I think its time to make more forums.
The one we got now is start getting very cluttered.
We should need this ones.

Software development
Request\bounty
Faq and guides

Samsung original firmware
This would make this place alot better for all.

Why not just sticky the original firmwares in your "ROM Development" instead of making a new sub-forum? Organizing information is fine but spreading it could lead to problems.

Many do upgrading to original firmware and have big problem with that.
Even future\beta firmware would fitting here.
The development areas should only be for people the do development and Samsung should have there own area.
This will make it easyer to read and i hope it will be easyer to get help.
Now people make tread after tread with same things.
Its to hard for dome people to know where to look or write.

No, the problem now is that we have a "Development" General with no sub-forums at all making posts of all kind (ROMs, kernel, bounty, etc) and it gets cluttered.

Yes. Duplication is a problem and the main reasons for that is people don't search and to find it in the different forum is to hard.
To make more forum and make them more clearly what they are would make that problem less.

For eg... Im looking for official samsung firmware under the "Development thread".... Its just a mix full of stuff from customs roms to leaks and patches..
Also some of the guides would be useful with pics for noobs...

yes this is what i did see to when i got here first.
Its not easy now either.
I hope some mod will se this and comment on it if its possibly to change some to the better.
Actually, yes, between moving all the mis-placed threads and such, AllGamer and I have been discussing the best way to keep the important information accessible, while still keeping the dev section as tidy as possible. We're looking at combining similar types of posts into single sticky threads (i.e. all "how-to's" referenced in one thread, all "reference" materials in another, and so on). However, this still wouldn't keep the threads that are referenced from all floating to the top of the forum anyway just from the normal activity in them, so we may still need to find a different way to handle them.
But, the bottom line here is that we are definitely aware of this headache for everybody, and are working on finding the best way to organize it.
Sound good.
I know how much pain this can be.
But i feel something must be done fast.
I can help out if you want.
The structure i wrote earlier is just one thought. Is you can have more sub level it can be better.
One problem is when people post in wrong section. That will always happen. But if it more clear what the different section are then it will be less.
And i think it should only be 1 sticky on a forum. There you can route to other forum on different task. That would help to.

Hello!
Currently I am using JM9+ Raspdeep OC/UV kernel with Voodoo b4 support and I believe this is the max option for Eclair.
Would you be kind to suggest me the best possible option for step ahead to Froyo? Which ROM, Custom Rom and Kernel are best in work together?
Which LagFix, and Kernel are best for Froyo?
JPO+SO_zImage_opt_ext_root_JPM-JP6_V3_6??maybe
pointless
IMHO, useless thread ... every Rom as its advantages and disadvantages. It's really up to personal taste to choose the best one.
Sorry the comment, I know its a open forum and people have the right to express them selfs yada yada yada... but can't help stop noticing the amount of garbage hanging around this forum, making it difficult to find useful stuff .
And - off record, but on topic anyway - people, learn how to search pleeaaasseee... It's really annoying read threads with 1001 questions about the same subject, which results on 2002 posts if someone cares to help. You are only making it more hard to find yourself the answers!!
I agree with lunasea... Pure personal taste... Some ROMs have the GPS issues partially fixed, others are more stable, others have stuff which we don't use or need. Depends from person to person...
As far as lag fixes are concerned, that too depends on user. Almost all lag-fixes are amazing and the xda-devs have done a brilliant job in all of them, so it is really unfair to say even one of them is bad... they are all good. It depends on perception and the feel of the phone in your hands. Enjoy ur phone!!!
your mum is the best custom rom i mean have a go at DOC'S ROM.
Just IMHO,
If you want barebones + modular get Doc's v7.5 ROM.

Not trying to be rude, as I stated theres no such thing as best rom. As overwhelming it might seem, there's no other option than try it yourself.
Nevertheless I can give you this hint: most active threads usually means more users, meaning more testing and more stable and support from rom cooker [EDIT... lmao].
So start trying roms that are on 1st and 2nd page of the forum.

General section specifically.
There's the Nero v4 add on's and what-not.
Why not organize them and put them all into 1 sticky like they did on some other sections?
im pretty sure the "understanding samsung's firmware numbers" doesn't need to be stickied, yes it super interesting, but it doesn't need to be stickied.
Half the first page is with stickies....
I agree, we should erase the Nero v4 addons thread, the tmobile whine thread, the thread deletion thread, and the Samsung's version numbers thread.

I'll gladly add links to most of these threads to the General Sticky, I don't want to insult/upset anyone though.
If you search through the nexus one forums (I had before I traded it), nothing except for noob guides and posting guidelines are stickied.
Samsung Version Numbers?: This is XDA!
Tmobile whine threads: We got froyo already.
GPS hardware fix: use the search bar
Why threads are deleted: again how to post thread
Nero v4 addons: themes and apps and search bar, and Nero v4 is outdated
Why not make 1 thread called STICKIES and put all of these in there?
As someone who TRIES to keep his sticky updated, I would hate to have to go to a stick thread, click a link and then edit mine because the General Sticky (mine) would go to the bottom since it's not posted in too much.
Good idea, but I would not prefer that personally.
I offered to link to some of these, but until a mod tells me their going to be un-stickied, no real point. And again, I am not trying to insult/annoy someone.
Ugh god the stickies truly are annoying, especially when you are using the browser on your phone to visit xda and half the first page is all stickies.
why the heck are samsung version numbers posted as a sticky?

half the first page in general is 15 (total= 30) thread; stickies is 8 thread's.
But, I promise, with your help and this thread, reshape not only generally, but the developers section.
First, I'll edit my thread sticked to:
This section's main thread!
And I'll put the link of the thread's that are sticky
Amended ....
please put your suggestion here of threads and formatting of this topic:
Main discussion lists in the General section
Removed other sticky threads!
While I appreciate and agree there were too many stickies, I am a bit upset that mine is now in a link nobody is going to click on....
Perhaps there are not many new people who need my general sticky, but I know if there are, they certainly are going to have a harder time finding it.

