EVRC and 13k - Droid Incredible General

So I was messing around in EPST and I discovered that you can disable the EVRC mode which should make the phone use 13k and get better call quality. So I went ahead and disabled the EVRC and voila! No more static and much clearer sound quality. I haven't read this anywhere else so I thought I would share. Let me know if it works for you. Maybe I'm just imagining things. Ha ha

Very good reading. I guess I will have to try it out for a while and see what happens. I looked in my old HTC Touch Diamond (which had great call quality) and it was set the 13k.

I'm glad the reset worked! I was at a loss as to what happened! Never heard of that happening before.
Now the next question, does anyone know how to choose the compression rate? My pics always get compressed so small they look terrible.

+1 Compression rate is way to high. Anyone?
Wait im confuzed! Mine is stuck at 300kb max ughh

HTC has never really put a lot of stock in their cameras. The compression is horrible on HTC phones. I use an app called Camera 360. It allows you to set the compression, or to take pics with no compression.
File sizes are now around 2MB for each image and you can see a marked difference.
Give it a try. It's all I use now.
Lmfao... seriously? I have no idea what caused it dude. But I had to reset that sucker... so far so good.

Call recording on Vibrant

Galaxy S I9000 are now able to record the call directly by internal system without using speaker and mic. The recorded voice is clear for both side.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863074
Anyone already tried this technique on our Vibrant?
Dunno if its possible on the vibrant but even if it was we would need an app that's coded for it. Right now it seems all the recording apps require mic+speakerphone.

I use the app called "Call Recorder" and have had great success with recording conversations without the use of speakerphone during the call. I recorded a sample of me calling my cell phone from my home phone. The recording quality is good enough that you can hear the caller's dialogue, and your voice will be crystal clear because it's recorded through our phone's microphone.

Check it out for yourself!

You're welcome man! I'm glad that someone finally believed me when I told them that the sound quality wasn't really bad at all.
Let me know how you make out with it!

Which ROM are you running? More info on your set up? I am running MikG and under Sound Settings there is an option called "Flip for Speaker" which allows "your phone to activate the speaker during calls."
i guess your talking to me thats cool. found that link just incase you wanted to take a look at it.

He told you how to fix it.
I guess I can't blame you, the attitude of some around here when you ask a question can make you defensive.

recording voice calls

I need a way to record voice calls, both lines. I have looked into some apps that don't work so well, so i need your help.
I have never had much success with these types of apps. The best one that recorded both sides of the conversation breaks Bluetooth which is a deal breaker for me.

That it does sir but I tried it not too long ago and it didn't seem to work either. But that was a few releases ago so maybe it has changed.

That's how I do it. I open up voice recorder & put call on Speaker & record call.
i honestly dont remember i tried several apps from the market, i could look to see if any of them look familiar but i move through so much stuff i cant say for suer which one it was. plus i use cm7 and this could have played a role what worked and how well it worked. sorry!!
I use CallRecorder from the market and Lithid's Freedom v8.5 kernel. Works great. I get both sides and I don't have to be on speaker phone.
Google voice, press #4 when the call connects. The best I have used.

Touchless-control calls should use loudspeaker

What do you think?
I mean, if I'm using touchless, it probably means my hands are busy, so doesn't it make sense that when I ask my phone to call someone, the call by default is on loudspeaker. To me, it doesn't make any sense to ask the phone to call, and then still use your hands to either touch the loudspeaker button, or to grab it and speak regularly.

I am unsure of the point you are making. Regarding the loudspeaker being set to on by default there is an option to toggle the loudspeaker to off in Touchless Control settings. For them to have you speak a command to toggle on Touchless control would be overdoing it. I think that the phone you want is about 3-4 years away. I do not see why you would want to speak a command to toggle on or off the loudspeaker, it would confuse the other party.

Idiot here, please close this and carry on :silly:

Make sure you update to the latest version in the play store. I don't think that feature was there before the update.

So THAT'S why I hadn't seen it the first time!
But wait a minute... the loudspeaker is now on for EVERY call! So instead of having to turn it on every time I use touchless, now I have to run it off every time I don't? Well... still better than the previous scenario... at least now I have an actual hand available to turn it off... but still, isn't it just really logic that I'd like to place a call through the earpiece when using the phone in a normal way, and have the hands-free thing work when I'm using touchless?

Just wondering, does the touchless voice control work with bluetooth?? Will it always be listening through the headset? Or will the phone still take the command directly and just relay the call to the bluetooth?

Yes it does. You can still use the "okay google now" and talk to the phone, or you can push the button on your headset, and give your command to the phone, without saying "okay Google Now".
The update I just downloaded from Google play has the option to use speakerphone
