Does this happen to your G2? All of a sudden, my connection stops working. Only way I can get it back on is by reseting the phone completely.
I tried switching to airplane mode and back but wouldn't detect connection. And I cant make any calls.

I also had this problem, and ended up requesting an exchange unit. The new one seems to have no problem with connection so I would recommend asking for an exchange.

Hi there, I am using a Bell Desire Z on Fido.
The 3G disconnects when GPS activates ... and other times too.
Most often when I use google Maps. But after restarting mobile network, it would keep working for a time.
I though that there might be a bug where the 3G needed to be restarted everytime it encountered a new cell tower but now I am not so sure.
Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Hmm... I have a G2 and never experience that problem. Well if your not rooted u should factory reset and see if that works... If you are prem-rooted and s-off u should flash a different rom that might work lol... sorry if am not to helpful

Hi yeah I am not rooted and it has been happening since I got my phone.
Could it be the APN settings? But it is not like I can't connect but more like I get kicked off.

Hmm... have you tried factory reseting the phone. Most of the times that fixes the issues on the phone. If that does not work try calling your customer care and tell them what's going on. They will reset your signal and if the issue persist you should get your phone replaced.

Somehow I deleted all APN settings but the APN name mcc and mnc and now it is stable.
Weird because I had just copied the APN settings from my milestone which worked fine.
I had tried that before but it was still unstable but I think I had left the user name and password in.

Can someone try sending an MMS over WIFI and let me know if your Shift switches to 3G and successfully sends the MMS. My Shift will stay on WIFI and the message just keeps trying to send and never gets sent. As soon as I shut off WIFI the message gets sent through 3G. This is whether I use the stock message app or Go Sms. I have rechecked every possible setting, removed battery, restarted, etc.

Thanks for trying it. Just to clarify... these are messages with a photo attached? In other words an MMS? It is my understanding that these types of messages must be sent via 1g or 3g. They cannot be sent via wifi.
Having the same issue here using GO SMS. Pictures would not send until I turned off WiFi. Don't have this issue with the EVO 4g.

Ha, funny you said that. I also have an Evo 4g and it also works flawlessly in that respect. Is this a known bug with the Shift? It's really annoying. I'm planning to wipe the phone later today and reload it. I wonder if I'll be wasting my time.
Yes, mms picture message. Had WiFi turned on. Sent without a problem.

Just to update... I did a factory reset and all is well now. Not sure what trashed it in the first place but a reload was the cure for me. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the info.
I been having some very weird problems with my hd2 recently, ever 5-10 minutes, I get no service message, and loose my cell connection, the only way to get it back is by selecting the network under settings. Now I've task29'd reflashed magldr, and various roms along with using another sim card same problems. Its not my network provider or sim as it works fine in another phone any ideas?

Could it possibly be that it's your SIM card? It's probably ran it's course. You should get a new SIM every 18 months or so.

I have the same connection issues with my HD2. It's been a problem for close to a year since i got the phone last April. I got used to it and thought it was normal. My Data connection drops often as well as my ability to make and receive phone calls.
About 6 weeks ago I called T-mobile and they had me do a factory reset with not luck, then they sent me to my local tmo store to pick up a new SIM card, still no luck.
Then T-mobile offerered to switch out my phone for a new one which i did and i still have the same issues. I called T-mobile back again to let them know that the problem is the same and they are sending me another phone.
My wife has a My Touch 3G and she rarely ever has a connection issue and never has a problem making a phone call.
The HD2 is a great device but the connection issues are a bummer.

Well see the thing is its fine in winmo and wp7 but not android

1. MMS stops working by itself, after factory reset starts working again. No settings are being changed.
2. Bluetooth connection to my car Audi Handfree is very unreliable and causes network connection to stall, no data and calls go straigh to voicemail.
3. Call waiting stoped working. Everytime i get a second call my primary call mutes and I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. By switching back and forth between callers I am able to hear first caller again.
All of these issues are solved by factory reseting the phone.
Does anyone have a clue why is this happening?
Using latest KE7 software.
I am on rogers and are having no issues with my phone that you are having... Maybe you got a bad phone?
Can you check if your mms messaging work?

