wheres my wifi??? - Mogul, XV6800 General

i just aquired a mogul from a friend of my that decided to upgrade his phone. when i got it everything was working (including wifi) then i did a hard reset on the device to wipe out his info and i was going to use it as a wifi tablet (i dont use a cdma carrier) after the hard reset the wifi all but quit working. when i flipped the switch it would show up for a brief moment then it would go away. i would even see the light flash once before it stopped working any ideas on why this unit's wifi not longer can activate and is there another way to get it (the wifi) to work
ever so confused

Wifi to GPRS/3G

I have searched this and other forums and have not seen either this problem or an answer to it. Per AT&T's suggestion, I just upgraded to the new AT&T rom version that adds PTT and seems to have big problems. My current issue is that when I first boot up and connect via GPRS/3G all works well. When I get to a wifi area and switch to wifi, again all works well. However when I leave the wifi area (or just turn off wifi) I can't get any data via GPRS/3G. The balloon comes up saying it is connecting. The little "G" and bidirectional arrows in the top left indicate it is connected. However in the browser, it just continues to grind away with "Locating" in the bottom right corner until it finally times out and puts up a screen that says that the "page cannot be displayed because the connection was lost". I open the connection manager and press and hold the "Data Connection" icon until that goes off and try again, same problem. The only way I can get GPRS/3G data connection to actually work again is to reboot. Any ideas what is going on or how this can be fixed? Forgot to add that this is an HTC 8525. Thanks.
From your description I wasn't able determine whether AT&T's suggestion was aimed at remedying the issue, or if it's something that came about with the update.
Assuming the latter, you may want to try a hard reset first and run it for a bit before loading any other apps. Failing that, reflash the ROM. I had a lot of trouble with my radio when my 8525 was new, but it mysteriously cleared up after a few radio flashes.
Thanks but still a problem
Thanks for your thoughts here. I hard reset and reflashed.
Yes the firmware is the latest one that AT&T has suggested that everyone who had the older Cingular phones upgrade to. It provides the AT&T logo, the "push to talk" feature, and some other junk. I have contacted AT&T about this and their response was to send me a new phone that they claimed had the old firmware, since they have been getting a lot of complaints about the new firmware. It didn't have the old firmware and also it's SIM card reader appears to be broken. I called HTC and they said that they too have had lots of complaints about the new firmware quirks but had nothing to offer to solve them. Anyway, the old firmware had no problem switching between wifi and CGRS so I don't think it is in the hardware. On the other hand I'm surprised that nobody else is encountering the problem from the upgrade.
I'm having the same prob. Purchase three of these phones and the other users have little technical expertise. First I set up a sync with my office PC. Then loaded the ROM update. I run MAC's @ home had difficulty connecting to my home wifi. Finally determined that the 8525 would not accept the 13 key ASCII wep password. Needed to use the HEX. So I connected. Went to work and had problems syncing with my PC. Active sync had to rediscover the device. Now I'm back home and can't connect again. My Device ID changed names upon "resyncing" and I updated the Airport Base Station with my new name. I've spent a lot of time on this issue.. Maybe I need to send em back for an iPhone!
Well I found a solution to it
This is a great forum - though somewhat hard to search through thoroughly. Anyway the solution for me was to go back to ROM 1.34. Found how to do that through flashing from the micro card at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311704&highlight=cingular+8525+rom+version and getting the production ROM version at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades. Back to normal - everything works fine. Just for a trial, I also downloaded ROM V2.1.1 and it works find also - but sure seems a bit large - ends up with 42.9M of storage free vs V1.34 that has 50.25. Think I'll try the the memory expansion process at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298327&highlight=want+more+storage. That seems to at least provide a more than 9 megabyte smaller MBH file but I don't know what that translates to in memory usage yet.
Suspect there is a way to fix this problem but I haven't seen anything in the forums on it.

