Guys,
Big question here:
How can we use Tasker to detect the Cell phone Provider Name ?
Is there a variable available?
This would allow me to disable data connections when I'm on an expensive data carier
?
Nobody ? -
A quick google revealed a couple of plugins to Locale, that can be used in Tasker, that could help. I have not tested them as I do not use Tasker, or Locale.
Locale Phone State Plug-in: w w w.appbrain.com/app/locale-phone-state-plug-in/com.androgone.locale.phonestate
Locale CarrierID Plug-in: w w w.appbrain.com/app/locale-carrierid-plug-in/com.schmeisserweb.carrierstring
Hi epro,
I use Tasker but couldn't find the CarrierID plugin after installing it. What makes you sure it can be used in Tasker?

Hi out there,
searching for a while now. Found nothing, but CommMgrPro which is way to much.
I search for a simple software to automatically disable GPRS/UMTS data while roaming and enable it back when logged into my provider again.
Would be nice to have more than one "home" provider.
Any hints? Thanks and happy holidays.
the simplest way is change your mobile while roaming
i was surprised that my htc touchpro activate
data communication automatically while i
had disactivated data com before.
Modaco NoData
Thanks. At least a simple way to enable and disable.
My problem is that i live close to the boarder (germany/france) and that i flip into roaming here really fast.
An automatic solution is needed very urgend.
Locking to my provider is ok, but the htc asks me what provider to join, when back.
All that sucks.
I cant believe that there is no solution.
Is CommMgrPro able to handle that?
Nobody?
Nobody else who got this problem and nobody who got a solution?
Is CommMgrPro able to handle that? The documentation is bad.

Maybe you can PM danielherrero.
He's the creator of CommMgrPro.
I am very interested in this as well - and from my searching seems a lot of others would be interested in an automated system.
My network provider automatically roams to another specific provider when in a non-coverage area (small pockets within metro areas and rural). The problem is that the data cost when roaming is ridiculous. I use Push Email for work and while on roaming want GPRS access to be disabled until I am connected back with my provider.
I've installed NoData by MoDaCo which is good but this requires the user to remember to enable/disable GPRS.
*EDIT*
I found exactly what I needed after a more searching - Wombat's PhoneRoam Script (Stay Connected to High Speed Networks Only). Will see whether it does the job

I agree to have more that only one network provider. Here in Belgium we can subscribe to Vodafone passport that enable to use "free" of charge the data on any Vodafone network, but when I go in France it switch to other provider and in that case my push mail is expensive... I'm also in the boarder of France.
So basicaly :
1/ A very very simple prg that disable the data automatically if roaming.
2/ A version 2 that would put all permited network provider even if roaming.
Thanks
This thing exists for the iPhone. Its a simple switch in the interface.
You can select "Data-Roaming" on/off, thats all.
Where is it in WM?

