[Q] Where battery temp should be? - G2 and Desire Z General

What the title says, and what is considered too hot? Thanks!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you really only need to be worried if it closes in on 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Lower the better of course, but lower 90s and below is dandy.

I just started using setcpu and wqs curious what is the normal and safe range for a dinc processor? I want to set a profile but I'm not sure what the temp range is

I never like it to get above 45 c.
my setcpu profiles kick in at 44c
Heat
I am on DINC # 3. DINC # 1 would, for no particular reason, start to superheat, getting to to 108-109F. By 113F it would start rebooting to the initial screen, then go black, then go to the initial screen, then go black ... 4-13 times. That got very old so I sent it back.
Heat can be an issue.

Overclock widget settings???

Ok I'm still kinda a noob so hear me out and try not to judge me. Thanks! Anyhow I have an HTC Hero CDMA through Cellular South. I am rooted and running CM 6.1. I have downloaded Overclock Widget from the market hoping to get a little more speed and battery life out of my phone. I have read to start the overclocking at 250 min and 768 max and if that don't work to keep changing it til you find that happy place. Well my problem is that any setting I put it on it acts fine for a few hours then it starts making my phone freeze. I know ever phone is different but I was woundering if everyone could share their settings with me and I will give them all a try. Maybe one of you have the setting I need. Thanks in advance!!!

Raise your min to the next step, 345, I believe. Leave max at 768. If you still get reboots, lower your max to 728. Keep dropping your max until you quit getting reboots. Personally, my phone can run at 768 just fine, and even higher, but like you said, not all can.

I would lower the Max before raising the Min in this case.

Sounds good to me. I'm just not a fan of 250 min. I feel it starves the device of needed processor speed when an app calls when the screen is off.

Ok I am running 160 min and 768 max right now and it seems to be doing ok! I never thought about lowering the min! Lol!

superhero
running aosp gb overclocked at 710Mhz and low setting at 352 Mhz . new rom is a little laggy every now and than, but overall working pretty good. live wallpapers not loading, but not good for the hero anyways.

Safe battery temp

I didn't see an answer for this anywhere. What is the maximum temp this phone can safely handle before it starts getting damaged? It's starting to get warmer and i want to know when i should start to be concerned.

Be concerned when it enters the 100's(F), which it gets to while charger sometimes at high freqs and around 110ish. With normal use mines stays in the 90's or 80's.

I think it got up to 114 once and I had pulled of the battery cover and held it in front of the ac til it hit 85 degrees.

What freqs do you use on your MT4G? According to your sig you have MIUI, no?
That rom should run fine on Scary/Conservative instead of demonspeed or smartass. Temps will be lower with Scary/conserv governor enabled.

Odd..Unless the phone is kept in a warm or hot area, and is being used heavily too. Under 1GHz the temps should be fine, do you use the phone a lot?
mine hit mid 160's one day when my charger didn't stop charging (was at 99% for a couple hours) didn't do any damage, still on original battery and seem to get decent battery life on fusion/faux 0.7 kernal.

OMG i would be in a panic if i saw battery temp that high! I get concerned over 110.
my phone overheated to the point where parts of the touchscreen wouldnt respond. after it cooled down...everything was fine.
i got this when using assisted gps....

You're putting the HW parts at risk..Especially the CPU which can fail from those temps, this isnt a desktop CPU which has cooling to help the chip. These mobile chips shouldnt stay at those ranges. How can you even hold the phone at those temps? That's just crazy IMHO.

i realized that...i wasnt trying to keep the phone at that temp, it just suddenly happened...as soon as i noticed...i turned off the phone and pulled the battery.
the phone wasnt that hot...its the cpu

I see, well do you use OC too or normal frequency range? I used to have a Sammy before the MT4G, and it would get really warm even w/o changes to CPU clock(But it uses Conserv. by default). These 1GHz+ chips generate lots of heat, I wonder if this is related to those bad EMMCs failing too...

[Q] Battery temperature levels

What would be the temperature of the phone when overheating?
Sometimes it feels like the temperature is very high but I don't know if it's overheating or not. The maximum I had was 36.0°C/96.8°F.
how can you tell? the phone temp keeps staying at 0C...

i have setcpu profile set to: >37 °C 600 mhz so it usually never goes higher than maybe 38°C
if you think its hot if must be around 40° or more
Lol today mine went up to 49°C
Really hot

Yes many people have reported of the phone getting a little hot. i think you should just choose on set of freq like 1 / 1.2 Ghz and 368 Mhz. Set the Wifi to off when screen in Off. The phone should be fine. too much heat is neither good for the phone nor foe the battery.
Once had the same problem.
All was solved after applying this method (with a little modification)

I am afraid I cannot help you.
This top hi-end scientific method is still under development and has taken many years to come this close to perfection.
When it is out for sale I will let you know