Phone Not connecting to Network

Not sure if any of you guys here have faced this issue. But quiet often when I reboot my phone it starts up to the home screen and then doesn't connect to the wireless network, so basically i see the home screen and none of the buttons work, I remove the battery several times and suddenly it connects to the network.
Is this a known issue and is there a workaround?
I use the official windows mobile 6.1 rom released by HTC for the Sprint Mogul
I'm hearing two problems here:
1 - Your phone doesn't connect to the network. Have you tried to do a hard reset? That sounds like a software issue. Make sure you back up all of your cab files and contacts/mail/texts that you want to keep.
2 - Your buttons don't work. That sounds like a hardware issue and not necessarily related to the network issue. Have you brought it in to a Sprint store to see if they can repair or replace your phone?
i am also facing same problem, my mogul shows wifi on status but does not detects the wireless network, and after several on/off (through wifi on off hardware slider) it sometimes gets connected.
Please help
Its neither 1 or 2.
usually when you switch a sprint phone on you get a pop up saying "connecting to the sprint network dialing # 777" and after sometime, once the network connects then the phone is fully functional.
sometimes for my phone on rebooting it doesnt connect to the sprint network and as a result my phone remains unusable, in the sense the touch screen/buttons dont work. after several soft resets/battery removal it finally connects. I live in an area where there is good network connectivity!

OK, thanks. That gives me a much clearer picture. I don't think this is a network problem. You most likely have something on your phone that causes it to freeze during start-up. Did you install something new or make a registry change just prior to this starting? Also, would you be willing to either reflash or hard reset your phone? A new flash with a re-cooked or different ROM will most likely help you out.
which recooked rom would you suggest. I use the default windows 6.1 rom released by sprint. and btw I removed phone alarm from my phone and it starts up fine now.
There are a few great options, and it's personal preference.
Ryan has made some very good ROMs available here on the upgrade forum.
DCD's last public version are still widely popular.
TPLane37 has made some neat WM 6.5 ROMs available
There's also some good stuff going on over at ppcgeeks.com using the most recent build of WM 6.5
You can also try cooking your own ROM using the tools at ppckitchen.org
Make sure you read up on how to flash before you try it. The process involves a number of steps that must be completed in the proper order.

Elf loses phone signal, doesn't reconnect

My wife's Elf keeps losing the phone network connection, each time she was in an area without reception, like elevators etc. and than refuses to register back to the network. Only way to get it to register again is to do a soft reset. (turning off and on the phone radio sometimes works, automatic and manual network selection don't). Tried another SIM card, same thing happened. The problem developed when she started to use GPRS/EDGE (previosly used her phone for calls and SMS).
Any ideas?
Have you tried flashing to a new radio in the elf upgrading forums?
Cheers
Changed radio still no go. Interesting enough it works when she doesn't use GPRS. I changed the RIL registry settings, and will be testing it next few days.
Oh, check it out and see how it goes.
Radio is usually affecting the issue.
You can hard reset, if it doesnt work!
Do backup!!
Seems like I tried everything possible and still nothing, it is probably hardware failure. My wife is going nokia after this, she said no more winmo.

[Q] Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore

Hi guys, I need you to help me with my N4 because as it is said in the title, the wireless connection has left working (since yesterday).
I'll put you in situation: Yesterday just after touching the icon to open the navigator (waze) the device showed an "interference" on the screen and turned off. It was difficult (at least 10 tries before working) to restart the phone, and that interference was again on the screen at the begining of the first seen of the deskboard(you know, the main screen with the widgets and all this kind of things). When I came home 4h after this strange happening I realize that the Wi-Fi didn't work.
This morning I've been trying some things like shutting down the device for around and hour and try again, disabling the NFC or restoring the default settings but no one of these tries has worked so... I'm worried.
The device runs Android 4.2.2, never has been rooted or flashed or something like that.
Can you help me with this trouble?
You can't connect to a wifi network or you can't activate the wifi module?

I can't activate the module. Anyway, I've been speaking with Google's support and it is possible that it has been caused by an short-circuit on the mainboard so they're going to change the device for a new one (thanks to the warranty).
Thank you very much for your interest.

Optimus 7 E900 WiFi is dead?

Hello, does anyone have an idea what's wrong with a E900 I have? It used to work just fine, and it still does, but it keeps deactivating WiFi. It also is not able to find _any_ WiFi network at all though it says it is searching. The rest works. Anything I can do apart from sending it to LG?
The phone is running 7.5, though I'm trying to update it to 7.8.
A hard reset didn't help. And as soon as I go back to the main settings page (from the place I can activate WiFi) it is turned off. So go in there, turn on, go back, off. Rinse and repeat.
Sounds like a defective part to me...
Bluetooth does work, and so does the FM radio. Aren't they all supposed to be in one chip?
I've had some problems with my E900 which only a double hard reset solved the problem, but nothing with the wifi. But always worth a try
I have a similar problem, after a certain update, wifi is buggy, and doesn't get a proper ip from my router. I'm positive it's a software problem. Any suggestions?
