Well my biggest problem is Voice Command. When I am in the car, or the supermarket it works fine and understands my commands.
However the minute i step outside with even moderate winds it doesn't respond at all...which means that it isn't anywhere near recognizing (or hearing) what I am saying.
I'm glad the motopure h12 works for you, but people said the same thing about the jawbone and z9...that they used theirs in increible noisy environments, or in their convertible and had no issues.
Unfortunately, I don't see the h12 for sale at any big-box stores, and I'm not willing to pay 2-way shipping just to try it out.
With the spring upon us, I will be outside more often. We all know it is difficult to see the screen in sunlight, so I find using MSVC to dial my calls is a must. Are you using MSVC with your H12? If you have the opportunity to try it out and see if it still picks up your commands while speeding down in your jeep, I would be interested to know...

I know about magnetic USB... but I wonder how they will be implementing this? Are they providing a plate or something to lay the headset on to charge inductively?

I am going to give it a try as I have been very dissappointed with my Jabra BT8040. I never have been able to get it to stay in my ear. I need one with an ear loop.

Works better than the old JB. As for the magnetic coupling, what it is, is a usb connector, which plugs into the AC adapter, or a usb port. On the other end, is the plug that hooks to the jawbone. Inside the connector, in the middle, are the
4 contacts to charge it. On either side of that, are two tiny squares, which are magnetic. The end of the jawbone has a piece of metal on the inside, which holds the charger connector on the jawbone.
Here's a cell phone photo, should help.

Thanks...that's kind of a rip off though. It looks no different than any other type of charging cradle except instead of being held in place by plastic nibs or something it is being held by a magnet.
When I think of magnetic USB, I think of those new charging mats that they have whereby you place a device with a special outer casing and it sticks to the mat and charges through induction.
I could have my terms wrong...but that's what I was expecting.

If you've ever been in a best buy, and have seen one of the mac laptops with the power adapter, appears they got the idea from something like that I guess.
I know I like the new one better. I popped the cap on my old jawbone, but a tiny drop of super glue fixed that

I just sold my Z9 on ebay after reading some other reviews where others agreed that it just didn't perform in any wind.
I have an extra cardio scala-800 I am going to unbox and use until I decide if I want the motopure, z9i, or new jawbone.

I really detest these proprietary connectors.
As far as I am concerned, any device should be able to use a mini-usb connector, or it very small, a micro-usb connector.
Almost every single device out there can be charged off a laptop, which means they all take USB current input (5v). For those that take less, a universal charger could provide voltage regulation, but the form factor can still remain mini/micro usb.
If a device is so small that micro USB connector won't fit, then I probably don't want it as it would be too easy to lose. I'm sure by the time they make a BT headset that fits in your ear canal induction based charging will be more widespread.
This grudge isn't just against phones and BT headsets, it is one reason I will never buy an ipod.
Unless the new z9 or the H12 (haven't investigated yet) is also using proprietary (and thus I am out of options), I don't think I will be buying the new Jawbone.

Haha, exactly what I did to fix mine!

Just got my jawbone 2 and I have to say this is the best headset I've used. Coming from a Plantronics Discovery 655. Works perfectly with Voice Command. I thought the lack of buttons was going to be a problem, but I got used to it quick.
However, it is really pricey. I ended up paying $140 direct from jawbone after tax and shipping. Hopefully once online shops starts stocking these the price will come down.

Donny, if by Voice Command you mean MS Voice Command, would you be able to do some tests in a windy environment for me? I don't think rolling with the windows down suffices, because that really just creates noise, not really wind.
I'm in chicago, so I don't really need to simulate but maybe a blow dryer or something if you can't find any natural wind?
When i use my Z9 outside MSVC doesn't even register that I've said anything.
I'm going to wait until the Z9i until i make my next decision, as I would rather have the micro-usb charging, and I honestly think I prefer the look of the blueant. However, if the wind-cancellation/noise-suppression is far superior on the JB, I may go with that.
Also, in the below pic, what is the little clear plastic nub on the tip for?

...but the description describes it as having "snap shut closure..."
Looks like a band of elastic that wraps around it to keep it shut...
If this had magnets, or real snaps or...something else, it might be a contender...I'm not a fan of elastic...wears out way too fast.

