Desire HD unlock - Desire HD General

Following receipt of my new Desire HD (T-mobile UK) I decided to unlock it.
After some (too little!) research I went to edited... who promised on the first page of their website to;
I registered on their website, bought my credits (...., downloaded the software, entered the details given, received a password and login, entered this and then got an error message. (Convoluted process)
After a little while on email and live chat I was asked to send all my details by email, which I did, and was then told that mine is a 'new' phone and was referred to .... which advised me it would cost an additional...to unlock this 'new' phone.
Feeling somewhat aggrieved at this approach I promptly asked for a refund and after several hours received one. To be fair their communication was reasonably speedy and they have refunded my money.
I don't know whether this is a cynical scam or just a failure to provide customers with all the required information but either way I wont be using them again.
I now carried out some more research and decided to try .... who although they advertise a 'Best Price .... when you enter your phone details for a quote clearly show that for the HD it is .....
This is slightly more than ..... initial offer but much less than the final......and having entered my details on their website and bought the credits, I received my code within 5 minutes which worked faultlessly.
There is clearly a small issue (mainly cost) with unlocking recent HTC phones so please beware.
PS I think the HD is awesome.

If you're still with T-Mobile or had an account with them, I'm sure you could get them to provide the Unlock Code.
I bought a used Shadow from eBay & the seller was kind enough to help me unlock the phone by calling T-Mobile & explaining to them that the phone needs to be used overseas with other GSM network for travelling purposes.
I got my Unlock Code for free in under three days.
Hope this helps.
Ya.. I got ripped off also, luckily it was only $7.00. Wireless unlocks.. beware..
I upgraded two lines with new shadows, one for my wire and one for my daughter. The wife found hers too complicated , so I called Tmo customer service and told them the truth. I asked them if they could unlock it for me, as my wife wanted to use her old phone... Two days later they sent me the unlock code.. now using my shadow flawlessly with the at&t network..
Instanunlockcodes.com is in ICELAND
The same thing just happened to me. Instantunlockcodes.com is a rip off.
I filled in the form and paid my money and about an hour or two later I got a message that they could not find an unlock code to work on my I335 Motorola.
About ten minutes later, my credit card company called and told me a fraudulent charge had been put against my card. I explained what I did and my credit card company told me that they are already on a fraud watch list.
They are also in Iceland. It was 2:30AM in Iceland when they charged my card so it is automated to just give you a runaround.
The only problem is, if they have my IMIE number, can they steal my phone number and charge against my phone account?
I bet there are Icelanders that are saying “STUPID AMERICANS” right now.
I sure do feel stupid.

Experience with Htc While trying to get a replacement for my Nexus!

So i noticed i had dust under the screen just like many others have experienced as well. So after deciding wether i was willing to lose my engraving for it, i gave HTC a call! I spent a total of 25 minutes on the phone, out of those 25 minutes the Rep kept putting me on hold! i was okay with it as i was doing something. She was somehow nice, i told her i wanted the phone replaced and she said she would put a hold of $28 onto my credit card.
I asked her several times if it would only be for $28 and not the full price of the phone and she said Yes! So then i went ahead and gave her the number and told her that it was not under my name, she said that was not a problem but never asked me what name it was under so i guessed they knew it was my sister who is related to me or not?? well, immediately after we hunged up i received an email that follows:
Dear Wilson
We received your request and will send you more information regarding delivery and tracking soon. Until then we want to provide you with the following information as reference, as well as some instructions for sending items to us:
HTC Ticket #: 0000000000000
Google Order #: 00000000000000000
S/N: 00000000000000
Please visit the Google Help Center for more detailed information.
Instructions:
1. If you are sending your phone remember to remove any SIM cards and storage cards that you are using with it. Remove the battery, the battery cover, and any other accessories. You will be keeping these items.

Now im just wondering, from the email it sounds as if they are sending me a new phone to me first from which i then send mine back. but why is it HTC only pre-authorised $28 from the card and not the full price of the phone like it did with others. I just want to make sure that the rep did everything right and its not me who has to send my phone first as i will be needing a phone due to some job interviews!!!
There are already two threads discussing the dust issue and the process of getting a replacement with HTC.

Unlock my streak, what are the alternatives?

