miui no phone app or contacts app - Droid Incredible General

I have a dinc with imui rom and if i dont clear the data befor install, it starts fine but I dont have a phone app or conact app. The reason I dont want to clear data before install is I want to keep apps and also keep my progress in games I play (mainly angry birds) Aren't the phone and contacts apps system apps? So why does it matter if clear data? How can I fix this so I can use this rom I really like it and want to use it, but its worthless without a phone. help! thank in advance!

[Q] How to stop all downloads on Gingerbread?

Hi, I'm using android Gingerbread (SD) and was downloading some apps from the market when my phone ran out of battery. Now when I reboot there is a constant notification in the notification bar which says that my download is in progress, but the progress bar doesn't move, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Even tried rebooting, but it doesn't change
Go to Market and uninstall those apps and then install it again. If the apps already installed but the Market is still saying it's in downloading progress, then download Easy Uninstaller to uninstall it and then install the apps from the Market.
I went to the market and it shows the apps on 'My Apps' as Free (as opposed to installed, like the rest of the apps). Oddly though, I only tried to download 3 apps, but in the notification bar it shows the apps I was trying to download 'and 8 more' ?!
Anything that you downloaded from the Market will listed under My apps. Sometime the ROM that you installed have preloaded apps and the Market regconized that under My apps as well. Follow the steps on the above post if the Market got confused on the downloading/stuck/updating apps.
Try going into Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Market and clear data and cache. Then it should stop constantly always downliading those apps.

I don't quite understand what you mean, but I've left wifi on for a while and it now has reduced the number from 8 to 6 apps to download. I have not got any notifications that they were installed but hopefully it will just clear all the downloads. Only problem is that if the screen turns off it stops downloading, so I have to leave the screen on.
Its in your phones settings under applications. That happens sometimes when ur phone dies with apps being downloaded. Just click on the things i said in the order i listed them and the downliading aops should go away instantly

How to stop background services?

I am new to Android, still got my iphone 3GS as a backup. One reason for switching was to be able to watch flash video, the problem I have is because apps and services never seem to close, no matter what I try, video too slow to play with everything else running.
Is it possible to stop services on the Galaxy Note so they don't restart automatically, unless I want them to? I have tried several killer apps, but does not really do it. Why is not possible to only run one app and service at a time or why I want?
Help!!!

There are some apps and services which restart upon closing manually. The only way to have them remain closed is by freezing them or uninstalling them. You have to first root your phone and then install Titanium Backup. In there you will have to either uninstall the apps/services or freeze them. It also works on stock apps which came pre-installed on the phone. Just be careful not to uninstall any apps which are part of the O/S.
you need to root your phone, and rum a root level app manager.
This method worked on my Galaxy Note:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830969
once you rooted, install titanium backup. To back up all you apps. If you are willing to pay, this app will let you freeze apps not to run in the background as well.
Or install gemini apps manager, it allows you to change the autostart, block, and uninstall any apps you want.
Just becareful not to block or uninstall importNt system apps. They are addictive because you feel powerful and in control.

Need help with App Drawer Crashing

Hello everyone. Im looking for some help for my cousin.
My cousin got a Iconia A501 (AT&T Model) for Christmas. Whenever he opens up the app drawer it force closes and he is kicked to the homescreen. An error message comes up stating that the Market App has stopped responding when this happens. He cleared the Market cache but it made no difference.
Can anyone think why this might happen and how to correct it?
Try doing a factory reset on the device which will reset it back to factory.
That was going to be the next thing I have him do, I just didnt want him to lose all apps and settings he already added/changed. But it looks like it might be the only option.
He's new to android and its not really a good start for him. Hope it doesnt happen again.

Deleting the market app cach doesn't effect anything. Deleting the user cach, should only make him do the login process again. The apps will stay on the system.
Sometimes, the market app need to be replaced. And the only true way to do that, is to root the tablet.
You may want to install a "launcher app" from the market. You can get it via the tablet, or by pc (market.android.com) This may bypass the apps error.
I think launcher ex is free.

you can use the following to backup the whole device:
http://www.pocketables.com/2012/09/how-to-use-adb-backup-to-back-up-your-unrooted-phone.html
I dont know how to backup just the angry Birds Saves.
Use titanium backup and just select angry birds or whatever app and data you want.

Except he doesn't have root.....
The adb backup system works, but only as an all or nothing option.
However, I've used an app called angrybirdssync that seems to work ok with all the Angry Birds versions, and doesn't need root:
Play store Link
There is also one called Datasync that works without root for some apps and I've been experimenting with 'saveshare' that uses Dropbox to sync game files..
It's really time Google sorted this out and got a proper sync system working for app data like whispersync for books - it shouldn't be that difficult to implement and if you have an android tablet and phone its a pain having to choose which device to play a game on to retain the save data.

I know it's 3rd party, but this app works really well (if you are rooted): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quintstoffers.DataSync.beta

[Q] having trouble with my 306sh

I cant get rid of accuweather, the option to disable will not light up, ive force stopped it, cleared data, cleared cache, and nothing it pops right back into running tab. It uses ram, and data (which I can think of a thousand better uses than this crap). Is there an app or apk, or something that will stop this?
I've been on xda forums almost everyday waiting for root just so I can delete this crap and root for other things too. I have the boost 306sh,(I also hate the boost bloatware). This phone is incredible, I find that I can hiccup it though, especially having apps running in the background, going on chrome and having fb messenger constantly on. Since theres no root I want to try and get rid of some of the pre-installed apps. This was sent from the 306sh so I wanted to say everything in one shot.
Nothing you said you want to do can be done without root.
