I have downloaded Ryanza's OCLF from Marketplace, however when I go to root my device everything seems to go OK, I reboot and select the Zip Update from the SD, however once rebooted I still only have the Reboot and the check space options available.
has anyone had the same issue?

Hi,
I recently went from stock RC33 -> RC29 -> RC33 JFv1.43. However, I found that once I finished the procedure, I could not re-install any of my old apps! (They all got wiped going from RC33 -> RC29 using the DREAIMG.nbh file).
If I go to "My Downloads" in Market, it remembers all the apps I have installed previously, but they show up as 'FREE' instead of 'Installed'. So I click on one, then click the 'Install' button, approve the security dialog. Then I watch the download status, it goes from Starting Download... to Downloading... then I don't even see the usual yellow progress bar, it goes straight to "Download Unsuccessful".
I've only tried a few apps, but so far all the apps I had previously installed cannot install on this newly rooted & wiped phone. I tried installing two random apps I never installed before, and they came in fine.
Mainly I want to install MyBackup from reware because I had backed up a lot of stuff before rooting, and I want to restore it to save me the hassle of reinstalling all my apps.
I tried re-wiping to see if that would help, but no luck, same issue. I've tried with and without a SD card in the phone as well, no difference.
Anyone else have this issue, or have any suggestions to try to fix it?
Thanks
Now this is weird...after waiting a while (it's been a little over 24 hours since rooting), I can now re-install applications. But MyBackup is still failing...and I need that one
Interestingly, My Downloads no longer shows the applications I previously installed before wiping, so maybe I just need to wait a few more days for MyBackup to be cleared out of My Downloads, and then I can reinstall it?
Here's hoping...
Ok I am posting this in case it is of any help to anyone. I have friends and family that have the SGS and decided to write them a few instructions on how to update their phone. I have updated 16 phones myself so far and found this to be the best method. Each phone has worked perfectly after with none of the problems I am seeing being reported on this forum. Hope it works for you too.
Backup apps and data with My Backup (free) or My Backup Pro. Pro version backs up application data which is very useful.
If you have installed OCLF then open OCLF and Undo OCLF, Undo Root and Remove Ext2 Tools.
On phone go to Settings, Privacy, Factory Reset.
When phone reboots type in *2757*3855#
When the phone restarts update phone to latest firmware using Kies.
After updating again run Settings, Privacy, Factory Reset.
When phone reboots type in *2757*3855#. This seems to either use a slightly different format or wipe files not wiped previously. I really don't know but either way phones I have tested this method on have had less lag.
Turn on USB Debugging by going to Settings, Applications, Development, USB Debugging.
Change Settings, Wireless and Network, USB settings to Ask On Connection
Connect phone to pc via usb. Do not enable any mode.
On PC run SuperOneClick found here, h t t p ://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682. This does not take long. Superuser will install last and should be followed by Done. This does not always happen so if you see superuser being installed for more then 10 seconds you can safely close SuperOneClick.exe. It will have installed but you have not received the final Done message.
Reboot phone and it’s now rooted.
In Market install OCLF and My Backup/My Backup Pro.
Run OCLF and install Ext2 followed by OCLF V2+.
Reboot phone.
Run OCLF, Alter minfree. Click Strict and set on boot then Fire it up.
Run Change Scheduler choosing Deadline, set on boot and tweaks then Fire It Up.
At the moment it seems if you reboot the phone you must make the last two changes again as the set on boot does not always work.
Run My Backup/My Backup Pro and restore all applications.
When finished run again this time restoring Data.
Reboot phone.
Now you may be left with one small problem. Market Download does not always show all your apps installed. Tends to be missing the free ones you have installed.
Run Settings, Application, Manage Applications, All
You will see Market and Market Updater. Go into each and click Force Close then Clear Data.
Now when you go back in to Market, Downloads you should see all your apps installed that are available in the Market.
If you have any apps installed from Samsung Apps you will need to reinstall them again. The reason being is even though you restored them the samsung app does not know you have done that and you won’t be notified of updates in the future.
All these steps doesn't look painless. I just flashed mine with Odin without the need to do anything else. After the update everything worked just fine.

