[Q] Help getting back? - Android Software Development

I've had a myTouch 3G for a while, and got bored with it, so I rooted it. It's currently at Cyanogen Mod 5.0.8. I got a text saying that Froyo(2.2) was coming to myTouch 10/13 through 10/21. Is there anyway I will receive this update while I'm using Cyanogen Mod? And if I can't, is there anyway I can get back to Donut(1.6)?

You will have to flash it into your device. As i know theres no way to downgrade android os.

I just got back into 1.5(I think) through a SAPPIMG.NBH file at theunlockr.com. What I can't figure out though, is how I can get past the sign in page. I need a 3G or EDGE connection, but my SIM doesn't have that. I used to do it with my cousin's SIM(Has 3G), but since I probably won't see him over the weekend, I need an alternative. Is there anyway I can bypass the, "Welcome to T-MOBILE myTouch 3G" screen? I tried the four corners solution, but to no avail. Is there maybe a certain APN Setting someone can post for me?

Trouble connecting to 3G(rooted mytouch)

Hi everyone,
Hope this is the right place to ask this. I recently rooted my mytouch 3g with cyanogen's mod 4.0.4 and then applied a hero theme on top. Everything works great, but my 3g and edge data have stopped working. I have the H symbol running at the top, but whenever I use the browser or internet related functions(gmail app), I got redirected to the m.web2go.com page from t-mobile asking me to get a data plan. Now it says that there are too many redirects and the web page won't load at all. I checked my APN settings and they matched the T-mobile US ones, so I'm stumped on what to do next. Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated.
Call Tmobile and make sure everything is alright on there end.
THanks for the help, called up t-mobile and got it all straightened out. New question though, completely unrelated. I decided to sell the mytouch, and I'm wondering how I remove its association with my email address without undoing the root. Any ideas? Thanks again for the help so far

unrooting wouldn't do this.
just wipe data, re-flash any rom you choose and you're good to go.

[Q] New to gsm androids

I've got a droidx and an evo. Recently, got a hold of a t-mobile mytouch and had numerous problems when I first got it. I'm not used to gsm's at all. All having to do with not having a t-mobile sim. I'm not complaining I finally activated it with a tmobile employees sim.
My question is: after I root, and flash a custom rom, is the activation screen going to be a problem since I don't have a tmobile sim and will only be using this as one of my various dev phones. If the activation screen is going to be a problem, is it possible to modify the system files on this tmobile my touch, so as to not have this activation screen lock the phone, sort of like the nexus one bypass or are there n e sapphire roms with this sort of bypass built into it already. .
Ive been researching this for awhile and i found something for a G1, but I don't know if the method will work. I have knowledge of adb use. If this has already been posted somewhere then whoops, could anyone point me in the right direction.
I think most custom ROMs let you either bypass the activation or let you use wiring to activate. I know for sure that the Cyanogen builds and ROMs based of their mod will let you use with to login with Google. Alternatively, if you don't needs access to market or any market apps you could opt not to install the Google Apps add-on and you wont be prompted at all.

[Q] Bypass Sign In for Wifi Setup on Mytouch 3g

Hi All. I am wondering if anyone has been able to find a solution to this problem yet:
I recently bought a used MyTouch 3g. It had Android 1.6 on it, and the seller's info was still on it. So, being courteous, I did a factory reset. The phone booted into a sign in screen, but I couldn't sign in, as I don't have a data plan. So, I upgraded using the T-Mobile release of Froyo 2.2.1. I was then able to enable Wifi (yes, I have Wifi) and sign in. I used the phone as a VOIP device and toy for a while, but noticed that the Froyo was sluggish and had video playback problems. So, I decided to root the phone, so I could install CyanogenMod. I used the directions on the CyanogenMod wiki and flashed the MT3G with the COC10 Sappimg.nbh. I was then supposed to install FlashRec and 1.33.2005 SPL, but I can't because now I am back to square one, I cannot get past the sign in screen to enable wifi, so I can't sign in and do the next steps. Also, I tried to access the device with ADB, but cannot connect, as I cannot enable USB debugging on the device (must be able to get past the sign in screen and change settings to do that). I have tried to upgrade again to Froyo 2.2.1, but even that is not working this time. Does anyone have an idea for another approach? Thanks!
I had similar problem...I went to closest T-mobile store and ask a guy there if I can use his test SIM card with data plan ( or you may have a friend with data plan SIM)...in 15 minutes I passed the screen at the beginning and now everything works fine...
Regards
Thanks.
Thanks. Yes, I finally remembered that a friend of mine has a 4g data plan and I used his card to log in. Now it works fine.

Frustrated 2.3 Shift Metro, Please advice!!

A month ago I bought a NIB evo shift and got it flashed on my metro with everything working. Mostly I use wifi at work n home but I also had the crappy slow metro mobile network working somehow when I needed to use chat app, newspaper or google search. Last night I saw the 2.3 update and I thought if I update I could improve the performance of my device. I wish i didnt update!
With the update my mobile network stopped working. First I thought it was metro somehow disabled it but with a little search on the net I figured out that gingerbread is not compatible with metro mobile network. So super frustrated, I went to sprint and was ready to sign up if they could flash the phone to sprint network. The rep said they dont do it and I have to find someone to do it. In the mean time he told me to flash a phone they need to root the phone temp or perm and it is not possible with 2.3 yet.
Of course I couldnt give up and start calling flashers on craiglist. Even thought I explained that I have a metro flashed 2.3 shift they said "dont worry we can fix the internet issue if you bring the phone"
Now since i know its not possible to downgrade to froyo or root the phone, does anyone think they can fix my mobile network back to normal?
I need an expert advice before I drive 1 hour and spent some money on this issue. I will check back responses in the morning before I leave. What is my options?
1) Wait till some dev figures out rooting and try to get metro net fixed?
2) Find someone to flash back to sprint or any other network?
3) Buy a new evo shift with 2.2 and get it flashed to metro and try to sell this one ?
Any suggestions and information is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

[Q] myTouch 3G Can you pass the beginning without a Data Plan [Rooting Help!!!]

My story is that in the past I got a myTouch 3G unlocked and the guy that gave it to me had his gmail in it and I didn't know the pass, so I just factory reset it and then i got the surprise that I NEED a data plan to be able to do the beginning screens...
So I got to a guy that fixes cellphones and he used his internet to pass through the screen...
After that it got a 2.2.1 update and I was to happy kuz now I could factory reset it and not need internet to pass it...
Then I learned about rooting and I really wanted to root my phone, so I went to a page that showed me how to root it and they told me as a first step to go back to 1.5 using a downloadable file named sappimg.nbh so I followed the instructions and downgraded it back to 1.5, BUT I need a data plan to pass the beginning screen now and now I can't take it back to the same dude as before, and sense I live in a small place called the Dominican Republic; the only data plans here are for BBs and iPhones...
So now that I finished the story, the question is...
Is there a way that i can pass the beginning screen without a data plan???
PLEASE HELP!!! I have looked up just about everything and can't even find the second downloadable update file I need to take it back to 2.2.1! PLEASE HELP!!!
There is a way, edit your APN to wap.voicestream.com instead of the epc one, then click on the part that says read terms of service, it should bring you to a place where you can buy a one day data plan for $1
