Hello,
I am using the HD Mini but dislike Sense. So I am trying to do without. But today I discovered a problem I see no solution for, hope someone can help me here.
With Sense disabled I am using the 'standard' agenda application. But when I try to create a new appointment I do not have a button to confirm/save it. Only menu option I have is cancel...
Anyone having the same issue and/or a solution? I am using the standard HTC ROM.
Regards,
Peter
Just found my own solution by using a more generic search... sorry about that. It seems that the back button does the trick.
Which raises another question to me.. is the 'back' button actually the 'ok' button I had before on me previous WinMO device?
Back button of HD mini works in the same way as the Ok button of previous WinMo devices.

hi guys.
I successfully BigStoraged my xdaII mini, but noticed that since then I am unable to set "rotate screen" as one of my hardware buttons!
Before the rom flash, I used Power Buttons app to set the voice record button to rotate my screen, but now it doesn't appear in the list of options.
does anyone know why?
many thanks...
Can't tell you what the problem is, but I'm using a big-storaged ROM and do not have this problem.
So this might not have to do with the BigStorage fix.
What ROM are you using?
HTC X-Button is now on the upload FTP in the Tools and Programs area - works great on the Hermes - use the new applet in the Settings menu to configure.
Thanks, moved to safe heaven: HTC X-Button.CAB
Report: Did not work on my 8525.
@patmannyc:
You have to enable it here first:
Start -> Settings -> System -> X-Button
Perfect...
Running well on my UNI_Beta 3.2..
Thank's
does this app allow real closing via the ok button as well as the x button?
It works great on my O2 trion ^^

No, this program allow close program by tapping "x" on the screen .
Thanks,
I uess there is no point in using this if you already have something like spb today plus then.
I nearly got excited!

Probably not much point as you say. I'm going to try it just to see all the options it has. If it's good it stays, if not bye bye!!

A very lightweight version instead of having to have something better, which is good.
I wish they'd integrate it with the ok/close buttons on the device though to make one handed use easier. By that I mean, press button = ok, hold button = close.
This or magic button? I feel magic button is better, lets u see the taskbar.
It does what it was intended to. Good work.
sutheep: yes, i tried this and stay with magic button 2
program is a bit cleaner than magicbuttons.
anyway, just need to find a simple battery program (since I've been using the one in magicbuttons anyway)
If you are looking for a small battery monitoring program try to find the program named "batti". It's really small and work good.
I found that, unlike other similar software, it closes ActiveSync, and handles not responding apps just like on BB: shows a message that the app does not respond and offers to kill it.
i thing it has a bug. try to tap x button when phone app active, it closes down phone app and it realy kills it so your phone app won't start anymore
Wouldn't SmartsKey works to achieve this?
With the very few hardware buttons on the HD2, it is nice to be able to program them to do multiple tasks, on double press, triple press, and long press.
Most button remapper apps I've tried don't work at all on HD2--like Doublelauncher, Vito Button Mapper, etc.
H button, not exactly a remapper, but adds some nice functionality to buttons, doesn't work on HD at all either.
I've only found one button remapper app to work at all on HD2, on some of the buttons--AE Button Plus.
Not completely happy with that though. I can only get it to work on 3 of the 7 buttons. Also, it is running in the background all the time, eating up memory, shortening battery life, etc. My HD2 seems to take a whole lot longer to boot up, since installing it.
I came across a thread of what sounds like an excellent button remapping app--
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
The only catch though--it is only for the Rhodium, not for Leo or other devices.
Is there anyone here capable and interested to adapt that button mapper for the HD2? (I'm not a developer myself. Sure would be great though, if someone created that!)
(I have the TMobile USA HD2, latest stock ROM, with latest CHT. I assume such an app would work on both Leo versions.)

PS In the absence of such an app for the HD2(other than AEB+), is there a way to remap HD2 buttons via the registry, to have different functions for double-tap, triple-tap, and long press?

