Ok so now with Froyo I feel like the synchronisation works better.
The calendar from exchange is well synced and I have all the category in my samsung
But the mail ... still the same crap than before !!!
Most of the screenshot are not displayed, the array ( copy and paste from excel) are displayed in only one column ..
If you have a tree of folder ... the display is just ridiculous !! Still the same than 2.1 !! How can they be so stupid !!!
So basically this samsung mail app is just a app for people sending sms like mail from hotmail ... no way someone can use it for business !!!
There are some improvement like the menu , the button to switch from one mailbox to another, a move folder feature ( it was such a shame in 2.1 to not have this)
Yeah I know I could pay 20$ for Touchdown and struggle to install K-9 on exchange ... but serioulsy .... is it that difficult to have a smartphone which works out of the box for the mail ?? Even this f....g Steve can do it
Can anyone tell me how it works on desire + Froyo ?? Do you have a better app that you could share ??

Hello world!
I've got a big problem (big for me... obiously)
I connect my Kaiser to the Exchange server @ work and I sync all the mails with no problem.
The big prob is that I have more than 1 account that is checked and managed by my mail @ work, so I'm using rules to move the incoming mails to specific folders.
In this way, windows mobile shows me (in htc home) only the mails arrived to the root of mail structure, but it not shows me the others moved into the subfolders.
With FlexMail http://www.pocketinformant.com/products_info.php?p_id=mail& I can use a today plugin that shows me every new mail arrived.
But... is there another way not to have to install a 3rd party app to alert me when new mails arrived?
Or... is there another (and less invasive) app to have a "sign" that new mails are arrived?
Also because I'm waiting for the new Diamond and, as far as I know, the check mail will be the same of my "old" kaiser, so my fear is that I'll not able to know if new mail arrived.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP plz...
I hate the way of wm to check the mail...
Best regards,
Leo
edit: maybe a mortscript script? dunno if it's possible but...
I would love a solution to this too!
BUMP
no help? :'(
I think Flexmail or other 3rd party app is only solution...

not that i'm aware of... but you can use the GMail ActiveSync option to push your email and sync your contacts and calendar with your phone (as long as you're not already using ActiveSync)...
Im using gmail activesync now and it worked great on my contacts and calander but the emails take almost 30 minutes to send and 30 minutes to receave. even if i manual hit send/receave. is there anything i can do?? i set up for direct push as email arives. is there anything else to speed this up so it works like my old blackberry?

Wait for the real thing and use Android itself, I am beta testing them and it
all work great with syncing up my mail, agenda and contacts. The only thing
were waiting on is to standby your screen, if that works then (for me) its
almost fully tradeable for Windows Mobile.
don't you know you can integrate gmail's email / contact / agenda into the Manila already?
just add an exchange source from m.google.com with your gmail account.
MOD EDIT
Moved to general discussion forum as not related to rom development
Hi
What is the exchange integration like on the tab? Does it do calendar integration like on the iPad with full options to accepts meeting requests etc?
Also, can it open word and excel docs from email and are there options for editing?
Thanks

Yes to the first question. And as for the second one, there is ThinkFree Office installed on the Tab out of the box so you can at least open MS Office Documents. As for editing, I think you would require something like the paid version of ThinkFree or Documents To Go from Dataviz (which is what I use). Neither of those softwares are as great as Keynote, Numbers or Pages are on the iPad.
The version of Thinkfree that came on my UK spec Tab can create/edit documents. I guess this may differ from region to region.

Dave

OK thanks guys.
How do you find the functionality of the ThinkFree? Is it adequate for creating and editing word and excel docs? This is really the dealbreaker for me.
Cheers
Just thought I'd post and say that the email client is the best if not on par with the HTC Mail client for use with Exchange. Its definitely the best looking too!
Calendar invites don't seem to work for me
I was just looking for any info/comments about exhange integration.
I've got a tab and have it set-up with my works Exchange server. Email/Calendar seems to work fine but I see no way of accepting new calendar invites. I can do this on my Desire just fine though.
Am I being a total moron or have others also noticed this?
Mike
There's no need to reply to this question as I found another thread further along and this seems to be a Android<>Exchange issue and not me being a moron. I recall reading just before I got my HTC Desire that HTC had done some extra work on exchange integration and I guess calendar invites was one example. Hey ho - hopefully it will work in the future but in the meantime the 7" screen on the tab means it's easy enough to log in to webmail and accept the occasional invites.
I still love the tab.
I've been testing it for about 2 weeks ...
ThinkFree office suite allows you to create/edit/review xls, doc files.
Works well. PDF viewing is better than Adobe Acrobat reader ... (faster).
About Exchange integration, IMHO it is there but it remains a bit light ...
It supports :
- Multiple Exchange email accounts with push mail (both Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007).
- Multiple Exchange Calendars sync & display (display merge feature is there)
But ...
- Meeting requests buttons ... Accept/ Reject / ... are not there. (known issue ?)
- New meetings or updates added to main Exchange calendar - using your own main account - are seen by other clients for the very same Exchange account (OWA, WiMo, ...) as they were sent by someone else.
- Meeting "Busy/Temporary/Out of office" status cannot be set from Tab UI.
- Meeting "Busy/Temporary/Out of office" status are not displayed.
- Contacts only from the main Exchange account are accessible. Contacts from other Exchange accounts are synced, but cannot be seen.
HTC Desire HD (and Z) Exchange integration is better than the one provided with Galaxy Tab... Let's hope we'll get an update with next firmware.
Appart from all that, Galaxy Tab is a delight to work with ...
cant view folders on the tab
in addition to the inbox, i cant see the sub folders i created in my outlook and the mails routed to these folders dont show up on the tab..The Ipad & Iphone pushes mails even in the subfolders...need some help !!
When I click on the word Inbox next to the exchange server name, I get a drop down list of all the other subfolders to sync them as well, but by default it doesn't load them.

