wii mote - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

just wanted to know if there was a hero rom that had the wii mote app working

Good one...

most phiremod roms and roms using michypri's kernel have good bluetooth data exchange and the wii mote works with said kernel. yay.

Wiimote working on any roms?

So I've been thinking about finally taking the plunge and installing one of these custom roms on my phone, instead of just having a rooted 2.1... but before I do, can anyone with a rom installed tell me if they have any success with the Wiimote apps? I would love to play some classic NES games on my phone, but the on-screen buttons on every emulator are pretty terrible. Thanks in advance for anyone who's willing to test this for me
This belongs in Q&A just FYI. And any non-sense ROM will work with the wiimote. Just look for non-sense roms. I suggest the froyo ones.
Ah, sorry for posting in the wrong location
Anyways, thanks for the quick response. Though have you tested it yourself to know that it works? From what I've read about the wiimote apps, I was thinking that when they mentioned 'sense phones' they were kind-of implying all HTC phones, and thought that it would have been a hardware limitation.
not sure how i found myself over in this forum... but i thought id share my experience with this app...
i have a hero on sprint with the newest cyanogenmod froyo running on it and the wiimote controller app works great. it also worked well with previous 2.1 aosp roms that I ran. The reason they tell you it wont work on HTC is because they dont want to explain to every average HTC user how to root and run a custom rom just to use their app. ;D

noob question about tether

Iv searched and searched but can't find anything specifically answering my question in layman terms.....ok here goes, before I had my phone rooted I paid 30 for one month for the sprint hotspot on my epic and used it on my ps3 to play call of duty and it worked perfect. Then a co worker told me about the rooting and free tethering so I had it done and the phone works fine, its a little faster and all that jazz but the tether feature only works on certain devices (ipod touch and 1 of my laptops) but will not work on my ps3 at all. My question is why and how can I fix it.....
I can't say I've tried this, but here's a thread with some knowledgeable input that might help you along:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834373
Ok I'm lost. It has 2 downloads for epic and neither zip from doing the 3finger start up and zip from sd
It is because it is an adhoc signal. Some devices won't connect or even see an adhoc signal I believe the ps3 is a device that won't cnnect to an adhoc signal. You might have to contact sony on the specs though.

i understand the logic behind that but why does sprints stock "hotspot" work fine on ps3 but all "aftermarket" tethers do not
I've never used the sprint hotspot, but it probably transmits in infrastructure mode (like a wireless router), and not ad hoc mode (like wirelssly conncting two computers together without a router). The truth is, no ones been able to get infrastructure mode working on di18 (which is android 2.1, and you are probably running it if you didn't go to dk28, which is android 2.2).
Now, you could try going to dk28, but it can be buggy, and I don't think the wireless tether in infrastucture mode works perfectly either. So in otherwords, it might get complicated for you.
I have an xbox360, which also doesn't connect to ad hoc networks. So instead, I use a wired tether program, pdaNet (the free version). My setup is epic wired tethered to my laptop, then an ethernet cable to connect my laptop to my xbox. If you have a laptop that you can use for this setup, I highly recommend it. There's also probably less lag than with wireless tether since wireless has more latency than a usb cable.

If your Epic is running Eclair 2.1 and you're already rooted, then you're in business.
You need to flash the modified hotspot app that was ripped from the Vibrant (and modified for each of the Galaxy S series), and you're golden. After doing this, use the Sprint Hotspot app like usual with no need to pay the $30 fee, plus it's working in infrastructure mode (everything wifi friendly), not ad-hoc (some wifi friendly).

I had this issue with my daughter's DSI. I finally did a manual set-up instead of letting the DSI do it automatically and it connected and works great.

Had a similar issue trying to tether to my nook, luckily there are some pretty smart people over in that forum too and they figured out a way to swap over the nook to see ad hoc networks, makes me wonder if you trolled some ps3 forums and saw if some other people have found a solution to their systems not being ad hoc friendly, because if you ever decide to go to 2.2 that hacked hot spot option wont work
ok so i downloaded the signed-final-mobileap and flashed it and my "sprint hotpot" isnt there anymore and my wireless tether still doesnt work on the ps3.....i running 2.2.1 kernal version 2.6.32.9 build number sph-d700 viperrom frozen ext 4 rfs dk28 dual 4.0.3

If your going to go back to stock anyway (2.1, not 2.2), just root/cwm and flash the existing MobileAP for 2.1, as that will work without having to pay the extra $30/month. The trouble you were having is that the way the hotspot feature works got changed in 2.2, so the zip for 2.1 that you flashed wont work correctly.
If indeed you are going back to 2.1, this will only work on an odexed rom, in other words, a stock rom (custom kernel is fine) or possibly a custom rom after running the odexer tool in the dev section before you install/use MobileAP.

