Please help me get my G2 back to running nicely :)

I have screwed with my G2 a bit too much...
I bought it 2nd hand with CM7, then I screwed with it a bit, loading different ROMs, trying (and failing) to put the DZ Hboot on it, and other things.
Now, I have CM7 back on it but with the wallpaper that has carried over from BlissSense and the USB connectivity that wont work, nor will Settings open.
Could anyone tell me how to COMPLETELY wipe my phone and start again?
ROM manager isn't working well either, when I try to install a new ROM it reboots but just freezes on the HTC splash screen and doesnt make it into recovery.
Well 2 options:
1) COMPLETELY unroot and start over with the wiki/gfree method to get a good root etc.
2) Simply run ROM manager, flash an older recovery (I'm assuming it wont boot into recovery because its on a 5.x.x.x bad flash). I recommend just flashing the 3.0.2.4 version. After that, download a new ROM .zip (CM7 or whatever you want), put it on your SDcard. Enter recovery, do a COMPLETE wipe, clear everything, and flash the new ROM.
Don't backup any apps or anything. Just start over from scratch with this new ROM flash.
are you able to get into recovery at all though? if you can, search up SuperwipeG2+ in the dev forum and run that. that should wipe your phone 110% so you can install CM7 again.

Thanks,
1) - I will try that after I try 2, but I will have to look it up cause I have no idea how to unroot.
2) Ok, I went into ROM manager and flashed 3.0.2.4, then i entered recovery, these are my options:
-reboot system now
-apply update from sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard
-backup and restore
-mounts and storage
-advanced
-power off
What do I do now?
1. wipe data/factory reset
2. wipe cache partition
3. install zip from sdcard > seect ROM that I want
Ok, well I did this:
-Downloaded and put SuperwipeG2 on my sdcard (not SuperwipeG2+ cause I dont have GPS issues)
-Flashed Recovery 3.0.2.4 (Which was a downgrade)
-Rebooted to recovery
-installed from zip > superwipeG2
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-install zip from sdcard > CM7.0.3.zip
Now it is a real nice fresh CM7!
Thanks GUYS!
Can I ask one more question?
I ran the PC10IMG.zip update to give my G2 a Desire Z HBoot (which was sucessful, vr no. is now .84 where as the old G2 was .76).
But when I go to System > about phone > system memory = 370MB
And data mem = 1.05GB
So I lost the usual 300MB from data mem but didnt make the 200MB gain in system mem!!! what happened?

[Q] Nandroid restore fail - stuck @ Google logo

Hi all,
So I'm facing a problem with my Defy after flashing some ROMs, as detailed in this post.
Since I've made Nandroid-backups when everything was OK, my natural answer was to restore the phone to a previous state using it.
But for some reason after restoring a Nandroid (I've tried with both I have) my phone stucks with the Google logo and never finish booting...
Those are the steps I follow to restore a Nandroid:
1. Boot into Recovery Mode
2. Wipe data/factory reset
3. Wipe cache partition
4. Wipe dalvik cache
5. Restore system & data (choose nandroid by date)
6. Reboot system now
Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I restore my phone to a previous date?
Any idea is greatly appreciated...
You might have flashed gb kernel ROMS as well. Probably now you are coming from a GB kernel build to a froyo kernel build.
You need follow these steps, restore system+data, boot, devtree, and optionally recovery. Check if you have boot.img, devtree.img files in your nandroid. You should use cwm recovery which has these options to restore, they will present in Advanced restore.

Thank you. I would've tried this. But yesterday night I did a full SBF so that I could restart using the phone. So I've lost access to root and CMW. Will bring those back when I have a chance and, then, ROMize it all over again...
Cheers.

Try using the normal option after the restore in the boot option in bootmenu rather than 2nd-init

[Q] Custom ROM, kernel and recovery

Hey everyone!
I would like to flash P.A.C.-MAN ROM on my phone, and also a new kernel, and I need some help with that.
As of right now, I am rooted with DjEmbey's root-method, and have BusyBox and SuperSU installed. I have a regular i9505, XXUAME2, 4.2.2, official device status and all Know related items removed. Do I need to do some kind of updating of my device, before doing any flashing, or do I only have to wipe /data, cache etc.?
I've read some in the P.A.C. Q&A thread on how to flash a custom recovery. But before I flash a new recovery, should I format /data, cache and Dalvik cache? I've heard people recommend TWRP over CWM, is it more stable or have better functionality, is TWRP compatible with P.A.C.?
For a new kernel, I've thought about this one. Is it compatible with P.A.C. ROM?
After I've flashed a custom recovery, should I always format /data, cache, Dalvik cache and fix permissions, before and after every kind of flashing?
Is BusyBox and (or) SuperSU reserved when flashing a new ROM and kernel, will it be included in P.A.C. or do I have to install it manually?
Thanks in advance for all answers
There are plenty of guides and Google is your friend.
Flash recovery via Odin. I use CWM never had a problem. If your nervous about flashing get the SGS4 flasher and flash recovery through the app. Then reboot and jump into recovery volume up + home button + power ( let go of the power button once you see the screen turn on). Do a full wipe cache davlik. I also go to mounts and format /system. Then install your ROM from the SD card. Good luck.
Echoe ROM. Rock Solid. Stable. Blazingly Fast with Adam Kernel.

Unable to flash Hyperion X

I am a noob and just an android enthusiast. All the Galaxy Y roms I had used earlier were stock based. I decided to give Hyperion X a try and I followed the following steps for flashing-
1) Flashed stock ROM
2) Rooted the phone
3) Went into Samsung recovery. Flashed CWM 5.0.2.8
4) Mounted data sytem cache
5) Flashed ext4formatter
6) Without going back to cwm again directly flashed sir nvsetup's kernel
7)Then went back to cwm>advanced>reboot recovery
8) Then formatted data system cache
9) Wiped battery stats and dalvik cache
10) Mounted system data cache sdcard
11) Flashed Hyperion X
12) Flashed gapps
Every time I ended up on a bootloop ( I have tried flashing 4 times :crying: ) Please tell me where I went wrong.
For those who can't install the rom properly you can follow this guide:
-Flash Stock Rom via odin (If you're on stockrom skip this step)
-Flash CWM recovery using stock recovery (v.6.0.1.2 or 5.0.2.8)
-After flashing cwm recovery mount System,Data,Cache
-Flash Cm Specific Kernel
-After flashing cm kernel go back and mount System,Data,Cache
-Flash EXT4 formatter
-After flashing go to advance and recovery and REBOOT RECOVERY
-Now you're on the recovery again now mount System, Data,Cache
-Wipe S,D,C
-Mount S,D,C
-Flash the rom file or zip
-Go back Mount S,D,C
-Flash G-apps
-Reboot Now (Wait for it it takes time to boot the rom )
-Sorry for a long guide it's only for those who cannot understand the instructions given to flash the rom