Do u think you could put the guides thread back as sticky? That thread is the most informative and useful in all of vibrant section, and has helped many newbies me included.
I would like to request that you have all of your thread titles standardized if you are offering a ROM.
A good template would be:
[ROM](ANDROID_VERSION)-(UPDATED_LAST) Name (Version number etc)
ex:
[ROM](2.3.3)-(03/31/2011) CyanogenMod 7 for Vibrant.
&
[ROM](2.2)-(04/03/2011) Trigger v2.9.2 / EDT
or something to this affect. it's confusing looking around with all of the rom version numbers being mistaken for android version numbers. Also, it's nice to see when something was updated without having to see the entire thread.
It's already pretty much like this..
there are only 2 2.2 roms, Trigger & Bionix
there is 1 gingerbread rom (cm7)
and there are 9999999 2.2.1 ROMs
dates are almost always in the topic title anyways...
that's just being nitpicky.. speaking of which, this is posted in the wrong section.
ironically, you just posted an extra thread that contraindicates your cleanup suggestion.

Posted it where it would be read by the correct people. Less cleanup, more organisation of ROMs.
To other responder, two things: you're wrong (i.e. there are two Gingerbread ROMs for the Vibrant: CM7, MIUI), and even if that were true, not everybody knows which ROM is which all of the time. This would make things easier for users who don't view the forum every day and don't keep up with every ROM.

Im referring to the fact that there now seems to be topics that seem to be unnecessarily stickied.
Why do we need 5 kernels to be stickied? We could have a single sticky with links to important kernels in there. There just isn't any need for all these on same page.

No matter what you sticky and what you don't, there will be people saying it should be otherwise.
As with most things in life, It is what it is, live with it, or if it matters so much (and your angry response suggests it annoys you quite a bit) then work at becoming an admin and then you can decide what should and shouldn't be stickied, just like this forums mod and the winmo dev section mod decided on the current sticky list.

Just cos you don't have a use for a sticky doesn't mean someone else doesn't either.
maybe this forums mod is playing with kernels and wanted them all handy? His / her prerogative to sticky them if (s)he wants.
I agree, too many stickies. When using a browser I have to scroll half way down the screen before I can actually see new and active topics. It's not so bad on tapatalk.
One sticky with a link to the various kernels would suffice, right now it just looks messy imho.
Lets not end up with a fight again, at the end, someone will get banned..
I agree, way to many stickies....
I agree that there are too many stickies.
The NAND forum is pretty old now, and there's a wealth of information kinda scattered about.
It does seem that it's time for some housekeeping, it would be nice to have the most frequently needed info re-organized into a few sticky threads that have links to their related resources.
One of the big reasons we have so many 'Please help me I'm a noob' threads is because new members are overwhelmed by the tons of info that is there to help them, but so hard to navigate that they give in and ask for help.
(I know they should use the search function, you know it, but they're panicking because their phone is bricked and they can't think of the correct keyword for the life of them.)
It doesn't seem so disorganized to the experienced members because we've been here forever and are just used to it.
You go into a hoarder's house and ask where the toilet paper is, and they tell you 'Duh it's in the foyer where it's always been'.
If it is ultimately decided that any of the HD2's fora need to be re-organized, I don't mind with helping out.
At least the xda app separates the stickies on to a separate tab. I've been using it more and more now
Made a compilation thread

Having important dev topics stickied is greatly important to the ongoing development of android on the hd2.

Lol. I was actually thinking of perhaps making this Kernel Sticky. Today would be good day to start too as I have a good amount of free time. Something else I've been thinking of is making a new version of the Vibrant Bible that could have a more detailed kernel section... Since the other two Bibles are both not maintained and even became unstickied. But I don't know. What do you think? Should I look into making a newer Vibrant Bible or a Kernel Sticky?

Yes this is a great idea, let me know if you need help. Especially with the bible there are probably 20+ ROMS that are not even on that bible, maybe you can list the issues wth each particular ROM in the bible as well, this would help direct NOOBS even better!
Sounds good. However, before I begin to put it together I feel it would only be the right thing to contact the original Vibrant Bible creator and ask permission to develop a new, more detailed Bible, with an updated list of kernels and roms.
I think thats a great idea as well, maybe you could just type something up and submit it him//her and see if they want to add it to the bible?
Why don't you guys look over the Wiki and update that instead. That way we are not at the mercy of the moderators to make things sticky. And we can update it as we go. I tried keeping it up a while back but it is a daunting task without the support of the developers to help keep their part updated.
