LMT Launcher alternative? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi everybody,
I've migrated to Android in the past couple of days, and the app I miss the most from WM is LMT launcher. It's not that I 've been using the app a lot in WM; it's just that under Android you have to manually fire a task manager each time you want to close an app. What I was looking for is the universal "two fingers swipe" from LMT that will allow me to terminate the current foreground app.
Any ideas or suggestions?

android is build very differently. You don't need a task manager. Just use autokiller app if you think your hd2 lack of free ram.

you did not really read the post, did you? he's not asking about a task killer or whether it's reasonable to have one or not.
he is asking for an app that supports multitouch-gestures to launch applications, for example a video player, his favorite game, or maybe even a taskmanager (please, no need to tell again that there's no need for a taskmanager in android )

Exactly what i'm searching for! I wanted to open a new Thread and found this one...
For those of you who don't know about the functionality of LMT:
LMT is an app laucher which much more features! You can assign multitouch gestures for starting programs, switch between programs (double left for previous program, double right for next programm, double bottom to top for close program etc), switch connections and much much more...
I think it woult perfectly work with ithing thumb if you assign it to double top to bottom.
I already asked the dev of LMT to port it - but he don't use android on HD2...
Here's a little video of LMT - but its a very old version and doesn't show everything...
I think this would be a great enrichment for every android user!
Is this possible an Android???
Thank you very much for reading and replys...
greets
Edit: Found another video from pocketnow.com, which shows a bit more...

Can someone with android development skills tell me, if an app like LMT would be possible? Can an app/service catch all touch events, even when it is not the foreground app. If this is possible, I'll dowload the SDK and start porting...

Lol, thank god that ppl see my point.
Anyway, did anyone have any experiences about this:

If it is possible, I may save one of my weekends from WP7 development and try Android instead. ;-)

you can try the app from my attachment. WinMo style X button in your status bar. of course this is not LMT`s "swipe to close", but seems to be the fastest way to close app in Android

OK, I'll push this Thread, because we need an answer to this question:

Would be fantastic if it could be done - and you'll do it, noname or papajohn!!!
Thank you!

The weekend is here, and I spent a few minutes looking into this. Unfortunately, it can't be done...:-(

But thank you very very much, papajohn, for explaining and spent your time on research!

noname81, I appreciate your work so much and thanks again for it! I want to ask when are you going to add more gestures? I think an L is possible (then you have a mirror L and 2 more rotated Ls). Plus double L again in the 4 possible mirror positions and only with this we end up with 8 more gestures. What about a mirrored delete gesture? There are many more potential candidates. Like double square but made and then this opposite direction of movement (counterclockwise) can be used for other gestures to double their number...
Please, see the picture.
Hope to get you interested!
Thanks again!
I will post this in the official thread as well.

LMT for Android
noname81 did it again! This time for some Android devices.

Alpha Testers Needed: TouchNav (Scroll with your fingers)

Hi All,
I have been working on an enhancement that allows scrolling from anywhere on the screen, not just using the scrollbars. The idea is to tweak the UI so that it functions more intuitively. This app is still in Alpha. However, for those that like this functionality and would like to help me with testing and provide me with good suggestions, that would be extremely appreciative.
Here is the run down on the app:
-Loads on startup and places an icon on the home screen.
-Currently, a flicker of the startup screen will appear during bootup.
-May not work at times on initial loading of a window.
Thank and enjoy. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry guys, I had to remove the cab.
This is a great idea. I have been looking for such an application.
I installed it, did a soft-reset and the little icon appeared on the home screen as you indicated. The following is my feedback:
- the scrolling does not work in IE (where it's probably most useful)
- the direction of the scrolling is counter-intuitive. I expected that dragging down to scroll down (as in iPhone); it does the opposite.
Thanks for the application.
good idea maybe. i may misunderstand the features of this program. i'm currently able to scroll by dragging in most apps on my wm5. in IE i use PIE to scroll by dragging. in contacts (both default wm5 and inesoft address book i can also scroll by dragging. i also able to scroll by dragging in resco file explorer. for image i also scroll by dragging using resco photo viewer. am i missing something ?

the issue is that by default, you have to scroll with your stylus and there are no out of the box functionality that allows you to scroll from anywhere with your finger. Similar to the iphone.

You are right about the drag position. In terms of the PIE issue, that is known. I am working on it.
I tried to run this on WM5 and it says that my "mini" .net framework is not compatible. Is this only designed for WM6?

It requires CF 2.0. It is not designed specifically for WM 6.

You may also know this already, but I thought I mention it:
The application disables the "click-and-hold" function in IE which is used to go Back and to select Favorites.
Thanks,
Installed and works great for me - I do agree that the scrolling should be the other way round though. Thanks!
this worked great on my hermes!
One bug I noticed is that to be able to scroll through my contacts, I have to first enter my contacts list, and then click "ok" and then again open the contacts list.
Any news on development or fixed alpha version? I would really prefer this over TouchFlo on my Hermes, since it does not eat so much performance and HTCHome is excellent app though!!
Olioaglio
ei,
any news from this must have application?
dont give up, go on man, you are the one
Yeah... keep us posted on Beta, and possibly RC releases
Thanks for this apha release. I would prefer not to have the icon on the today screen because I have a limited amount of space on there.
The scrolling worked on File Explorer / Resco Explorer. Did not seem to work on my newreader pRSSreader. In PIE I always have 'screen drag' turned on so prefer to use that but would still like the right-click menu which this disables.

