Updated to froyo a little earlier. Went to try and set usb to mass storage in settings/about phone and there are no usb options there.
Anyone else got this problem? Or have I missed something?
No pulldown option to mount the usb either.
They are now in the wireless settings, for some reason.
Look under wireless and network --> Usb
Great, thanks guys

Hi guys!!
HTC Desire user here BUT I've a work colleague with the Galaxy Portal (Spica) which, for some reason, won't offer to mount the SD card to the PC when connected. It will chime and charge over USB so it knows it's been plugged in but no icon appears in the notification bar to allow you to mount the SD card as you'd expect to see with a stock Android phone.
It's on the 3 network in the UK running the Android version it came with (2.1)
Any suggestions??
I sometimes have this problem too.
I can fix it by going to:
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging
Turning it on/off makes the notification appear and enables USB file transfers
Sorry for post this twice but there's few people see my previous thread.
When I connect my nook color to pc, nook shows that usb debuging is conected now, but on my pc neither the hardware manager shows something like android device nor other app detect this.
And when I manually unselect the usb debuging and reselect,it just shift to the usb mass storage page.I dont know why.
I am running the newest cm7.1 RC1
Sorry for my bad English, Please help!!Thanks!!
Mine seems to be doing the same thing

Are you sliding up the notification bar and tapping on the USB notification? Once you do that, it allows you to enable USB mode and your nook color drives will show up in windows. When finished, be sure to safely eject your device in windows before turning off USB mode to properly exit USB debugging. If you don't, USB debugging wont turn off and you may end up crashing.
Nevermind.

Thank you for your response but the issue is that adb debug bridge is not enabling even though it indicates its enabled in notification bar, and is enabled in development settings.

You might just try and updated nightly, as I'm not having that issue. I think I'm running 107, but there are several newer version out now.
same issue
Hi I do have the same issue I have a Samsung Captivate.
Hi
My problem is that when I connect my sm-n900v to my laptop no usb icon showing up in notification bar device only charge.
I removed the driver and install it again not working.
I disable usb debugging not working and enable it not working
anyone know how to fix this problem?
I'm having the same problem. This started only after lollipop update. Device charges, but laptop does not "see" usb connection. Nothing in system tray. Nothing in device manager. Current version Kies just installed, but doesn't see phone when connected. Restarted both laptop and device disconnected and connected.
SM-N900V Android 5.0
Windows 7
Don't have a clue how to fix this. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thought I'd post my update. While my original USB 3 data/charging cord seems to charge flawlessly & quickly when plugged into the correct 12v OE wall charging adaptors, there is apparently a problem with data transfer. I think the cord I'd OK, but its loose when inserted into the port on the device. If I hold it JUST so, it works fine. I suggest patient cord manipulation to determine if this might be the problem for others as well. Might be hardware repair time.

Hi
I found this solution and it's work now
With the device plugged in:
Dial ##366633#(##DMMODE#)
Disable DM Mode
Disable USB Debugging Mode (Menu> Settings> Developer Options)
If you don't see Developer Options, Enable them by going to Menu> Settings> About Device and Tap "Build Number" 7 times. This will enable Developer Options.
Allow Drivers to load completely. This can take up to 5 minutes.
Device should now appear in device manager as Samsung Mobile USB CDC Composite Device
Now..With the phone still plugged in, turn off and turn on (Restart the device )
Again allow the drivers to load.
you will see the usb icon showing up in your device..
:good::good:

i knew i wasnt crazy and i had a usb menu show up on connect...btw a temp fix to not showing up, download more shortcuts, open app click activities -> click settings -> USB computer connection(Settings$UsbSettingsActivity) and select MTP or USB 3.0. You will have to do this everytime you unplug,(or set a shortcut on homescreen to open setting panel)
Currently I'm having to manually change the usb connection to MTP every time I plug into my car to get android auto to run. Is there any way around this or to set it by default to MTP? I've tried doing it through developer options, but it doesn't stick.
Same issue it worked when I turned off ADB debugging but then stopped working seems like another bug will have to wait for them to sort out really annoying for Android Auto users.
Under "Developer Options", there is the "USB configuration" setting. Mine is set to "Charging" but I can change it to "MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) or PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) or RNDIS (USB Ethernet) or Audio source or MIDI. Are either of these options what you need?
Sorry, if I'm missing something with the problem you're facing, but I thought I'd throw out what I see. Disregard this post of it's something else you need. Good luck!

I'm having the same issue. And as the OP stated, we are changing it in developer options, but once you back out and go back to check it, it's back to charging mode. Been a nuisance as it disconnects from AA when it switches to charging mode.
It's super annoying. Hopefully a fix will be out soon, but doubtful

I am wanting to transfer music and photographs from my laptop to my XiaoMi A1. I cannot follow the youtube explanation at all.
I get to the "Index of" and the list of what is on the phone but there appears to be a leap between that and the next page.
Is there a simple way to connect the phone and laptop? I am using Windows 7.
Appreciate any assistance the group may be able to provide this technical incompetent
With Win7-10, when you plug in the usb cable, there should be a notification. Just open the pull down menu, tap the notification and select the "Transfer files" option and then you're all set to transfer files. The default setting in the USB notification is charging (and changing this in the developer settings doesn't seem to do anything). If you're attaching the cable for the first time on the phone, windows will automatically download a driver.

Hi, thank you for the response. Much appreciated.
There was no notification when I plugged in the usb cable
Unfortunately the driver did not download - it tried - so am now wondering as to how to go about doing that. Is there a specific driver?
Yes, I tried the developer options on the USB debug in the developer setting and no, not much happened.
Ideas?

The usb port on the pc could be faulty. One port on my pc is like that and works only as a charge only port, data transfer pins do not work. Try a different port or another pc.