Hi guys,
New to the forum having just spent a few pound coins on a streak, its locked to o2 at the minute but i want to use it on orange, i have searched online and found numerous places that will unlock it for £20+, just wondered has anyone got a tried and tested method from anywhere with a link if possible?
Looking forward to testing this out as to be honest never knew they existed until i was looking for a cheaper alternative to the SGN which is too expensive for me at the moment, i have seen all the custom rom stuff but not sure i am confident enough to do something like that, but all advice is welcome.
So anyway hello to all
Regards
Steve
Hi there,
Like yourself, my Streak is locked to o2. People around here said they have got their Streak's unlocked for free by emailing certain companies, even Dell themselves. This has not worked for me, even trying to sugar talk O2 hasn't worked!
R.e custom roms, it took me a while to try and comprehend things and sometimes, despite all the amazing work that people do on here, its not the most inexperienced friendly place. But eventually I got there, plucked up the courage to fiddle around and I haven't looked back since.
When things like "getting used to using fastboot" are said, it really is that. the more you try things the easier they get.

I'm totally scared of "bricking" my phone, i have asked o2 and they are sending me a sim card that i have to put £15 credit on and the make a call or send a text so it registers with them, then go on there website and fill out the unlock form, apparently it can take up to 7 days but then its officially unlocked.........so they reckon!!!!
Well to unlock you need a code, so not sure how a new sim would unlock it. Am I missing something?
That's because they need the phone to register on their network at least once, because as per their policy they only unlock phones that are active on their network. However, a lot of us did get our phones unlocked without being on their network! Heck, I'm not even in the UK! I sent multiple emails to [email protected] and after nearly two months of emails back and forth, I got lucky and got a guy who finally gave me the unlock code. I remember a lot of us getting the codes around the same time. I would assume it would be easier for them to give you the codes now, but there's only one way to find out, I guess! Email them the IMEI number. If they refuse to unlock it, wait a couple of days and send an email again!

O2 seem to have this fixation about not unlocking phones, well as i said to the customer services bloke i can understand a brand new phone not being unlocked, but why a phone thats not exactly brand new? Anyway as i had been through the whole online chat with an o2 guru who told me order a sim top it up to the tune of £15 and then fill out the unlock form, hey presto unlock code in 7 days, then i had an email to say they wouldn't unlock the phone as it wasn't registered on the network.....jeus i said i topped up £20 notes made a few calls sent a few texts and it still wasn't registered? Well then the customer service bloke had the cheek to tell me that i spoke to the o2 guru after i had topped up so it was my fault that i had basically spent £20 on a top up for no reason.....but ahhhh i had the chat transcript sent to me via email so i had proof this guy told me the procedure before i bought the top up, so then it all changed ohh well ok let me speak to me line manager he said, so 5 minutes later he comes back and says as a gesture of goodwill they will send me the unlock code like they are doing me a favour but still charging for lol, anyway suffice to say, i am waiting for the unlock code which they say will be here within 7 days, so guys if you want your streak unlocked from o2 persist with the harassment, just make sure you get the transcripts sent to your email as o2 are obviously a little economical with the truth!!!
i got a streak that had a cracked screen from a fellow member here...
after replacing the screen, and inserting my sim, i realize it's locked...
he said it's at&t...
i tried contacting a couple of people on ebay with the imei, and service tag too, but they returned my payment stating code not found...
the imei is clear, no issues.. is there another way to verify what network is it locked to?
i'm in india, so no way to check/verify t-mobile, at&t blah blah...
also, would spending 29$ be my only way of unlocking it?
thanks
:good:
i contacted [email protected] and this was the reply ii got...

