Hi all,
Has anyone else noticed how much battery usage the screen is using? I know, I know its a larger screen but whenever I check the battery usage in settings (Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Usage -> Whats using my battery) it says the screen has been using about 70-75% of the battery as opposed to everything else which is about 4-5%. I checked with a friends regular Desire and his screen was only using around the 7-8% mark?? I know the screen is bigger on the DHD but really, that much more power consuming?
Anyone else noticed this? Or is mine bugged...
MOD Edit: Please post your question on the existing Battery thread.
Cheers,

So after reading everywhere on the forums how amazing the Atrix's battery life is, I took a look into my phone to see why mine was so shoddy. Turns out that when I type *#*#INFO#*#* on the dialer and go to Battery history, under Sensor usage it says that the Android System has been using it 100% of the time the phone has been on for "Since last unplugged", "Total since boot", and "Total in all time". The thing is, I stopped using auto brightness a few days ago, so I don't know what the problem is. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this typical of the Atrix? My N1 never had this problem. Any suggestions please? Thanks.

I have the same battery drain issue while the phone is on stanby. I fully charge my battery to 100%, left the wifi on and went to sleep. Woke up and battery is 60%. Try again the next night. 100% battery, turn wifi off and when I woke up the battery was 96%. So from 10pm-5am i lost on 4%. So something is wrong with our wifi sensor.
Well leaving wifi on will drain the battery. My issue is the proximity sensor I believe. I factory reset my phone just now and I'm still plagued with the same issue. So I don't believe it's a rogue app. Can anyone look at their battery history and tell me their usage percentage? I'm afraid my problem is a hardware issue now.
Can anyone check out their battery info with *#*#INFO#*#* and tell me their Sensor Usage by Android System? I just need to confirm to see if this is a hardware issue for me. Thanks!
I'm not having any battery issues and my sensor usage is 100%.
I leave GPS on, I've been texting on and off, played about half an hour of angry birds, and spent maybe 30 minutes on a call. Started at 8am now it's 1:47pm and my battery is at 60%. I'm not using juice defender or any battery management software.
Hope this helps.

Mine shows the same thing. I don't think this is an error. The system needs to be aware. This sensor could be the unlock button. I have great stand by batt unless wifi is on which is normal

Ah I see, thanks for your input guys. It's just that I haven't had the greatest battery life, I can just see it drop with battery circle widget sometimes :/. Plus, coming from a N1, its sensor usage was low so I thought this was a problem. But this puts my worries to rest, thanks.
Seems every Atrix is a new world, just as my Milestone.
Do you guys have "Sensor Rotation" enabled in the Phone preferences? This was known to drain the battery of the Nexus S/Vibrant.
Hi
i don't particularly have problems with the battery life of my s4, but sometimes i get weird drains, like 25% overnight. The weird thing is i deactivate every toggle except for flight mode and battery saving mode. I thought it's rather peculiar that my battery drains in what in my opinion should be like the most battery friendly mode i could think of.. anyone any suggestions on how to solve this? On the first picture i dont really complain about the first 2 drops because that could be caused by gaming, but maybe it's in there too, the last one however is with all toggles off from a certain point (you can see my wifi and screen turn off), but there isn't really a change in steepness of dropping... the second picture is my toggle setup. Any help would be appreciated

I have exactly same problem! Any ideas?
well as always... first check your wakelocks with better battery stats (free on xda forums).
i had a drain over night too. even on my s2.
it was my routers fault... bought a new one and drain is fixed.
but maybe it's just an app for you which gets your phone out of stand by. so check out better battery stats
Same here. Already used better battery stats. Nothing suspicious which could've drained the battery that much