On Rogers in Southwestern Ontario. I don't use MMS, so I don't have much experience with that.
I have used by SGS2 with BT Audio and calls on an Alpine KCE-400BT (Parrot unit rebranded as Alpine) and a Sony Xplod unit without any unusual behaviour
Haven't used call waiting other than by accident, no experience there either.
Hi I'm on Rogers is Windsor, I don't use MMS or bluetooth, but I use call waiting very often and not once as it messed up on me.
Anyone using Rogers having problems with digital call display? Whenever someone calls me it comes up as "unknown" but my account has digital call display on it.
I have seen name display work fine on my phone.it's a fantastic feature!

Anyone using Rogers having any data stalling/dropping issues? It seems like every time I go into an area with no signal (subway or elevator for example) it just doesn't seem to connect back onto the network fully. Even though it will say 3G, the data connection is actually dead and I usually have to wait a while or cycle airplane mode to get it back.
I'm using the KE4 radio. If you guys are having no problems, could you tell me which ROM and radio (baseband) you're using? Also, if fast dormancy is enabled or disabled? You can check with dialing *#9900#. Also, which APN you're using for data? Is it the internet.com one or the rogers-core-appl1.apn?

I just got a Bell SGS2 yesterday and rooted/unlocked it. I'm having 2 problems to date:
1) GPS cannot fix. I can be in view of 12 satellites, but it just won't fix.
2) My SMS timestamps are screwed up. Every message comes in with a stamp of 4 hours earlier.
Anyone else having these problems?
EDIT: Oddly enough, MMS works AND the timestamp is correct.

Instead of getting the Galaxy S2 unlock app from the market, get the Galaxy_S app. It'll crash the phone at step 2, but it'll be unlocked after it reboots!

I haven't had this problem with my SGS2, but I've had it with previous Android and Windows phones. It is a known bug.
Apparently the problem isn't present when using Handcent SMS (which is really good anyways) or you can use this program designed specifically to fix the problem.

Might be a dumb question, but did you check your APN settings? Maybe they got messed up somehow.

NTT works on completely different frequencies....there is no way it'd work here. If you want a phone that'd work in Japan then you'd need to buy one here and get a Softbank SIM card while in Japan.

Nvm got it working.
LG G2 WIFI Shuts off by itself after going to a stock rom ,tried all sorts of stock roms,my conclusion is that i have no phone service (dont want any) and the wifi is shut off somehow until I activate a sim card.My question is ,can I get the WIFI to stay on without activating service?Thanks for any replies.

Operating without a CIM shouldn't have anything to do do with the wifi. I also have a G2 with no CIM and don't have that issue.

I think the thing that determines if the phone has Data,wifi and bluetooth is called "provisioning" so somehow the phone is not that because if I look in its registry that word is a 0 and I think that means off.But the App I sued to look at this tells me I do not have permission to change the value.How can I fix this?The weird thing is if I turn airplane mode on let it sit and then turn it back on I can use wifi,it then will "allow" me to see the SSID's and I can connect..
What happens after a few minutes is the icon for wifi flashes on and off then its off again! LG must have a sernse of humour......
Before I ut back to another stock rom,it was working with no SIM card,but this phone was in service at one time. so I guess it was provisioned by Tmobile then.
Anyway to provision it on (not talking about stealing cell service)I just want to connect to My wifi.

Rooting the phone would probably allow you to change the value.

My G2 was also used with Tmobile, and as I said, it doesn't have that problem.

i've had a problem which prevented me from using WiFi and BT on my G2 as well, and i managed to fix it... however, your problem seems to be a different one, so i am not sure if i can help you...
just in case you might want to look at the summary of things i did:
