OK, here's the long and short.
I installed voodoo 0.2. I disabled voodoo. The uninstall process wiped my data partition.
I was able to boot to recovery and CWM and tried to restore my nandroid backup.
Phone boots but I get FC's immediately and nothing works.
So, I move on to Odin and hope to go back to stock and then restore my backup.
Here's the problem, pull the battery, press volume down and plug in USB. PC says device not detected. I tried both the older Samsung USB mobile device driver and the Samsung Fascinate device driver but both of them give me the same error. Unknown device plugged in. Did the same thing with the battery in, just in case. Same error. For some reason, the PC can't detect what the device is and so won't use the proper drivers.
SO....Odin doesn't see my Fascinate and that means I'm stuck. PLEASE HELP!
Has odin or adb ever worked for you on your PC? What version of odin are you using?
I have this same problem and yes mine has im just using the version from the root guide

Hello Everyone I felt my previous explanation of the problem I am facing may not have been a good one so I am going to try explaining my problem again. I am currently experiencing several problems. I have a samsung Fascinate. When the phone was working fine I rooted it and all was still fine. I then installed clockworkmod(rom manager). I tried installing several roms by downloading them to to rom manager then selecting the one I want then rebooting the phone. But everytime I tried installing a rom by selecting apply update.zip from sdcard E:signature to verifly whole-file signature, E:signature verification failed, installation aborted. After reading through some of the links in xda developers forums I realized I need Odin. Once I installed Odin it never recognized my fascinate in the ID com column with in Odin. I made sure the phone was mounted by selecting mount from top drop down menu from fascinate. At the same time I notice that in Windows XP it would say USB not recognized although Fascinate would show up as a mass storage when checking under explorer and see a F: drive for the phone. Iam able to see the files in the phone and transfer if necessary. I then tried getting a new update.zip and rebooting to menu where u select apply sdcard update.zip same error of invalid signature. then tried cwmrecovery and rebooting ..no luck either. Then I found a link containing a file named stock.zip...but no luck either. So I decided to wipe and reset to start all over and when I did that and the phone started and I unlocked the screen I began getting endless forceclose. This is where I am now. Does anyone have any suggestions.
You need to download the Samsung drivers first. Then proceed to use Odin.

Download mode is easy:
Step 1. Power up your phone (while phone is off, press power and release), then
Step 2. Immediately hold volume down until you see the yellow Android warning sign.
I downloaded the usb drivers for mobile but ti still didn't wok. What else do you think it might. When I connect the phone to computer (windows XP) on the lower right it says USB device not recognized.
Are you pointing the device driver installation to the path where the drivers are? And did you download the drivers for your correct cpu 32 or 64 bit?

I forgot to mentioned that I have installed the samsung usb drivers two times. still no luck. I even read that if you unplugged the usb and then shoutdown windows xp and physically disconnect power and wait about a minute or two sometimes this would help xp recognize usb port. I also tried disabling and enabling the port via manage in my computer on xp while the fascinate was connected and also tried it disabling and enabling while phone was not connected no luck eitherway. Any other suggestions. Thanks inadvance for everyones suggestions.
the drivers I downloaded are 32 bit. how do I point the drivers as you have mentioned. I also tried downloading android sdk tools and tried to figure out how to push the files top the phone but when I typed adb device under listing devices it does not show the phone or anything for that matter. I am confused now as to what may be the original problem and how to tackle the problem should I work on USB problem first then force close then update.zip any suggesstions.
You need to go to device manager, find the phone under the section that talks about not recognized usb's, right click on it then go to properties, then you need to manually select the drivers you downloaded..
My phone is running DL30 based Blackhole 4.01 with the DL09 modem. When I try to plug my phone into a computer, the phone detects the computer, but the computer does not detect the phone.
- The phone starts charging
- The phone says "USB Debugging Connected"
- The computer does nothing
- adb devices lists no devices
- same thing in download mode, the computer doesn't see the phone
I have tried on OS X and booted into Windows XP.
I have no idea how to handle this. The one thing I tried was installing the Stock/rooted DL30 rom instead of Blackhole, but that didn't seem to fix and I went back.
To make matters worse, assuming that everything in ROM Manager is basically safe, I accidentally installed orange clockwork today and I cannot figure out how to get back to a working clockwork. The All ClockworkMod Recoveries option in ROM Manager does nothing - they all say download error.
Wow. If anybody can help with any of this, that would be great. Thanks everyone.
Did you install the proper samsung drivers onto the computer.
Edit: Also did you try to Odin, the title indicates no odin, but your explanation doesnt say so. (Open Odin, remove battery, hold down volume and insert usb cable)
what do you mean "onto my phone?" My Windows system has samsung drivers and OS X were both previously able to connect, use odin, etc. I don't know when it stopped working.
Yeah, odin doesn't work because the computer never detects that the phone is attached.

