What?
You %^*& with your /system so you'll have to flash the stock rom if you want the update, whether it's OTA or manual.
There should be a thread on this but you'll have to replace the files that were deleted to get rid of the goggles in order for update to process correctly. Basically you have to flash your phone to the shipped rom. Instructions are here in the forum. I had this done to my phone few hours ago.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Nothing will happen bro, you'll just have to re-install all your apps again since re-installting the stock rom will wipe your device.
What if I just install the goggles app when I get the OTA?
If its going to wipe everything in the update then I shouldn't be worried right?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Did you do that too?

If you used the Google Goggles remover program the OTA won't install. This means you have to flash factory ROM and
will lose all data on your G2 (except for what is backed up)
If you didn't use the Goggles remover then just wait for or install the normal OTA. You don't lose any data and the OTA will fix Goggles.
Hope this helps.

im pretty sure you would need to update it manually...ie yourself
dont apply updates from OTA if rooted!
Apply a new rom yourself

There will be custom roms with the updates long before a ota one

It depends... if what you removed needs to be patched by the OTA then no it will not work. If the OTA does not attempt to patch those files it should go through with no problems. The workaround to that is to backup what you remove so you can put it back before the OTA applies or get on a custom rom.

Just a heads up guys, if you dont have it i would recommend upgrading it. In the new version it only clears up some security issues, no changes. But its definitely worth having and downloading!

I have to push this via adb, right?
Can anyone help me out with the command?
Or is there any way I can install this directly from my phone? Because the package installer refuses to install a system app...
(My device is rooted, so shouldn't it be possible to install this apk using terminal emulator?)

If it won't install via apk, try clearing ur market cache before install.
If that doesn't work, just put the zip (not apk) on ur sdcard and flash it in recovery.

On the phone, Download z4root from google and install it, then open it and choose Perm Root, then it will install su and the Superuser app.
Hope it helps.
I tried the z4 infact thats was the way I rooted my phone the first time but after the ota update they shut down Z4root's path. I need my root back to tether (no internet at all now!)

Has anyone actually flashed the new ota that has come out on a stock non rooted device. I've seen that its floating around although I haven't seen any conformation that people have successfully flashed it and that it works.

It's an incremental, not a full ROM. It should work fine rooted, but if you've altered, frozen, renamed or deleted ANY original files, it will fail.
See I haven't rooted at all and have the version 1.141.07 so it should be okay to update right? The worst thatll happen is it fails to install and I just go back to what I had before correct?
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
That is correct.
So just to confirm I wont lose my current data?

Not if you flash the FOTA when your tablet notifies you, no.

It's a full ROM. When flashing a full ROM, it's always best to wipe data first. You can try without doing that; it might be fine, it might not.
Worst that can happen is you'd have to go back into recovery and wipe.
Do a backup first, a nandroid one in case you want to rollback, and a Titanium one for your apps and data for easy reinstallation.
Hmm, I thought the one on the forum was an incremental to 3.1?

Hi All
I've also got the system prompt to update to 1.141.07 (39.71MB). I have not rooted and have three numpty questions-
1.This I understand is not the Honeycomb 3.1 update?
2.Also I'm in the UK and got my Iconia in the USA- that does not have any effect on updating does it? I mean setting wise?- (dumb but I'm being very cautious!)
3.The Wifi issue people are having with this update is related to ROOTED tablets?
Cheers all
I was rooted and I flash the full from everything is working fine right now!

Just to clarify I'm not talking about flashing the leaked Chinese rom, but the ota released yesterday

Hello All,
Should I freeze my updater so I do not get any future updates without me wanting them? I heard if you have a rooted devices with a custom recovery sometimes an ota update can not only remove root but brick your phone. If this is so can anyone show me how to freeze the updater?
Thank you.
Kinda would like this information since I'm still using my stock ROM and don't wanna accidentally take any otas
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
well its illegal to automatically update your phone without your consent so you shouldn't need to block anything. However ofcourse you could "accidently" update so its up to you.

If your on the stock ROM and rooted and have custom recovery installed you will absolutely brick your device. This happened to quite a few people here including myself and it took about a day for the devs to get our devices fixed when the first OTA rolled out. So yes freeze it. if your on a custom ROM then you need not worry about this.

What exactly do I freeze. I'm assuming I can use titanium backup to freeze it but I have no idea what to freeze.
