Hi all, I've just upgraded my O2 Exec ROM, not being a PC user i assumed that activesync (using my flatmates PC) would back up everything, including MMS and SMS messages.
With over 300 SMS messages, a lot of them personal, others with important information in them, i would like to be able to recover them.
if theres any way to do this i would appreciate any help.
thanks,
brodie
Nope, you're f***ed. There's no recovery program at my knowledge.
did u make a backup? ...-if u made a full backup, just restore that.
no i think i just synced it. i saw no option for backup, only sync so assumed it would back it up.
I didnt really pay much attention to it, just checked all the boxes in active sync and synced it, upgraded the ROM and synced back again, but no sms.
Just looking now and my other email accounts havent appeared, am i missing something? does activesync not copy your other accounts either?
No, sorry to say but ActiveSync only copies you default outlook folders. No copy is made of SMS, MMS and other mailboxes that are set up. So sorry to say but I don't think you'll ever see the lost data again.
A little late for now but I'd recommend using a backup utility for future use. Which btw does not solve all of your problems as a backup made with a specific Rom can almost never be restored on an upgraded device with a different Rom. For SMS I use Jeyo Outlook Companion which creates a PST in outlook and keeps your SMS messages in sync. You can that also copy the SMS messages to any mail folder you'd like.
thanks for the replies all, looks like i shouldnt be so hasty and assume everything gets synced!
I'll look into backup utilities, have to wait until pocketmac or missingsync works with WM5!
I use jeyo sms outlook add on, for sms, and also look at personal vault, http://1800message.com/default.aspx to back up your phone I use Backup manager of sunnysoft, works like a treat.
hey everybody
i think this tread is not the first one for that but i dont know what to do...and i need help and that fast...xD
so i dont know what happened to my pocket opc but it resetet...so now i lost everything!
is there any tool to get my contacts mails and messages back?
or just the contacts? that would be the most important thing...
please help me!
i need them!
thanks
If you saved them with PIMbackup or even ActiveSync you can easily restore them. Otherwise there is no application that I know of that can "undelete" files from the phones memory.
Hi all,
Is there any way to change the storage of SMS to SD card or something for HTC HD2?
I like to keep some of the sms and view them at times, and now I believe I have reached the limit. I use PIMBackup, but that doesn't let me view the backed up sms unless I restore it (and unrestore to get to current data).
Given it's a Windows device, can't it act like Outlook where we can view the archived emails?
Many thanks in advance.
Microsoftmyphone backs up all your emails, sms ans anything else you need to the internet.
You can log on via a pc vie/read/delete online and also restore to your phone, its microsoft but still works well
myphone will work~
This is a frustrating problem. Randomly, I will notice Google has somehow lost some of my contacts. All the information is gone. Right now my phone is set to sync contacts and I know I am not physically deleting anything. I have searched around and some people have been having this, but I have not seen any solutions for it.
Anyone else ever experience this or know what I can do? I have even seen my contacts data mixed with other contacts and have pictures which are completely wrong. I am running NSCollab so could it possibly be the rom? I don't see anything in the thread regarding that issue so I don't think it is.
Any help would be appreciated.
This also happened to me. Strangely enough if I look for the contact with go contacts it's there - you might try that.
i got this problem on the stock rom, using go contact i managed to restore my contact list by exporting the list to sdcard then import in the stock phone contact list ( it also restored old deleted contact :S )
i also lost random photo ...
backup your data !!

Your contacts should be saved by Google. Not sure about texts.

I think the texts are gone.
The contacts are probably gone. But, if they are saved to Google, they might be recoverable. Goto your gmail and check the contacts tab.

I have never heard of that working, but try it. Instead of asking us, when we keep saying no, just try it.
But, I really doubt it.
If the contacts are very important, don't you have some other way of contacting them? Like social media. Or is there anybody else who may have the contact info as well?

If the messages are that important dont do much further with your phone, take the phone to Computer IT specialist likely found in some small coomputer repair shops, they may be able to recover your lost text messages and print them out for you. Anything that is deleted can be recovered.

Deleted items are only recoverable until over written and being a text message I would consider them gone for good. In the future you should always back up contacts to Google if they are important, being u never know when u may lose or break your phone. Hell it could even get stolen. Anything important should have a backup...

Samsung Data Recovery not only can help you get lost media files back, but also can recover contacts and SMS files formatted or lost due to other reasons from various mobile phones. With this recovery tool, you can recover deleted SMS and contacts on Samsung Galaxy directly, after connect your Android phone to PC, or recover lost pictures, photos, videos, etc. from the SD card on the Samsung Galaxy mobile phone. In addition, the program is also apply to almost all Android devices, including HTC, LG, Sony, Motolora, Google and so on. Hope this can help. Thanks for reading.
When deleted messages, deleted from android, the os removes the pointer to the files from the file allocation table and flags the deleted files as no longer needed. in order to recover the deleted messages, contacts, you need to avoid writing data to the card or internal storage, plug in your device and set the usb setting as mass storage so that both the sd card and built-in storage should be recognized and mounted as removable drive, scan the drive, then recover the deleted messages from android.