Your buying expierence

Hi Guys,
How have you found the buying expierence to be?
I ordered mine the start of this month and just missed out on the discount. When I ordered I got an email saying it would be a couple of weeks and that was okay, but I have seen that it is back in stock and I still haven't been sent the device according to the website(I am currently on holiday). I go into orders when logged into small and don't see anything, but I can click on the link in the email and it shows my order with the status.
I have tried emailing them and have not had a reply, tried calling them, and when it does ring it just gets cut off.
How has your expierence been, as I may forget all about this phone if it does t get better(plus I now ha e a £40 off voucher for the phone).
Jim
Hi Jim,
Have you checked the tracking service to see if they've given the parcel to the post office? I ordered my phone at 10pm and received it two days later at about 12:30 pm.
I've had the Honor 7 for a couple of days now. The phone runs very smoothly (I even opened up every application on my phone and it had about 1.4gb RAM free and was still working smoothly. I don't have the most intensive apps installed but I wouldn't be doing anything near as taxing as what I did). The finger print sensor is very accurate and quick. It'll take some time to get properly used to all of its features, such as sliding your finger down for notifications and up for recent apps. You can also hold your finger on the sensor to go back to the home screen and tap it once to make it act as a back button. The camera is quite good too but I don't really take pictures so I can't give a proper review of it. Emotion UI is alright and if you're not too fond of it you can just install Nova Launcher like I did. As for the battery I usually get 5-6 hours of screen on time with me using my phone mainly for facebook, whatsapp, skype and watching YouTube videos. I can't give any comments on gaming performance since I don't game on my phone , I imagine it would run most games fine though. I just ran an AnTuTu Benchmark while typing this up and got a score of 52247 if that's of relevance to you. When did you try calling them? They're busy on weekends and when I tried on a weekday the call went through straight away and they were quite helpful. The phone was a steal at £250 and at £210 it's an even better deal so I'd definitely advise buying it.
My experience has been pretty bad.
Ordered on launch day as soon as it went live on website. So expected to receive the phone. Then the website said 7 days. Then 5 days. Then 9 days. And finally 3 weeks. All along people were receiving their phones who ordered 2/3 days after I did as well. In the end I cancelled the order.
Today I used the discount code emailed to me by vmall and tried again. Phone was in stock, order processed and a confirmation page was displayed with order number on it. However, no email confirmation has been received and it does not appear in my 'recent orders' on the vmall site either. And of course the phone is now showing as out of stock too.
I called vmall support and was told that basically I have no order. Which is annoying to say the least.
I ordered at 11am today, didn't get an email but just checked my order and it has been dispatched, seems like there's problem with your order, best keep trying to get hold of them maybe.
for me, vmall UK worked perfectly. 3 days wait, then the email it was dispatched and arrived next day.
And now, despite being told I had no order by the vmall support line, I have just had an email to say mine has now shipped already. Very confusing stuff.
I have waited only 3 days too.

I have worst experience from vmall UK. first I ordered from 29th August using my credit card which I'm using everyday and it working perfectly fine but after ordering they next day I got mail which said that my card is expired, that's impossible! and got email in which they told me to contact so I did CA on phone line said that card I used was expired and I need to provide the card details to them so they can order again, so I gave them my card detail and person said everything is ok now and your card has been accepted. which was same card I used it earlier, but after 2-3 days I haven't got any news about it so I called them again but I got constant engage tone for two days and so I called again CA told me that our staff are NOT allowed to take customer's phone number over the phone and I need to place the order again, so on 2nd Sept. I order again and till than I sent them three email in a week but I haven't got any replay, furthermore when I called them over the phone last week to know order status they said that stock will come next week and told me to call again mid next seek, Today again when I ask they said that they are going to instruct warehouse to despatch soon and I will hopefully get tracking number by today evening but as of 23:39 I haven't got any tracking number or despatch email, they are liar and unreliable company and just to take orders they are giving wrong hope and incorrect delivery estimate which is
complete unfair business practise
Also even before order I called and ask about NFC and they poor knowledgeable CA lady said indeed it have NFC which is completely false information
Poor inventory and order processing system and very limited information and technical information about products seems like they made in hurry to to gain high numbers of sale in short time
Worst customer service
And unreliable company
EDIT/UPDATE: Today 10AM I called them again to inform that all my friend who ordered last week or before me already got that order and why I have to wait , CA said Sorry for the delay and said that I also ordered Honor View case and selected part delivery but somebody missed to acknowledge that on system means all order they are handling manually, after that phone call my status is now showing as "PART-SHIPPABLE" let's see what happen
My issue with regards to calling the CS number seems to have been a weird combination issue of nexus5/3/Spain roaming, although it worked fine and my.Missus phone samsungs3/3/spain roaming.
I spoke to customer services at the start of the week and they said there was nothing wrong with my order and they were getting 1000 new units and they are shipping on first in first out basis, which I challenged as I advised people ha e ordered after me and already got there phone. I will call again today as I no faith in the CS services, but I also ordered a cover as well, and maybe this is causing an issue as the above comment suggests.
Just spoke to CS and she has said the batch of devices they were getting has been delayed.
I questioned about the numerous times I have clicked the order link provided by themselves and see the device as showing in stock was not true, and they are only uptp the 27th of August with fulfilling orders.
I ordered mine on Monday and it was in my house on Tuesday. Faultless. Was able to track it as well.
Sent from my PLK-L01 using XDA Free mobile app
My buying experience from vmall was one of the worst.
At start everything was fine. I pre-ordered the phone and i waited until they'll have it on the stock. I've waited for like 2 weeks. Then I've got message telling me that my payment was rejected. The strange this was that they already took money from my card when I placed the order. I look on my account - my money is back and there is no information about any transactions - nor accepter or rejected. I told them to charge my card once more and then it was ok.
Status change - Package sent! YAY!! finally!!!
but, wait.. quick glance at my invoice... shipping address - WHAT THE F...? Somehow - noone from vmall was able to told me how - the street name in billing address was changed and it looked like someone placed it in google translate and translated it from polish to english... so the result was that the package was going to the non-existent address. Just great. After contacting via phone with vmall they told me they'll do anything they can blablablablablalba.... i talked to them few times, no effect.
In final, I've got my package, but only because I have contacted DHL by myself and they were so kind to change delivery address to correct one. No help from vmall at all in that matter. And after the package was delivered, email from vmall came and it was like "dude, you were saying that the address over there was wrong, but someone took the package! look ,there's signature!! the address was correct, you moron, but you said it was incorrect!".
Just no comments... i replied them that they were useless etc, I gave them screenshot from DHL tracking saying that the address is wrong and there is need of contact and attached them DHL emails that I had... it was like one week ago, still got no response...
TLDR: Vmall support is USELESS, totally useless and the people over there are stupid and cannot understand simple things. They couldnt tell me how did they got the strange shipping address (translated polish street name via google translate. WTF!? from when you do that and what for!?)...
I've personally found Vmalls support excellent. The stock issue is down to the production side and out of their hands. When I've phoned they've been efficient (split my order so the phone was sent, which was then dispatched an hour later). I phoned earlier today to cancel the flip cover as I'm just fed up of waiting (and realised the flip to turn screen on feature won't be as useful as it was with the H6, what with the H7's double tap/fingerprint methods to access the screen). The woman said "do you want to give it to me?" and I thought I accidentally phoned Babestation, but then realised she was referring to the order number! Cancelled it no problem.