Sorry, meant computer.
What do you mean odin stopped working, your explanation doesnt say anything about odin as my edit in above post.
What I mean is that I used odin to install DL09. After that, I don't recall every attaching to my computer, but when I tried recently to install EB01, it no longer works. Sometime after flashing DL09, my phone is no longer detected by computer.
Im saying does odin detect the phone, not the computer.
You can odin the updated CWM (non orange) from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021
no, odin does not see the phone.

Are you sure Odin doesn't work?
Check USB settings on your phone. My rom gives me media player mode and mass storage mode. Don't have my cable with me to test if media player mode stays hidden from the pc.

Odin uses download mode with phone off.. What would this matter?

I was IRL with OP trying to solve this a few days ago. It's not that improper/no drivers are installed, the computer literally does not detect that there is a device connected to that USB port. lsusb on Linux turns up just the controllers and root hubs, and devmgmt.msc on XP does not show anything attached at all, even after a manual hardware scan. adb shows absolutely nothing. My Captivate does show up on all the same scans, regardless of the USB mode (Kies/mass storage/media player/what have you.)
He has tried this on multiple computers, so individual ports/USB controllers/drivers/OS bugaboos have been effectively ruled out.
My thought is that between your last flash, OP, and now, your physical microUSB port on the phone is damaged. If you no can haz insurance, I'd say you're SOL.
FYI: The phone does not say "debugging connected" when plugged into the wall. I think the my USB connector is damaged or something. I may consider seeing if I can get it repaired, or I may just wait until I can get a different phone that's better supported by manufacturer (and therefore by the mod community)
I have installed a nightly update for Cyanogen 7 and since then the phone is stuck on the Cyanogen logo.
I can get into recovery but since I don't have any firmware files on my SD I can't reinstall the ROM. I just need a way to put the files on my internal SD.
I have tries ADB which didn't detect my phone. I have installed the driver (The phone is found as the Nexus S for some reason) .
I also couldn't get into download mode although I don't have the hardware lock as I can get into recovery.
What can I do in this situation? I am already thinking of opening the phone, swapping out the internal SD and transferring the files through the computer. I would like to know if there's any other way.
Thank you!

Plug phone into computer and boot in recovery. If still not recognized by adb go to advanced and select reboot recovery. This should get you adb. ADB push "namehere".zip sdcard.
If still having problems Odin back to stock and start over. To get to download mode make sure phone is off, battery pull if necessary. Plug USB to phone press volume up and down and hold and plug USB into computer.

