My htc diamond screen went out, i was able to make a pimbackup file (which is no use to me now i have a android phone.) I can still access my files by connecting it to the computer. Is there a way i can look at my contacts so i can put them on my new phone?
use this with your phone on your pc

or sync contact with your diamond with a gmail account end then sync with your android phone

use gmail
- by syncing from WM to exchange at m.gmail.com
- create non binary backup with ppcpimbackup, extract files - one of them is contacts.
rings and contact photos wont be imported by android but names/numbers are imported/exported properly to android phone

Helllo!
I am wondering if there is a programm out there that ports my wm contacts, calllogs and messages to Android and, even more important, back to WM.
It is very annoying, having some messages on the Android system and some on wm. Since WM is my basic OS, I try to find a way, getting the messages i received while using Android back to WM..
Thanks for your help and kindest regards!
Hi, in order to avoid this problem I've done the following:
Transfert from WM to Android:
I used SpriteBackup and SpriteMigrate
You can find how to proceed on their website (SpriteMigrate is free).
Nb: I didn't transfer my agenda as it's synch with my PC (I used HTCSynch to retreive my meetings).
To avoid receiving calls and Sms in WM:
easy... put WM in "flight mode".
You will only be connected under Android.
This will only work if you choose to switch completely to Android.
Ideas but not tested for migration:
You can try also to synch all WM with outlook, then Outlook with Android if you have a sense version (use HTCSynch).
MyPhoneExplorer may also do the trick.
Have a HD2 and recently got an Omnia 7 through Orange and had the following problems and was wondering if I flash to a WP7 on my HD2 will I still have the same? I returned the Omnia and still using the HD2.
I did some seasrches on the fourm but didnt see anything specific, apologies if I missed them ....
Contacts...
I couldnt find a way to trasnfer my contacts (about 300+) from HD2 to Omnia 7 - they are stored in Microsoft MyPhone (WP7 created a different account automatically), in Outlook (couldnt see a way of syncing WP7 with Outlook) and couldnt transfer via Bluetooth (didnt support Object Exchange).
Also, WP7 instisted on downloaded all 700 contacts from my Hotmail to phone - is there a way to keep these seperate?
You would have thought that MS MyPhone should enable the transfer of contact, calendar, texts etc. unless they are stored in a completely different format.
Bluetooth - does WP7, and in particular the hacked WP7 on HD2, allow for objects to be transferred via Bluetooth?
Tethering .... HTC have confirmed with me that the HD7 DOES support tethering but operators remove that functionality. The HD2 does have the capability so I am sure someone will be able to unlock this useful feature.
Sorry guys,
Have I missed something very obvious here?
Does wp7 sync with Outlook to recover contacts, calendar, tasks etc. that are there from hd2 on wm6.5?
How did everyone else copy there contacts over, surely not one at a time?
OS making the move to WP7.
Whats the easiest way to transfer my contacts to WP7?
I've sync'ed my email contacts but the phone contacts not sure about.
Also i have a number of sms' saved that i'd like access to can these be transfered?

If it were me i would sync all my contacts in to outlook, setup a live or gmail account and import them all from outlook, either by using the outlook connector or by exporting them all to a CVS or something, live and gmail provide a way of importing these files , when you setup WP7 you just sync the live/gmail account and bobs your uncle
as for SMS, i think your out of luck im afraid, if you want to back them up and still have access to them i would suggest using Microsoft My Phone, that will allow you to transfer all your SMSs to an online backup utility, you can then just connect to it on your phone to look at them, but there is no way of transfering them to your phone....at the moment anyway
you'd think Ms would make it easy for users to upgrade from wm6.5 to 7!
thanks for the procedure i'll try that way.
i currently use Myphone, sux its not wp7 compatible

i cant find it now but on one of the many MS blogs out there i read that the My Phone team are making a new version with WP7 in mind, dont know if its true, and i cant find the link, i stumbled on it a while back by mistake, but anyhow, it stands to reason that they will have something like that at some point, perhaps they are waiting for Mango which already has several large changes over NoDo, who knows! just need to wait and see
yeah there were a few rumurs a while back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13973440&postcount=6
but nothing recently. only things im missing is the call recording feature and MyPhone, but at the moment i'm having to get live without each.
I hope Mango has Myphone, it was one of the best services (if not THE best service) that MS had for WM.

No no, Exchange server, is microsoft's "google sync" i never used a windows phone, but i know in windows mobile i was able to backup my contacts to an xml file then used an online converter to convert it to vcd to be restored in android. And in windows mobile i used smschat to backup my inbox. Look in the windows phone store for any type of backup software and get back to me with them and i'll see what sort of conversions i can do.
