying the xml fix to v6.1 camera, it works, but I wouldn't call it "good". It's super annoyingly slow to make pictures. 5.2 also lags substantially, and won't load xml settings. So far, lg camera is hands down better
so... MGC_6.2.030_MI9SE_V4_plus2.apk has been the only version for me that has worked without issue...problem is pictures are not clear. although the viewfinder is fixed with the buffer fix toggle, when taking photos its not quick therefore the pictures blur slightly.
do you all encounter the same and if not which version and configuration has given you a fast shutter?
Here is what I posted on arnova's thread with the suggestion of another member.

thanks...i Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk works for my V35 as it seems BF means it has the buffer fix built in. shame it doesn't allow for zero shutter lag as for phones that don't need a buffer fix. as the OEM camera can take photos super fast.
here are my settings for my LG V35 on Pie on Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk
back camera: Pixel 3 XL
front camera: Nexus 6P
AWBGains Mod: OFF, was causing GREEN photos with it on
RAW FORMAT: RAW_SENSOR
Image Format: JPEG (if i set YUV_420_488 GCam crashes)
P3 wide-color, Wide Color gamut
playing around with Custom Lib Repo by cstark and with Eszdman v2.6 beta 2
image quality is awesome, and no blur upon shutter snap as with other GCams! Thanks @arnova!

Hey everyone, I'm currently exploring some gcam options and I found that the latest Arnova Gcam works great with no lag (it does take a bit longer to capture a photo than it does on my sd820 device) but sadly it doesn't offer wide camera mode.
Now, there is the cstark camera and wide angle mode actually does work, but using the camera is impossible because the preview (you know, the thing you see on your screen before you take a picture) changes once every 5 seconds or something. I tried importing some xmls and that sped it up just a bit but not by much.
Is there some working version that was tested for v35? My v35 is Korean model

I get terrible stutter on the night site with this 6-th and the config file. Any fixes?
You need to be on Pie and you can use Gcam_6.2.030 with working Night Sight without lag.
