Don't know . It's different from before , I think before it was smoother ..

I had the same experience. Did a hard reset after the ROM flash and now it´s back to normal.

Do you used the latest Stock ROM in combination with HSPL sir?

Meiyo, you are right. I have FIVE HD2 handsets, including for me and my colleagues which we bought simultaneously (it was with ROM 1.48). Four of us updated to ROM 3.14.720.3 on 5th November and ALL the four of us are WITNESSING this "weird scrolling" specially while scrolling programs (>Start). This is however CAN BE CORRECTED with suitable registry tweaks. (Its here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629388)
In fact not just scrolling, there are atleast 2 major other bugs too:
1). Camera NOW has a YELLOW tinch, which is even more conspicuous with AUTO FLASH on.
2). The Long Press End Key (power off) is many a times UNRESPONSIVE (actually it is responding with a significant lag), such that when we long press it once it does not respond however when we press it immediately again, it then pops up the power off menu.
I have already reported these bugs to HTC and am awaiting their feedback.

Thank you for the respond.
I too have upgraded from ROM 1.48.
Haven't noticied the yellow tinch , but got bigger problem with the camera , Most of the time when I open it it , It gives me this message : " Unable to start thus program because there is not enough free memory. Please close some other programs and try again." And I don't have any programs opened during this !

Free memory problems are caused by the user not by HTC!
Way?
Like I mentioned before the latest stock ROM (3.14) isn't compatible with HSPL!
So remove HSPL and flash stock ROM 3.14 again.

[REPORT] Phone "locked" into sleep, display/ring off

This has happened three times since when I own the HD2 (less than a month), so it's definitely seldom.
I try and turn on the display, usually by pressing the power button, and instead of seeing the lock screen, the only thing that happens is that the hardward buttons light up for the preset time, but the display is off, and there's no way to turn it on. Trying to call myself results in either getting a "user unreachable" response, or a ringing tone form the dialing phone, but no sign of life whatsoever on the HD2.
Only way to solve it is opening the cover and reinserting the battery (stupid and useless reset button).
I never tried to drag the "invisibible" lock switch where it is suppsoed to be, to see if I can unlock the device anyway.
Am I the only one it happened to?
Just for the record, these were the occasions when it happened:
1) Checking the phone after a "tasks" reminder was supposed to go off (and didn't)
2) Checking the phone when I knew it had very little battery left
3) Just now, phone is at 67%, wasn't doing anything particular, maybe I had totalcommader with registry plugin opened, but didn't change anything in the registry
I have had this problem many times. I never had it on 1.66 wwe rom but recently flashed to a 2.07 cooked rom and started experiencing. was so frustrating. I have now flashed to another rom - fingers crossed. Which rom are u using btw?
I had the "sleep of death", when it won't wake up from idle, a few times when my HD2 was on the original 1.48 WWE Hong Kong ROM. Now, after flashing to HSPL and using Merlion LEO v1.90 and flashing the radio to 2.07.50.27_2, it's been much faster, smoother and super stable.
I've had it a few times too, but I *think* I haven't seen it again since flashing my current ROM.
I can confirm this happening on the OZRom 1.20.
Very frustrating lock up!
Same thing on ROM Xanny Evolution 1.3.207, Radio : 2.08.50.05
Same thing just once on 1.48 ROM

I am using a custom rom based on 2.02 (if I remember correctly)
Never had this problem on the previous shipped 1.48 ITA, but then I've been using custom roms for most of the time so maybe it's just chance

I thought about posting in that thread instead of starting my own, but in my case the "sleep" regards just the display, the hardware buttons light up, the phone appears to be receiving calls even if has no signs of life, and as soon as I reinsert the battery it starts alright, so it seemed a different problem to me

