Time changing to wrong time - HD2 General

Hi all,
Just a quick feeler
I know a few people that have reported the phone time keeps changing to be several hours out on its own, most if not all are connected to orange network here in the UK,
Is any one else seeing this strange behaviour?
Boyise

this is because of googles services i believe, use bsb tweaks to turn off auto sync time

I have the problem, and I too am on Orange UK, however with my sim card in an old phone the time updates correctly.

Hello. Same issue here, also on Orange. Auto time zone turned off, seems to have sorted it so far....

I am having the same problem. I am with T-Mobile UK but using roaming to share Orange network.
How do you turn off auto time zone? I don't have BSB tweaks installed.

I'm having the same issue.
The clock randomly changes itself sometimes by one, two or even eight hours. I have tried disabling everything I can find - such as HTC location service and internet time sync... I am in the UK on 3 Mobile.
May get in contact with HTC, but they're probably going to blame our custom ROMs.
EDIT: You should check out the other thread "Winter time change" - loads of people have this issue. It's been reported to HTC and a fix is due. The current workaround is:

I've been pulling my hair out all day, trying to fix this 'randomly changing hour' problem. I think I might have found a solution:
Go to Phone/Menu/Options/Menu/Network Selection/GSM-UMTS Services/Time Synchronisation/ and set it to unchecked.
My time has not changed since.
Good luck...

Wifi won't turn on at all

I noticed over the weekend that my wifi wouldn't turn on using either the communication tab or the wifi tab in settings. When I click the turn on wifi box in settings it stays grey for a few seconds and then unticks itself. It doesn't even show the icon on the top status bar.
I was running the stock HTC 1.14 rom and have now upgraded to the recent HTC upgrade.
Has anyone had this problem? I've thought it was time to upgrade to one of Dutty's roms but really want to fix the problem before. Is it likely the wifi is defective on my phone? I don't really want to contact my provider as I currently have an unlocked phone from mobiles.co.uk and I think if it was replaced it would be with a locked phone.
I've checked the previous logs submitted and the only solution I found was to upgrade or downgrade the rom but this hasn't helped.
Any ideas?

Try going to:
Settings > Connections > Wifi > Wireless Networks > Network Adaptors and setting this to 'The Internet'
and also go to:
Settings > Connections > Wifi > Advanced > Power Mode and setting this to 'Best Performance'
Now try connecting to wifi
Let us know how you get on
I've just tried this and it still won't switch on. Any more ideas? Do you need any information from the phone?

Did you exeperience any other problems after upgrading to newer HTC rom....i.e. phone not working, no signal or discolourisation in screen after reboot?
Or is this the only problem?
Just trying to get better understanding of your problem.
Unfortunately I am heading out to a meeting so hopefully someone else can help you.
I'd recommend if all else fails to try a hard reset or reflash rom and possibly use USPL V2.5 beforehand. Also read cRaCKwHoRe's guide (see my signature)
i am experiencing the same problems you have. check your camera too, mine doesnt work either. i have flashed other roms and still have problems.
This promlem occurred before the HTC rom upgrade so I don't think it caused it. I have noticed that my battery life is terrible since the upgrade tho - today I unplugged the phone from charge at 0540hrs and by the time I got to work at 0700hrs it was at 91%. Since then I've made 1 phone call for 2minutes and used the SatNav for 15 minutes and its down to 61% at 0930hrs!!!
Before the reboot the only issue I noticed was that BBC IPlayer sounded as if it was running at 95% speed as the voices on the radio sounded slowed down - anyone else experience this?
I spoke to HTC yesterday and they think the WIFI has packed up. I'm going to return the phone to them under warrantee tomorrow but they said if they find ANY software unauthorised on the phone that THEY deem to be the cause then they will charge for the repair. Can anyone confirm that a hard reset will remove TF3D config and the HD tweek app completely as these are the only bits of software I don't want them to know about.

