I loaded this on my Vibrant and it took, the only thing I couldnt get was a Signal, maybe a dev can now look into this.

you do understand that what you flashed is a really old leak? it is JP1 and possibly what you flashed overrided your baseband which would cause a brick when you try to revert
And its really hard to agree with you that "everything works except signal" because i'm positive key mapping would be messed up.
.. hence the release for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740558&highlight=froyo
- If you want Froyo, flash Eugene's Froyo or Axura or whatever is your taste. But I think your phone is definitely in a rough spot because if you try to change basebands it will brick or something like that.
Good luck... next time don't flash things that are another variant of the Galaxy S series.

he should be able to still use download mode+odin, tell it to repartition and EFS Erase, use the pit file from eugene's froyo, let it go through that,it will succeed on the computer side, but the phone will be stuck in recovery,do a battery pull, hold down both volume buttons and power, plug the usb cable in,then put the battery in,when the battery shows up,keep holding the buttons until the screen goes black again, then let go of power but keep holding volume buttons, then when it goes into download mode you can let go. go back to odin, click reset, uncheck repartition and clear EFS,and flash eugene's froyo using the PDA option,it will succeed, stuck in recovery again, unplug the usb cable for 5 seconds and plug it back in. run "adb reboot" and the phone will boot up into the froyo rom,let it fully boot, then if you want to,you can use odin to flash back to J16,just do it as PDA and DO NOT check repartition or EFS clear or you will have to start this over again.

I need urgent help please

I had installed Axura 2.0.6 and Voodoo Lag Fix.
I noticed my GPS was no longer working so disabled the Voodoo lag Fix.
It was causing me problems, without knowing i decided to ODIN my Vibrant while Voodoo was still installed. After a long period of a Black screen of death and various problems. I got it finally but my wifi wasnt working buttons were inverted wouldnt recognize my sim card and i couldnt mount the phone. I attempted to do a data wipe but was unable to saying it was denied. I have no idea what to do and ive been up for hours. I am on Windows Xp and im just going crazy. Im attempting to use adb but my knowledge with adb is minimal as well. Please can anybody please please help me.
This is why I hate voodoo. Not that this happens, but because nobody reads up on how to fix it. Download eugenes froyo that doesnt brick from the bible sticky. Click repartition in odin and flash it. Then flash to regular jfd with repartition unchecked.

1. Do exactly what he said. Use 512.pit
2. For god's sake please don't install a lagfix unless you are 100% sure it's compatible with the ROM. READ the description of ROMs.
3. Please post in the right forum next time.

Did you check repartion when you load the pit file?
After you've repartitioned it, did you UNCHECK the box and then load JFD?

And I forgot: don't check re-partition when flashing Eugene's froyo. Check it when flashing JFD. You will get an error message after flashing froyo that does not brick. That's normal.

Flashed from Bionix-v 1.21 to Trigger 2.1, now my data is stuck in E.

I flashed from TW Bionix-v 1.21 to Trigger 2.1.1 and though the flash went great and the rom seemed to work perfect, my data is all messed up. It seems stuck on E now where before I was always on H. Speedtest has gone from 4000kbps down to 120kbps down. I flashed back to Bionix and even flashed in the KA6 modem that I had the best results with before and the problem still persists. In Boinix it will show the data speed as H, but as soon as I try to access the internet or use Speedtest, it drops to G, then to E. I'm lost as to where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
What about flashing back to stock using odin then reflashing the rom
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Woah, wait up don't flash back to stock or anything. Follow this thread, it has all the modem software in it. I suggest using Odin...it's real simple, just dl the file extract it and load it into the phone section in odin and hit start....BAM you got a new modem. Do tests with JL5, it's a good modem.
I was thinking of flashing back to stock but I've never done it before. Is there anything I need to do differently because of Voodoo? I may just go the AIO Toolbox method if that's ok.
I won't be doing anything until later tonight. I've flashed a few modems in the modem thread, but none have fixed this problem. I may just flash back to stock (I really don't mind), but I'm just nervous about doing it because of having Voodoo on my phone right now. Can I just flash back to stock using the AIO Tools, or is this ill-advised?
Always best to disable lag fixes, I do it even if I don't have to. If the problem is persisting through different modems I dunno what's up....maybe hardware related? Maybe try one of those cell reception mods. That'd be the absolute last thing I'd do though, try every modem if you can.
I really don't know what happened. It may have even been a bad flash with Trigger, that's when things went bad. Honestly I wish I'd have just stayed put with Bionix. The phone was working perfectly with it. Oh well, I think I'll try flashing back to stock, then going back to Bionix.
Try this:
Settings-->Wireless and Network-->Mobile Networks-->Network Mode
I have mine set to WCDMA only. I only use Auto mode when I travel outside of town. Works great and keeps me out of the edge network.