Problems with my hd2 - Help Please

So basically, my hd2 is not running smooth at all. Every time i do a rom update and then restore my contacts/messages/settings it keeps getting frozen and unresponsive. So I have to restart the device, but I don't know why it should be restarted anyway, isn't is kind of super fast?!?! So, now, when I recently updated my ROM, the device is so damn slow, that even after typing my PIN it takes a minute to launch htc sense and everything. When I'm moving through the tabs it's so damn laggy i can't stand it. . Is anyone else experiencing this????
To be honest, and I'm no expert, it sounds like you have some serious phone problems, probably out of your control. Not to sound like a pessimist but given how everyone else seems to be ok with the HD2, could be either a major rom/radio problem or hardware failure??
I've updated my hd2 using the official rom from HTC and, apart from the occasional lag i get from WinMo, my device runs sweet as a a proverbial nut. Especially as I have run the tweaks suggested by the forums here.
Given that you have said that you've upgraded the ROM and it's made no difference, the only thing i could suggest is possibly send it back under warranty?
Obviously, I'd wait and see if someone with more know-how has a better explanation, i'm merely giving you my POV.
Hope you get this sorted ASAP. A properly working HD2 is a marvellous thing.
All the best
To the OP,
There could be so many causes for your problems. I would start as follows:
- Take your SD card out and see if the phone boots and is not laggy with the card out
- If this does not work take a look at the SMS threads on here and see if the solutions there help you
- If no joy then read the Hints @ Tips thread on here, if you have not already done so, and pickup on the cache move tips, using the task manager to close open files, etc
- I that fails look for the thread "HD2 Died - or did it" and implement the solutions in there
- If that does not help and you have been flashing a fair few roms then hop over to the MTTY thread in rom development and see if that helps.
Plenty to be getting on with.
Hope you get it sorted.
WB
My power up to sense loaded time = 55 secs.
Any different?
thanks for this quick reply. I am using Energy Leo ROM, but I don't think this could be the problem, or is it? Because I have performed a hard-reset now and it's running quite smooth again.. But the question is for how long.
Two questions I have now:
-does it happen to anyone, when you try to wake up the phone, screen doesn't wake up, only the keys in the bottom start to glow? It happened to me from time to time
-does anyone else experience missed key taps? When I tap something from time to time it just doesn't get recognized so I have to "retap" it...

I have experienced question 1 and 2.. however not alot or not frequent.. I tend to think that this is just a computer and computers do crash depending on whats going on.. The missed screen taps only happens once or twice when its playing up. I do have a screen protector on though so whether the dust, oil or screen protector is causing that is a different story, but isnt a big problem for me to remove the screen protector to find out.
so, the latest problem.. my hd2 had been running for ~16 hours without any problem now, but in last 10 minutes i had to restart it twice, because the screen stopped responding after i wanted to type new sms in a conversation (first time) and after i had a pop-up message about new sms (second time). As said before, I'm using energy rom, latest issue (17.2.). Could the problem be, in fact connected with this rom or specifically with sms software?
using cooked roms you can generally expect a few lockups and restarts.
Also, the screen not powering up, just the hard keys backlight is an issue across the board, from custom roms to official roms. Some roms seem to do it, some don't, but one that doesn't do it to me might well do it to you.

It has been mentioned before that if you have a large number of texts stored, it will take a while for it to allow you to reply to a text. (It has to go through the database, check for the texts sent by the user, then arrange them alongside the ones sent to them by you, then put them in chronological order, then display them, this takes time)
but i would presume the device should be working anyway (but slower, of course) and not flashing the display and being "frozen" ?
The frozen issue with texts is all in the SMS thread I pointed you to earlier. Solutions to the phone freezing are in the HD2 Died thread, again as I pointed out earlier.
How many of these potential solutions have you tried? Tryy these things first then come back if they don't work rather than make assumptions about your ROM.

after 3 months i still have the issue with missed strokes.. even after the latest energy rom update :\

The new stock ROM has a slightly different version, but I'm sure is very similar:
2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Radio ROM version appears to be the same

I'd be interested to see a dump of the actual final ROM, even if there are only minor changes, they could squeeze out a bit of performance somehow.
Is there already one posted somewhere?
I'll dump mine if I knew how . I'll read up.
its so buggy and laggy with only 3 apps running...
and also wondering wth it is when I press the back button fast it corrupts the bottom bar
aswell as loading tons of images it crashes the gallery app....
Yeah, I think this is the one I was after. Is this the final shipped ROM from the US version on the 24th?

Yeah this is pretty bad-- I've had the phone for just two days now, but it's lagging all throughout, I can't run more than a couple of apps without major slowdowns, and even with no apps running and a fresh boot, it has issues.
It can't even play the Transformers movies that came with the phone without stuttering.
Earlier today, the volume rocker stopped working and somehow turned into a scroll wheel (it'd slowly move up and down in whatever was selected instead of adjusting volume).
The phone also has lots of issues where it won't come back after the screen is turned off (or will take 30 sec or more), and it seems sometimes the bottom buttons just don't work, or something freezes up. Then for a while I wasn't able to call anyone-- I could get into people's profiles in contacts, but tapping on the phone number would do nothing. It's also locked up on a few occasions while showing that services.exe or other processes crashed.
Also, not sure how related this is to the ROM, but I have voice quality issues-- people on the other end report hearing lots of background noise even in relatively quite environments, and to me they sound a bit muffled / put through a cheap speaker.
In any case, this is not a ROM anyone would voluntarily want to put on their phone.