Clock changes itself 1 hour continuosly

i have had a problem that has been plaguing me and my phone for quite some time now, i have asked around and combed search engines for an answer, i have never found the solution, but i have found others who had had the same problem looking for an answer, after all this time, i have just found the solution, and it has fixed it 100%
i thought i would post it here to save the time and hassles for anyone else having the same problem
the problem is that my phone would change its time 1 hour almost every time i would synch it up to the computer, i changed settings on the phone in timezone, and also the settings for daylight savings, i modified the settings using schaps config tool, and hard reset my phone countles times searching for a solution, but none of these methods worked beyond a day or so
it turned out to be a setting in the 'phone' settings 'timezone' tab, tucked away in an odd place, this checkbox was left unnoticed [one could be forgiven for assuming that time settings would be somewhere around the clock section] i guess being in the phone section it 'may' be updating the time off a phone tower or something???
anyway, checkbox is labelled 'automatic change timezone and clock' and this needs to be left UNCHECKED
Almost been a month now and problem solved
i hope this helps out anyone else having this unique problem
p.s. this would happen with WM6.1 Roms and also WM6.5 Roms
This solution has been out there now for about..... 2 years...

Phone keeps changing time zones

Hi all, my TMOUS HD2 randomly changes time zones from EST to PST at least 2-3 times a week on its own when I have "my location" picked as a time. Anyone else have this problem? I flashed to the new T-mo ROM about 3 months ago...Tj
My device and a friend's device is having the same issue. This is irrelevant to the ROM as I am running a Artemis after the 3.14 and my friend is on 1.48
mine just recently started doing that..keeps putting me in the GMT -5 (Indiana) time zone instead of the -4 (Atlantic) I've had to change it like 3 times in one day. Never had a problem with this b4. Wonder if it has anything to do with the ThrottleLauncher WP7 theme i installed on it the other night..because that time setting seems to be changing to.
my uk hd2 keeps doing this over the last week or so, randomly jumping ahead timezones. it's persisted accross multiple energy roms and a stock rom.
weird

my HD2 was doing this but only when i would go home to visit in Richmond TX. When i would update weather manually it would switch to eastern time zone. I think this is because the phone thinks I am in Richmond VA so it switches to Eastern time. I havent found a viable fix for this but its not really an issue.
IS there a chance you are using your phone in a city or town that has a common name in another state? this might be the reason. While riding my motorcycle a while back i stopped in London Arkansas and my phone thought I was in London UK.

same Indiana time zone default issue. I HAVE THE LATEST 3.14 original ROM with c00kie's home tab.
Same here with the original ROM installed. I live in GMT+1 timezone and it sets my time one hour ahead at least 5x a day. Pretty annoying.
Hmmm... wondering if this issue has no fix, or if its not wide spread enough... It DEF has something to do with CUSTOM roms, because both me and my wifes HD2 worked like champs for a month straight out of the box, with location services and the whole nine with out ANY problems, I flashed ChuckyROM and here it is... No matter how many times i change the timezone, no matter how many soft resets, no matter how many ROMS flashed, the time keeps jumping... sometimes one hour, sometimes 2, it onlys corrects when i DISABLE all time syncs and locations... WHICH SUCKS and shouldn't be the fix... ANY HELP would be appreciated , THANKS IN ADVANCE
Hi folks!
Pls. check & use this!

It should fix all time zone issuse... Just give me a feedback!

That happened to me a long time ago. And I remember I fixed it either by checking/unchecking something on the Windows Mobile Device Center (or ActiveSync), something in the sort of NOT synchronizing Outlook items (no problem with me because I never use that anyway; I use MyPhone instead).
think i have a fix
disable the option in settings - menu - all settings - personal - phone - gsm/umys services - time synch
you can leave the option in settings - data services - internet time sync enabled.
not sure why its changed, i have stock everything....

I know the problem
Hello,
I know this problem.
And I think I know the reason for this "acting out".
It started for my HD2 at the day of the
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME change.
I believe the makers of that phone forgot to install
a daylight savings option.
It would be great, if someone could make a clock that will do that,
or that will verify the time with a different time service,
taking into account daylight savings time (winter/summertime).

Nope. Its a problem for org ROMs also. It probably has somting to do with the Internet-provider or the providers of weather-app etc.
In my case the "my lokation" in the weather-app is showing wrong place. This error appeared at the same time as the clock-problem.

Clock adds 1 hour after soft reset

After the recent time change, my clock is ****ed up. Every time I restart the phone, it adds 1 hour. So, if it's 13:00 and I restart the phone 4 times, it says 17:00. It only happens when the phone service is activated. Ideas?
I have similar problem. The phone adds an hour or two randomly, and resets it self to correct time randomly.
Using the latest offical ROM from HTC.
The timestamps on SMS will also get the incorrect time if the time is wrong.