I think what you are seeing as "elastic bands" are the grooves in the case for the edge of the tablet to set in.
I will be very eager to hear from someone who gets this case to find out:
1. How it"snaps shut"?
2. If the flap opens all the way to the back?
3. How well the tablet stays in the case?

I purchased this from Ebay a week ago. When it comes I will post pics and give my thoughts on it. Should arrive next week. Woot!!

IMHO, it looks like one of the best cases out there.

Having gone to where the original object was posted and downloaded the picture, I saw a swelling on the "upper corner" of the cover that could really only be a couple of things...
Given the lack of anything else that might be considered a candidate for some sort of closure, I figured it to be elastic...
Looking forward to seeing the confirmation in other people's pictures...I still may get it and modify it to my liking. Seems like the closest yet. I do wish it had some other type of closure...
P.S. I love the simplicity of the TPU "snapon" case I have now - seems to offer more corner / edge protection should I mishandle it.
I may buy another TPU case and add / modify it with portions of this case. now THAT would be cool...

Top half of the circle above Acer logo is part of tablet case while the bottom half is use as the backstand. ( it is bendable at that part/or separate.... see the joint lines in pic #1 )
the Jeans snap shut button could either be on the top half or the lower half circle... served the same purpose.
Together, they combined to becomes a portfolio case

I received mine today, which I ordered last week from fintie.com. It looks exactly like the pictures on ebay or the fintie.com so I am not going to post any pictures. I also have a blurex slim case (same thing with roocase slim) and quality wise it is not as good as blurex, and it has one less indentation thingies in the case that serve as a stopper for different angels, but it stays fine even if you don put the table directly into those indentations.
Build quality is ok, not great but ok. Unfortunately just like in the pictures it has an elastic strap as a closure instead of a magnetic flap or a hard leather part like in blurex case. I am not sure if it wears out or becomes lose quickly, only the time will tell.
Swivel mechanism works fine, and it is a lot easier to remove the tablet from the case, if you are doing that constantly. The part that your tablet sits in is plastic, the rest is fake leather. It is slightly thinner than the blurex slim case, mainly due to less padding on the flap.
Removing the plastic case from the swivel mechanism and flap is NOT easy at all, and would probably break the notches on the swivel eventually.
Both sides are open like the blurex case, so this is not designed to protect your tablet if you drop it sideways, but more for to protect it from daily wear and tear and carrying in a bag, etc.
All in all I am happy with it and would buy it again, since I really wanted something that swivels for reading comics in portrait mode.

Looking forward to pictures as well, was wanting a case like this since I read mangas and also browse ebay in portiat mode.

I just Googled "iconia a500 rotating case" and found another vendor for this item and bought it for about $19 total. (Same item but $10 cheaper than the two vendors on Amazon; in fact this vendor is through amazonwebstore.) I'll try to remember to post back here after I get to play with it for a couple of days.

I received the case yesterday, so shipment from the vendor I used was quick enough for me. The case looks just as it does in pictures posted in this thread already, so I won't add more.
The thickness of the case material seems like it will protect the tablet very well from abrasion damage. As for impact damage, dropping small/light things onto the case shouldn't damage the tablet inside--or even dropping the tablet itself onto a hard floor unless the tablet lands right on a corner as the sides are exposed. (Even then, the case will protect it a little bit as it does extend over the edges of the Iconia a little.)
When the case is open, access is unobstructed to all buttons and ports except, of course, the docking port. When the case is closed, the elastic band covers the camera and the headphone port. I can't imagine anyone trying to take pictures with the Iconia closed in the case, but blockage of the headphone port could be a problem for people who want to close the case securely with the elastic band and listen to music through wired headphones at the same time.
There are two preset angles in this case. Using the trusty eyeballing method, one is 50 deg and the other is 65 deg. There is enough friction to set the tablet at any angle between there and not much give to set beyond.
The rotation works as advertised and is the reason why I got this particular case. I spent $19 on it and feel it's a good value. If you find a deal on this case for $10-$15, then you shouldn't even hesitate.

So, lets look at this, 9 million devices pre-ordered, god only knows how many others sold, already. 1 in 9 million catches fire and melts, and all of a sudden Samsung has gone completely wrong?

