[Q] MyTouch 3G 32A 3.5mm SPL/Radio help? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey guys, so I've been searching around a few forums looking for some new roms to try out (I've had cyanogen since I rooted my phone) and I have found that I need the 6.35 radio for virtually all of them. I'm pretty sure I'll need to flash a new SPL and the new radio, but I'm a bit confused as to how the 3.5mm and the regular phone have different radios that I may need to download. I am trying to be very cautious as to doing this taking the risk of bricking my phone, which is why I made this thread. I was wondering if anyone with some radio and spl knowledge could help me out a bit on this one. Here is my fastboot:
SAPHPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02
Oct 21 2009,22:33:27
I'm not sure that I have an engineering spl, so I think I'll need to get one. Anyway, here is a summary of what I need help with: Is it possible to update my radio in order to run this roms that require a 6.35 radio? And where can I find a 6.35 radio for the 3.5mm jack if it is possible to update the radio?
Thanks a ton in advance for anybody who can help me answer these questions. If you need any more information from me, then please let me know.

Newbie SPL Questions.

I'm new to putting custom firmware on the android platform, and I've been looking around, but haven't really found anything that answers a few questions I have about the SPL
What are the advantages of flashing a new SPL?
Does it fix problems with the ROM, or increase functionality/usability?
I have an HTC Magic from Canada on Rogers:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (SAPP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I have loaded on Amon_RA's 1.6.2H Donut Rom, and his Recovery RAv1.2.1H.
Thanks,
Dave
No advantage to changing the SPL.
It is the "software program loader", as long as it does that and allows you to flash "alternate" ROMs you are in business.
It is also one of the things that messing with, and breaking, can brick your phone. Only worth doing if you have a "perfect" SPL which will not allow anything other than official carrier updates.

Engineering SPL & Radio Question

Hey guys, i have a rooted 32A HTC magic, and am running "KiNgxKxlick AOSP 2.1" which is a 2.1 Rom with SenseUI.
However, i have never updated my radio or added and Engineering SPL, since buying the phone, ie this is completely stock.
my phones details are
SAPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I wanted to run a newer faster rom, like the new Eris Dump for the HTC magic.
This specifies a new radio 6.35, so do i need to update to a new Engineering SPL, and the latest radio, or is this included?
Should i upgrade to 6.35 Radio and 1.76.2007 SPL using the cursordroid guide?
if other wise, please let me know what i should do.
(btw I couldnt post URL's to show what i was talking about asmy acount doesnt let me post URL's yet)
Thanks in Advance
Follow cursor's guide, you already have the proper setup to flash to the new radio and hboots, since you already have an engineering SPL (1.33.2010 with S-OFF).
Make sure to follow the guide exactly, otherwise you could brick your phone. You will need to know how to use fastboot. I've flashed back and fourth 4 or 5 times now between new and old radio testing roms, its a cakewalk if you follow the guide.

Question about the need to upgrade SPL & Radio

I have a 32b with
SPL: HBOOT-1.33.0004
RADIO: 2.22.19.26I
I saw several opportunities to upgrade either spl or radio or both. But I don't see why I would need to do that. Does it bring along extended capacity? Speed? Anything else? Or is it just about compatibility with some ROM?
Which SPL and RADIO would you recommend now for FROYO?

Good Question. I was thinking about the same thing...
I have the same question. Does having the newer radio improve anything?
Right now I am running CM6 with Pershoot's latest kernel.
I used the Universal Androot to root it and Rom Manager to install the rest.
Here is what I have for SPL & Radio
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-2.22.23.02

Any advice?
Well, I'm not expert in these things,
but as far as i know, with a newer Radio you will get a better reception and signal quality,
plus there is some Rom are cook to work with specific Radios,
and about the SPL, you need to have and Eng-SPL with S-OFF,
in case if you messed anything up and you messed the recovery menu as well (as some people did)
the Eng-SPL will save your life
so, long story short, you can't brick your phone if you have an Eng-SPL/S-OFF
MOD EDIT: STRIKEOUT ALL INACCURATE INFORMATION
Hey there!
A few things you need to know:
1. If it's working just fine, leave it alone.
2.Those with 32B phones should keep their current radio and, at most, upgrade to an engineering SPL to switch security to OFF.
3. Owners of the MyTouch Fender/LE/1.2/whatever-the-hell-it's-called (the one with the 3,5mm audio jack) should NEVER touch their radio and SPL unless they want to brick their phones. You'll have to switch radios/SPLs during rooting, but will need to revert back to stock in order to get it working right.
4. The only ones who can switch between different versions of radio/SPL are those with the 32A (CPLD-12, no audio jack), as a few sense ROMs only run on a specific radio/SPL combo.

By myTouch 1.2/LE, keinengel means you. Don't hangs a thing or you'll either brick your phone or never get a ROM to work.

Pretty much everything that you said here is WRONG!
You don't need an Eng-SPL.
You don't need S-OFF
You can brick your phone with S-OFF/Eng-SPL
Please don't post incorrect information again or you can be banned.
I will be reviewing your future posts. First warning!

[Q] Need help upgrading magic

Hi,
I have some questions I need help with. I would like to upgrade to 2.2 ROM (any stable ROM is ok). I read most of the tutorials and other people's post, but I can't find a simple way to upgrade because of my HBOOT and RADIO version. I'm afraid of bricking my phone. Is there a way I could upgrade my phone without having to change the HBOOT or RADIO version? If not, then is it possible for me to use SuperOneClick to root my phone, then use Radio Switcher to change the RADIO version?
HTC MAGIC
Sapphire PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT - 1.76.0007 (SAPP 10000)
CPLD - 12
RADIO - 6.35.07.29
Thank you.

[Q] questioned radio/SPL combination

Dear friends,
I recently rooted my T-Mobile MT3g w/audio jack (I found this particular device very confusing). Installed CM 6.1 on it w/ ezBiffTestKernel20101024-ebi0_S.zip to avoid green tinting.
It's too bad I still have an old radio on the phone (upgraded from 1.6)
so my biggest concern is choosing right radio / SPL
I guess 2825 or 2708 (G) is the right choice, but what about SPL? I'd prefer engineered for future tweaks
My parameters are:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G (well I guess its not real 32A since its not Fender or Magic)
HBOOT-1.33.0013
RADIO-2.22.23.02
Any suggestion for radio / SPL versions will be highly appreciated!
I can even do some donations for the project, just tell me how and where.
PS. OK, more simple question
Can I flash 1.33.2010 and 2708 (2825) radio?
Also can they be flashed via Amon RA's custom recovery (from sd card)?
Thanks a lot in advance!