Yes, check this out. I did it and now the time is right, so I guess is something wrong with my service provider
I don't find the menus described in the linked page.
I have the same problem.
Any solutions?
Thnx

Well they're slightly different because of the HTC Sense and the Windows version, but in the Mini the steps are:
Settings/Menu/All Settings\Personal\Phone\GSM/UMTS Services and then scroll down and you'll see "Time Synchronization". Tap there and then "Get Settings".
awesome, thank you. i started to freak out
No prob, but I consider this a temporal solution, since I'm interested in having automatic time when I travel
I can report my clock worked fine after your tip.
Thanks

Same Issue HD2
I have the same issue on a HD2 (with Dutty Fam v5 ROM). I'm in the CET timezone (Amsterdam) with DST (occurred last weekend).
It even occurs when I turned off the Network Identity and Time Zone(NITZ). After a soft-reset an hour is added just after Sense is loaded completely.
I can get the right time back by:
1. changing the timezone
2. go back to a city in my own timezone
3. go back to my location
I turned of Sense and resstarted the phone again. Now it doesn't add an hour, so I think it has to be something in HTC Sense location service.
I switch back on the Network Identity and Time Zone(NITZ), and it directly an hour is added.
Now I'm confused.... So my provider (Vodafone NL) is also an Issue.
Time
Thanks it's working now.

Wow that must be a weird bug in some HTC Phones then... I think we should contact HTC and inform them about it or something
FWIW, I don't use sense and I have the time shift problem too. Just unchecked the "Time Synchronization" setting... we'll see...
Me too, I've unchecked the "time syncronization" and since now it's working fine.
tkx it works 4 me too...

Thanks a bunch Nitro.
I just hard-reseted my HD Mini and the problem is still there So no automatic time change anymore
Could it be a Vodafone NL thing ?
I live in Denmark, has a HTC HD Mini, and did never before have problems with wrong adjustment of time.
Nore here in Denmark, England - and also Holland before summer.
Last week I was in Holland again, where the clock went craisy
It just keep adding 1,2,3 and 4 hours to my time. Without any reset or any thing else.
Removed the aut. time adjustment, as described above, whereafter the time was correct for the remaing time in Holland.
When I returned to Denmark, I activated the aut. timezone adjustment again.
After one day, the phone did a one hour adjustement.
A week after, the time is still correct.
ONLY in holland the timezone adjustment went craisy ?

You can get correct automatic time change by: settings tab => Data services => Time synchronisation.
Not sure of the english menu name in french it's: services de données => synchronisation de l'heure.

I had the same problem, I went to France the past 2 days and every now and then the time on my phone changed, even when the option to auto sync time is set to false. I Live in Belgium so France is still the same GMT +1.
Try upgrading to the newest stock ROM. I saw you still run 1.07.x, but there is already a version 1.36.x.
It's not the ROM. Mine has been doing it ever since we went to daylight saving in the UK. Jumping forward an hour every day or so.
tryied to upgrade but i got the error 294 invalid vender
anyway i opened a case with HTC
but i thing my problem is due to daylight saving
but not so sure because at the same time i was in Greece wich is also diferent time zone

Maybe, but also check the values of:
HKLM\\Software\Microsoft\Clock\HomeDST
and
HKLM\\Software\Microsoft\Clock\NetworkTimeSync

Is that the same as enabling/disabling the automatic time in the phone options?
BTW what value should be in those entries? Thanks
Try to set both of them to "0", soft reset, set the correct time and time zone through settings and check if the problem still exists.
Doesn't work. As soon as I activate the automatic time, it increases 1 hour
The automatic hour must be deactivated.

This is the process to de-activate auto time update.
Go to:
Settings> Menu> All Settings> Personal> Phone> (search for) GSM/UMTS Services> Time Synchronization (second last option in list)> get settings. Un-check "automatic change time zone..."> Done
now the time will not update automatically.

Useful of what?

i followed the instructions from NitroNitrous old thread where you disable the updates.
(very well hidden settings).
Settings/Menu/All Settings\Personal\Phone\GSM/UMTS Services and then scroll down and you'll see "Time Synchronization". Tap there and then "Get Settings".

I thought about that, since it happened when they changed the time for the daylight saving thing, but it's hard to believe that many providers in different parts of the world have made the same mistake
nah! it's clearly a bug, something like network is sending the correct hour but the phone is applying by always adding daylight time saving again...

That's why there are two choices for time zone, under "Clock & Alarms".