DUDE, if you haven't ever flashed back to stock, I recommend it now then reflash the new rom. It will totally clean up in ghost data in the phone.
Remember the sequence is Backup everything 1st, then disable the lagfix, Then flash the froyo that does not brick (do not check the repartition box), then flash Stock JFD (this time check the repartition box) Then Root, then, the flash your new rom then Download Rom manager and titanium backup and you are good to go.
BTW, you most likely got a corrupted bit of software in the flash or already it was on the phone but there is no way of knowing, THAT is why you should do this.

Sorry to hear that man. I've had this problem before... looong ago. I had just flashed a new release of a TW ROM and all the sudden my data was stuck on E. I was freaking out just like you haha. I odined to stock and reflashed at least 3 times and the problem persisted.
I just left the phone on overnight and it seemed to work itself out by morning. Maybe it was T-Mobile doing maintenance or maybe the phone was just being retarded...
Either way, I'd suggest flashing back to stock at least once to clear things up. Check back in the AM and see if it's fixed or not

I've never flashed back to stock, and of course all of these excellent custom roms have me flashing like a madman. I think I've flashed at least 5 different roms in the last month at least. I think I understand what you mean by "ghost" data. It's like the old days in Windows 98 where an upgrade install was never as good as a clean install. Flashing back to stock is sort of a clean install for Android I'm guessing?

Ok, this is strange. It looks like this is exactly what's happening. I'm now getting 4000+kbps down again on H. All day though the phone has been bouncing down to E every time I access the internet, go to market, etc. Upload is still quite a bit lower than it used to be though. Still, in the back of my mind though I feel like what oka said above is probably not a bad idea. For peace of mind I'm going to flash back to stock using AIO Vibrant Toolbox, then root, then flash either Bionix or Trigger back on.
Btw, for the short amount of time I had Trigger installed on my phone, I can tell you that it's a VERY nice rom. It looks great and is at least as fast, if not faster than Bionix. Great, great work.
I was having this problem earlier today too on Bionix. I was downloading Quadrant and I was stuck in E for a couple of hours. Must be something wrong with Bionix. Either way it's working now and I hope you solve your problem!

[Q] Phone Wiped clean trying to install froyo 2.2 update

I Followed the directions from a developer on this web site to install android froyo 2.2....downloaded everything I was told to...followed the directions step by step...received a signature error...then when I rebooted my phone....i found my phone top be completely swiped...contacts...texts...apps...everything but what was on my sd card...does anyone have any help or advice?
You mean, all your settings/data/apps were gone, with only the contests of the SD card remained? That's supposed to happen, you're supposed to wipe all the phone's data for such a large change.
Yes your supposed to back up your contacts and wipe data and stuff but I didn't. I went from e lair to dl30 then to eb01 never wiped. All I did was, Lear dalvik cache and works wonderful. Signature error? Are you using clockworkmod?
Yea I'm sorry I'm at work but it was two different errors regarding reading the signature or the signature name when I would try to install dl-30 through clock work mod into the reboot into recovery mode...haha wish I would have been told to copy everything to my pc! Luckily I still have my old phone to get it all back from

Lol what? Odin is 100000000000000000000000 times more risky than clockwork. The version you flash through clockwork comes rooted also.
Odin is very simple, and not risky at all if you're following directions. You have to flash the modem with Odin anyways, so why not do the all-in-one?
There is always a risk with Odin, because if it crashes, freezes, or the connection goes sour while something critical is being flashed, very bad things can happen (as in a bricked device).
But it also is true that's exceedingly rare (as in I've never actually heard of it happening barring someone physically unplugging their phone in the middle of an Odin flash), and anyways, you have no choice but to flash the modem through Odin.
I personally still wouldn't recommend using Odin for more than you absolutely need to, however.

I always recommend Odin for any major problem (and It's certainly my first choice when something goes awry). It is just so much easier to flash one of the complete modem/system/kernel packages when something goes wrong than spend forever trying to go through every obscure little possible solution.

I agree. If there was a choice between a full package with odin and cwm, I would say odin is much better. Some people dont read instructions and end up messing up their phone with cwm. Odin would be far easier to do with just a single click of the button.

If you have to do some of it with odin why not do the whole thing? And what makes it 1000000000x more risky? Its actually been REALLY simple every time i use it. There are way more directions to follow and things to screw up when doing eb01 the odin and clockwork method.

