If you want to root just plug your phone in and root with unrevoked. Don't know if you can use LCD density on wildfire though.

uhm... Buy a Desire or some other phone with a better display?
LCD Density doesn't improve the display quality, it only resizes objects shown on the screen...

Use the search function. There are plenty threads regarding movie playing. (and not in the developer forum but in the General or Apps Forum perhaps?)

build.prop:
ro.sf.lcd_density=120
@115: it seems to be the best compromise.
@110 & less : too small, looks bad and glitch.

Has anybody attempted to adjust the screen density on the MT4G? I've done it before with the Android ROMS on my HD2 and I was thinking that adjusting the density down may have a great effect of the depth and clarity. All the talk in the Desire ROM Thread and how the screen looks just got me thinking.
Anybody that has the location and some instructions that want to toss it out... I will give it a shot.
OR.... I may be way off base.

I have mine running at 190. Most people are running at 200.
instructions are pretty simple with ADB, hopefully you have some experience with it.
adb pull /system/build.prop
open up a text editor and look for "ro.sf.lcd_density=240" change the 240 to desired number and save
adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
reboot
enjoy the additional screen real estate.
Sicdroid let me know your impressions on the mod and I'll be right behind you to try it next

I set it to 215... 190 was just a little to small. There is a lot more real estate on the screen for sure.
BTW, I used Root Manager instead of adb. Check it out and see what you think. Easy to test and change it back.
I found what I "Believe" to be a sweet spot for me at 220. The clarity and the way it makes use of the screen is great. I will post a MOD post with the info and sceen shots before and after in the Dev Section.
Reconizing pklee for the info of course.
Why the games screen is too big like the all buttons stick likee i dont know can any one here can help mee ?
Sorry about bad english im latvian !!
because the resolution of the game is biger then display resolution on x8!
If you're getting APKs not from the market, then it's likely they're not completely tailored to the X8 screen. Either get the apps from the market if you want apps that are compatible, or, look for apps from phones with lower resolution screens.
You can change you phone desity in a lower value... bigger screen.

ThT doesn't work , I tried

Mmmm... so the only thing left is to replace apk with one for our phone...
have anyone succesfully tried to changed pixel density on our device? if you did, please leave a comment - i'd like to know which app and rom you used. thanks in advance.
btw. is it possible to lower the resolution on android devices? (resolution, not density, some people seem not to realise that these are two different things)

You can change densyti in build.prop about 140 and 150 looks very good but apps does not show properly.
Anybody know how to change resolution?

I have a problem with camera ... My pictures is so ugly . It's like a 2mp camera . What can i do ?
All settings are on high , it's on 5MP in settings ... I don't know what to do . Please help .
Are you rooted yet? Some custom roms have a few tweaks to the camera settings but without s-off (i think) and root, you won't be able to use them and are stuck with either stock camera or an app from the market.

Plus, pics viewed on your phone from your phone always look shabby but should look better when viewed and a larger screen resolution i.e on your p.c
" I'm not lucky,I'm blessed "
I don't root anything ... Give me a tutorial with that tweaks and with root and s-off that ... I mod iPhone not android ... About android i don't know anything .

your lens is smugged....replace it....or there is a problem with focusing...on the native app....try increasing the sharpness....
use camera 360....it produces the best quality pics....just disable pre focusing...
what is camera 360 ?

Solution
I've seen a whole lot of HTC Wildfires with the same problem (I work as a cell phones dealer), and virtually ALL OF THEM had the same cause of that problem, and that is: scratched lenses. But, don't panic. You can solve this for free. The tools for solving this are most probably in your toilet. Don't do any rooting or something else that can be hazardous to your phone before you try this:
1. Take some of the tooth paste using a tooth pick and put it on the lens of your phone. (tooth paste is incredibly good for a glass polishing)
2. Take a toilet paper and polish the lens with it.
3. That's it.
It may seem funny but I'm not kidding you, this thing works. Even though lens may seem like they are not scratched, but there actually are a lot of little scratches that are extremely hard to notice.

I saw a developent post in general android hacking and developing that said "to port the ROM of your choice choose the resolution needed for your device." Is there anyway that the Atrix could be forced to run a CM based ROM that is made for 1366x768 rather than 960x540; this would prevent the horrible pixilation problem in HDMI mirroring for the lapdock... Just a thought.

I don't think I understand your reply...
I think it is possible, you could even mod it to set the resolution when you want but it may require a reboot for each resolution change (Or not... The Asus PadFone does it on-the-fly after all), but the remaining problems are : Will it boot correctly ? Can we use the HDMI output as main output to bypass the screen ?
That's a good matter for a productive talk.
I'm not a dev, nor do I have the time to juggle learning and finals, regardless. Is it possible to create a lapdock ROM like this? It'd be great if someone could input. Thanks.
I had a look but don't see the thread. Any chance you can post a link?

OK, so the purpose of that thread is to qualify a rom to port. They are saying to choose a ROM whose source resolution matches the target device screen resolution. I don't know if this will help to eliminate screen scaling. I think what we need is a method to force the HDMI to become the primary display. The Screen Standby app has some work in development that may make this possible one day.
