Hi there, I am trying to solve the Longitude - Latitude issue on Wildpuzzle.
Could anyone who has access to there debug information provide me with the information you get when entering maps with the gps turned off please.
Please state which Wildpuzzle version you are running and the information.
EXAMPLE -
Version : - 8.0.11
Debug : - 10-27 09:43:36.013: DEBUG/NetworkProviderService(568): Get data from Mapbar - onLocationChanged location:Location[mProvider=network,mTime=1288169016013,mLatitude=53.39981,mLongitude=-1.0E-5,mHasAltitude=false,mAltitude=0.0,mHasSpeed=false,mSpeed=0.0,mHasBearing=false,mBearing=0.0,mHasAccuracy=true,mAccuracy=209.0,mExtras=Bundle[{city= }]]
Thank you
there you go:
wildpuzzle 8.0.11
DEBUG/NetworkProviderService(381): Get data from Mapbar - onLocationChanged location:Location[mProvider=network,mTime=1288200216256,mLatitude=44.3822,mLongitude=26.12219,mHasAltitude=false,mAltitude=0.0,mHasSpeed=false,mSpeed=0.0,mHasBearing=false,mBearing=0.0,mHasAccuracy=true,mAccuracy=80.0,mExtras=Bundle[{city= }]]
Here you go:
Code:
D/NetworkProviderService( 395): Get data from Mapbar - onLocationChanged location:Location[mProvider=network,mTime=1288201957314,mLatitude=50.86621,mLongitude=4.71554,mHasAltitude=false,mAltitude=0.0,mHasSpeed=false,mSpeed=0.0,mHasBearing=false,mBearing=0.0,mHasAccuracy=true,mAccuracy=99.0,mExtras=Bundle[{city= }]]
If it can help, my correct location would be about 700 to the west of what maps shows.
This guy also posted some Mapbar debug info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8853876&postcount=3477
Thank you all for posting.
I have only just got back home and will look at all of the data now. I know there's a lot of chatter about this floating in the "air" already.
It's odd that your all getting true cordinates and not an odd figure in the Latitude...
Although there all way off I am guessing or you wouldnt be showing me the debugs
Hopefully this will all get sorted
Thank you.
(Can always do with more )
mapbar that you find in the row isent an standard app. that what the chineise awnser on maps from google.
maybe that helps

Hi all,
I'm looking for a very simple program which will read GPS coordinates from my bluetooth GPS receiver and use a GET or FORM request to upload them to a website, i.e.
www.website.com/gps.php?n=000.000&w=000.000
Does such a program exist? I've had a look around here and on Google and can't find anything.
If not, I would be willing to have a go at making it. In this instance, does anyone have any pointers for reading the data from the Com port?
Thanks
Oliy
Try the search next time

Thanks for the link, however all the solutions in there are far more complex than what I want, or limited to me making an account on someone else's server.
Is there just a really simple app to do this? Or could anyone provide source code of getting the GPS coordinates, and I could make the rest of the program from there.
Cheers
Oliy: it's a little more involved then just reading the com port. What kind of experience do you have? You have to do quite a bit of token and string parsing. Have a read of the GPS protocols:

Hi Vijay,
Thanks for the link. String and token parsing is fine. I have plenty of experience in core operations of programming languages, it's when you get into hardware specific things that I have very little experience.
I don't have a whole lot of time to program at the moment, I start my internship on monday and I have work on my own little OmapScaler project building up as well, but I've found a guy on this forum who seems to have the same ideas as me, I've PMd him and will hopefully get a reply soon.