Hi.
This procedure doesn't work for me, because of the Kies problem. I have yet to work around it.
However, I just want to point a slight mistake.
That code you entered doesn't work. It should be *2767*3855# . That's the Factory Reset without confirmation.
Thanks for the post.
In my opinion the most painless method of updating to 2.2 is by using Kies with registry hack tool made by Nodial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628&highlight=Kies+registry . Then apply the CWM if you want root and you are ready to go
why bother with this complicated stuff if the official update from Kies will be available for every country by the end of the month?

Clockwork didn't work correctly on my Samsung Mesmerize and my phone kept powering off when it went on standby. So I did a factory reset... but.... I think I made a mistake by restoring factory data and not uninstalling the lag fix nor did I unroot before restoring. Now, I cannot install the lag fix. I can install ext2, but the lag fix buttons do not turn green for me to install. If I try to tap on remove, it says it cannot find a lag fix, where as if I try to tap on install lag fix, it says it appears that I already have a lag fix installed. Any help? Are there some particular files in the root that I need to delete
I rooted with SuperOneClick. I ran V1+ from RyanZA's OCLF v2.3.0. It seemed to run correctly, but I cannot uninstall V1+. It says unavailable. When I try to click on uninstall, it says that it can't find playlogos1. I'm not even totally convinced that V1+ installed correctly even though it says it did.
1. Is there a way to get the uninstall working?
2. Is there a way to manually see if OCLF V1+ is actually installed?
3. If I do a Factory Data Reset, will that bring back the Tab to pre-OCLF or will OCLF setting/partitions stick around after I do this?
If I revert to factory settings will this bring back my tab to it's original state or will the changes made by V1+ not revert back? Worse yet, will it brink my Tab if I revert back to factory settings without uninstalling V1+?
I fixed my own problem. After the V1+ install I was left with /system/bin/playlogo and /system/bin/playlogosnow. The reason Undo V1+ didn't work was because it couldn't find /system/bin/playlogos1. The fix was to copy /system/bin/playlogo to playlogos1, then the Undo V1+ changed to green and worked.
This was odd because I ran the option to recover the boot animation several times successfully, but it never actually created playlogos1.
Oh well. It's fixed now.

I have a problem with superuser that I can't understand.
So I bought this new Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and I rooted it by flashing my phone with Clockworkmod 6.0.4.5(1116) with Odin, and then installing UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip through the recovery window.
To be honest the process didn't go ideally smooth. Since I misunderstood how to proceed with the process, I had to reinstall Clockworkmod a few times.
After finishing from that, I started trying to use software that needs root access (like LuckyPatcher), and lucky patcher was hanging at the beginning black screen and not proceeding. And I tried many other programs, and they always don't proceed and stop.
So eventually I went to the Application Manager and select Superuser, and chose to "Uninstall updates", and only then, all those Superuser prompt messages started popping up asking me to grant LuckyPatcher and all other software that tried to access root... and since I chose to Uninstall updates, the phone restarted.
Of course, after the phone restarts, we're back at square 1, but the programs, to whom I granted root access get root access for some time...
I tried updating Superuser from the market, but when the program starts, it says "The Superuser binary (su) must be updated.", and I have a option called "Recovery Install", when I choose it, the phone keeps showing a message saying "Installing Superuser..." and it never finishes. Yesterday I left it and went to sleep, and eventually it gave an error message. I would say that Superuser update itself requires root access which it couldn't get... but that's as far as I know. I tried the "Uninstall updates" trick but it never worked.
Also I have to say I tried to install Superuser versions 1.51, 1.60, 1.65, 1.80 through recovery with a zip file, and it didn't fix it. And I installed CrashROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535355
and it didn't help either.
What do you think? How can I repair that and have normal Superuser permission asked normally? Please advise.
Thank you.
Any help, please?
Problem solved
The solution was to specifically install SuperSU from the market and not superuser. That fixed it.
