I'm coming from a modded TP to the Fascinate and have discovered an issue that was easily resolved in WinMo. I turn my phone off at night and get text, the problem is the Fascinate shows the time the text was received instead of when it was sent. I really need to know when the text were sent. Is there any known fix for this? Either another text program or even something to change in the code?

I just flashed my XV6800 to get GPS, following the instructions here:
http://www.phonenews.com/how-to-add-gps-to-htc-mogul-xv6800-p4000-titan-2663/
The GPS is enabled and things are working... more or less... but it seems like my phone no longer supports enhanced text messages. It sent the following message to my GF after she texted me (since my upgrade):
Message delivered to (myphonenumber) as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced message service.
Anyway I can get that back to the way it was?
Any ideas at all? Text messages are still working, but not the way it was. Is there a program or setting I need to change that might have been reset to some sort of default?
Hi, i need a bit of help trouble shooting an issue i have.
My G1 is running the jesusfreke ADP 1.5 image. I normally use chompsms as my default messaging client.
Quite regularly my friends are tellingme that my text messages are coming through garbled. Either all squares, or every other character is an @ symbol.
The outgoing messages appear normal on my phone.
I asked one person to forward my last messed up msg back, and it came through like this:
<Forwarded from +44777123456>
Well he is one! Don't worry about h
Although on my phone, the square symbols with numbers in show up as chinese characters.
Very strange! It happens periodically with no trigger that i can find. When it starts doing it, it continues for a couple of msgs at least.
Has anyone heard of this before, or have any ideas what i can do to fix it?
Hi,
The SMS program (the gray/black one included on a stock Rhodium) is really buggy for me - dates/times being mixed up.
Example;
I send an SMS at 12:00 to my friend.
My friend then responds at 12:01 - but it shows up as if he had responded a few minutes earlier then the time that I sent the first message, say, 11:57
It's really wierd, and I'm not sure whats causing this.
All I do know is that I can't have this, seing how I text message _alot_.
Any suggestions on how to fix this, or how to get rid of the Rhodium SMS interface, back to the functional WM SMS interface?
Thanks!
EDIT: If you don't understand the problem, I'll make a video to demonstrate better.
I have the same problem, i dont really care but its strange anyway...
Are you sure that bot your phone and your friends phone are at the exact time?
Some phone don't write the time at which you receive the SMS but the time when you friend's send the SMS based on the time of his phone and sometime it takes the time of the server that relay the SMS
yup I had my GF adjust her clock so they are in sync. then no more problems!
I may be wrong here but, I think it does this when you text through the tf3d sms. When you read the message on the touch flo screen tap the all messages tab on the bottom left and text back that way. Then see if it still happens.
I'm not a huge texting fanatic but this is how I do all my texting. Through tf3d it doesn't do auto capitalization and such. At least I haven't found a way to do it.
Yes, thats what happens.

I also prefered the 'old', standard WM SMSinterface rather than this new one, due to this bug - and the lack of auto capitalization.
What would one do to disable the new tf3d smsinterface, and just go straight to the WM one?
Tapping the "all messages" tab on the bottom left just gets annoying after some time, and I really don't prefer it.
Are we looking forward to a ROMupdate from HTC anytime soon, hms?

I synchronized my phones time with my girlfriends phone, and this still occurs - but only with the TF3D SMS program, not the WM one.
It's freaking me out.
I for example had a diferent problem. Someone sends me a message for example 13:56 and I only receive the message later, after I turn on the phone from standby. Calls sometimes give me unavailable. With my older mobile phone I didn't had any problem with that. I was thinking that the radio update will sort out the problem, but no good. Still the same problem. A big lag between send messages and received. Anyone know the cause. I had also the same problem in my Asus P535 but it fixed someway. Even with the phone connected, some times I need to make a call or activate the 3G GSM connection to receive the notification of the message.
Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with the time stamps on my text messages. The ones that I send are okay, however the ones that I receive all have different times on them. For example:
If I send a text at 8:15PM and receive a reply right away, it'll show my text sent at 8:15PM, but the reply will have a back dated time... Maybe 5PM, 4PM... something like that.
Any ideas why?
Thanks!
I find this but its by no means universal. some messages I recive are an hour ahead others are not. I recived two messages at almost the same time & one of them had the wrong time. I can't wait for the new update to fix all of these little issues
I've seen this problem since my G1. It's still suffering from it, as is my Magic and my Hero.
I'm still having the same issue.
My received text messages show a time of 4 hours behind.
So if I send a text at 6:30 and receive a reply at 6:32, it shows 2:32 as the received time.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? I have updated to the latest (leaked) firmware, but still no luck.
Thanks!
Are you all on the same network? Might not be the phone because i've never noticed this

