[Q] How to "unblock" ads in native browser ? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I'm running Shubcraft 1.5 on my HD2 and I realize that Google Ads are hidden in the native web browser.
I'd like to see them.
Do you have any idea of how I could repair this ?
PS: I searched before posting and found it was maybe with hosts file... but I can't find it in system/etc/ .
I hope someone could help me
Thanks !

Why don't you make one then put in sdcard\android\root\system\etc?

Well, I read ads were blocked because of lines written in this hosts file
So, if there is no hosts file, nothing should be blocked :/
Maybe I misunderstood something...
If anyone have informations on this hosts file and could help me, I'd really appreciate.
Thanks !

it sounds like they basicly added the adblocker app into the rom build. ask the dev if they can disable.

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications, tap All then search for what might be causing your problem. If nothing is to be found, try and ask the dev about this issue, as t1h5ta3 said earlier.

Install Express: Quickly install ALL cabs

I'm not sure if somebody has already put this cab somewhere on XDA, but in case no one has, here's an app that allows you to install all cabs in your TP2 quickly & silently. I found it somewhere on the Internet. Now you don't have to install every single cab and go through the installation process over and over again.
This app:
- is useful for those who are fond of hard-resetting their tp2 or flashing new roms..
- Works great on TP2.. (at least it does on mine)
Just install the cab on your tp2 & run the program. You'll figure out how everything works from there. The app is in French, but the ZIP file below includes the setup for English. Install the setup if you want the app in English.
Working??
Sounds great!! Does any one have any screen shots of this? or can confirm this works?
It works

Hi monotonyallthetime...
I can confirm it works.. it really does & the installation process is quite fast.. It even works as a background app
I'll post the screenshots pretty soon..
You now it is a very old idea? On most roms you can find UC (for user customization) that do the same. Search the forum for this one.
Thanks

Thanks for the notification.. I'll go check it now..
Or you can use Sashimi, which has also been around a long time, to do the same thing plus even more. And it is in English and well supported.
App in English..?

After you installed the English setup, the app would still be in French. Ignore this first and go the last tab on the app. You'll see a box that says 'French'. Click that box and an option box will appear. You'll see 'English' there. Click 'English' and the app will show up in English straight away..
Thanks

Boy I'll second the vote for Sashimi. I have mail, wifi, and most all my apps auto setup after a ROM flash. Works great once you spend the time to set it up. Only problems are some ROM's need different apps (is Opera already at 9.7, does it include an auto-lock, task switcher, etc) but it's a very cool program:

I want to run JBed, too...
But I also found the Android 2.1 Version.
Maybe it have to be reworked for 2.2.
But that will be only a matter of time

Freak...
Maybe some of us won't play with JBed. They need it for daily use apps?!
Like for my "dasHandyTicket" to buy tickets for the train?!
gzl-jbed-2.2.apk can on this build. Use google to search to get it. All the best.
Thank you for your hint.
It works like a charm...
For those who don't know Google...
Go to jim4ever.com and you will find it
Don't be afraid... I know it's chinese. But you will understand it
worked for me, thanks a lot
I declare this thread retarded.
I do not understand one damned post in here.
What the hell does this mean? "Don't be afraid... I know it's chinese. But you will understand it"
Either you do, or don't understand Chinese.
OP, are you trying to ask how to install an apk that is not downloaded from the market?
If so, click on the apk file in a file explorer such as 'Root Explorer' and follow the prompts.
'If you don't understand this, don't worry, because you understand it!'
#facepalm
Holy sh*t...
Are you really as stupid as you want to tell us?
Did you really don't understand the irony in my post?
Take a look at the chinese page and tell me again that you don't understand that you have to click this
---> http://jim4ever.com/android-soft/GZL-Jbed-2.2.apk <---
obvious link...
Did you try to push you posts counter with such useless comments?
It's incredible...

[Q] Editing System Files

*N00B Alert*
I just downloaded this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026
I'm trying to change the DPI back to 240. The guide seems easy enough; use a text editor and change the value in the file.
However the problem is that I can't seem to save the changes I have made. Read Only?
I'm new to these things so I'm problem doing something fundamentally stupid. The rom is already rooted I think.
BTW in b4 "lolololoool use search tool on forum". I already have, but my android lingo isn't good so I'm probably searching for the wrong thing.
Using "File Manager" and "Text Edit" apps to find and edit the file respectively.
Thanks

ES File Explorer (free) will let you mount system directories, you have to enable it in settings.

[WIP] visualADB for Windows

Hi Guys,
I am kinda bored (and I hope it is the right forum here), so I decided to learn c# and make a GUI for adb on windows.
actual state of what is actually working:
- it recognizes if the phone is plugged in
- you can see /
- you can change to a dir, but the file listing of the dir above doesn't disappear.
- you can remount the device as r,w
- nothing more...
TODO:
- fix bugs
- add "push" button to upload files to device
- logcat button to view logcat
- an easteregg, cuz I want to be funny....

This thread should be abount ideas you have, about what I could include to that.
it's pretty useless until now... but I like to share.
have fun with it...
just paste the exe into /platform-tools
Windows only, you need .NET Framework 4...
btw: source will be given, when it's stable and I don't have to shame for the code, cause until now it's full of bad comments

Autorun management on Android Lollipop

Ever since updating my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0, I've found that you can't manage startup. I tried Clean Master, Autostarts, and Autorun Manager, but none of them works.
Please assist me in finding a solution. Thanks.
Anybody? Well, can the "Autorun" in the thread title be changed to "Startup" at least?

you can use app ops, the lastest version can do that
Do you mean the one by Lars Team? I just tried that, but disabling an autostart doesn't stick, it's enabled again when I recheck.

you can use this app to remove the permissions and it does not require root too..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.heagoo.apkpermremover&hl=es_419
Does that manage startup entries? Doesn't look like it, and App Ops seem to manage permissions fine.
Greenify?

You can remove the unnecessary permissions like boot with the phone...
Greenify is an option, but I'd rather not depend on another running process... Oh well, have to make do with it for now.
Just tried APK Permission Remover. It requires you to uninstall, then reinstall the app. Too much trouble keeping up-to-date.
Simply deactivate the app.

Just flash Pie Patch
you should just flash the pie patch via recovery, it solves a lot of the problems root apps have in lollipop, including the startup one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/fix-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731
Sounds risky and unclear, maybe someone else can try?

What do you know, they just started working again for me... Didn't patch anything, just updated normally.
Autostarts has been updated to support lollipop.
Kingroot, but its also do more than I need.
