Froyo back on opensource samsung dot com - Galaxy S I9000 General

Froyoy is back on opensource samsung dot com :]
Now i have cannot connect to update server from Kies, for about 3 hours.
Can somebody get froyo from kies ?

Anyone know if anything has changed in the source?
Actually I downloaded it last week so I will look.

Sorry, if im wrong. I thought that on that opensource was froyo in the time when it cames as update for Scandinavian countries. As i remember, it was there for few days and then disapeared.
PS: sry for my english.

Quickly upgrade through KIES

As you may know, KIES will let you download official updates only if the "SoftwareRevision" and "ProductCode" match
I've made some registry files which will let you upgrade without manually editing the registry.
it's pretty simple:
1.connect your device to the computer
2.open KIES
3.load the desired reg file
4.try to update (some versions need "Test Mode" to be turned on)
if it doesn't work:close KIES, delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung and then try again (KIES will rebuild the values, this time your device will be in number 1)
currently there are reg files for the following firmwares:
JM1 (product code XEU)
JM2 (product code XEE)
JG8 (product code XSG)
please add more combinations
Where i can get the product code for Bulgaria ? my phone was with JF5 stock but i flashed JM1
EDIT: Deleted XXX trick, needs more research !
love this! kies upgrades are much easier. Now i dont have to reinstall all apps and settings.
upgraded to JM1
when i used the XXX trick, only JFA was offered

Stick this thread.
can you explain with a little more detail the point of this ? surely you dont want to be downloading foreign firmwares or am i missing the point

I'm from Israel, there are no local firmwares so I must use foreign firmwares
The "point" is to make a database with combinations of product codes and firmwares
some people are more comfortable with KIES (although I prefer odin) and this just can make their life a little easier when upgrading.
one more advantage when upgrading through KIES: your data isn't lost (but only some times which I haven't figured out yet)
I too vote for stickying this thread, knowing working combinations for firmware files would be of great help for my upcoming Kies upgrade helper tool

Cool, this upgrade-"hack" works, I run the XEEJM2-file, and Kies enables me to actually upgrade to JM2.
It downloads the update, the phone restarts to Download-mode, but then I get an error-message on the PC, regarding Binaryloadermgr.exe failing. First it was because of a rapi.dll-file, then when I found the rapi.dll file and put it in the right directory, it gave me another error-message..
But all this might be because of Win7 x64...
Should try on a XP machine too
thanks.
I succesfully upgraded from jf3 to jm1.
can anyone tell me if this trick will work for froyo update as well?
So let's say if samsung releases froyo at the end of September and I follow exact steps as shown above, will I get upgrade to froyo instead of JM1?
Also what does JF3 and JM1 all mean?
I know that they are different firmware versions available but how do you know which one is the latest?
I think J means 2010 and M means perhaps August?
Cheers
Are you saying that using this method I can upgrade to JM1 without going through this flashing stuff? At the moment I have JG5 with Kies telling me "Your device cannot be updated"

O2 UK...still no froyo!

Checking Kies daily now and still only JM1 available to upgrade to...
What gives?

Me too, I've flashed my phone to O2 UK stock FW two weeks ago waiting for froyo but nothing so far. Going to flash XEU on 15th nov if nothing changed.

