remove gallery for htc gallery??? - G2 and Desire Z General

does anyone know if its possible without complete root to replace that slow ass cooliris gallery and replace it with the swift htc stock one? or is it even possible at all? thanks, veritasaequita

i just tried and it failed to install, anyone know any tricks?

It is possible to port that over but you need full perm root on your g2. It is easy to perm root it. just do that and send me a message and ill help you.

You need root and just to let you know cm roms load the gallery instantly.

What he said, and if you root, you can load up Enomther's rom and that gives you the option to remove the stock gallery and replace it with the HTC gallery with just the click of a button.

Im rooted... but idk what u guys are refering to. I do hate how slow the stock gallery is. Can I use a different one?

Those commenting about the slow gallery - do you have a large amount of photos on there? I have very few, but the gallery works fine...

Yes, it does get slow when you have a lot of images. I like the 3d gallery BUT it *is* slow when you have a lot of pics. I am debating on going to the stock htc gallery but I haven't decided yet, and I may as well wait for the cm6.1 official release rather than rc4.

Original gallery for cm6

Does anyone know how I can get the original gallery for com, the one that comes with htc. I like that one a bit, much more smoother and stable

You won't because htcalbum.apk requires some framework crap to work. I miss that gallery myself..I hate the google3d gallery..
CM6=NO Sense at all
Original photo gallery is made by HTC and wraped in sense,I dont think you will find anything from sense that will work with CM6..Sense is not open source.

720p video disabled in cm/stock mt4g camera app?

So I just flashed the newest cm on my phone, but I hate the camera app. It does not look good at all, but I could deal. But for some reason the 720p option for video is grayed out and in the notes for the rom said it was fixed. What can I do? Can I install the original mt4g camera app?if so how?

Select custom in the camera settings. And u would probably get a quicker answer in the cm thread

Photo gallery focus

how come when I open photo gallery and open the pics they are blurry until u resize them? It isn't blurry where u can't see it but u can definitely see a clearing up and sharpening of the image if u resize it. This is really annoying me for some reason.

I have that same issue. I have had it with rooted and unrooted EVOs both on the 003 and 004 versions of hardware. It seems to happen on pretty much all sense roms too. guess its a small sense issue, but it is annoying.
Its just the app fully loading the full resolution of the image. An 8MP picture has a lot of data, and in order to speed the app up, it renders a lower res file first, then completes it a second or so later.
Is there a way to have it load it all to begin with.

Nope, as it states above, if the app loaded them fully before displaying the usability of the app would take a nose dive.
I suppose you could look for a different gallery app in the market, but I am sure they all follow the same principle.

I nabbed the Gallery 3D app too but, either it's just me, or it's rather irritating. When you click on the photo icon while in camera mode, it doesn't take you directly to the last picture taken; just plops you right down at the beginning of your camera album and makes you scroll through all the photos (annoying if you have a lot). Can't remember whether stock gallery was weird like this.
Stock wasn't like that, it went directly to the last picture taken. Did you get the 3dgallery+ from the market or the official apk? I'm using the 3dgallery + and it does that.

I got this from the Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cooliris.media
Wouldn't be surprised if it's the wrong one. If so, could you link me to the one you are talking about? Searching 3dgallery just comes up with a bunch of non-relevant apps.
Moved to general as not android development
Oops....mine does the same.....i ripped it from a rom

Camera.apk

Hi, I have a strange problem. I guess I accidently removed my camera app from my phone when I was rushing through one day removing bloatware. I'm running the stock 4.2.1 that came with the phone and have only rooted it. I know I could flash a new rom and it would come with it and all would be well, but I'm happy with my phone at the moment and don't want to have to fool with finding a good rom. My question is where can I find the original Camera.apk? I've downloaded a couple stock roms and even gapps.zip but unable to find it. Is it nestled within a larger .apk or am I just blind lol. Any help at all is appreciated. Thank you in advnace.
fyi: I have confirmed the app is completely removed and not just hidden or frozen in some manor. Using 3rd party apps to take pictures just force closes that particular program.
Camera Launcher for Nexus 7 - This app is compatible with your T-Mobile LGE Nexus 4.
I have no idea what this apps is used for. Give it a try.
I had a similar issue but my mistake was I disabled stock gallery to use quickpic. Later i realised and enabled gallery app and my camera came back again
Hope it helps

You know what, I think I did disable the gallery and that sorta makes sense. That did the job. Thank you so much. I probably never woulda realized that lol.
Thank you for your suggestion too opticaldh. I would tried it out if the gallery thing didn't work lol.

Reflash the stock rom (4.2.1 or the latest 4.2.2) and you`re good to go.
