Question: Sound Volume & E-mail - Desire HD General

I think the volume is pretty low don't you think for notifications at full volume? Can i change something about that?
Can someone tell me to setup Exchange for hotmail i want to be able to when i read message that later on when i use my computer it says its aleady read and not that it again is a new message.

Try converting the ringtones to wav, then increase the volume and save as mp3 again. Could work...
With a DHD i would just open the web browser and click on a bookmark to my hotmail a/c why sync it.

No Sound for incoming SMS, No PopUp, Nothing | PLEASE HELP!!

Hello!
I did a Hard-Reset, since some things weren't working fine.
After having finished the installation, I recognized that there is
NO SOUND
NO POPUP
NO BLINKING OF LED
NO VIBRATION
when I receive a SMS.
I don't know, what I can do to "repair".
PLEASE HELP!!
have you tried
Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>Event: Messaging: New Text Message
...of course I tried this.
Any other ideas?
Did you by any chance hide the ActiveSync (POP3) folder in your messaging application by editing your registry? I suppose the chances you did are quite small... Then again, it never hurts to ask.
First of all, are you getting other notifications? I.e. incoming call, etc?
What has worked for me when this has happened is to go to sounds/notification and select the sound to use when a new text message is received, then select the play button beside it to play a demo of the audio. For some reason, it seems like that helps my device to register the wake up action to take when a new call is received.
Hope this helps!
@Eggy
Yes, I removed the ActiveSync-account and the Hotmail-account in the registry.
Is there a connection between removing these accounts and hearing no sms-notifications?
@lulugirl896
For an incoming call it works fine.
I also played the sound in the options (like you wrote) but nothing changes.

Try returning the ActiveSync key the way it was. The Hotmail one shouldn't make a difference.

Could you write the structure of the registry-keys, since I don't know the old state... ?

messaging contacts in SIM

hey everyone
i'm new to this forum, have read around and found alot of useful info about the tytn.
but there are two issues i havent seen anyone talk about on this or may be its just me.
first, i cant seem to find an option to text message contacts that are saved in my SIM. Can you not message contacts in your SIM? or am i doing something wrong here?
Secondly, how do i set my ringtone as the alarm tone as well? because the sounds for alarm are too short and i need someting that will play for a while.
can anyone help me out with these ? any help will be appreciated. Thank You in advance
For the alarm tone, you need to copy a .wav file to the WINDOWS folder of you device. It should then show up in the drop down menu on the alarm page.
Unfortunately, you can only use .wav files and not .mp3. I've also noticed that files larger than 30kb wont play which means the tones would be short.
oh ok.. i tried to put .mp3 file in the windows because i noticed the alarm tones are there but i did not see it when i was setting the alarm so i guess it should be .wav and no more than 30kb i guess?
thanx alot.. going to try that
is there a way set different tones for receiving a text message and different tone for receiving a call? i did not see an option for that
also about text messaging.. i cant see an option of texting a contact if they're saved in my sim.. is there a way around it?
thank you for your help
anyone....?

thanx for the info.. i put a .wav file into windows folder and the size was 798kb and it worked
figured out everythin except messaging sim contacts..
i go in contacts.. there are no contacts so i go into menu .. sim manager.. and go into menu .. no option of text messaging.. i even keep the scroll wheel pressed on a contact and only options are to edit, delete or call.. etc but no text messaging.. so i'm guessing the contacts have to saved on the phone !?
You're not the only one, I had the same Issue with my SIM contacts and text messaging also
Spent HOURS on the phone arguing with the iMate Support Helpdesk guys who all use the same stock-standard response "Have you soft-reset? Try a hard reset? I know you say you've done it but do it now while Im on the phone? Didnt work? I dont know then?"
Problem no longer exists with WM6, I also made a thread on a local forum:
http://pressf1.co.nz/showthread.php?t=86250
Unfortunately I dont think they're about to start patching WM5 for us, so I figured it was time to go back to WM6 again (Using Schaps 4.30 this time), and so far so good... pics up my SIM contacts fine in messagins now!
thats a releif .. thanx!!
so i guess i'l b upgrading to a different rom soon enough

Auto download full email instead of pointless previews?