PS3 controllers are not standard HID devices, they cannot be used with anything other than a PS3 without special drivers.
Pershoot's kernels include these special drivers as part of the "lib" archive. Unfortunately module autoloading is not yet available for these drivers so you have to manually load hid-sony.ko
It works

The PS3 controller works perfect on the XOOM without any special drivers or anything. Just need to plug it in. Can't seem to get it to work on my 10.1 though and can't get my 360 controller to work as well. It's pretty crappy, I may have to go buy a wiimote to get a controller for my 10.1 instead.

I'm having this same problem. All other USB devices I plug in work fine (mouse, keyboard, usb drive, usb hub, etc), but none of my 360 controllers work. I get the same "Unknown USB Device" error, I also noticed that the lights on the controller keep turning on and off, like it starts to get power for a split second and then off.
This is the main reason that I bought the adapter.

I want it for emulators (N64oid, SNesoid, etc.) SNesoid doesn't need 2 sticks but N64oid could. Also, I don't have any other controllers.

Ah, I didn't even think about the emulators. Makes perfect sense, then.
Xbox360 pads need xpad.ko, also available with pershoot kernels.

So unless I root and swap kernels, there's no way I can get it working?
Nope. xpad.ko and hid-sony.ko are not compiled into the stock kernels.
I don't have any links other than Pershoot's kernel at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138167, I'm a bit of a Linux guru so I was able to figure it out myself.
Install the kernel.
Download and extract the "lib" archive to /data/local/modules/ as described on Pershoot's blog (which I can't access at the moment)
Run "insmod /data/local/modules/hid-sony.ko" in a shell, either via Android Terminal Emulator or an ADB shell.
One of these days I'm going to see if there's a way to get module autoloading to work, or maybe see if hid-sony and xpad can be just compiled right in.

Working ! Ps3 Controller & KFHD

Ok so heres the good news. After hours of trying to figure this out, I can confirm that the sixaxis ps3 controller does work
with the kindle fire hd.
So here's what you'll need..
Must have root...Theres no other way.
Apps... Sixaxis Compatibility Checker - This will let you know if your device is compatible. - Free in the play store.
Sixaxis Controller $1.99 in the playstore. - But remember google is your friend.
You will also need one program for your computer
Sixaxis pair tool. - This Is used to change the master numbers on your ps3 controller.
So Far Games That i know work are all emulators and roms and the following big hits.
Gta 3
Shadowgun
Modern Combat 3
If you have any questions feel free to ask...
how did you configure it for modern combat 3???
can you show steps

I can confirm this does work, if you are using KFHD 7" theres no need for the compatibility tool, it does work. However I've noticed that it only works with games configured to work with a gamepad. Touch emulation does not work it seems so games like MC4 don't work.

Katalystik,
My opinion only.
I believe that all controllers should be tested using the Compatibility Checker due to known issues around certain
applications and controllers. Sixaxis designed the compatibility checker for a good reason - it solves many headaches
since it intelligently displays what applications are going to conflict with the controller being tested. Touch Emulation
is a known issue, our Team is working with Sixaxis to solve the problem. If you would like to monitor or join the
thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077341 - we will post the solution to the XDA
Community once we have an answer.:good:

Doesn't seem to work for me. I've paired it using the MotionInJoy pair tool and every time I start up the Sixaxis Controller on the N7, it hangs at "Listening for controllers..."
I tried to pair it with the PC, so I connected my N7 to the PC and the Sixaxis controller to the PC as well. I installed the Sixaxis Pair Tool from the dev's website, and it just hangs at "searching..." regardless of whether MotionInJoy can see the very same controller or not.
I've used this tool before on my Motorola Atrix flawlessly, but the damn thing's fighting me on the N7.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's because I'm running Paranoid Android Beta 2.99. Or even worse, because I have a 32GB Nexus 7. I certainly hope not, because I just got done unlocking, and I spent so much time pimping it ooooooout.

I also have PA Beta 2.99 and I don't have this problem. It used to happen to me, the "searching..." problem. It solved when I change the connector of the Sixaxis and the PC. Maybe the one you're using is broken.
I don't think you have this problem because of having the 32Gb version of N7. Good Luck!
The latest versions don't need the PC anymore. Just use the sixaxis app and wire the PS3 pad to your Nexus 7 with a OTG cable + mini usb cable for the PS3 pad, then pair it directly from the app. This worked for me, since the PC method did not work no matter what I did, and has been working well with 4.2.1.
