EVO and Nexus One are product names.
They both use "Android Froyo" operating system (OS).
Besides, Nexus One build uses Froyo 2.2.1 and EVO build uses Froyo 2.2, so EVO builds are order than Nexus build or CM6 build in term of OS.

so far i like HTCClay's build of cyanogenmod the best. its a clean ASOP build with ALOT of features and tweeks that you dont get in any other builds.
now for people that like " pretty" builds, you'll want one based on sence ie an evo rom is prob going to be popular.

eVo vs. Desire Build

What is the difference between the eVo and Desire builds? I am trying to decide between MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.3 vs Mdeejay eVo Sense v2.3 rEVOlution. I isntalled both of them, they look about the same.
Is there a specific benefit of using one of the the other?
One of the key features I am not seeing in both builds is being able to Copy & Paste in Message app. And also, the feature of having numbers formated to (xxx) xxx-xxxx instead of xxxxxxxxxxx
One thing I've got to add to your topic is that i find that the eVo Sense build is faster and smother than the FroYo build (especially using MDJ's S2 kernal).
The one thing you should note though is that the eVo build is actually no longer supported (no more updates will provided for this build). Hope that helps you.

So the eVo build is no longer supported only for the build released by m-deejay right? Other developers are still updating it?
Other than performance (faster and smoother) are there any other difference?

Evo ROM or DesireHD ROM?

I am pretty new to here, still trying to learn Andriod on HD2, just wondering what is the major difference between DesireHD and Evo ROM on HD2? what are the pros and cons?
Thanks!
i would recommend EVO builds. I don't know why but all Desire HD build i have tried, they were so laggy.
I also prefer evo. Also next time, open a thread like this in Q&A section.
Thanks, I will post the question to Q&A next time....
the desire hd builds are better because they have the new htc sense which i find to be a lot cooler than the evo sense. android 2.3 will probably have the new sense anyways though, so it wont matter soon anyways
I personally find myself reverting back to my Evo builds on a regular basis... I have several different sd cards including 2 class 6 cards and i always seem to experience lag and screen locks on hd desire builds... I experience no problems with evo roms. I just enjoy trying new roms no matter how they run. I will probably go back to an hd desire build again once i can load it from NAND .
try EVO build first... it is much stable than HD builds... then when you get boring flash and try HD builds... it has cool new features... that is what i did...
now im happy with hd build (coreHD) less laggy than other builds..

can give example which is EVO rom?
*too many weird name there
thanks....
My hd2 not accept any other rom version than the one that are available to me. I've done HSPL, Radio is 2.10 ..... 50_2, and everything else should be fine, yet my phone is still growing HTC logo, for example, if you start Desire HD's firmware in the card.
Neither (personal preference)

Did you allow it to create a data image or add one to the Android folder? Sometimes you have to give it anywhere from 2 minutes to 20. Anything over 20 reformat the sd card and try again.
Let me pile on, the DesireHD ROMs just aren't there yet. The new HTC Sense items in DesireHD are really nice, but not worth the long lag times.
I've tested a lot of ROMs. The one in my sig has been by far the best combination for me. It's almost as zippy as the EVO (my daughter and wife have EVOs). What impresses me most about the ROM I'm using is it doesn't get bogged down with multitasking as much as other ROMs.
Most ROMs are fairly quick on first load. Then they quickly bog down when you load up accounts and apps. FRG83.MCCM IR V1.7.1(Incredible) with hastarin r8.5.1 kernel stays responsive.
Offcourse HD builds, much more smooth browser and goodies in magnificent text selector.
For me the browser experience is the most think to decide my choice......I wasn't using HD builds at moment because the camera faults, but now I am.

