Has anyone gotten 3g to work with a samsung vibrant on t-mobile network. I tried setting up with the settings which work in 2.1 but this is not working:
T-Mobile US
apn: epc.tmobile.com
mmsc: http : // mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
mmc: 310
mnc: 260
apn type internet+mms
The only one that shows is ATT but I do not have a att sim card so this is not going to work. I have tried turning on and off the airplane mode but this did not work. Anyone get around this issue when upgrading to 2.2 beta?

lemme guess, you're using the Bell Vibrant, right? With the hard menu key?
If that's the case, you won't get 3g on TMO, and you're using an i9000
Bell vibrant? What do you mean by that? I purchased this phone through tmob when it cam out. It does not have a hard home key. They are all touch buttons.

then if you can't get 3g to work, either your phone is defective, or you live in an area that TMO doesn't yet offer 3g coverage. There's no work involved in getting 3g to work on the phone. it's automatic.
That sucks man. Call tmo support and have them check your area. You shouldn't have to set anything up to get a 3g signal.

No, I have 3G normally if i use the 2.1 but when I upgrade to the 2.2 beta rom, I do not have access to 3G. I was hoping someone could help with this. I do see a number of posts saying people had to add this manually but I tried and it did not work. Anyone seen this in the US?

Wondering if these services work with AT&T on a regular sim-unlocked G1:
3g work with AT&T ?
MMS work with AT&T ?
Is Root required?
I do know how to root and sim-unlock, asking for my dad whose wanting to get a G1.
AT&T's 3G is on a different frequency, so no.
MMS should work with the correct settings listed somewhere in the forums. Root is not required to use it on another network.

Edge will work.
You should be able to get 3g on the HTC Dream on AT&T assuming you buy the Canadian version from Rogers. I believe they can be unlocked but I'm not sure. They haven't been rooted yet. We're trying to get that now. There were some donations put together and we sent Haykuro a Rogers phone last week for him to try and root. It should be at his place tomorrow, so hopefully it wont take him too long to root it, then you'd have full control over the phone.
However just simply unlocking it should allow it to work on AT&T's 3g network as both AT&T and Rogers use the same frequencies for their 3g network.
I have the G1 on AT&T everything works besides 3G which isn't a huge deal because T-mobile doesn't have 3G where I am.
I also use an ADP1 on AT&T in Phoenix with no issues besides no 3G. I get about 200kbit/sec down and 120kbit/sec up. Nothing to write home about, but it works.

Hi folks,
I bought a Cingular GoPhone cellphone and i want to use the line on my G1. The problem is that the G1 doesn't register the sim card on att's network. The crappy phone works fine though.
When going to "Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Network operators > Search networks" i am getting att's network listed, so i guess the phone is able to scan for networks. Since my sim card is an att's, the phone should be able to register the sim card to At&t network, but i'm getting "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" error. Same error when trying the "Select Automatically" option.
I've been google'ing but could't find a solution, even though there is a lot of threads going back and forth.
Here is my configuration info:
Phone: T-Mobile G1 ( Dream PVT 32B DREA10000), Unlocked, Rooted.
Sim Card: AT&T (Cingular), 1 week old.
Firmware: CyanogenMod 4.2.8
Build Number: DRC83
Radio: 2.22.18.26I
HBoot: 1.33.2005
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Have you already forgotten that G1 is locked to Tmo?
You need the unlock code for it to be used on other carriers.
Plus G1 will only beable to use 2G on att.
Cyan has a new version out now.
The phone is unlocked. I have been using it with south american carriers without any problems.
I don't need 3g right now. ( gophone line )

Wiped, flashed with ( http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Latest_version#Defanged_DRC83 ), and then flashed newest Cyanogen ( 4.2.11.1 ).
Still no luck.
Getting the same exact error while registering the sim card.
Thanks

i have an unlocked g1 with att and i had no network problems with cyanogens roms.
Try checking the "2G only" box in data settings. It might be tring to sign into AT&T's 3G voice network, which IIRC, is not a supported feature on GoPhone accounts.

Do you know what spectrum or frequencies your phone runs at? Sometimes they don't include the international spectrum's (or american)if the phone is imported. Nokia has a few phones that needed a North American version they usually have the NAM title next to there name to show they support the American spectrums.

I don't know. I bought the phone in the US, though. Guess it should work.