Was just going to ask this... What network are you on, have you set network location to automatic by carrier, if so, set it manually to the city / country you are in.
I'm on O2 and have been using the network provided values.
I've set it to manual and text someone at 12:44. The reply came in a little while after and was stamped 12:45 so no issue there it seems. Strange.
I'm now getting issues now with texts in fairly quick succession.
The time stamps can be the same i.e. 21:17 but a reply from someone will sometimes appear before my original text in thread view.
Also a reply came in to one of my texts with a time stamp before my original text. This was displayed "correctly" as before my text, but the fact its timestamped in this way can't be right.
Anyone else seen this?
It's like the phone is looking at minutes for accuracy, not seconds. Also taking the timestamp of when a text was sent from the other person's phone as the time received to my phone. Hm :/
I get this on Orange when I receive a message from the US. All my outgoing messages are listed at the bottom of the conversation, while the one received from the US are at the top.
UK based conversations are all threaded correctly.
Ok thanks.
It never used to be like this so I'm wondering after prolonged use the sms database gets a bit corrupted somehow?
For me it seems to behave like this: for outgoing (sent) messages I see the time that is set on Hero. For incoming messages, however, Hero shows the time on the network provider.
I assume there is some header in SMS message containing the time, and Hero uses that instead of using the time Hero has when the message arrives.
I started using the Network Provider time (automatic) to get rid of this.
I am coming from owning a Rogers HTC Magic running stock Rogers ROM (1.5) with 911 update.
Just picked up an N1 the other day and although it's a great unit, there are some minor annoyances that are starting to get to me.
One is the native text messaging app. Now, I am a real estate agent so I receive a lot of text messages from my office. With my Magic and any other phone for that matter, these text messages would appear as "7000" as the sender name/number for example as these messages are sent through a computer via the internet. It's very similar when you receive a text from your carrier wherein it's not coming from another phone, and it's typically shown as a number as indicated above.
The problem is that this number no longer appears as the sender name/number. Instead, the sender name/number shows up as the first word in the body of the text. This may seem trivial, however, what happens now is that all the text messages I am receiving from my office are no longer grouped under "7000" for example. Instead, text messages appear as a separate thread (sender).
For example....if my office were to send a fictitious text that reads "this is a test text message", this is how it should and used to look:
7000: this is a test text message
With my N1, this is how it appears now:
this: is a test text message
The only way it will display the proper name/number in the sender field is when the text comes from an actual cell phone.
I have tried another text messaging app like Handcent and the exact same thing happens. Brutal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629753
Wild shot, have you tried saving a contact with the phone number "7000"?
The first thing I did was try to make a contact with the name "7000" but that didnt work. For some reason the text app does not compute the sender name unless it's an actual phone number or contact.
supergodie thanks for the link....looks like im not the only one...too bad that thread was started back in February and still no fix. Hope it doesnt take too long as I would hate for such a small detail to be a deal breaker for me.
The other annoyance I have is that the native mail app does not have an option for signatures! It also does not allow you to copy text like my Magic did with a long press on the screen and a menu popping up asking to you select text. You would think such "small things" would be an afterthought and not something that should be missed or left out...such basic things...it boggles my mind.
btw supergodie, have you found any workaround for this?
handcent as I have reported does the same thing...I think its because the app works off the native mail app....whatever the case, the problem still exists with handcent.
perhaps another sms app that works?
Sorry, I have not found a solution, I used to it, wait an update by google.