Awesome! Thanks to you I have managed to get into download mode now.
All the guides that I found says I should use the power button. You said only up and down while connecting. That worked.
I am very grateful.
The problem is I can't unbrick and restore my nexus to stock rom.
I can't boot the device and I'm only able to boot to bootloader. However, my computer doesn't recognize the nexus. It keeps saying Window cannot recognize it whenever I plug my tablet to the computer in bootloader. I tried uninstall and reinstall driver several times, but none of them seems to work . ----> That means I can't even use adb to restore the phone simply because my tablet is not recognized in window.
Is there anyway to fix this problem? I really need your helps as soon as possible.
Thank you for reading !
Get to bootloader. Then use Wugs toolkit, open advanced options. On the very left is something like "temp boot to recovery". Once that boots it to recovery, ADB should work. It did for me. I was in some trouble last night and got out by this. If you know how to use adb/fastboot commands, you should be good. And I uninstalled my drivers and when I plugged it in the device automagically reloaded the drivers. But you have to do it a few times. Had to do it in bootloader, recovery, and another point. Anytime it asks to load drivers/etc do it.
I can't boot to recovery through Wug Tool Kit. It keeps saying Fastboot device was not found >"<
By the way, whenever I connnected my device to computer, the bootloader freezes :|
What were you doing before you go into this situation?
I was on Glazed Jelly Bean rom and wanted to go back to stock rom. I used nexus 7 toolkit to do all the work for me. However, there was something wrong like the toolkit didnt extract the stock img right or something like that, my tablet got bootloop, and what happened next was what i had been telling you guys.
Best bet is if somehow you could get into recovery or get adb working. Might want to uninstall drivers and install again and reboot computer. I would suggest using this thread and flash things manually back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796 but you would need adb working.
When you power off device and use volume and power can you get it to go into boot loader then plugged into computer try to get to recovery or adb.
Consider deleting the drivers from Windows after uninstalling them otherwise Windows may try to be "clever" and reinstall the bad driver when you plug the device in. The Nexus 7 drivers from Asus can be downloaded here and Google's USB drivers are here

Have you tried Nexus Root Toolkit v .1.5.4?

try connecting to the usb port at the back of your computer
Paranoid flashed with the bricked kernel did this to me once right after the move to 4.1.2. Even with a full wipe and all the usual safety precautions it just stuck on bootloop forever and wouldn't let me in. I chalked it up as that's what I get for being the guy that's never satisfied with stock. I was unable to get my nexus7 fixed. I sent you a suggestion on pm though.
Never mind everyone. Thank you so much for your help.
I tried install the nexus 7's driver on another computer and it recognized my device in bootloader mode, and restore everything back to stock now. Thank you so much!!!!
Mine did that to the first time I tried. After I got it to work, the permissions were all messed up and I could not get it to download anything off the web and I was getting a playstore error 90% of the time as well. I finally just wiped everything on my tablet, installed the stock rom via N7 toolkit, then reflashed smooth rom, and all is working now. It may have been a bug with the older version of N7 toolkit, as I updated it before I reran everything.
I have an unlocked and Rooted Nexus. My PC would not recognise my Nexus after I updated it to 4.2.2 so i thought I'd flash it back to Jellybean using Rom Manager. Now when I power the Nexus up it loads the Google screen but then goes black, it is still powered up as you can see a faint illumination. I can access TWRP but i wiped the Nexus and have no backup to restore "Doh" Is the any way to restore another Rom while the Nexus is in this state ?
Thanks in advance.

How can I flash the image as I can't connect my nexus to PC. It shows up in devices when I have it in TWRP but when I try and do the soft brick restore in Root toolkit it say that the drivers are not correct. I have tried updating the drivers but I don't know if USB debugging is on.
If your computer recognizes the n7 in twrp mode, see if it recognizes adb in twrp too. while connected to computer go into twrp's Mount menu and mount everything, system and turn on adb access. hopefully your data partition will show up on the computer. if so you can download and load up a flashable ROM zip and flash it in twrp, or maybe you can load up and restore someone else's nandroid backup.
Ye Ha.... We have success . Managed to salvage my Nexus and now by sideloading the new rom and Gapps is fully working.
Thanks very much for your help. Its easy when you know how lol.
Now I'm back to the original problem that my Nexus doesn't show up in File Explorer. Any ideas ???
Great! So now it boots into android but there computer doesn't see it? maybe your USB connection options are unchecked. go to Settings -> Storage and tap the menu button up top to bring up the USB connection setting dialog. Make sure MTP is checked.
If it still doesn't seem to work go into your device manager in your computer and make sure the computer isn't seeing the N7 as unknown device or something. You might need to uninstall the device and reinstall (or update driver).