I am having the exact same issues as you with the phone freezing when locked down as well as unable to make calls from contact lists or even ending calls from the "end call" on screen button. By any chance did you find a fix to this? The new ROM did nothing for me.
actually t mobile usa should had sent you a new message a few days ago for the update. its confusing because its all the same version package, just fixed these issues. i hated the first update, and i started myself because my graphic's driver was laggy and the touch controls were not usable. I installed this new one, and its fine!! not a problem yet!!!

Way 2 solve all HD2 Problems !

It's been over 6 months with my HD2 and this period was plagued by numerous problems. The essential function of any mobile is to make phone calls and sadly this was the area most affected. Many times my phone will drop calls, mute itself, freeze screen, make it impossible to answer a call and to disconnect a call because of frozen slider etc...etc...to name a few...
But i have solved all these now and my phones call functions work flawlessly.
How?I removed all tweaks and customizations by Factory Reset and Memory Card formatting!!
After that i installed only the software's i absolutely require,one at a time,watching out for problems.In fact i have just 4-5 customizations in my HD2 now...and i am happy.
Haven't had any of your problems with my HD2 and have installed loads of customizations, apps and ROMs.
What a usesless thread...
going to say, i've had zero problems with my HD2, i bought it 2nd hand, and i've tweaked it to with an inch of its life! I have a good few apps installed aswell. This phone seems to get alot of unnecessary bad press at times and i'm sure most of which is user error...no disrespect intended there though mate.

Yes, I have to agree with you too - I've got plenty of customizations, and very rarely get any problems !
I have countless number of tweaks but only a hand full of apps that I actually need.
Never had an issue.
Make sure you put system tweaks and mods on the internal mem. Won't have a problem after that.
I've got 30+ apps (only one of which is a game), countless reg edits, Resco Contact Manager which totally takes over calls and dialing, as well as contacts, which you would think could potentially be quite problematic and I've never had an issue with stability.
I've never understood the stability issue thing, just stay away from stock ROMs and you'll be laughing.

that thing works wonders for me whenever I have a problem!
which isn't very often
I have stock ROM and plenty of tweaks and apps and I haven't faced any problems till now. really stable. I remember way back I was using htc touch with slower processor and wm 6.1 and I faced a lot of problems that Op described.
wow...overwhelming response...
I stand corrected because this problem came up again today morning:When a call came in and I slide to answer, the slider got stuck to "answer" while the phone continued to ring(without sound). The entire screen froze and I had to wait till the call got disconnected to use it again.
I was thinking this problem had disappeared after i removed all tweaks but there it is again.
I have searched the length n breadth of this forum and google too but without a solution..

Same applyes to me,most of the PDAs Ive used were much worst than my HD2 including My Iphone.this thing can function same as a computer + few other things, so must expect few slight glitches.
So any solutions for the problem friends?
1.)When a call came in and I slide to answer, the slider got stuck to "answer" while the phone continued to ring(without sound). The entire screen froze and I had to wait till the call got disconnected to use it again.
2)Also when I do answer, after around 40 seconds,i cannot hear the person at the other end.The calls stays active till i end it.The other person can hear me but. This happen with random calls and in both incomin n outgoin.
I was thinking all the tweaks were messing up with the call function...but...
UPDATE:I got reply from htc to install System Update from website today. But wen i try 2 do that,Invalid Vendor ID error message is coming and the update aborts itself.
All problems solved after i updated my ROM to 1.66 ! thank u everyone

