Problem formating the SD card

I experienced a lot of annoying lag (it was caused by unknown issue with SD).
I tried to format it with PocketMechanic but i get this message.
"Failed to format volume "Storage card". Reason for the failure:"Error code: 0x1f, A device attached to the system is not functioning". (note that i can add, delete and modify files on the card.)
tried SKtools version 4.4.xx but cannot find the format section.
Any suggestions?

I haven't tried pocket mechanic yet.
But some files are corrupted on my SD card.
How do we format it ?

Have any of you tried doing a search before posting new threads etc?

I did a first search on the forum, but didn't find the solution. (maybe I didn't used the right keywords)
Searching more in google, I found in the storage tool.
Very efficient !
As I wrote into an another post, problem is solved.
Downloaded st.ppc420.arm.cab (storage tool), and suceeded formating my SD card !
I can use my HD like a USB key again.

Strange memory loss !

I recently bought a Samsung omnia 2. But a strange thing happened that prevented me from installing programs is desired. I am buying this phone was to install a large number of books, but after installing some programs from the phone memory is full and other books can not be installed.
This is strange ; when i install the program on my storage ( ~ 16 gig ) memory the same amount of memory reduce from internal memory ( ~ 150 meg ) ! until the memory become full and critical memory low notification appear .
in the installation process i choose my storage for installation but the amount of internal memory decreased !!
it means that i can install only 150 megabyte of these books . these books are about 1 gig !!
these book installation program started from desktop and continued the installation on my PDA phone . ( Skyscape medical book )
i have Xperia X1 but there is not any problem for installing all of these book
help me please

These books are installed from CAB or an EXE on PC?
Are they in some custom format of PDF/DOC?
Are other programs/games installing fine or they decrease internal storage too?

these books are installed from exe but final installation procedure complete from device .
any program installation ( from CAB files ) decrease internal memory too .
i think this is a mistake from sumsung for memory control to prevent huge installation of program !
help me if there is any way to correct this problem for me

I would try a hard reset because it's clearly something wrong with your system. If this not help you could flash another ROM version.
Or maybe you have some backup software running in background?
I'm using stock WM6.5 ROM and have installed ~250MB GPS software with no problems.

my windows version is 6.5 stock and any backup program not running .
strange to me too ! probably hardware problem ?

Is this happenning when you're installing to My Storage (not Storage Card)?
Have you tried other microSD card?
It may be a hardware problem. Is your phone under free warranty service?

yes when i try to install on my storage this problem occured. because of 16 gig capacity i don't use memory card separately. there is a warranty service for my phone but it is not normal to me for service my only 1 month omnia !
I have my Xperia for 1 year without any problem and my previous motorola,nokia and sony ericson havenot any problem for years ! this is my first samsung devise and a bad impression

Try an application like Cleartemp or resco explorer (to empty recycle bin) to clear temporary memory .......

The problem wont be resolved. This is happening because the installation path has been hardcoded into the cab file. So no matter what installation location you choose, it will install to phone memory, which is limited to around 150 MB. To resolve this problem contact the manufacturer of the software.

Hi dear
there isn't any problem for installation of these book or other program on my Xperia X1i .
The installation location can be choosen for omnia 2 but after installation the amount of internal memory decrease too ! ( this is strange loss ).
i flash my xperia x1 and upgrade to win mo 6.5 , no any problem occured : i can install any program in memory card and my internal memory has it's amount ( no decrease ) .

i just installed andriod on my htc hd2 and it worked fine. but after rebooting, i cant get it to work again... i allready tried to delete all the files and install again, but it´s still not working. it says:

another thing ,, how i can know what my hd2 is ? is it T-mobile or Euro Version ?

if its says stuff about too many fat partitions before the lines u quoted , like here
ud best be dling the panasonic sd format utility and do a full format ... if thats the case

2 solutions
I have the same experience but my android system is stored in the root folder of the SD card. Not inside a folder named Android.
First Solution:
I found this solution to work best after experimenting with the second solution I also offer.
When I boot the phone I delete the Android Folder and the LOST.DIR folder and it works 100 %
second solution:
I found that deleting the data.img file makes HRET to run linux and install Android again. this will delete all widgets and preferences but will make the build work.
I end up installing my system on the root of the SD Card after experiencing the : "Failed to allocate the storage /binsh: can´t access tty; job control turned off" problem. This happened a mistake and it was a happy mistake as it runs nice and stable. WIN MO 6.5 IS dead to me.
I hope this helps to kill your win mo 6.5 dependency.

First, please don't bump your own thread. Second, I don't know how you're moving your app to sdcard, but if you want an effective way to move app data to sdcard (which is what is really heavy - Android/obb/ folder), install this app:

hello everyone , after updating to 370 i noticed that my sdcard isnt visible when i connect it the phone says "format it" so i did it successfully but still it isnt usable doesnt appear on any file manager but partation tools sees it , what i can do here ?