May the force be with you
rathoughts ,

SCLPF Suggestion POLL

Hi Guys,
It was requested that I start a poll on what users want the Beta 9 to have. So here are a few questions I have for you.
Regards,
Slither2006.
In the dialer page, is it possible to show the number in mobile, home and work field? or maybe disable the button, say make it in gray color, if there is no contact in that field.
Hi Kinson,
I'll see what I can do.
Regards,
Slither2006,
Don't you have enough free time on your hands to do all of these updates?
My first choice: One-touch dialing
Second: Customize option for other faces
The memory usage increase is not a concern for me.
Oh, how about the option to remove the fourth menu?
Personally I think while I wanted to choose many of those options the best one would be to acomodate the users who are having issues running this software.
In my opinion everyone should have the option to utilize this great piece of software because its awesome.
Other options
Hi,
I think that a better way to this app is to port it to native WM code, not using CF.NET, but C++

Taguapire

That's been discussed before. There are reasons for not doing it right now.
I chose a little more memory use but faster loading.
Eventually (although not a priority), I wouldn't mind seeing a secondary animation much like the HTC Album. Basically a screenwipe instead of the spin. Might be cool for the option to choose either.
I was really torn between two.
1. Give back the SCLPF TF start L/R - R/L swipe functions
2. Multiple page & customization
It's tough, I like tinkering, but I really miss the one stroke to my contacts.
maybe in the config app - the option to select which face opens with startup.... that way users can have the face that they use most frequently open when they bring up the cube...

I'm wondering the exact same thing myself mate.
Can no-one help?
Another here who misses the 'Quick Menu'.
There's a lot of talk on not being able to shut down programs that are loaded into memory without now having to launch the Task Manager first, but this was all part of the same HTC Task Manager.... you either closed it or brought it to the front.

several threads going on this. HTC task manager cab can be found in the threads "hints and tips". The cab has been provided by Dutty Throy. I have read that some users need to disable htc sence before installing.

Yes, I'm well aware of those topics. I've contributed to some myself.
What I am saying though is although there is a lot of talk on this no one seems to mention the Quick Menu's acxess list.

I agree. If the memory management is so super-duper that it can leave programs open and not have a detrimental effect then that doesn't help me switch between them on my MULTI-TASKING smart phone now does it!
I just want the quick menu back. I hate the idea of having to flash a ROM onto a phone that I've had for less than a day, just to get some of the functionality that I expected to be standard.
You can switch to running application by running it again.

I've been using a very similar OS for over a year now, and have always been able to just click the down arrow in the top right of my home screen for a list of running apps. This is what people are asking for, not work-rounds.
Besides, if the app in question is in a sub-menu of a sub-menu of the start menu, then it becomes a real pain to run it again. It's quicker to stick the task manager on your quick links on the home page and use that (despite the fact that that is ANOTHER app running, and we don't have access to exclusions any more either).
Dr.Sid said:

Yes but this is exactly why there is an issue in not having a 'Quick Menu'.
Running them again you have to open Start then find the program (of which if you have many, many programs/games can take quite a bit of effort).
Much simpler to just open the 'Quick Menu' and click on the already opened program.....

That's what missin
A camera that works fully.
Tomtom to work but i think that will come.
Apart from that i think wp7 i excellent.
From my side WP7 works amzing, but I miss an option an a feature much
connect WiFi to hidden networks.
Bluetooth rSAP support to connect the phone with my car audio system
[Edit]
GPS navigation is working perfect, but only Navigon is available at the moment which works on WP7
Copy & Past will come with the update (hope that HD2 user can also get this update)
Messenger Multitasking/Running in Background & ICQ Messenger
I miss more useless threads in Developement section, but thanks to you it's not a problem anymore
I miss being able to get useful input instead of dealing with trolls all day... I am an app developer and looking for ideas for the next app to build. Thanks for your enlightening input.

Go to General section, your topic has (at leat now) nothing to do with developement. Also now I believe that it has nothing to do with HD2 either. And there were already tons of "what's good what's bad in WP7" threads here.

Unless the app developer has add another feature or something seems I last used it. I only had to download and installcthe app. The part I am talking about is in the Touch Tools part of te app. I will be sighting this from memory here so it may not be 100% corect. Go to Start>TouchTools> Touch Tools>Menu>User interface I think. You should be able to find it then.

hi, t-mac. i went into the settings of touch tools 2.0. but i dont see any features that provide touch sensitivity. i did see, 'start menu icons per row', 'menu bar font size,' 'minimum tap time,' etc. but, i dont see any specific feature for touch screen.
