This unknown artist everywhere is BS. The darn artist is listed everywhere in the tags. The artist will show correctly on about 2-3 songs out of an album. Crazy!
Does anyone have any ideas what I can look at or fix?
I tried to unsync, I manually removed the music from my SDCard and removed the wmpinfo.xml file. I can edit tags on the device and still will not show correctly.
I have searched the forums and tried the various options and still coming up blank. I use Windows Media Play to rip my music at 192 kbps mp3. I have tried using WMP to sync and also tried just dragging and dropping.
I put my music on the sdcard in a music folder by artist - album - songs
Does anyone have any ideas what I can look at or fix? Really appreciate it.
Thanks
Looks like PowerAmp maybe the solution.

I'm using the TF3D Audio tab to play music. Works pretty well, but a load of my albums have track ordering screwed: track 1 and track 5/6/7 are reversed. Tried deleting the library and resetting, retagging my songs - no help. Anyone else seeing this? Any ideas how to fix song order?
No-one else has this problem?

Hi Rick,
I also have this problem. It's always track 1 that is swapped with track 5, 6 or 7 as you describe.
I've checked all throught the tags on the WMA files for the albums i've installed and they are perfect. Looking at the other details there seems no reason why the tracks have swapped around in the order.
Anybody got any ideas, cus I'm at a loss to see why?
I don't really want to get into having to create a playlist for every album just so the tracks are in the right order!
Any help much appreciated
cheers, Jimmy
Thanks Jimmy, can't find any solution though, and doesn't seem like many have this issue. Back to Pocket Player I guess!
how are you putting the songs onto your hd? active sync or fiel transfer?
when i used active synce i found a lot of the artists and song titles missing in touch flo. when i file transfered stuff manually into the music folder everything came up as it should
Had this too with 2 of my albums, then it hit me: they were the only two albums with wma files, so I converted to mp3 and now it's all ok.
I have this problem with tracks from iTunes (m4a). For me it's usually track one and seven that are swapped around, but sometimes things are even more muddled. I can't actually work out how the order is derived. It's not by file size, file name or date created. Really weird.
As mentioned above, if you load MP3 files then files are listed in track order. This has been driving me bonkers. I wonder if newer versions of the TouchFlo Audio manager still have this problem. Anyone able to confirm? (I'm making the assumption that it is the HTC audiomanager that is playing the music files behind the scenes, but I don't even know if this is the case. Must put Task Manager on my phone and see what's running!) .
Me too...
Same issue here... any bright spark out there capable of working out a fix (prefer not to use MP3 due to file size issues...)
Ok so i've searched the forum and ive found a few related threads...i followed one's advice to use mp3Tag and use artwork 300x300 or lower and still no success. I cannot get any artwork what so ever to show in the media panel. any ideas? Please help. ty
I had issues with this as well, I found that to get the art to show in media panel I had to sync the music to my card with WMP rather than just dropping it on there manually.
I transfer my music by activesync...syncing wmp :S
I don't know then, what I do exactly is put the music I want on the phone or card into "now playing" of wmp, then select sync now playing to storage card. see if that works, if not then I'm out of ideas.
There's a great app on here somewhere that you stick inside your music folder and it'll get album covers for you.
I don't know if it makes them appear inside MXP as I don't use it for music, but the app works!

Hey felas
To start with, I'm a fresh virgin in WM and just bought the Leo, flashed the ROM with 1.48.405.2 WWE and it's all a dream except ..
I go to the music player tab, play a song and in 5 to 20 seconds the song just stops playing. It doesnt pause it, just halts and when i hit the "play" button twice it plays from the start. Unusable..
I am using an 8GB SD, tried formatting it twice ( through win7 and WM ), tried uploading the songs via Media Player and by just copying them into the folder. Its all the same. Soft reseted the thing a gazzilion times and it still doesnt like me.
I searched trough the forum but didnt stumble upon anyone with a similar issue.
I give up. help?
Thanks in advance
That's frustrating. What's the format of your music files? And what's the bitrate? How do you have organized your music files. In seperate folders or in one large folder?
Just curious.
BTW, does this problem occurs constantly. I mean, if you leave your phone alone for a couple of hours and try to play the same music file then, does the same problem occur again, or is it just after an update of your music library.
appelflap this problem has been noticed by others. You might want to check out this thread which documents several solutions.
Slow Music player
try to erase the Music maps inthe sd card and create a new one,put music inthis first, more less like 200 tracks and start again the player,if this work put more music
Thank you for the assistance guys The problem were the mp3's I guess.. or the dumb HTC developer that coded the Media Player. Anyhow, I reckon i might like this forum after all.
Happy holidays
The solution ?
Hi. I experienced the same problem with my music player. I noticed that EVERYTIME I connect my LEO with a computer, whether or not I add new music files, the music player would just "stuck", find no music files, display the message "No music found" when I turn it to landscape.
Found the answer on another forum. Actually, "our" music player is unable to read some MP3 ID3 TAG... It seems to be only reliable with ID3 version 2.4 UTF-8 type tags. So what you should do is "simply" convert all mp3 files on your storage card to the appropriate ID3 format. It's not very long since you don't have to recompress the audio files! You can use mp3Tag to apply change to all your mp3s at once. More info in this threat => http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42474
One definitive solution would be to convert ID3 tags of all your music collection! It would take quite some time... unless somebody find the way to fix this with a magic cab?
This just adds to the very long list of issues of this "wonderful" piece of technology. Thanks who?
I just got my HD2 a week ago and love it. One problem i have is all the music i put on my Sd card won't play down the list in the music player it will just play the song i selected, what am I doing wrong?