After a month or more of search for a gps app that would include a map for egypt i finally came across smart2go....
I downloaded v1.1 that btw is free, and the egypt map that btw are incredible in the level of detail.
anyway there is a problem, the gps locates me and follows my position just fine, but clicking on any destination from anywhere i get no route between chosen points....
does anybody know if this can be fixed, i really wish i could enjoy my gps like all x1 owners on this forum !
PS. if anybody has a newer version plzzzzz pm me !
thanks for the info, but from where did you download smart2go and Egypt Maps and how did u load the maps into the program?
شكرااااااااااااااااااااااااا
Routing is usually dependent on the GPS program you're using
Hi there,
Let me start by saying this is going to be a proper newb question Im afraid. I've had a search around but couldnt find what I was looking for, hence the new thread. I am sure there is already a ton of info for my problem so could someone please just point me in the right direction?
That said, the problem is this, I have absolutely no idea what Im doing when it comes to GPS.
I've been onto Google Maps and it all looks great but it has me positioned quite some distance away from my actual location. So I looked into getting some sort of GPS software so that I could make Google Maps more accurate (is that even how it works?). So far I dont want to go and spend my money on say TomTom7 or Igo8 just yet as I want to see how this sort of thing works first. So, I went and found some free GPS software (Im currently trying AzimutGPS) but everytime I try to connect it says "No GPS Signal"
I'm sure I'm doing something quite obviously stupid and wrong, I just cant for the life of me work out what it is!
Any help would be very appreciated!
go into quickgps in you prgrams list and download the info
the problem is you need to have this info otherwise getting a fix takes a very long time
Thank you for the help. I've done this and also found the option in Googlemaps to enable GPS (doh!) So I am now showing on the map as about 20 metres from my exact location, very cool indeed
For some reason I still cant get Azimut to work? Presumably something in the settings Im doing wrong but cant for the life of me work it out.
Are there any decent free navigation programs? Or is best to just pony up the dough and buy IGo8 or TomTom7?
tomtom 7 as softare is free, its the maps that cost money
but u get one free map on startup of tomtom7
hold onh ill get the cab

Really? What an absolute result!
Thanks fella

In my defence I did search Just apparently not very well! The wiki is damned useful and I've used that extensively for the programs and games list
Thanks again for your help, it was much appreciated.
Hello,
I wanted to know if anyone had an idea to implement this function because I'm looking since yesterday and I have not found much, just:
developer.android.com/reference/android/location/Address.html
developer.android.com/reference/android/location/Geocoder.html
developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredPostal.html
But I am not more advanced and my question remains: I'd like to know: how to know the road on which we are?
For example, I want my application to tell me: you're on the street...xxx or highway...xxx
Like on the free application " compass " that makes it !
Thanks in advance for your answers!
And escuse me for my english, i'm french.
Well the links you have provided are the right ones except the last one. I'm not sure for what you'd need the contacts for that.
Now in principle you obtain a Location object from your LocationManager. Get the latitude and longitude from that Location object and pass those values to the GeoCoders getFromLocation() method.
You will get a List of Address objects from which you can get all the information you need.
Here is an example:

Hello,
because I’m a newbie, I hope to be in the right forum (because I only have question but no answer …).
Here’s my problem:
I can’t get GPS to work on my Samsung J320F (2016)! It always “seems” to function, but neither Google-Maps can find a position, nor openstreetmap. When I try to look after the actual address, mostly a place some kilometers away from my position is shown (if at all …).
Since now I’ve tried about nearly 10 different ROM-images, most of them had been called “stable“, and other users wrote about their working GPS.
Actually, I’ve installed RR-N-v5.8.5-20181025-j3xlte-Unofficial (2nd version with the same name …), before that I tried e.g. lineage-14.1-20190705-UNOFFICIAL-j3xlte.zip, RR-N-v5.8.5-20171003-bacon-Unofficial-RomilParh, DreamReborn1.4.zip, lineage-13.0-20170715-UNOFFICIAL-j3xnlte, lineage-13.0-20171128-UNOFFICIAL-j3xnlte.zip or lineage-13.0-20180208-UNOFFICIAL-j3xnlte.
Does anybody have a hint what I might do wrong, or how I could fix or at least locate the problem?
Everything else mostly works fine, and with the original operating system (Android 5.1) also GPS worked.
Thanks in advance
Christoph

Hello together,
it looks like I have found the solution! It wasn’t the ROM or OS, but just the map-software I used seems to be faulty.
When I take the app "maps.me" instead of google maps or openstreetmap, everything works fine! (And to find out this, I needed several days …)
So, the thread can be closed. Maybe it can help others with a similar problem.
Bye,
Christoph