If you bothered looking up the other discussion thread and the original photos of the damaged phone, you'd soon see that the battery is one of the few components it could NOT have been.

i hope that fake picture does work it's magic like it was supposed to.
so guys, please watch those pictures closely. it' is claimed that the phone melted by itself, right ? so this means the heat source has to be inside of the phone. if you burn something from the outside with a lighter for example you will get black marks on the item where you hold the lighter to and not so dark black marks on the areas around it.
so when this phone did melt because of an very high internal heat source, why is the most black part of the phone on the outside and the less black marks further away from the phones border?
in addition to that just look at a picture of the disassembly of the phone and where the heat source would have needed to be, if it melted because of inner parts of the phone. (keep in mind it's still BS because the marks that are visible on the phone point to someone using external heat.)
at the point of the black marks is only a screw hole (left to the microusb port), so do you really think the holding of a screw or a screw itself would magically heaten up to such an extent?
if you check the other ifixit-teardown pictures you clearly see that apart from that metallic holding for a screw there is not even a chip where the supposed melt down occured. surely the creater of this fake picture wants to make you believe that the empty space did heat up so much that it melted, lol
i don't want to point fingers here, but it is extremely telling how much energy some people spend just to convince others that the galaxy s3 is crap and their phone (most of the cases the one x) is better. there is no reasonable explanation for those people other than psychological deficit which leads them to spend unusual amounts of energy to worsen samsungs reputation or justify their own choice of another phone. a healthy human being would just not care about other phones. if you are satisfied with your own decision you are at ease and would not even try to point fingers at others and how the others are (allegedly) worse.
the fact that samsung said "it nows of that case" is the standard call center reply, to let the customers think that "everything is in check". just think what the feel of the customer was, when the support tells him "hey, we never heard of such a thing and have no clue what to do".

If you actually check iFixit yourself as you suggested and check the back of the board at the same position you will notice that the bottom capacitive microphone is in exactly that position, and since it is a type of capacitor, it can blow up like that. Stop with your consipiracy bull****, malfunctions happen and this is just another of them, although a weird one. It had nothing to do with the battery or any other of the more complex components.

Adapter mod
Take a pair of pliers and carefully twist the pins to match an Australian plug.
The pins are usually quite soft.
The secret is to grab them right up near the plastic before twisting them.
If you do it right the plug with fit in fully flush with the powerpoint.
I did my Nexus 10 adapter no problems (exactly the same as the one in your photo,and shown below).
I've done it with over 10 different chargers-adapters over the years and never had any issues at all,as long as the transformer is dual voltage (120v - 240v)
I don't like the adapters,they make the adapter too long and look dodgey.

Mine came with a converter. I'm trying to get away from using it as it is too bulky.

This was my last resort. I have done many in the past with this method. But I failed once (because the plastic around the metal, for the cheap adapter i a had, cracked), But I think I will have to do the twist method. I cannot find anyone online selling just the au style prong.

Please dont ever recommend to someone to just "bend stuff till it fits" when dealing with electricity. While it may work out much of the time, someone reading and in a different voltage region of the world could have terrible things happen to their device, or it could cause other issues with someone being electrocuted and such. Its just a bad idea.
These power adapters should be the same between a lot of Samsung devices. I know my Galaxy Tab 2 has the exact same adapter as the Nexus 10. Most likely you could buy an Australian power adapter for a Samsung tablet (since these are all 2A output) or possibly a Samsung phone and get exactly what you need.

I wasn't saying for anybody to just go bending the pins on any power adapter,I was saying it is quite safe to do it with this particular one.
In my opinion doing it this way is safer than using one of those cheap dual voltage adapters.
I'm an electrician by trade,I would not do this if it was anywhere near dangerous.
Regarding using another charger from a different Samsung device,that is more dangerous than doing the pin bend mod if the Milliamp rating is not the same (which you don't seem to mention).

lol. I did see that, I even left it in the quote. But lots of people have no idea about voltage and such and your advice *could* seriously hurt someone who has no clue what they are doing. These "cheap dual voltage adapters" at least pass certification and are sold by someone who accepts responsibility for their design. You are just throwing advice out to modify electronics until they fit. I too am an electrician, and maybe we just do things differently in my part of the world but the way things are designed is for a reason and there is such a thing called "electrical code" where I come from. Maybe in your part of the world you can get away with "just bending stuff" but that kind of advice would get you either a massive fine or thrown in jail here. But whatever, people can do what they want. I was just trying to voice some sanity to this very bad advice.