Modaco is fine but when you are at the border is quite difficult to follow your carrier and disable data time by time...or even remember you are switching to another country after few km and you always have one app trying to connect (Tomtom, weather, opening a mail...)
Modaco it's what I use actually but let me forget stressing an unwanted roaming data connection...
a+
Used NoData and application is still able to connect...
Hi,
I switched off all data connections in the registry (using frost Advanced Config, than also tried NoData) and in general windows mobile apps aren't able to connect... but I have a one third party application, which is somehow able to ignore that and connect even when the data connection is toggled to DISABLED...
Any ideas how to REALLY disable data connections (for roaming)...
here is the automatic solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503131
this will automatically disable ALL data in roaming and re-enable under home provider without any user configuration - nothing to toggle
Hello,
I search all the forum an issue to my problem. I've set my default data connexion to Orange Entreprises in the advanced setting of the network parameters. I've made a little scripts that ask me to choose which connexion I want to launch to go on the web. But, if the connexion I choose is different the default connexion set in the advanced setting of the network parameters, the initiale connexion is cut and the default is launch.
So my script is useless... I look for the registry key that define the default connexion in the advanced setting of the network parameters.
It could be in HLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF09F4C-....}\
But what the signification of the key beginning with HTTP-{XXX}? There is a inside key call Enable = 1 which, I think, could define the default connexion. I find the SrcId of only a few profil connexion...
To test, I switch the connexion and the last HTTP-{XXX} disapear for a new HTTP-{YYY} with the key Enable = 1. I tried with a third connexion profil and the HTTP-{YYY} don't disapear but the enable key move to 0... and the HTTP-{ZZZ} enable key is now to 1... Why do I not find all my SrcId profil here si I've juste to modifie the enable value to set the default connexion???
Please could someone help me by giving me some informations on these subtilities (or a better simple way to do what I'm looking for).
Thanking you in advance, I can give you all the informations I have to help.
Maybe I'm posting in the wrong section???
Apparently it's imposible to do what i'm looking for... No idea?
I'm on a new way... Is it possible to change the proxy setting of a data mobile connexion via the registry?
You need to use XML provisioning for configuring connection manager, a complete reference is available here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa456228.aspx
What you are trying to achieve is described here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms889544.aspx
Thnak You Very much...
Apparently it's hard to do. Can Mortscrip use Windows Mobile API...
Could someone help me to use the XML provisioning...
I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to do that?
as above.. i dont want some google maps or weather refresh to kill my wallet !!
any program or tweak to totally disappear data no matter how often programs call for it?
much appreciated
Search this forum for an application called NoData.
Airplane mode?
Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503131
Airplane mode disables everything
oh...since im using prepaid services, is it a must to install the nodata tweaks?
aren't there any data on/off selection under the default settings on the phone?
that is to say, if i did not off the data connections, the phone will automatically engage gprs or sort to update weather and maps which will in turn kill all the credits in my prepaid without me realizing? that's scary...
bsb tweaks let's you disable data connections. Just tried it and when trying to establish a connection it gives me an error telling me it's not possible to go online.
so the tweaks works in another words? i will only be using wifi to go online with hd2..
Hi All,
I am using HTC TD2 with latest Stock ROM 6.5.3. And I want to Disable GPRS/Data and Have WiFi on Demand ONLY.
I know we have many tools to achive this like: "NoData" and "TD2 Tools". But I do not want to use these Tools and set the setting of my own. These are good tools But...
NoData will disable Data/GPRS, but Can't make WiFi on demand. When the TD2 Tool can do both (or can give me what I want), but I do not want use this tool ONLY for this SINGLE purpose (I am not using other services of this tool).
So This is how I want:
I disable the data connection by Settings -> Connections -> Advanced and select "My Work Network" instead of GPRS/Internet connection. So this prevents me to use the GPRS Connection.
Now the Other One:
Can one of you suggest how should I edit the settings of the "My Work Network" to use WiFi when demand? Or is there any Registry edit that will make WiFi on Demand instead of Connect when phone is used
PS: The WiFi Ondeamnd feature was existed in the OLD 6.5 ROMs, but now Missing in 6.5.3 .
I had this POST @ TD2 forum, but no reply, so posting here to get some help .
Thanks.

I use two SIM cards (different provider) in my OnePlus 5.
I can change which provider will be used for mobile data in "Sim & Networks -> Mobile data" and it works as it should.
But it is annoying to do this many times a day because each provider has its pros and cons locations
How can I automate this based on location? I spend some minutes in Tasker, but I didn't find mentioned setting.

Be patient, not everybody reads every day, there's a life outside of xda for everyone
Can't believe
Here I go again ...
I tried with Tasker and I create a task where I use "Settings -> Custom Settings -> Find" and showed Tasker a provider change. Tasker recognized it and saved that in a task. So far so good.
But if I run a task (manually or with profile), a value in a dialog is changed, but the provider isn't changed. After the task, I tried with (manually) disable/enable mobile connection, but it also didn't help. Phone still uses an old provider.
But if I open dialog and just press again on (already correctly selected provider from Tasker), the phone will change the provider.
Any idea? Should I do something more to tell the phone that value in a dialog is changed?