I am facing this only when battery is bellow 15%. If this is the case then just charge it before it goes to 15%.
If that's not the case then you can try installl MAGLDR v1.3
Do you have this issue in Froyo or Gingerbread ROMs? or in both? What version of CWM are you using?
I have the same problem on MIUI since after approximately 1.3.18 (cutover from Froyo to Gingerbread). Also have this problem on CME DHD2 Compact.
It is also an issue if someone tries to call me.
Sometimes, if I try waking the phone from sleep (power button) and it hits the black screen, and I wait long enough, it will wake. But again, the only real fix I know is pulling the battery.
I am running MAGLDR 1.13
Also, another fix that works sometimes is plugging in the phone into a power source e.g. laptop USB port
It's something about light sensor, when you put your screen into a strong light it would be turn "unblack" again. I don't know how to fix it, is this a problem with this hardware because it's broken or my version of LEO doesn't support NAND full functionaly.
Begging for answer!
i know about my poor english
I have this problem too.. running latest Hyperdroid rom by pongster (magdlr version) and it's driving me crazy. Sometimes phone wakes up normally after a call like it shoud, sometimes is stuck with black screen for few minutes, hours even (although i can't wait that long so i pull out battery)..
Back on WinMo everything worked normally, so it's not an hardware issue with proximity/light/whatever sensors
Is there any fix out yet? I googled and searched this forum a lot and haven't found nothing much helpful, ony a couple of threads with bunch of people with same problem like me. An option for disableing those sensors would be just as good, i've tried few apps for keeping the screen awake and none of them actually worked..
Any help is appreciated.. thanks in advance.
Bump!
Anyone? :/
I have the same issue - running Gingerbread, MAGLDR 1.13
Very annoying cause everything else works super.
Temporary solution i use is to use headset / handsfree. Then there is no problem.
So experts on XDA, we are begging for a fix for this!
I have the same issue since first Android roms and never found a real solution for the problem.
Instead i found a bypass that works for me reasonably well (99% of the cases the screen turns on after a call).
I installed the following 2 applications that wakes up my screen after the call (install then enable each one):
1. Screebl - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keyes.screebl.lite
2. Modified version of SpeakerShake - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=449922&d=1290758421
I suspect this issue is somehow related to hardware failure in light sensor. Installing these programs solve this problem for me.
Also take a look on the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835127
I have had the same thing happen to me but only around 2 or 3 times in a about 3 months of usage. Had it on both CM7 and MIUI Gingerbread ROMs regardless of battery percentage.
MAGLDR 1.13
Some users experience this using SetCPU
if you have a profile for screenoff and it's set to the lowest frequency, try to set the frequency to something above 500 MHz.
If you have smartass set as governor, then even setting the frequency to it's highest (without OC) during screenoff wouldn't change anything in battery performance, but the device will wake up faster.
Your setup works for me as well - until we`ll see a fix for it this will do

with me is so but only if I navigation (Navigon) and to have someone call me and then left the screen black and I can not make
try to change the kernel. that works for me
hey guys! i found the solution goin through the market!
download an app called "Sanity" theres a free version in the regular android market.
go to the settings > general > check "Reverse Proximity" (This will give you some warning about not using it if you DONT have a buggy proximity sensor). Check it anyways. Then go back to preferences then click "Proximity" scroll down and uncheck Turn off screen and leave leave the Turn on screen checked. this will force your phone to stay on during calls so that it never has to go through the proximity phase of calls this no more black screens. Hope this was helpful ^_^
Thanks!
I had this problem aswell. MIUI & Cyanogen mod were the ROMs I was using, and this problem started occuring after a few months use (my screen is also damaged from a fall, so maybe the sensors are a little damaged as well).
When I installed the WinMo 6.5 stock ROM again, everything was normal, except that my screen still turns black during calls BUT I can activate it again by pressing the power button.
Now I installed android again and the Screebl app (enabled it) and I have the same functionality! The only problem that remains is that my screen still turns black during calls, so I have to answer with the phone button and putt down phone with the power button. Still beats having to remove the battery though .
If someone has a fix for the black screen, it would be more than welcome!
But, thanks a million for the Screebl app tip! I can use my phone again .

I also try with WinMobile and the problem was still there ...
I think the sensor is broken ....
I will bring my phone to service ... and when i take it back I will tell you whether it is repaired
Solution
I had the same problem with Android roms on my HD2. I saw in an other thread a member (z-o-r-r-o-, thanks btw) wrote "just clean dust on the screen, where sensor is situated". This looked like a joke to me, but it's not. On a review of the phone I found the place of the proximity sensor. This is on the top of your screen next to the speaker, on the left if you look at the screen. I just took off the protection layer of the screen and cleand the sensor and the problem was solved. So I cut of a bit from the protection layer so that the sensors arn't touched by anything.
I think the problem is that this sensor is much more sensitive with android roms.
Hope this works for you to.