TRy installing greenify it will tell u which apps are breaking sleep state and u can hibernate it i easily reach 6 plus hrs on my device
And try to delete unused samsung bloatware
I just notice after 4.3 update, my battery life suffers a lot. When I check BBS, the main culprit is surfaceflinger. I know its all about the display it shows in the screen but how can it eat almost all the power? Max screen time I get is 2.5 hours. Anyone experiencing it? Last post regarding this says its normal but I have my phone for the longest time but I think the drain is not normal.
So I've had the 6p for about a month now and I'm absolutely loving the phone, but I have one huge issue which is the battery life. I read online that this phone is getting 6+ hours SOT, and every charge cycle I check my stats and I'm getting like barely 3 hours SOT. I feel like this shouldn't be happening and was wondering if anyone could clue me in on maybe something I'm doing wrong. I am rooted and running the latest Chroma and also using the latest elementalX kernel. I have Xposed installed which i feel shouldn't really be affecting battery life too much. I have amplify and greenify which should be boosting battery life but those are also not working. What I do on my phone is all day snapchatting, sometimes checking twitter and some would say heavy texting. If anyone could tell me why my battery isn't getting anything near the average it should be getting, or has any suggestions it would help lots!! Sorry for the long post, but i wanna resolve this issue
Hey, charge your phone to 100% (leave it charging for half a hour after it says that it's full). Then use it normally, and when it's almost empty, take screenshots of battery statistics and post here.
Also, what are your settings? Brightness, are you using 4G data constantly etc.
What I've read, Greenify messes up Doze.

Do you go off and on your phone a lot? Like check it, lock it, check it again? I guess stop starting would describe it? If so, then 3 hours is the expected screen on time for that usage. On constant usage you would get 4 hours+, for sure.

The screenshots could indeed be useful.
As you described, you use snapchat allot. Snapchat is a real battery drainer. It decreases screen time allot, because when snapchat is open, it enables both front and rear camera and gps and maybe even more things that I'm not aware about. So basically it enables everything thats power hungry on this device. If you want to keep snapchatting allot, I don't think you'll will get to 6 hours sot.
Maybe you can use a custom kernel. I personally use the latest Franco Kernel, that kernel has tweaked some stuff so the phone uses the battery friendly cores more than the power hungry cores, without having noticeable performance loss.
But as said a screenshot would be nice, maybe you can install better battery stats (it's on xda) for even more advanced stats.
And remove amplify and greenify, you get the same or better battery results, but keeping the phone more functional.

I never use 100% brightness usually only at about 30%-70%. And yes I am always using data as I need emails to be sync'd and have many social media notifications.

Umm, well i get texts so I respond to them and then lock my phone again but yes I am turning the display on and off, but isn't that what most people do?

I've removed greenift and amplify, I'll post my screen shots once I get them Thanks for the help so far guys
Also try this:
Go to Settings > Location > Menu > Scanning > Wi-Fi scanning > disable
Go to Settings > Location > Menu > Scanning > Bluetooth scanning > disable
This was the first thing I did upon unboxing my precious.
So after doing what you guys told me to do I have gotten an extra hour out of the battery. Although yesterday I didn't use my phone as much as I usually do, due to being busy. Do you guys think this is the best its gonna get?!

Glad to help! If you do a YouTube search, there's a lot of tips to optimize our phone.
I have seen better battery stats than mine. I don't know If something's wrong with my device (I have warranty tho so if it is, I can replace it)
I noticed that wifi is at the top of the list so I'm not sure what's going on.
I have greenify set for facebook because It destroys any battery. Also I disabled my location in case it was google now.
Accubattery shows 55% consumption while screen on (3h 29 SOT) while 38% of the battery gone while the screen is off (80% of that time is in deep sleep)
In the android's battery stats, wifi appears above screen in battery consumption.
Overall it's 16h 45 min of total battery life at 5% battery left.
I have seen 5h, 7h SOT so I don't exactly know what to expect.
I really need a hand because I can't let this pass if it's really a battery issue.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe you want to post a BBS log in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884 to get proper help.

Nobody knows which device, bootloader status, dual sim, WiFi, apps, settings, rom etc. you are using. So please be so kind and provide these informations.
Also a full cycle of better battery stats is useful with all screens provided.
And as bullfinch110 said: there are threads(older) with battery tips
I'm sorry. I couldn't find a way to upload screens without external links and xda wouldn't let me.
Its xt1641, dual sim but i've only charged it with one.
Stock 6.0.1 Rom
Locked bootloader
Wifi is always on in that cycle. I've disabled today "enable wifi on deepsleep" to see what's up
I've also restored network settings.