Hey,
Like the HD2, but there's one really annoying niggle that I can't figure out how to sort (it's probably a really obvious setting that I'm just missing).
Emails only ever seem to download a very basic preview of what the message is and then give the annoying "click to download the rest of this message" option.
Is there any way to bypass this? So emails are automatically downloaded in full, ready to read?
Cheers
Email tab>Inbox>Menu>Tools>Options>*Choose Email Account*>Download Size Settings
Change Message download limit to Entire Message.
Hope that helps.

Knew it would be somewhere nearby, thanks bud
what if download all mail attachment and pics? seems can't work with this setting.
Edit: tis working now cheers
Dont seem to have the option with hotmail.. Is this right?
I would be also happy to know how to do that with Hotmail. This option is available however doesnt matter what I set there because everytime I select "Download entire message", click "Ok" and then want to reassure if it is set I see just the default values. I could change it just in case of POP3 access but when I am using Hotmail I dont know hot to set it. Maybe I should set Hotmail via POP3 but than I couldnt use "Push email"...

Voice Synth - Read Text Msgs

In addition to another thread that says you can announce a track name while playing it by holding the UP VOLUME button, you can also do this for individual texts.
Example,
Go to a text msg thread, click on the msg, push hold UP VOLUME and it reads it.
Does anyone know a way to do this for e-mail?
Does it work if you get a text in another language then English? Do you need a local version of the rom/csc for it to work?

You bring me up to let me down. I tried this, it adjusts the font size of my text message.
Damn you Korean firmware! I'm happy for you though. Just in case I'm doing it wrong, this is the stock message app, right?
Edit: I do have SpeechSynthesis Data installed on the phone, and I can get the example to play right but it doesn't work in the text message.

It works on mine and yes its just the stock sms app, you click on the speech bubble then hold the volume up key. It should also work with the media player as well, it reads the name out of the currently playing track when you hold the up volume key (you only need to hold it until it starts speaking).
@ Deanwray, I've tried it in emails and i have no joy either
Sweet, thanks for that

Not sure about the other versions of this phone, but for the Vibrant (T-Mobile USA), if you go to Menu->Settings->Text-to-Speech, there is a setting called "Driving Mode" which automatically speaks all incoming texts and calls. It's a pretty nice feature

Removal of the DROOOOOOOOID Sound

If one is NOT rooted, is there a way to get the phone to stop saying DROOOOOOOOID at every turn (getting an email, plugging it into USB, etc).

goto your sound settings and change the notification to something else. You can set it to "none" if you don't want to hear anything.
why wouldnt you want it to say DROOOOOOID!?
the Droid sound is just a simple notification. Just change it within whatever application you'd like, or as someone above said change it in the settings

you sometimes get amazed by the lack of knowledge people has, even though they root or do other strange stuff on the android's..
Yes and No
Well - if there is any direct assistance that would be great because "Email Notification Sound ... NONE" is not anywhere to be found. I have found SETTINGS->SOUNDS->NOTIFICATIONS (one for ring tones and one for everything else). NONE is not a choice.
I have moved to K-9 (because stock Mail does not handle AOL, where my wife continues to keep her account), and K-9 does not have a setting either.
Regardless, any help is appreciated. As I am sure everyone here gets a lot of mail (spam or otherwise), imagine the phone screaming DROOOOOOID every time that happens.
Ideally, we would like the DROID 2 to have no sound notification on receipt of the K-9 email. Any steps are appreciated.

Re the posts - The DROID 2 is not mine and we have had it a whopping 36 hours. It is all set up except for the few problems I have posted. My post count is for the AT&T Tilt, and the HTC Incredible. Any help on the DROID 2 is appreciated.
Change it to something you find less annoying, or create a silent audio file and place it inside of your sounds/notifications folder