I feel your pain.. Still nothing on Orange UK either.
I emailed Orange to ask if they could tell me when it would be released, got this reply:-
"Thank you for your email regarding your Samsung handset.
I am sorry to learn that you are unaware of our process regarding firmware updates for Orange phones. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
I would like to advise that Orange customers are not able to obtain firmware updates direct from Samsung themselves, this is due to the Orange branding that you have on your phone that allows you to use this on our network.
Please find below a link to our website where you are able to check in the future if an update via Orange has been released.
http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Sa...96364420640&product=Feature&t=Product&tabid=1
Be aware that your handset may not be available on the listings until if or when an update is released.
When a new update is made available by a handset manufacturer they will pass a version of this to Orange so that we can run the required tests to confirm that this update they have released will co-exist with the Orange branding that you are required to use on your phone.
It is possible that the new update that is released may not co-exist with the Orange branding and thus we will not be able to release the update for the Samsung Galaxy, if they can not co-exist and we were to release this to your phone, this could effectively be detrimental to your handset and Orange will not process for this reason.
If the update version can not co-exist with the Orange branding then we will wait for Samsung to release a new update to which we will restart the testing process accordingly.
Be aware that it is not possible to advise of any estimated timescale for the testing of this update by Orange, furthermore, we can not guarantee that an update will be released at all regarding the Samsung Galaxy as the updates that could be released may never work alongside the Orange branding on the phone.
Because some of this information is speculative and based on situations regarding the testing of updates that may or may not ever be released by Samsung and the time it takes to complete the testing of the new updates, please accept my sincere apologies that we can not be more specific regarding your query.
As with the current Android update it has been released via an Over-The-Air format, this may be the situation for the the next available update, but this method we will not be able to confirm until the update is valid for Orange UK handset users when it has been released.
Please be advised that the answers to many common queries can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions section in the Help and Support option on the Home page of our website.
www.orange.co.uk
I trust this information clarifies your query"

Could u tell us: pda, phone and CSC versions please ?
I would be grateful, cuz I'm waiting for O2 FW just for the APN settings and for future updates.
If I update to XEU Froyo version now can I update to O2 Froyo version when they decide to release it?
Just thinking about warranty etc...

You can always change back to what you need via Odin if you're comfortable with that. If not, wait for official Kies update or you'll have lots of work to do.

Model : GT-I9000
Firmware 2.2
Baseband Version : I9000XXJP
Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build number : Froyo.XXJPO
Regards Jim
JPO from samfirmware sets product code to xxkor :/
While they claim that it is europian firmware, so ... and does not have cz/sk swype. I have backup of some important files so ot is not prob, but better is to be pattient and wait for official froyo. This is my advice for ordinary peoples.

I am happy to use Odin and don't mind the effort but are there actual O2 ROMs around that I can flash back onto the device later if needed?
Also will flashing an XEU ROM change my product code?

i'm O2 SGS user uk, updated my sgs last night to JPA via kies, didn't need reg edit hack... had jp6 (via kies using reg edit) previously. was available since 15/11/10 @ 2100 GMT, recommend rooting SGS via pc and OCLF, quad score before was 980 after was 1800.
much more solid compared to JP6.... need to fully test it but why you reading this get the new firmware!!!
forgot to add, needed to click the update firmware button more then once as i think the server which you download JPA from is quite busy, it is there though, thank goodness i don't need to deal with kies for a while!

Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Froyo 2.2.1 bad update

Hello,
i have a SGS i9000 and a few weeks ago i went to the service for a software repair and since then my phone has:
PDA: I9000XFJS4
PHONE:I9000XXJPY
CSC I9000XFJS8
Build info: 2011.02
I repeat this is the Froyo installed by the guys at the service
And today i head that 2 days ago there was released Ginderbread Stock 2.3.3 for it BUT: when entering Kies and after updating it with the latest version: 2.0.2.11071_128 it STILL says that:
Your phone cannot be updated
I saw that there was KOR selected so i selected CNX, ORO and tried to install the Cosmote csc but didn't found it...
As i understood... this is a weird froyo version... JS4/JPY/JS8
Do you believe it will be available a gingerbread STOCK version for my version and if not... what can i do to install a usable froyo version so i can update via kies the STOCK gingerbread 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 for CNX/ORO Romania version
In this moment i have it rooted but can be unrooted anytime and it is NOT lagfixed
Regards
Ionut
dude.
you need to reflash official froyo.
you can find it here:http://www.mediafire.com/?xxjnl7bxi15xj8v (this one is for ORO/CNX/Cosmote). using ODIN.
after that you can use kies to update without a problem.
thx
i'll do it right now.. but.. WTF.. this is the version that those morons from HAT Romania installed it, and seems like it's all messed up... damn it
Thanks, i installed it with odin 1.7 and pit s1_odin_20100512.pit
i'll install 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 via kies
Thanks a lot
PS: first there was a failure but tried it again and was ok. Thx again You're a savior

New Mango rom by Samfirmware coming this week?