Mobicity stole my Nexus 6 [battery inflated]

I just want to share my sad story with you. I've been on xda for 7-8 years but I didn't want to use my other account. Hope you understand.
Mobicity, The Silence of the Lambs
original article by Mislav Bušić, via mob.hr
Last year, soon after the launch of Nexus 6, I ordered this device from a highly reliable British webshop called mobicity.co.uk.
At the time, they were taking preorders, and due to certain discounts, I managed to buy it at a considerably lower price than in any other store.
I had to wait for almost four months to receive the device I had ordered. To put it mildly,
I was impatient and angry – both at Motorola and at mobicity – mostly because of the lack of information I was getting from them.
However, I had no other choice but to wait patiently.
Finally, I got hold of Nexus and I immediately started a detailed inspection of the device. I ran an out-of-the-ordinary unboxing,
compared it to its main rivals, Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus, and I wrote my review. My dear editor was so pleased with everything that he,
at the very least, wished for his own copy of the device.
In the meantime, we tested various other devices, and I used the Nexus 6 along with my Note 4. At the end of May,
there was a period of three weeks during which I completely stopped using Nexus. Due to circumstances at the time,
I was travelling a lot, so I placed the Nexus back into its original packaging, because Note 4, with its far better camera and battery life,
was simply a better choice when going on a trip.
Since I wasn’t using the Nexus, I decided to pass it along to my editor. Who doesn’t love “the smell of a new smartphone in the morning”?
Since I do backup of all my smartphones almost on a daily basis, I took the box and went straight to the post office.
At the counter, in the post office, I decided to double-check if everything was in place. What followed was utter shock and disbelief.
The battery of Nexus 6 was inflated like a pack of the cheapest crisps. The cover/lid came off and there was no point in sending the device at all.
In the pre-cardiac condition, I called Krešo, my editor, to explain the whole situation. I don’t know who was in a greater state of shock, him or me.
He, because he wasn’t getting his new toy, or I, because I had it and was now left without it.
Since unfortunately, Motorola doesn’t have a representative in Croatia at all, and mobicity offers no European guarantee,
I had no other choice, but to contact more-or-less all domestic service centres in the hope of finding someone who could repair my Nexus.
I decided to log on to mobicity’s webpage to contact their customer service, and I was again confronted with another unpleasant surprise.
My account, which I had used to buy dozens of other devices, had been deleted because it had been a couple of months since my last log-in and/or purchase.
At this point I was furious. I managed to get their customer service email address and I finally managed to explain my problem to them.
What followed was a dozen of emails during the next fortnight in which I tried to explain that the device was kept in a box, in a room, at room temperature,
away from the sunlight, turned off, with no contact to moisture or cosmic dust. In a nutshell, the conditions were more than perfect.
Finally we reached the conclusion that it wasn’t my fault that the battery got inflated.
During the following fortnight we exchanged yet another dozen of emails in which mobicity very politely explained that it would be best if I could find a service centre in Zagreb that would fix my device.
The biggest problem was the non-existence of a telephone contact with the personnel at mobicity so that I could explain the situation more efficiently and quickly.
Unfortunately, their support service is as prompt and effective as the Croatian judiciary system, so you have to wait for a reply sometimes even for a week.
Weeks went by and mobicity kept on insisting on issuing a €50 voucher which would, according to them,
make up for the mental pain and the cost of battery replacement as well as possible broken motherboard or whatever.
No matter how much I insisted on sending my Nexus directly to them to have it serviced, they persistently refused to accept it.
The main excuse was the somewhat strange ban on sending inflated batteries by plane across the European Union.
This sounds logical – the battery might explode and take down the entire plane.
After a few more emails, I came to understand that this ban applies to all types of postal services, not just air mail.
After I had realised that we cannot come to an understanding, I directed mobicity’s customer service to mob.hr, the web portal I work for.
mob.hr actually attracts 200,000 unique visits a month and we cover an area of around 20 million people and, in fact,
we are the highest rated daily blog on mobile telecommunications in ExYu.