I miss the swipe friendly folder tabs on the Galaxy S, but the dropdown box ain't bad.
I actually think in many ways the Galaxy series has better Exchange support than Windows Phone 7. Really.

Why?
Just got my tab for a few days and just found out that the Galaxy Tab's email client has no way to accept invitations.
This is a very basic exchange functionality working on most other Android Phones.
I do like the GUI though, but this is unforgivable as it is a basic Android 2.2 feature. As is tagging appointments as for example "private", which is also not possible with the Galaxy Tab's Agenda application.
Hi
What you could try to do is to look at what date the invitation concerns and then open up your calender and go to that date and you should be able to accept/decline the invitation.

With exchange access on my (personal) mobile, my company also has the possibility to wipe out my mobile (company policy). Is there a way I could limit this wipe to only affect all the exchange data? I don't mind that in the worst case when they do a wipe, all my exchange data is unavailable (makes sense), but I don't want to lose all my personal apps/data/pictures/etc. as well... (Is this possibly different per exchange client?)
Touchdown handles more complex Exchange integration including client certificates, "device" encryption, PIN code access etc. The good thing about it is that it creates its own encryption and pin locking zone so that it doesn't affect your whole device. On data wipe etc, it only affects the exchange area.
Hi !
I use HD2 for the work...
I have 2 "BIG" problemswith all non-sense android 2.3 roms....
1. GAL Support !
How can I add support for GAL ?? I mean global address list ?? In WM Sense and also in Android Sense when I create a new email just presing the "TO" I can select any contact stored or search in GAL (the GAL the company I work has like 50000 contacts so sync them is not an option).
In market "Corporate Address Book" let u do that work... but is not enough since I usually add various contacts... and that sw only let u create new email with the contact u search... If u search another one it creates a totally new email.
Is there anyway to have GAL exactly as in WM Sense / Android Sense ??
2. Email SW problem with emails
Under "Quantity for Sync" u can choose between 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 Month. Ok but WHERE the hell is the option to choose ALL... I have never seen an email client without that option in many many time !
Anyway to add both functions in Android 2.3 ?? Anyway to install htc email client / contacts in a non sense rom ??
Really ty for all !!
Any ideas ??
This is a big problem for all that sync their exchange work accounts...
K9 does not support GAL also....
And neither of them support also a so simple task that is just adding a contact email to the "To/Copy/Hidden Copy....".
TY
Try Corporate Addressbook
I downloaded Corporate Addressbook from the Android Market and it works very well for me with my corporate exchange account. You can use it stand alone to look up GAL entries and (optionally) add them to your contacts. What is really nice (at least for me...) is that it also seems to automatically work in my email now. If I type in a contact name that is not in my own contacts, it automatically starts looking in the GAL.
Give it a try.
I am using Gingerbread from MDJ's Cyanogen 2.6.
What about a way to search emails? I cannot seem to find a way to search my inbox for emails that are on the phone. I can get the KB to pop up, but nothing happens when I type....?
Finally. Microsoft have released a standalone app for Hotmail which supports Push, activesync, folders HTML, the lot.
Called "Hotmail" and its by Microsoft + Seven.
http://www.liveside.net/2011/10/03/official-windows-live-hotmail-app-for-android-released/
Works perfectly for me.
It was already supported in Touchdown...

If you pay for it...
Nice works good for me too. I only can't seem te find the setting for changing te ringtone for new e-mails..
It seems to work quite good for me (5 accounts). But I have a big issue when editing/creating contacts : Only the name fied is available. I cannot edit phone numbers, mails, address, notes...
Do you know why?
I tried it yesterday on my DHD with MIUI but it seemed to drain my batt down.
Anyone else notice the same?
No, on the contrary it seems to be low consuming on mine!
I used to have the native google mail app to synchronize my hotmail accounts (with push). It worked quite well, but with no HTML, and the battery drain was higher than with this app.
After 2 days, it only used 2% of battery with push enabled and 34 mails received (and read)
Did anyone try to modify a contact with it? are you able to modify something else than the name? I'm not, so I had to keed another program to do it...
I was under the impression that ActiveSync supported everything, no need for this app. Not for me anyway. I just sync up with ActiveSync.

yes i also just discovered that MS active sync actually works as all the time i was trying to use the hotmail but have found out that tmobile are restricting outgoing messaging but i thought id try the microsoft activesync and guess what ? ........IT WORKS !!
so no need (well atleast in my case) for any hotmail or another app as the inbuilt htc email thing is working with hotmail by using exchange active sync instead of using the windows live/hotmail option
In fact it was not working in htc's app before the lastest rom upgrade...
It now works, but I still have some issues : contacts sometimes not synchronizing, no html rendering, problems with accents in french...
htc's mail app is still not very good...
this new Microsoft app is supposed to garanty that everything works fine. And moreover you have html mails at last!
(with pushed hotmail)
Thanks for that!!
Thanks, although I despise Hotmail, some people (family) still insist on using my 10 year old Hotmail email address and this beats having the once-an-hour GMail POP3 check only.
thanks this app is great!