what is the folder structure under which you put the music. It should look something like this:
\Storage Card\Music\Offspring - Americana
\Storage Card\Music\Offspring - The Offspring
\Storage Card\Music\Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon
A folder for each album under a general "Music" folder...
MUSIC
I just made a folder in my Storage Card and called it "Music" obviously without the quotes and used a Micro sd Adapter and put the card reader thingy into my laptop like a usb and transfered over my music. I have a bout 5GB of music and when i when to the music tab it said searching and found all my songs.!?
I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, (please be more specific if this isn't what you're talking about).
When you select a song to play, how are you selecting it?
If you go to Artists or Albums, it will only play the songs under the respective artist or album.
If you go to Library>All Songs and then press on a song, it should then play all songs. Is this what you're doing? What happens when you do this?
Do any of your music players freeze?
I have had it freezing once I loaded about 4gb of music onto it.
Storage Card\Music\*.*
I know just what he means. In the music tab you get the album view which is pretty useless/cumbersome, so, instead of playing music from there, he's going into "Library" and then possibly Artists>Album>SongName. Problem is, when you do that, HTC's music player creates a new (temporary) playlist with only that one song, so, if you want to skip to another song, you have to go back to Artists>Album>etc...
With HTC's player, you HAVE to create playlists to get the most out of it (or just stick with the default "All Songs" playlist (painful if you have over 1,000 songs because, again, of the lame UI for the music player)) and just switch playlists as you go.
Is there any way to get the HTC media player sort the albums in landscape mode to Artist then album like how its sorted in an ipod touch or iphone?

When i uploaded 6 gb of music all in different folders, the player showed it to me all in one giant list, is this going to fix the problem, or do i have to do something else?

The player can show it to you listed by album, artist, genre, or composer...just use the slider when in "library" view. However, this is dependent on the ID3 tags on your music files being filled in correctly...
Is there a way to create ID3 tags for all my music based on folders?
I don't care about the albums as long as i can have folders and not a one giant list of mp3's

Can anyone help?
ok so i rly like the htc music widget and app all around. my question is this
i moved my top rated music from itunes to my sd card. in itunes i make it a must to have all my music well organized from artist album and album art.
once i copied my music to the sd card from itunes some tracks have the the info and album art but the majority of the songs are under unknown artist and dont have the right names to the songs. ive checked in itune and they are well organized in there. all my music is aac as well
any advice?
Basically, iTunes sucks.
Works fine for me, try converting the tags, then delete them from the card and add them again.
Use TuneSync.

what convertion method have you used? ive tried a few and receive the same results
I'm right clicking and converting to 2.4. All my info is showing up right away.
I've found that sometimes if you use a sync program, it won't change the tags when you sync. You have to delete the file from the device and resync
Before, I also thought my mp3s were perfectly organized with iTunes. I was horribly mistaken. I used Media Monkey to check all tags, as it seems more thorough than iTunes and covers several versions of ID3 tagging.
Then, I realized that you cannot simply put a large number of mp3s in 1 folder, e.g. \sdcard\Music\, or else for some reason the music player cannot generate the thumbnails for all album art (found in \sdcard\albumthumbs\), and you will end up with blank album art for many of your songs. So if you already have your music organized by artist, album, etc., you're all set. But I liked being able to drag and drop my music from my iTunes playlist instead of searching my music directory for songs one by one. So I used the drag and drop method to copy all my mp3s to \sdcard\Music\ (could be any folder you want, really). Then I used Media Monkey to browse to \sdcard\Music\, then I selected all files and used the organize feature to create directories by artist, album, etc. Finally, all of my album art showed up correctly.