Best Android NAND for hd2

Dude... seriously... which beer is the best? what's the best colour? What's the best food?
etc. etc. etc.
It is ALL a matter of taste. You need to read people's feedback in each thread, decide which seems best to you, then try a few. The happiest people on this forum, are the ones that put the work in at the beginning, and find a ROM they like.
If you know what you're after, then maybe with a little tweaking of the question, you'll get some help.
Sense or not?
Which base do you prefer? EVO, Nexus, Desire HD.....
Do you want a stock ROM (hardly changed from original base), or one that's themed.
There's so many variables, this question is obsolete..... Do yourself a favour and do some research, you won't regret it.
I had been using Cotulla's LEO stock desire ROM since 30 Dec...quite fast and found no bugs at all...
Since there are so many more NAND builds recently, I would like to seek for some recommendations for new ROM...
My only requirement is sense build with stock theme
Thanks!

Projection's build is close to Stock desire that you are using, it has bug fixes and changes, is stable, and works well.
Again, backup your stuff with titanium, then go flash around.... you'll find something you like.
Nearly ALL builds have screenshots, so you can see what it'll look like before you try it.
well thanks guys...well i thought i was specific enough...my only requirements are speedy, fast rom...all features working.....nothing else matters ...just those 2 features i mention...and um ur also right about doing ur reasearch...thats y i even gave 2 examples MDJ Revolution HD and JDMS. do u guys know of any rom thats like the fastest on the hd2 with all the features working?.....i want to run psx4droid...hope fully it will run good on the rom u guys recommend.
In terms of speed, a bare android (non sense) will likely be the fastest (IMO more stable as well). The desire HD builds are the most feature-laden but also tend to be slower, and the desire and desire z fall in between the two. In terms of speed, the ranking is vanilla is fastest, then desire, desire z, then desire HD (again, IMO), and vice versa in terms of features.
At this point, I believe it is a pretty moot point to talk about "everything working," because each of these different types all have several threads with everything except wireless tether( most don't have it) and 720p recording (none have this feature).
I recommend browsing each thread and finding something that is visually appealing and trying it. If it gives you problems move on to the next one.
Just make sure to read and search before posting questions or bugs.

Gingerbread is so fast compare to Froyo, you would not believe it?
But Gingerbread has no sense (except sense theme from Mccm), has no Internet passthrough and some apps do not work with it. SPBTV 2.0 is an example for me.
This is my point of view.
I will never come back to Froyo.
I am Magldr, WP7, Mccm GB v2.1. THE BEST!
Why there is NO CLEAN SD/MAGLDR BUILDS of Gingerbread, without sense, CM mod etc...? Each avaliable 2.3 build is customized and very unoriginal Hope the situation will change...

check out AmeriCanAndroid.
it's a SD build, clean, based on CM7 Gingerbread, 2.3.3 to be specific. And is natively built as a Leo, not another device as is common amongst HD2 builds.

Well in my experience, Gingerbread is extremely fast, true, but Froyo is not bad and very stable. The best i tried for froyo was
[Dec 10][SD] NexusHD2-FRG83D V1.8 (PPP + RMNET) [Kernel: hastarin r8.5.3_oldcam], and i got very used to it, all my apps works well and fast enough. gaming (emulators, ps snes genesis n64...), all programs (social, productivity, work...) basically all the apps. My first real jump to gingerbread after many hesitation due to reading the forums was a month ago i tried with CM7 then another stock like (can't remember which one , sorry!), lots of hiccups and incompatible with many apps I loved and can't live without, don't get me wrong they were good but, from my point of view, coming from all the goodies in froyo did not beat the speed gingerbread offered. So i went back to froyo again using [DL Desire v4.32][Sense Re-Engineering with RAM][Always FASTER], which is blazing fast but lags some times (best quadrant score i've seen in all roms i've tested).
So my 2 cents is that it really depends on the user. I would absolutely go 100% gingerbread with AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB233 CM7|bkup2sdext234 [KERNEL:AmCanAndroid r3.06], because this is the best I have tested very fast stable and all that you can get from gingerbread on your HD2, however not compatible with my favorite apps. So until I can work around those, Froyo is still my best option and there are very decent one out there with good tweaking options (setCPU...). Choices choices Gingerbread vs Froyo means to me Speed vs Compatibility, hopefully we can get best of both world soon.
NB: I am talking about SD only, no MAGDLR or Ram as I have seen no real difference running SD or Ram in terms of speed or battery or at least not very noticeable, So I like to keep my WM around just in case since i tend to go crazy on all the options offered so in case of android crash and urgency i can boot back and respond fast on my weak but trusty WM.