I'm not modifying any electronics,I just bent a couple of conductors to make them fit,there is a big difference.
There is nothing electronic in the adapter,it is just 2 conductors in a bit of plastic,nothing complicated here.
We have something in my part of the world called common sense.
So if you accidently bend one of your pins on one of your own power plugs do you throw it away?
Because straightening it again will weaken it and this will be bad in the eyes of the powers that be that will throw you in jail or give you a massive fine.
Like I said,this simple mod is safer than telling people to use any Samsung charger on their device without checking it's rating as you did.
So before you go picking at other peoples advice,maybe you should check your own.
Anyway,i'm not here to argue with you,I was just giving my input to help out the OP.
He can either take it or leave it,the same as anyone else reading it can.

I actually like the USB charging cable, wish it longer in length though. A bit short and just long enough to put it on my desk. I like how the package was uniformly red

I actually like it too, just wish it was longer also. Yeah, the entire box and packaging is nice!
How are your liking the phone overall? I like the hardware, and the software too tho I think overall it needs some polishing.

Have to agree on the cable; the S III cable was a 3ft cable, so i abused it...now I'm like a good dog on a short leash.

And it looks like the USB cable that OnePlus supplied makes the phone charge faster too otherwise I would use one of my USB cables from prior phones. Although I should really run my own GSam test and test it for myself using previous cables to see if I'd come up with the same results

If they included Beats by Dre headphones it would make the package even better. Although, I don't really like Beats by Dre headphones since I personally find them to be expensive and not worth paying for with the audio quality it produces. I can definitely say that it would look really nice with the rest of the red though.
I love the phone, I have the yellow tint here and there on the bottom but its not that bad and not really noticeable. Feels good in the hand, using the Diztronic TPU case right now. Not as nice as the sandstone but still very nice to hold in the hands and I love the fact how the case hides the chrome bezels to make OPO a purely black phone. Battery life is so amazing on this phone.
My one complaint is that the phone is pretty difficult to see outdoors in direct sunlight. It gets easier to see when using a white background instead of black though.
I really hope they take this invite system off soon as the specs are still great in terms of other flagships. With this invite system off, it will probably bolster the accessories available for the OPO.

Looks like he tried to get the back cover off and damaged it.

Looks like this thread is doing it's job I'm glad.
I think the USB cable is a bit short too.
And the packaging is awesome, but my red ribbon to pull the red box out of the white box kinda came off when I applied force to it.
My device is weird though, because it would go from 35% battery to 100% in about an hour.
I havent been able to kill it at all lol

When I was unboxing it and was putting the box back together, the white tray (holding the phone) wasn't fully into its spot and I put it back in and I had troubles pulling the box back out so theres some tear on the box but I eventually forced it back out. Not sure if this happened to anybody else.
Well thats what the amazing charger does ... its nice because a lot of the older Android phone took at least 2 or more hours to charge unless you had a charger with higher amps.

Lol Thanks buddy! I just looked at the charger, 2A 5V as opposed to some of the older chargers with 5V 450mA lol no wonder it just powers through charging like that.
Though the Oppo's charger (should be deemed as the "SuperCharger" of phones) takes the cake. I haven't tried it personally, but the reviews says that it goes from 0- 100 in a matter of minutes (I'd guess about 30 minutes? Give or take a few). But that's what's expected from a 4.5A charger lol

A lot of my old chargers were 1.2-1.3A, the aftermarket charger I was using before was 1.8A which still charges the OPO quite nicely. I read that Samsung also gives 2A chargers to their new phones as well. Its common for phones with large mAh. It is nice that Samsung uses USB 3.0 though.
As nice as wireless charging, it can't deliver the same speeds as wired charging. So for me, wireless charging doesn't matter. Plus its not really wireless, you're just paying for a dock pretty much.

Can I make a suggestion? Add "off topic lounge" to the title of the thread, it'll make its purpose a bit more clear and hopefully attract some more people.
Also, have you ever wanted to fill all of the clothes in your closet with pasta?
