I installed Hero/Sense ROM on myTouch 1.2 but... - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Something feels unsettling... I used KiNgXKxLiCk Hero/Sense ROM (from G1 thread) that was ported from the HTC Legend, and I ignored a step but my phone functions just fine with some minor bugs and lag.
The prerequisite for this ROM is any radio and Death SPL, however I couldn't I couldn't get the required SPL to work with this ROM and I would get a blank screen whenever I tried to boot up my phone. I'm not even sure if partitioned my SD card properly as well...
Anyone here have any experience with this Rom that can explain to if there's something I'm missing?
BTW, I'm using myTouch 1.2 with stock SPL and radio.

What you were reading was specific to the Dream, not Sapphire. You're fine, carry on... As for the lag you'll probably want to try a 2.1 Hero port, Legend has 384mb RAM, Hero and Sapphire (32A like your myTouch 1.2) has 192.

The ROM I'm currently using is a 2.1 Android port. Also the myTouch you're referring to is the one without the 3.5mm headjack, my myTouch (3.5mm headjack) comes with 288mb of memory.
Anyways, is any other Hero/Sense ROM ports that are stable enough for daily use?

to root or not?

So neewb here to rooting, rooted my G1 after many reads and trys then found a easy how link.
Now have the mytouch, would like the Hero rom again without the lag and slowness of the G1 root.
My issue is I feel the mytouch is already too slow due to adding twidroid and I feel the stock keyboard is slow and I type faster then it can move?
Have they developed a 1touch root and stable hero rom where it doesnt lag and everything works on it?

Hero roms don't work well on the 32B Magic (Google branded) but they work fine on 32A.
There are Hero themed roms that work fine on the 32B though.
The 1 touch root works but it's likely to be patched soon. CyanogenMod rom works well on the 32B, nice and fast with some interesting features. New stuff from Donut is being added from week to week which keeps it interesting.

Magic ROMS on my EBI1 HTC Dream (rogers)?

So I was looking at the cyanogen wiki and noticed that the 32A magic had to use the exact same port files for their roms as I do on my Rogers Dream for Cyanogen. I really want to try Eclair. Can I just use a Magic 32A rom on my Dream?
32A has more RAM & ROM so no you cant install the actual rom that was given as a OTA to Magic users. You can go to Rogers and ask to buy a Magic if you want.Or get a hero rom from here and stick with it.

Need new rom for mytouch 3g

Does anyone have or know where I can get a Nexus One ROM or any ROM with android 2.1 that will work with mytouch 3g 32B.
Just 2.1 Rom you don't need to say Nexus cause that is only the name of a phone and one of the LWPs.The 2.1 launcher not Nexus since it will also be on another Samsung coming out.

[Q] HTC Magic 32B recommended ROM's

Hi there, HTC Magic user here.
I've gone back to stock ROMs for a bit but lately I've been wanting to go back to a rooted phone.
My previous experience with Cyanogenmod 5 and 6 has been terrible, the phone ran slow and even completely stock there would be either launcher restarts after running even the messaging app or app force closes if the launcher was kept in memory. The only ROM's that worked well were 1.6 based ones but of the three that most people use, they all have problems which make them difficult to use in the long run.
tl;dr What ROM's are you using with your 32B Magic and what optimisations do you do to stop lag and memory overflows happening?
Ezgingerbread (link in my sig) is what I usually use. Its pretty light and fast.
If you want as many cm features as possible while still having some speed try cos-ds.
If you really like cm features, there's greenromproject cm7 or anotger cm7 rom who's name I can't remember. I haven't used those yet so I can't say anything about speed there.
And these are all gingerbread roms. Idk what to suggest for other versions.. I got into android right before cm6.1

Does Gingerbread need a new radio firmware on the Magic?

Nope. There are gingerbread roms for every radio. If you are talking about the 2708+ radio then I would recommended it for the extra ram
I'm currently running Ginger Yoshi 1.2 and love it. I've used CM 5.0.8, CM6, Ginger Yoshi 1.1 and now 1.2. All have worked great on my phone. The one thing for me is that I wipe everything...everytime. To include my SD card manually. I save my files on my computer and put them back after I load up the ROM.
help
Hi Everybody,
do you known or do you have a link to download the ROM please.

Search is your friend
If your phone is rooted you could always get Rom Manager Free from the Market and get the rom of your choice. I use CyanogenMod-6.0.0-DS and the phone runs great. It's actually the only ROM my phone has been able to handle fully with no issues. OS 2.2 is the highest I would put on the MT3G. I've tried Yoshi's, EzTerry, Greenrom, etc.. and all either had issues or just wouldn't work.
Search in this forum, RC Magic V7, SFM 1.2 sense 2.1 (Its great recomended), or clean magic (Fast). All whit htc sense! I tested all and work greats!

Have used both SFM 1.2 and Clean Magic 5.01. Would highly recommend either of them. The new lock screen in SFM 1.2 is very cool though

Sorry, just realised they are both 32A only ROMs. Maybe take a look at Ginger Yoshi 1.2

I've tried biffmod, gingeryoshi and few others before them, unfortunately each left me wanting to try another rom. Now I'm on froyobylaszlo I simply don't have that yearning for another rom anymore, and I suppose that says it all. I think I made a couple of tweaks but nothing major(can't remember though!) and it runs great, very smooth and fast.
Only issue I have is running speedtest, where it reboots occasionally.

Thanks for that, but they're both 32A ROMs.
My phone is the 32B and only has 192mb of RAM so I don't think they'd run

The ones I recommended above actually are for the 32b though.......
If you need links let me know.
Recommend the rom's froyobylaszlo.

[32A]What's the fastest ROM?

I haven't found a topic about this issue, except this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902405
What is the fastest ROM for Magic 32A? I don't care about radio or spl I can change them. As for the rom I don't care about looks or super duper features, I just want it to be as fast as possible with all things working properly. Right now I think I'm using Ginger Yoshi 1.5.
Completely no one knows?
I like carz's CM7.1 port

try gy 1.5 with old radio the baterry long lasting, cm 7.1 have battery drain issue,
If you want speed, find a light donut or cupcake rom with as few features as possible.
Well, since this is probably going to just be an opinion thread, I'll give mine...
You probably don't want to go all the way back to a 1.5,1.6 ROM, because you will be missing out on a lot of apps that just are not compatible with the old Android versions.
But with the current version ROMS my suggestion is either the Ginger Yoshi 1.5 (2.3.5), good ROM, I've used them all the way from the 1.3
Or the Stock OTA 2.1 ROM with root, because it doesn't have all of the features packed in, but is a solid ROM, and since it is rooted you can still use tethering or whatever your purpose for rooting is.
I say 1.6 for speed...for some speed and batteries with features I said a nice eclair like super e or stock 2.2
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Opinion time? Yay!!!
Best donut: super d
Best eclair: idk, haven't used it
Best froyo: dreamteam froyo by me
Best gingerbread: ezgingerbread by ezterry
All of these (maybe not super d) work with 32b and 32a old radio
I like SFM rom (gingerbread):
