According to tmonews we have another ota update coming our way. Kinda strange since there not even done pushing out ji6 yet. Wonder what else this rom has besides tmobile tv?

The article just says that there will be an update for mobile tv, not a firmware update. Don't get too excited, just changing the name of an app.
No its an ota update. A new rom that includes tmobile tv. And excited? The only reason I would get excited would be for CM.

Is it just me or does this MobiTV just suck? Besides the $9.99/mo. fee, the quality of video is garbage. If it's on the small size it's half-way decent, but too small to watch comfortably. If you go full screen, its pixelated, blurry and choppy... even on WIFI. Certainly NOT worth $10/mo. for me! If i want to see The Office clips, I can catch it either on Hulu or my cable box on-demand. What a waste of an OTA update!
MobiTV + Root + TB= GONE!

The T-MobileTV app that is replacing it is said to have free content. Don't know if it's all free or what, certain websites are wording it differently.

No where in the Tmo screenshot does it say that this is a new ROM. It says in plain english "Vibrant customers will receive a notification to download T-Mobile TV, which will replace MobiTV."
Just because its coming OTA doesn't mean its a ROM.
I'm currently using T-Mobile TV on my Vibrant and it is pretty awesome. My girlfriend used it to watch an entire epsidode of Housewives while we were waiting for the bus so I guess that keeps her busy LOL. It is pretty clear and seamless over 3G and I think the quality improves over Wi-Fi.
Comes with a 30 day trial at first then $9.99/month after that. Certainly cheaper than cable service.
That's mobitv sir

However, the question is, will they announce when froyo will be be available?
BTW, the event starts at 6pm EST.

Hopefully, after tomorrow there will be a much wider selection. I haven't been brave enough to actually pony up to pay for anything yet but, I have been pretty impressed so far with the quality of the previews that I have watched..
Can't wait, I hope they confirm Froyo because the G2 is getting right out of the box, we should have gotten that too.

That's too bad. Tab's and another mobile devices are worthless without 3g. You're basically left with a machine that you can only use to it's fullest potential at a Starbucks or at home.
I'm officially starting to get worried about the froyo update. Samsung has had two major press events in the past two weeks and haven't even mentioned a word about froyo. I'm starting to think only the European/Korean models will get froyo.
^^I believe Samsung never promised the US phones to have Froyo in sept, just the different forums members did. The Euro Galaxy S is scheduled to get Froyo, NO ONE said the US versions will be getting it in September

Dude, Samsung and TMO have both said that we're getting Froyo... chill the hell out.
Why did you guys think this press release would be about their phones? Of course, you were probably thinking they would mention it somewhere in the press, but in actuality it was mostly about their Tab.
Go to this link: http://phandroid.com/2010/08/31/samsung-mobile-experience-event-september-16th-whats-being-shown/
And read what it said. "Latest Android device and media hub."
Just saying. That's all.

Couldn't we just tether our phone and the tab? With mobile ap or any other tethering app? I would think if it doesn't work that way there would be an app or hack that could make it possible...

Yes, I am aware of that. I was giving a solution to the person I quoted. Not to mention that engadget is reporting that the 3g versions will most likely be sold on contract, possibly meaning you may need a data plan. I'm suggesting (if it is possible), wait, let the reviews from actual 3g users come in, and then by the wifi tab cheaper and off contract...

Might not show up in the Apple market just yet, they're a little slow.

So she said i think i cant get a upgrade the the Iphone 4, so we log into he account(which takes about 3 min) her bill was 100 bucks and she had a 39.99 plan(i about pooped myself) but with all the additions(text, web, etc.) it brings her monthly bill up that high.

Um, hate to tell you, but HTC and T-Mobile have pretty clearly demonstrated their stance of Free Open Source Software. The whole idea of locking us out goes against the spirit of Linux and Open Source. They are taking the work of others, and using it to turn a profit, screw the user in the process.

give it time the vibrant is a nice phone no doubt but the g2 will have way more support for one being HTC and two being stock so being able to mod things for the g2 willsorta be how the nexus one is..which has great support who knows g2 might have 3.0 before samsung has 2.2 lol dont quot me either way you have a great phone
I understand, believe me. But I got this phone for its speed, which it def has, its support, being HTC, and the root ability, which is not here, yet at least. I need tether, bad. Hate to tell you, but the bug referenced is not a bug-as-in-a-hole-to-be-exploited. It's a bug in behavior, where changes to /system are thought to be successful by linux but actually aren't. Instead of getting a this-is-read-only error, the write appears to go through. And when the cache is flushed or when the phone is restarted it's apparent that nothing was written at all.
That said, work is still underway.

This op is one of the ones that got the OTA a few weeks ago. He never made it clear to anybody that it was a special test phone at that time (although he did state it didn't come from T-Mobile). This sent everyone into a tizzy thinking there was the possibility of an OTA for the masses being sent out.
That being said, I'd a pay a small premium for that phone over a standard G2. Risky as far as warranty goes, but that's true of anything you buy used I suppose.

Definitely not crippled. Everything works phenomenal.
I don't understand why this device is worth more, all it has is a test imei that allows for test otas. It's not like it's nand unlocked and can be broken into. No offense to the OP, but once we get the nand unlocked, people that root, won't be looking forward to OTAs, except for new releases of Android instead.

Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
What is DJ05? That's a terrific question...
Dj05 is an update from Verizon. The official one is not released yet. It is a fix for some features. Like the soft key backlight now stays on with the screen. It has a GPS fix and numerous other ones. The one You hear about is just a non official one.
As for the who.... that's not of your concern

The update is all over the place right now. I dont know why people are having a hard time finding it. And it boggles me why its not being posted in these forums.
But if higher-ups dont want it posted here thats the way its gotta be.
Either way look at it like this....this update will be out before 2.2...........so 2.2 is far off for us!!!
One line of the channel log from Verizon says its a preperation update for "2.2 due next year"

I read a post around the beginning of the DJ05 teases that amounted to, "if we released this on the forums, there would be an explosion of new 'My phone doesn't work!!' threads the next day". I believe it's not fully public here more for the protection of the end users and sanity of the devs than withholding goodies. The #Samsung-Fascinate channel of IRC is where the devs hang out to work out kinks, if you're interested in participating before broadcast release.

Learn to read lol he said he didnt work there. lol
as for the update... friend of mine that has it and it helping to test it for VZW has told me it will be another month or 2 for official release still far to "buggy", 2.2 that is....
on a side note i saw the new VZW Galaxy S LTE phone this weekend... its a prototype but freaking awsome!!!
the screen is crisper, has front facing camera, its a bit wider than the SF, but still very light. Comes with android 2.2 out of the box. from what i hear the data rates can be as good as 25M down and 8M up.
I must say that i was quite impressed with it...
unfortunatly i could not get a picture of it, my friend has alot of integrity.... sometimes thats a bad thing
