Hi
I have rooted my X10 now and I wonder if there is anything cool stuff I can do now. Changing the UX or something like that.
Do you guys know anything I can do now as my phone is rooted?
Thank you.

can u pls explain wat u mean by rooting?
Thanks for answar.
Rooting is to have the administrative control on your phone.
You can control everything yourself.
Is it possible to get free apps on the phone that cost in the Market?
Like jailbreak you have installous.

there are some tutorials on youtube, but never tried them
I heard when you "root" your phone....you have complete control of it and you can set it so it makes you coffee in the morning....geez the things us non rooted users are missing out on

I've only got the Toast app, although it's a bit buggy, gives me jam when I want marmalade, I've emailed the developer but not heard back yet.

Duh!! That's cuz the toast app only works properly on 2.1 lol
It's limitations of 1.6 you can have jam.... 2.1 brings marmalade lol

Ahh that's why, thanks for the heads up, I'll just stick with jam for the time being then, and that probably explains why the dog walker app only picks up the lead and sits at the door.

even with rooting, you can't up it to 2.2 anyway, because bootloader isn't cracked yet, correct?

So, I was wondering if anyone has yet tried pulling the GPS fix that Samsung sent out for the Captivate and trying it with the Fascinate. Shouldn't be too difficult, as the GPS hardware for the different Galaxy S variants SHOULD be almost 100% the same.
Might be worth a look, just a thought.

Yeah, never even thought about it. Definitely try it out. You know how to do that right? Shouldn't be too difficult.

Someone would need to take a look at the OTA for the Captivate to see what we need, but yeah, pushing the needed files would be the next step. Seems simple enough.

I made a similar mistake trying to bring the google stock launcher over from the captivate. Had to do a restore. It won't work.

Getting Google's home and fixing a gps are two very different things, but I get where you are coming from.
Does the Captivate gps fix involve a tweak to their radio as well? If so, I can definitely understand why that wouldn't work for us.

It's only for select phones for the time being, but hopefully the devs can make this happen.
im sure it will work on cm7 im downloading the app as we speak
I literally came here seconds after seeing Nexus S and not any of the Galaxy S devices listed.

versedout,
Thank you for this bit of information. This is what all Android users have been waiting for. I am completeley stoked, but it's bitter sweet at the same time. I really love my Vibrant and really don't want to have to get another phone so that I could enjoy the nectur of the gods. I can only hope, no wait, I KNOW that one of the Devs will get this up and running for all phonesnot just: "The app has just hit the Android Market and is apparently available for the HTC Incredible, Nexus One, Evo 4G, and G2, plus the Samsung Nexus S. "

That's what I was thinking of doing. I just haven't seen the apk posted.
@Das_Negros I know it's only a matter of time.
Apk post? Anyone?

No need for an apk when there is an online Android Market. Here is the link to the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
apk - http://www.multiupload.com/NPZ062QIZB via Gizmodo.
Of course I installed it and it gave me "Netflix is not supoorted on this device..." but it does load up the startup screen.

A friend has downloaded it to his EVO 4G and the thing works flawlessly....Just pissed that they didn't make it for the Galaxy S/Vibrant.....just have to wait I guess (come on guys work your magic....Devs that is)
well its a no go changed my build.prop strait from cm7 for nexus s and its a no go lets me log in and check movies and such but wont play ill reinstall and see if its different
i get nothing but a blank screen then fc on cm7 with bilboa's kernel, tried installing the app twice with the same result.
grabbed apk from the HTC forum, not working on vibrant with TW 2.2 rom
Definitely what I was waiting for, I get alot of downtime at work. Netflix on my phone would be quite amazing...

Not supported on SGH-T959 with Bionix 1.3.1.
Stay classy Android fragmentation.
thought i had read a while back that netflix was only able to make a licensing deal for android if the supported device had hardware based drm to prevent piracy
Got the app on my G2 and its the same as my itouch. What I don't understand is why does it need DRM protected when you need an netflix account to use it.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to say a HUGE THANKS to all of you. I made the switch from a jailbroken iPhone to an Atrix 4G on ATT and because of the knowledge base of the users, an organized forum and an excellent search function, I was able to unlock my bootloader, root my phone and install Gingerblur all wiithin an hour. KUDOS!
Welcome! The fun is only starting.
Yeah I'm awesome! Jk Congrats and welcome

Before the bootloader was unlockable, there were the people unhappy with their phones and made threads in a toddler temper tantrum announcing they were getting a different phone and why. It always made me chuckle, that they think anyone cares. Don't see much of those threads anymore.
I have 3 Atrix. I knew that it was a matter of time until it showed its real potential. Now it finally is. it has has a bad rap but it should be more appreciated now.

Okay, I think I have it where I want it.
Gingerbread, CHERRY 3.14 and check out my screenshots here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16156825#post16156825
I'd like to say thanks too. I've rooted, unlocked the bootloader, manually installed GB and the radio update and installed CWM recovery. And everything just worked. The roms and programs worked great, and any lingering issues I had were resolved by a quick search of the forums. You guys have made the process of updating my phone a breeze. Thanks so much!
Granted the Iphone stuff was super easy.... just wait for an update, then wait for someone to develop a jailbreak for it...I just jailbroke my sons friends ipod by going to jailbreakme.com and that was it. Now as far as themes and overall customization, this phone is badarse.
I am thinking about getting one of these phones for myself, are they easy to get root, I had a DINK2, now I'm using a Sprint phone flashed to verizon, but I think this might be why some of the features don't work.
I want this phone because of its size, unless someone recommends a better phone.

they are easy to root - but your issue could be with flashing ROMs. if you want to flash a custom ROM (4.1.2 or later) you will need to unlock the bootloader - and Motorola has prevented the unlocking on builds after Apr 2013. so check the build date for your device. if it reads May 2013, then you cannot unlock the bootloader (currently). if prior, then unlock it!

I cannot stand a phone that looks so nice and they take away part of the display by adding a toolbar, taking away over 1/2 in of usable area, for this reason, this phone is not for me, I instead want the HTC DNA.
I was looking at the HTC ONE, but even on that phone, they have the lame toolbar.
Thank you everyone.

Well you can always use a custom ROM with PIE controls and expanded desktop. I opposed the navbar at first, but quickly came to prefer it over hardware and capacitive navigation buttons.