New Bada 2.0 roms and a Mango release this week.
This is what they said 3 hours ago. Maybe it is i8700xxki1..what do you think about it?
If so, really thanks to Samfirmware
Can you post a link or a screenshot to where you found this info? I'm watching samfirmware posts on twitter and saw nothing about a new windows phone firmware release. Thanks
Its on facebook

Can't wait for no more. Very eager. Hope hidden wifi issue will be solved in the next generation....
It might be official version which will be provided by Samsung... via Zune.

yeah, rumours are that it will be out oh thursday
According to me it is KI1 and it has new radio/firm/boot as kh2 with the "only" difference it has official Mango and no brand. Really hope so. Thanks again SamFirmware
EDIT : i can see no more the post on facebook. Can you? I think they cleaned it
Edit 2: Official answer by SamFirmware "Moderator post to fast something. Communication problem. That why we removed. Sorry." No ROMs coming this week. Thread can be closed.

Communication problem? Maybe some English lessons would help them cause I can't make any sense of what they said there.
so, we will see!
Their English is not one of the best, but please try to understand. English is difficult for everyone who comes from all the countries except for uk/us/australia etc...i understood everything they said so we don't need to insult them.
Anyway the final mango ROM is coming in 2 days via zune. Why not just wait for it?
That is not a rom. First of all a rom contains new firmware/radio and bootloader, the "thing" that should come in 2 days is an "update", Mango 7720.68. Secondly Samsung said one month ago that before Mango update they would have released a firmware update to let us receive Mango. Before that we won't be able to get Mango, so I think we will have to wait for long time yet..
just think a second, all the people that don't know this forum and are not able to flash the phone how do they could update, the official mango release for everyone and every brand of cell phone will come through Zune
brands like samsung...htc...they have the rtm and customize it for their phones then they send it back to ms and will be released through Zune

Radio and bootloader ARE updated through imageupdate, check package MODEM - it contains both radio and bootloader.
One would assume that they would make one big update containing all of this stuff - Omnia 7 can receive Mango update, we already tried it with the XXKH2 ROM's .pks that was with it. Update through beta to RTM and deploy that PKS to install the OEM part of the upgrade. Worked fine.
So you are saying that omnia 7 will have Mango even without drivers update right? I have KC1 now i hope this is enough to get Mango
it's good to see someone from samfirmware here.
I would like to ask one question regarding samfirmware website.
Why is there no direct way to find windows phone roms?
When you go to toolbox section, and firmwares, there you can only choose bada, symbian, windows mobile, but no windows phone.
Where do you guys put all the latest wp7 roms?
Windows Mobile is the same section als Windows phone 7
15.09. and no mango ?
It drives crazy.... Where would our mango be??????

Rogers Sources on GitHub - 2.1 / 2.3.3

started playing around on github after downloading rogers source for 2.1.
the link on http://opensource.samsung.com for 2.2 was broken. I Emailed them to fix it.
I also put in an official request for Rogers 2.3.3 sources as well, the update got released few months ago now.,
If anyone else would like the Gingerbread sources i suggest you go there and make a request as well and flood their inbox. CLICK THE WEBMAIL BUTTON TOP RIGHT CORNER. their own messaging service says if you dont get a reply in 24 hours to try again. so i will and i suggest others do too.
when writing your request, make sure to say, " You want the source code to study, learn, and to attempt to improve on the coding. " also say things such as " you are from a group of many that are looking to work on this "
If you can put in a request, Thankyou. GOT SOURCES
If you want to check out the souces, as they are uploaded, check them out on my github, and ENJOY!
2.3.3 now up!
https://github.com/TRusselo
As the links, and sources become available i will upload the others.
YES... I know samsung has the option to get them to upload the souce to github for you.... yeah... actually get them to do it!... its on their site for the public, their legal obligation is done. I learned git basics and downloaded and uploaded before i ever (never sofar) got a reply.
2.3.3 uploading ATM 20 min should be up. im going to bed NOW,