Try [27.FEB][DFT/CWM] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.3 [Android2.3.2][Kernel: tytung_r6]. Clean, fast ROM without any extras
I bought my hd2 on ebay and had to flash it back to 6.5 because of a password problem. I really like my phone but I did like the android. I have been reading hundreds of pages and there is just too much information to get through.
I would like to put android back on my phone but how do you figure out which version is the best? For me it needs to be simple. I am an old lady. I want to put it on and never have to mess with it again. Will some nice person help this old lady across the street.

The only way to truely tell which rom is the best one for you is if you test them out yourself. We can tell you which one works best for us but it won't really do any good.
Check out the thread below it breaks it down to different types of android roms..

Hi I'd advise you to have a look at darkstones SD roms particularly the sense-less build (I'll edit post with link and name later, I forget it now).
It's very fast, simple to set up. I have been using it ever since I first tried it, about 6 weeks ago. Rock solid and very clean and lovely to use it's well worth a look.

[Q] Gingerbread 2.3.4 & Sense for HD2?

http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_...gingerbread_on_16_may_in_the_uk-news-2638.php
The above article says that HTC Desire HD and Incredible S get Gingerbread on 16 May. Today is the 17th. Anybody got any news?
I'm sure these updates could help speed up the efforts to have a fully working version of Ginger-Sense for the HD2.
It's better to stick with your favorite Gingerbread Sense ROM for updates. If your favorite ROM thread is still support by the dev, he will surely upgrade his Sense build. Instead of making a thread that won't fasten his work. Give him a week or two after the official release date to update it in his thread.
I was asking because there's no Gingerbread Sense ROM that really works.
There are only 2 Sense ROMs that are Gingerbread based: imilka's Gingerbread Sense and RafDroid HD Gingerbread. Each of them has a long list of known issues and I assume they are made from bits and pieces of other Sense ROMs.
I assumed that having a Desire HD Ginger-ROM would stimulate other developers to get on board of similar projects.
I don't own a Desire HD so I don't know if the update has been released. I thought some of the people on this forum should know more on this issue.
I'm not trying to waste anyone's time, I was just asking a legitimate question.
PS: right now I'm running the same ROM that you are running.
of course there is no fully working one yet because the devs need access tothe source code and libraries used to be able to hack them to work on our hd2

Have tried some, the stablest are the roms with the Sense 2.1 lock screen or the 3.0 one without the app-links. Pictures from the camera are a little bit unsharp with less light, camcorder works in no rom. But Dungphp said, it was working nearly. If you can live without the camera, you will have no graphical glitches. Had often start problems of the sense launcher, after install or after some reboot's.
All problems should be solved if HTC will release the code of the desire gingerbread kernel (!not desire HD, this is already released but hardware is more different).
I will check today and let you know.
Yeah i tried a few Ginger sense builds and whilst they are good they are still way too buggy for everday use not to mention the camcorder issue not resolved so i wont be flashing any more until they are stable.
Forgot the only solution to record a video. "Videocam illusion" record video's in .mov format at our sense gingerbread rom's, but the quality is not so good.

+1, returned to stable froyo sense.
The stablest one was the sbryan12144 v0.2, no installation problem's and everthing working very fast. But the glitches and the bad camera and camcorder was 1 problem too much for me.

Yes, I know what they need to make the magic happen. I'm also a developer (C++/C#/SQL Windows software), and though I have little to no experience on Android software & ROMs, I know how hard they work for everything they do.
BTW HTC should kiss XDA's feet each and every morning. I got more support on this site than I ever got from HTC.