Yeah but he's saying his phone is from South America. I'm sure yours wasn't
The phone is from the US. I bought it on ebay, shipped and used in south america.
I just came up with something that actually match all the sympthoms.
Maybe this is happening because the phone IMEI be banned from att's network.
Is there any way i can find out if the phone is reported as stolen or something like that ?
So i noticed since installing custom rom, that my 3g data no longer works, the signal is fine, i can make/receive calls but as for data, market/internet anything requiring a connection it just does not work unless connected to a wifi network, and before you ask! yes i was able to do it before from stock so its not a service provider plan issue lol.
First, is the mobile data on the phone itself turned on? I know from using a few different rom they have the ability to turn off just mobile data.
Other than that, I know verizon has had some problems which only required an ESN swap (changing the phone connected to your account to another phone, then back to your current phone is the process to do this), but I also see from your profile that you are on Telus, so I merely offer these two options in hopes that one may help.
well i haven't checked that actually, lol so i will, but i'm on a telus network if i could make a sig lol id have that info sorry haha. Oh yea it is displayed there haha my bad.
k just checked, am i in the right place (just to make sure) Settings -> wireless and network -> mobile network ->3g Packet Data ON
and if so, still no luck.
How do i do this ESN swap?
Yeah that's the correct information, if you haven't done it already, I would at least try toggling it off then back on and see if that fixes it.
After that, as I said before, I don't know much about the Telus Fascinate but I'm sure that there are a few developers or people experienced with Telus Fascinate lurking around the forums that may be able to help. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
That's Okay, lol the ESN swap is it difficult? maybe its the same for telus as verizon..
for verizon a person could log into their online account and switch to an older phone, then switch back. I personally had to take my phone to Best Buy and they could do the ESN swap for me there.
Again not sure on telus......but you can change the esn by a number up or down and not use another phone. I have completed this process several times when I have lost 3g. You will force repartion of data.

It sounds like your having the same problem iv been having. If your 3G icon is disappearing a dmu reset should fix your problem.the esn swap is a way of resetting your dmu but I find it easier to just call into tech support and tell them to do it. If they refuse make them or hang up and call again. Once you get some one who will do it it takes 2min.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
LOL wait... ESN swap is for CDMA phones. Telus is GSM.
OP, you didn't flash a Verizon Fascinate ROM onto your Telus model, did you? If so, you need to do a full stock Odin including GSM modem.
Hence not on sure on telus. Obviously esn is of no help with gsm. Thanks for the info.

I had a lot of problems with my 3 g going away. There wasn't even a 1x just bars. I was frustrated to the point of getting a different phone. I had verizon put a different phone on my account then out my samsung back on and it fixed it. Hopes this helps.

Im not sure if its posted on these forums but if it isnt for future ref. Heres the default APN for Telus Canada.

I had the infamous 3g issue with an interesting side note...
The esn swap worked perfectly, however, when I used *228 with option 2 (update roaming capabilities) the next day, my 3g started dropping again. Did another esn swap, and its been fine now for 4 days. I did use the *228 option 1 both times and nothing changed... only when I used option 2 the first time did my 3g start dropping again.

I just got my Galaxy S4 yesterday and I am working on optimising it for speed and performance. One of the things that I noticed in the network settings is that I think I APN is set incorrectly.
I have a Nexus 4 and in order to get the best data speed I had to use the AT&T LTE APN or (PTA). I am assuming this should be the same on the Galaxy S4 yet when I go into my APN settings I have the AT&T PHONE APN.
It is my understanding that the Phone APN can only get HSPA+ and not LTE. Since this is an LTE phone shouldn't we use the PTA LTE APN?
I have ATT Phone as APN and I get LTE. Not sure about the other one you mentioned.

Maybe the PHONE APN is capable of receiving LTE but I am curious if the PTA APN would get faster data speeds.
RootzWiki http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31135-att-apns-for-custom-roms/
This post indicates that the PTA APN gets (All the Mbps)
Mine is using the PHONE APN and i have no problems getting LTE. Just did a speed test and i'm getting speeds of 50+Mbps over LTE so it seems to be working fine for me.
PHONE is an APN that AT&T umbrella'd all types of data connectivity under. PHONE will automatically choose to connect to the fastest available network in your area. PTA is what they were putting on phones when LTE phones were first being released, but since then, PHONE is the primary APN one should be using. Using PTA won't hurt anything, and should work fine, but why bother if PHONE is already programmed in there.
At least, that's what they the us at my AT&T Data Support call center I work at :/

Anyone know how to save new APNs? I'm on Omega ROM for the i9505, which has the old Cingular WAP settings in there but no 'ATT Phone' settings so I can use the LTE.
I enter the new APN then go to menu, and then save. However, instead of saving it just goes back to the screen with the one Cingular APN like I never entered or saved anything....

Then 1 night on straight talk CS chat the rep gave me this and now I get HSPA+ and 4G all over the area. What I don’t understand is the APN: wap.tracfone and the MMSC with cingular in it. All of the other APN’s I found at XDA, the net or straight talk never used those two items. Also I am using a hybrid radio flash but have been using various combinations of APN’s and radios since I got the phone and the APN is what made the difference.
I'm in Tmobile classic plan and my data has been slow the past week or so, not sure why. I am gonna try this APN just to see what happens, it is working, but I'll see how fast it is.
