I purchased a XDA Atom Exec in Thailand and now live in the UK. Am I able to use the phone in the UK with a UK sim? I am considering moving to Canada, will I have problems using my XDA there?
How do I set the data connection in the auto configuator to UK or Canada, it seems only Asian countries are listed.
It would be disappointing if I cannot use my XDA in Europe or in North America.
Thanks for any help
you can use atom anythere
I want to buy this phone at Vodafone NL, but I'm interested if it is locked to Vodafone network?

can you unlock bootloader/ root?
i would imagine it could be done cause the phone WAS locked to rogers but now its unlocked and with generic world firmware
root works no problem i used gingerbreak 1.2
Can you elaborate more on this please. This is pretty cool.
I just googled debranding xperia play and the davinciteam website popped up I looked into it and spent the 14 bucks (big whoop!) they emailed me their flashing tool with a username and password you get a list of firmwares to pick from then hit the go button 10 minutes later it was done just like that

Yep there is no rogers crap at all and no rogers boot screen, gingerbreak works to root it but I haven't bothered trying to bootloader unlock it don't see the point yet

So what firmware choices were available for the R800a? When you say you debranded to world generic firmware do you mean the R800i firmware? Does this cause any incompatibilities (like not being able to use 3G since rogers is 850 vs int'l being 900/2100)
Thanks

check out www.davinciteam.com, but these were the choices for the r800a:
R800a 3.0.A.2.184 0001,0002,0003,0004 CUSTOMIZED US/BLACK WORLD-1-2-5
R800a 3.0.A.2.184 0001,0002,0003,0004 CUSTOMIZED US/WHITE WORLD-1-2-5
R800a 3.0.A.2.184 0001,0002,0003,0004 TELCEL GSM MX/BLACK WORLD-1-2-5
R800a 3.0.A.2.184 0001,0002,0003,0004 TELCEL GSM MX/WHITE WORLD-1-2-5
the "customized" is the world generic firmware and there are no compatibility issues 3G works perfectly, for the r800i there is like 86 choices check it out

GOOD NEWS FOR PEOPLE WITH LOCKED BOOTLOADERS! I noticed that in the program you can use custom rom!
EDIT: once I got back on my rogers FW signal back to normal
I'm interested in buy this mobile phone in the USA, but I'm from Spain, and I need to use with Vodafone ES, It's possible to unlock and work's in Spain?
Because I read that use CDMA.
Very confused. The phone will work but isn't your phone the European version? Two different software's. Wish I had more info for you. I'm sure others will chime in.

Check the CDMA frequencies on your Spain Carrier and you'll need an Android Phone from Spain to port it if you want data. Otherwise, if they offer flashing, you could be stuck with only calls and texting working without data.

I'm off to the world cup next week. I've just put Golden Eye 33.3 Rom (4.4.2) on my S4 and was wondering which modem is suited for the Brazilian networks. I will probably be getting a VIVO sim card when I'm there.
Regards
My I9505 is originally from Brazil and I also using VIVO, my modem is VJUGNE2.

Thanks Rodrigo, how old is your i9505? I presume VIVO is the best SIM to get (for data) if travelling to Salvador, Sao Paulo,Belo Horizonte, Rio and Brasilia?
Only 3 months but i use VIVO since 3 years ago,i believe it's the best carrier for São Paulo and Rio but Brasil is a pretty big country so i don't know its the same on the other regions, specially on Salvador but overall its a good carrier.

Yes, your country is very big! I will spend only a few days in Bahia so it is more important to be good in the south. Do you know how much for a VIVO sim card and how much data you get with it?
That's odd but I didn't find any pre paid Sim card from vivo, only Oi and Claro carriers have Sim cards and plans for tourists.

Hmm, interesting. I did find a blog from a guy who had just come from Rio and he was saying that he had tried Oi and Claro and the pro and cons of each. He did not mention VIVO but said that he would try it the next time he was there. I'll keep looking but thanks for the links.