Stuck on Galaxy S screen!

Hi guys I hope someone can help me, I rooted my S and did factory reset ready to install darkys 9.3 rom, installed cwm and CF-Root-XW_OXX_JV1-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1_NO-CWM.zip that cf file, everything went ok with odin and when the phone rebooted it wont get past the Galaxy S screen, cant get into download or recovery mode and when I hold the power button it goes off and then comes straight back on, is there anything I can do to sort it, I am on Virgin, 2.2.1 JPW, thanks for any help
Did you came from another custom rom before flashing Darky's?
Have you disabled any lagfix before flashing?
Hi m8. Stock and no lagfix applied. I have been in touch with Virmin and they are couriering a new phone to me tomorrow. Thx for the reply.

No 3 buttons combo = JIG
Always Check that you have the 3 B COMBO, before flashing anything it's on a steacky thread!! (i think admin should change the color of the sticky thread).
Will they charge you for a new phone as you have a custom rom on the exchange .

No 3 button combo m8.
It is on stock m8 after doing factory reset.
GOOD .

Lagfix
I also encountered this. But my problem was that I had lagfix enabled when flashing a new kernel. Just reflashed the previous kernel and disabled the lagfix. Flashed the new kernel again and everything was good.
I also found this when updating from JM7 to JS5, directly.
Seems it was a patience issue. That screen can take a long time after a flash.
Once also it ended by a shutdown after a while. Reflashing to JM5 then to JS5 through the 3 combo buttons solved it + repartition

Man, hope you get/got your new phone but you fu**ed up. Your problem stands out like dogs balls. You've even put it in capital letters.
1. You flashed CF ROOT JV1-NO CWM.
JV1 = Gingerbread. You were on 2.2.1 Froyo. Of course it won't boot up.
NO CWM - means exactly that. What's the purpose of installing cwm/recovery then flashing a kernal that ends with NO CWM?? It doesn't support it. How were you going to flash darkys?
Man, not knocking you but you really need to read instructions before doing **** like this. Any 2.2.1 (maybe even 2.2) cf root version would have avoided this.
2. You say the phone was stock when returned because you factory reset. You forgot that you flashed a custom kernal after that based on firmware that hasn't even been officially released yet. The reason it wouldn't boot. So, it aint stock. Shouldn't matter anyway as Sammy will just force it into download mode and reflash.
3. Since you initially flashed with Odin, then 3 button method was working before. So, the lesson for us all is: jv1 kernal + froyo base = brick. Jig sellers aren't complaining.
I'm also with virgin but using docs 2.2.1 (or CM7 2.3.3 depending on the time of day). If your near Melbourne I'm more than happy to help out with your new phone.

Are any of those stock rom's you are trying, or are they all Darky's roms?
Flash a stock rom, hopefully that will get you up and running. After that, format your sd card.
couple of them are stock, none worked.
downloading a march 2011 stock firmware from samfirmware now, aswell as EZBase rom
If darkys is a 2.2.1 based rom then you need to flash to that base first.
Try a stock 2.2.1 firmware in odin with all 3 files and tick repartition. I use jpu and always works.

MY fix for broken phones is .
Use Odin flash Eclair with pit 512 and repartition checked .
Phone works flash base Froyo .
Phone works you can now customize as required .
Choose a rom this time that does not kill phone .

thanks fellas, will try that.
i've flashed about 5 ROMS and tryed repartion and none have worked, will try a eclair, gotta go download one
ok, JPU did not work. 3 files, re-partion and 512 pit
oh dear
When you say jpu didn't work, did the process actually start in Odin and complete?
If not, just reboot download mode again, close and restart odin and try again.

yes, happened that to me too. If it;s not starting anymore, than you must rewrite it's bootloader with JTAG...JIG won;t help. The point is, when you tried to go back on 2.2.1 you should first flash the bootloader with heimdal. With bootloader updated you shouldn't have any problem flashing back JM8 or something
sorry for you

may i ask what JTAG is?
There might be answer to your misery, check Yovi's thread, he found hard reset method for totally bricked phone.

Edit. Just read you can not power up. Go with Jobiza's post.
Flash just a kernel in PDA ie voodoo or speedmod k13. Nothing else and auto reboot checked. After that flash away.
This happened to me and I tried different combos for hours till this method and it worked.
Good luck mate.

Don't know did you tried it, but if you are able to go to Download Mode, download JVK with bootloaders from XDA, start Odin check Re-Partition and Phone Bootloader Update select filef from new FW connect phone and it should do the magic I hope.