Mobicity took this as a threat and almost refused any further cooperation.
Then I politely explained that a threat would mean writing an article in English about their customer treatment and sharing this article on all leading world web portals,
including those in the USA as well as those in the UK, featuring a whole lot of pictures, attached emails and a video in English ready to be uploaded on our YouTube.
Eventually we reached an understanding. They apologized and decided to accept my Nexus 6 and service it if I agree to remove the battery before sending the phone.
That is exactly what happened. I managed to remove the battery (which meant taking the whole device apart), and I sent the device to Great Britain.
I was patiently checking the tracking number and I saw that the package had been delivered on July, 23.
I thought that maybe they would contact me upon receiving the package, and since this didn’t happen, I decided to contact them.
It turns out that if I hadn’t contacted them, my Nexus would remain there for weeks without them knowing about the whole situation.
Didn’t worry about this too much as they assured me that the device would be serviced in a few weeks’ time, so I decided to wait patiently.
Days went by and the only contact I had with the service centre was the “well-organized” customer service. I kept reminding them and sending them emails once or twice a week.
Weeks went by, and so did the first month since they received my device, and mobiycity’s customer service still had absolutely no information about the status of my device – what’s its status,
are they still waiting for parts, did they notice some other misfunctions apart from the missing battery… as if they hadn’t received the device at all.
I kept sending them emails on a weekly basis until they finally responded. Six weeks after they had received my phone,
they replied that the device was being inspected by their technicians – which actually means that they were staring at it wondering where the battery was.
I was furious, but I managed to calm myself down and I contacted the European Consumer Centre (ECC). They informed me that, since the English are involved,
I can do nothing but wait. They were kind enough to offer help and they contacted some of their colleagues in London who might call mobicity and ask them to speed thing up.
In case mobicity turned them down, the story would end here since, legally, there is no time constraint regarding the servicing of the device!
After two weeks I was informed that the battery had been replaced and that the device was being further tested.
In translation, the servicer’s son got hold of it for free for another couple of weeks or even months to play games, and,
in case the battery doesn’t get inflated again after the kid tries all possible games on Android, I will be given my device back.
After 4 (!) months, I received absolutely no news about my Nexus. Dozens of emails, complaints and status requests went by practically unnoticed.
Mobicity sent me generic emails such as “soon”, “we still don’t know”, “we’re waiting for our repair centre to reply” and so on.
At this moment I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to get my device back or if it had been given to someone else as a wonderful Christmas present.
If someone did something like this in Croatia, we would be accused of being backward, uncivilised and incompetent. Since all of this took place in the UK,
the cradle of civilisation, it is perfectly clear that there are plenty of incompetent, uneducated and lazy people outside Croatia. Maybe if I hadn’t been cheap,
and if I had offered that PR person at the other side of the email some £10 bribe, maybe he would have checked where my Nexus was and would have told his colleagues to fix my phone.
At least, that’s how it works in Croatia, where you need bribe even to get your driving licence.
About 3 weeks ago, I threatened mobicity with negative feedback article, and gave them deadline till friday to repair my Nexus. Within 24 hours,
they said my device is repaired and waiting to be shipped. Guess what? They still haven’t manage to ship it!
So, to sum up, having a warranty is a wonderful thing without which you shouldn’t buy a device because you could easily have an accident as I did, no matter how careful you are.
Be careful where you buy your device and what kind of warranty it comes with. Well-known webshops are sometimes considerably cheaper than the local retail,
but they come with certain risks involved which you have to be prepared for. Your device will most likely be taken to be serviced,
but be prepared wait for it for a couple of months or even to lose it altogether. All things considered, we do not recommend buying from the mobicity.
This is the risk you run with all sites like this.
Also Admitting to having more then one account is an easy way to have both accounts banned.