I am quite familiar with that thread, and participated in it a lot.
However, it does not address my question in this thread at all!
Look at the question in my OP. It says specifically--other than AEB+. The thread you pointed to is a thread about AEB+.
Also, I pointed to the thread of a particular app that is available for Rhodium, and asked if there might be a similar app for the HD2? (No, AEB+ is not a "similar app" to the Rhodium app.)
there is a function to remap buttons in pocketshield too
but i dont think that its better than AEButton Plus.
Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmMU2b6TOEY#t=2m15s
On my HD2 stock it is only possible to remap: SEND, HOME*, START, BACK*.
*BACK only if not using Sense
*HOME will respond to remap action but will also take you to home
I second this request. The remapper for the TP2 the OP mentioned was absolutely perfect. You could remap down to the application level and could send button presses in multiple configurations to either the OS or the app in question. Fantastic. I hope that such an app can be developed for the HD2, which needs it even more than the TP2.
I didn't get arguments against AEB+. Yes, it is in-memory resident, but this is way things work - some app must listen keys, if you want map via registry - you just configure some app to listen and run functions. AEB is a one of such apps. And yes, AEB can hook each of 7 keys on HD2.

But I believe it has same limitations, an AEB user writes this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7663680&postcount=123)
I wanted to assign a task manager to the backspace button, but it's useless, if it doesn't work as long as you are within Manila.

This thread is not an argument against AEB+. I am using it, and purchased it, as it is the only way I have found to remap buttons on the HD2. (Certainly NOT all 7 like you claim, but this thread is not the place to discuss it. Look at the other thread that was referred to, which is a discussion of AEB+.
Please do not hijack this thread into a discussion of AEB+, which it is not about.
This thread is about that other button remapper which someone here on XDA developed for the Touch Pro, which sounds like a much better solution, asking if someone might like to port that to the HD2?
This thread is about t
Hi,
As we all aware of the frequent usage of home/back/settings buttons requirement when using android os. The issue with the hd2 being the case that these buttons are mechanical. Over the time it is certain that these buttons(especially on hd2) will become loose. I was just wondering if there is any solution for this. I remember seeing that Droidx has a built in soft button toolbar which pops up as required. If that is the case, is there a package/app available for hd2 that makes this possible? Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.

I'm using Smart Taskbar as an alternative. Serves me well so far. Download from Market.
The smart taskbar is great, except that i wish it also had the back button and settings button action built into it. Do you know of any apps that simulates those actions?
Thanks though,

Havn't come across any so far... you can customise and add the Settings app into the Quick Launch List. No back button alt though.
I've installed CyanogenMod 7 on my HD2 but having trouble
to get an app menu key. I thought it would be the windows key
but it just exits the application to the main menu.
For example in contacts - I need to press the menu key to see the application
menu - without the menu button it is not much use.
I tried to remap the keys but the only key that I can use would be the back key.
But this would mean i loose the back key which is not desirable too.
I'm not sure if I miss anything but appreciate if anybody could point me into the right direction.
thanks
HJ
It is the Windows key.

does your Windows key work properly under WM? if so, and if in Android you get exit after pressing the windows (central) key, sth is wrong with your build, maybe consider either updating or switching to other,
as temporary solution enable Tablet Tweaks in Settings / CM settings (it should be there), it'll give you an option to have virtual home, menu and back keys on status bar
I had no problems under WM. I'm running the ThphooN_v3.3.8MAGLDR upgrading from the 3.3 version. I already had that problem in the 3.3 version.
That tablet tweak as mention is not available but would be a great workaround.
thanks
u can use button savior (from market) to replace the hardware keys ...it might be helpful
I've installed Button Savior - great it gives me the work around.
Not sure if I should install a different built seems to be a single device problem if nobody else reported this.
My HD2 is an O2 version.
thanks anyway I can survive

Did you ever work out how to get the menu/windows button working in the Thphoon build? I'm having the same issue, windows button working correctly in WM6.5 but not in Android 2.3.7

Have you tried button saviour as suggested? I never had these issues when I was using Typhoon though.
