Root froyo 2.2 - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi
I just upgraded to froyo 2.2 via samsung kies and i wanted to know if i could root the phone the same way as in with 2.1?
Has there bin created a update.zip file yet?

you may also flash kernels by odin which have root support like speedmod kernel you can find it here

Update pending?

I got a update pending on my phone right now at work so I don't wanna update yet in case it bricks me could it be 2.2 because I got the last update they sent out and if it is 2.2 should I update it because I believe I read 2.2 is harder to root (true?) And I wanna flash once the source code is released and bionix does there magic

Could be a KA2 baseband update only. I just got an update this morning OTA and it wasn't froyo...just baseband update to KA6. I was previously on stock JI6...see the thread I just created...

Just do it, there hasnt been a samsung update yet thats stumped our devs. If anything happens you can just odin back to stock.

Unable to update through KIES

I am currently running kyrillos rom v3.3 in my sg3. When i tried to update this rom to new froyo from samsung through kies it says :"THIS VERSION OF DEVICE CANNOT BE UPDATED"..........
Flash stock eclair first and then try to install froyo or flash directly stock froyo via odin.

dude mine is i5801 i cudnt get any stock firmware for tat.....everytime i get is tat of i5800s

Given that you would have to SBF to Froyo to install the prerooted Gingerbread, yes, you will lose your cricket flash.

SuperOneClick worked for me, version 2.3.3.
After it worked, I added BusyBox via the Market...
Copy CF root into ur internal card, go to recovery mode and then select zip from internal card and select CF root.. done here is the file 4 u
